Review: Cork based Irish post-black metal pioneers Altar Of Plagues are often cited as one of the pioneering acts to combine elements of second wave tremolo-picking, blast-beating black metal with post-rock and euphoric shoegaze which has since been popularised by artists such as Deafheaven and Liturgy. Trilogy serves as an encapsulation of the band's three vital full-lengths, White Tomb (2009), Mammal (2011), and the epic swansong Teethed Glory & Injury (2013), all re-issued with new artwork and design, as well as being remastered for vinyl from the original tapes. Likely to be the final time these works are ever pressed to wax, at least by label home Prosthetic Records; this is a definitive collector's piece of one of the most underrated and integral contributors and elevators to the black metal genre in the 21st century.
Review: Boris's Amplifier Worship, first released in 1998 and now reissued by Third Man Records, stands as a monumental testament to the band's uncompromising vision of heavy music. This album showcases their ability to push metal to its extreme boundaries, blending doom-drone, psych-sludge, and unrelenting noise. It's an intense, chaotic, and visceral experience, not for the faint of heart. The remastered version brings new life to this brutal classic, housed in a Stoughton gatefold jacket and pressed at Third Man Pressing for a high-quality vinyl experience. Boris's signature sonic landscapes are rich with mythic weight, as tracks shift from slow, crushing doom to explosive bursts of sound. The group's bullish experimentation, combined with their powerful live performances, has earned them a devoted fanbase worldwide. This reissue is essentialia timeless blueprint for Boris's expansive future.
Review: San Francisco based noise-rock titans, Kowloon Walled City, return with arguably their strongest output to date in the form of the obliterating, 'Piecework'. Slipping directly into the cavernous cracks between doom and sludge metal, yet approached with a post-hardcore mindset; these hefty pieces convey a despairing ethos not necessarily akin to their brand of trudging anguish. Cathartic, dissonant and emotive, the sum of their discordant parts culminates in a wearisome fusion with plenty of ethereal space left for the arrangements to swell and breathe. Part noise-punk/part sludgy slowcore, few projects within these scenes war with their own dynamism in such fervent fashion.

Set to tear the (proverbial) roof off of Gunnersbury Park this August alongside the newly rejuvenated Pendulum, nu-metal icons Limp Bizkit have reached a peak in their career where their previously maligned nu-metal hip-hop hybrid has become a nostalgia source for hundreds of thousands fans. What better preparation for the upcoming event than this double LP greatest hits collection that runs through a myriad of the band's most essential bangers. From the breakout (no pun intended) singles 'Break Stuff' and 'Nookie' which put Significant Other on the map and in CD collections, to the endless string of hits from ignorant masterwork Chocolate Starfish & The Hot Dog Flavored Water, such as 'My Generation', 'Rollin'', 'My Way' and the Mission Impossible 2 soundtrack stomper 'Take A Look Around', all the way up to the much underrated 'Eat You Alive' and The Who cover 'Behind Blue Eyes' from the unfairly forgotten Results May Vary, this is an ideal selection for both passive listeners and diehard fans. And yes, it obviously includes the George Michael cover of 'Faith'.
Review: Linkin Park's Minutes to Midnight marks a pivotal shift from their nu-metal roots, exploring a richer musical landscape. Co-produced with Rick Rubin, this 2007 release blends alternative rock, hip-hop and political insights, evident in tracks like 'What I've Done' and 'Hands Held High' and a collision of dynamic experimentation with aggressive rock and infectious melodies in 'Bleed It Out.' A commercial and critical success, Minutes to Midnight further broadened Linkin Park's appeal and impact and now vinyl-loving Park fans have a chance add it to their collections.
Review: The acclaimed sixth full-length from Swedish prog-metal auteurs and reluctant djent pioneers Meshuggah marked a notable return to their more raw and dexterous form of hyper-technical abrasion following the dizzying Catch Thirtythree which featured one ever-shifting piece divided into 13 segments. obZen saw the group utilising a live drum setup yet again following the Drumkit From Hell software synthesizer programming which Tomas Haake had exclusively pored over, leading to a more bombastic and feral sonic scope. Teeming with chaotic abandon balanced by their reliably overt calculation, cuts such as 'Bleed' served as latter day essential additions to their already bold catalogue while the absurdly vicious closing mammoth 'Dancers to a Discordant System' has become the band's go-to closer for live performances ever since.
