Review: San Fran's unstoppable and enduring tech house craftsman John Tejada is also super reliable. His sound is well established, but he always does enough with each new release to embellish it a little further. Returning now to his home label of Kompakt, he refines his palette to silky melodies, fuzzy pads and crisp beats that are superbly pleasing for both your ears and your heels. 'Sheltered' is a particularly classy cut of deft tech minimalism, 'Spectral Progressions' expires ambient broken beats with lush pad work and 'Panacea' picks up the pace in scintillant fashion. This might be his best work in years.

Review: WORKSHOP 32 has been a long time coming - not least as this is Kassem Mosse's first solo outing on Workshop since 2014. And what a way to return, presenting a full-length album that reflects the evolution of the artist while not denying any of the ideas and sounds and styles that first made us fall in love with him all those moons ago. A broad and varied celebration of off-centre electronic music that has as much right to be on the dancefloor as it does on a movie soundtrack. So what does that sound like? Well, in the case of 'Track 2', it's a skeletal toybox tech workout, while 'Track 6' takes us into deep and surrealist house music. Elsewhere, ''Track 7' explodes into a carnival of percussion and bleep, 'Track 4' offers lunging curveball fours, bassline seeming to bore holes in the very ground you're stomping on. Always pared back, but never truly minimal, it's one of 2023's earliest classics.

Review: Berlin-based DJ, producer and live-act Oliver Koletzki steps up to his own label Still Vor Talent with a tenth studio album. Its title Trip to Sanity is a reference to the classic German children's story 'Tabaluga' about a little dragon and is said to reflect the artist's own journey over the last 18 years in the scene. It's one riddled with a child-like curiosity for new sounds and it comes with plenty of collaborations as has always been the way with Oliver. There are jazzy downbeat cuts, party-starting house anthems and plenty of deeper moments that showcase fine craft and real musical artistry.

Review: Detroit house hero Kyle Hall returns with his biggest project in some time in the form of Transmissions, a new double album on his own well-regarded Forget The Clock. All six tracks have enigmatic, functional titles and the music is as idiosyncratic as ever. Each one veers more towards techno than is Hall's usual style, with pulsating synth lines and tight, dusty drum tracks making for stripped-to-the-bones grooves. Later on, things grow ever more abstract with twisted acid lines screwing their way through the increasingly ragged and roughshod drums. These are perfectly imperfect jams from a master of the form.

Talley's gritty, dubbed-out, low-rolling house style is present and correct throughout with the loopy chords of 'Blak Bottom' getting things going, 'The Flip' getting more cavernous and aqueous and 'ISO Vision' leaning into dub techno. Review: Anyone with an ear to the underground will be familiar with the name Kenny Hawkes. The late great house artists had a great influence on the scene and that legacy lives on through close friends such as Classic Music Company boss Luke Solomon, with whom he ran the legendary Wednesday night party Space from 1995-2002. Here Luke has linked up with Space regulars Jonny Rock and Leon Oakey to curate a loveling selected mix of tunes that pay tribute to Hawkes. Space Part 1 is a must for house fans - there is steamy deep stuff from Hawkes himself, post-rave dreamscape material from Cine City, punchy tech house done right and booming, and loopy grooves for dancefloor hypnosis. Review: California's Joe Babylon has been steering his own Roundabout Sounds through some lovely deep house waters over the last few years. Now the producer makes a big statement with his own debut album. He is something of a veteran having co-founded Plug Research back in 1994 and hosted underground events in Los Angeles during the mid '90s. Following on from outings alongside the likes of Rick Wilhite and Rondenion he now brings his own dusty, carefully disheveled house sounds to the fore. They have been crafted using an MPC which gives them their rough-edged appeal and they go from heads down back room joints to dubbed-out minimalism via dream late-night reveries. Review: After a run of reissues and a boundary-blurring fusion of classical music and electronica (January 2021's Angel's Flight), Norwegian ambient veteran Geir Jennsen AKA Biosphere has gone back to basics on Shortwave Memories. Ditching software and computers for analogue synths, drum machines and effects units, Jennsen has delivered album that he claims was inspired by the post-punk era electronics of Daniel Miller and Matin Hannett, but instead sounds like a new, less dancefloor-conscious take on the hybrid ambient/techno sound he was famous for in the early 1990s. Review: Eklo head honcho Seuil returns under a new guise as 97.4. Always keen to hop on to the next big thing, with Roots 82 (as the name might suggest) he goes for a very retro influenced vibe. Starting out on the first disc with the rather electro influenced "Rue Des Anciens" or later with "Le Cour Des Miracels" (which features some very dark Derrick May strings), thereds the early noughties micro-house sounds of "Colle 2000" or the funky Detroit inspired techno-soul of "Celeri Rave"or "Savat Yab" too. There are more cool sounds to be found on the second disc such as "Grand Matin" where he shows again his more recent penchant for deeper and emotive sounds. Fans of retro laced minimal at the moment by Binh, Spacetravel or Evan Baggs will certainly enjoy this release.

Review: Yoni is the rather accomplished pair of Thomas Melchior and Tim Hutton and they roasted this cult classic album of what was then called intelligent dance music back in 1994. It was a CD-only release back then but now gets a proper pressing across three slabs of wax It is much more percussive, raw and textural than anything you would associate the smooth minimalist Melchior these days but it perfectly fits in with the current trend for mixing up several sound worlds at once. Night Moves was born in 2012, after they visited Jenifa Mayanja in Connecticut in summer 2011 and promised her a party to play in London. Of their many achievements, on their Amphia label as much as elsewhere, this album on Sushitech stands as one of their finest moments. As with all the best Romanian minimal, it's also still hotly in demand, making it a welcome addition to Sushitech's 15th anniversary pressing marathon. Review: Marco Calderoni seems to have released just one thing and that was his How to Use The World Volume 2 EP back in 1991. Sound Metaphors Records has now remastered it and recompiled it for this all new pressing which sends you deep into his mix of ambient, house and Balearic across six sublime cuts. '7 Heavens' is the glistening opener with nice deep analogue beats, and 'Exploring The Unknown' carries on the same vibe before 'How 2 Use The Sky' is like a perfect post rave comedown. The second half is another scintillating mix of silvery, shiny synth lines and dusty analogue drums that sounds like little else before or since.

In the US the gap between hip-hop and dance music culture is even wider than it is here in the UK, only not in Detroit and its unique export, namely ghetto tech. FULL BODY DU RAG whips up an idiosyncratic but thoroughly addictive combination of ghetto, house and garage, hip-hop and jazz across eight tracks here, the borders between the genres being fluid at all times. Omar himself makes an appearance on 'Juice', a speedy but classy dancefloor workout, half tech and half house, that along with the hilarious but irresistible 'Trillionaire' boasts a skippy garage swing to the beats to boot. At the other end of the BPM spectrum we get 'Pussy On The Map" (feat NLGHTND) with its r&b strains, only nicely warped and sonically corrupted. Probably best of all is 'FBD X CERT', almost a moody grime exercise until a four to the floor rides roughshod through such conventional plans. Raw, racy - and utterly essential.

Review: We're still not quite sure why fabric rebranded their much loved mix series because the fabric present series seems to be very similar in that it is unbound by genre and chases only the best DJs in the game. Saoirse is one of those and makes a fine entry here that is on the header end of the spectrum following on from efforts from the likes of Sherelle, TSHA and MCDE. Her functional, low slung sounds are perfect for late night moment slots in the groove with cuts from the likes of Luca Lozano, Rinse FM founder Geeneus and many more all making for a storytelling mix.

Review: Overmono is a real techno-making machine that rarely makes a misstep. He's landed on Poly Kicks and XL already this year and now his entry into the long-running and legendary fabric series is another doozy. Here we have the double 12" selection featuring key tracks from it such as his own 'If U Ever' and a fantastic cut 'I Have A Dream' (feat Benjamin Zephaniah) for an LB Dub Corp album of a few years ago. Blawan's typically supersized 'Fourth Dimensional' is another big moment in an album that is jam-packed with them.

Review: A year on from the first installment, French electro stable Partout are back with a second volume of Everywhere, introducing the world to more of their deep cover operators working their studios in pursuit of machine funk perfection. AV1 leads with some trippy acid goodness, while Binh Baggs has a techier intention. The Trots bring something ghoulish and nasty to the table with 'Pelusa', while Yate plays around with trancey tropes in a gnarly rave context. There's bags of personality spilling out of these tracks, confirming Partout as a reliable destination for refreshing approaches to the electro-techno tradition.

Review: German artist Damiano Von Erckert has matured into a fine producer with a unique sound. He's dropped it on his own label, Aus Music and now comes through with a full-length on Live At Robert Johnson. As always it is a cross-genre mix with a dusty vibe and big heart. '3PIANOS' kicks off with expressive vocal samples and florid flutes ready for a summer dance, while a Pepe Braddock mix brings some signature weirdness from the Frenchman. Further tunes bring in tech, electro and hints of techno but always with that rough and ready vibe that brings the good times.

These are tunes that are ripe for club play but are rooted in odd-pop, synth-punk, DIY and post-kraut styles. Review: Former Panorama Bar resident and local Berlin fixture Cassy Britton presents her first full length release since giving up her residency and leaving Europe's clubbing capital for the sunny shores of Los Angeles. The Donna LP features some dusty classic house sounds of the deeper spectrum, as heard previously on her eponymous imprint, Uzuri or Perlon sporadically over the last 10 years and her great vocals which veer from spoken word, haunting/monotone to high pitched diva moves are a constant throughout. Highlights for us were the uplifting deep disco of "All I Do", the soulful deep funk on her cover of Prince's "Strange Relationship" or the emotive yet tough techno of "Move".
