Review: Grown-up techno label Kompkat has always served up its most dancefloor ready sounds as part of the Speicher series and it is now up to an impressive 129 installments. This one kicks off with Hunter/Game & U S H N U's collaboration 'Reload' which is an electric cut with bright synth lines shimmering about the mix next to thunderous claps and dark future vocals. On the flip, Bawrut cuts loose with rave stabs over dense percussive grooves with vocal snatches adding to the unsettling and boisterous mood of 'Clapa', which does indeed also have plenty of claps.

Review: Hailing from the brilliant, tangled web orbiting Future Sound Of London, Mental Cube was one of Garry Cobain and Brian Dougans' short-lived side projects which found them indulging in the bleep and acid house sound. Given the talent at the controls, it's little wonder this release became such a holy grail - a misfit twist on the conventional formula of club records at the time and yet still as satisfying as any of the more widely played early 90s hits. This is the first time the release has been reissued in its true original form, meaning both mixes of 'So This Is Love' and the 'Santa Monica Mix' of 'Q'. Listen out for the cheeky nod to 808 State on 'So This Is Love' - a respectful tip of the hat rather than a cheeky lift, we'd say.

Review: Utopia Originals kicks off with a brilliant first real which revives some early progressive and trance sounds from 1993. They still sound right on point today which shows what a visionary Michel Spiegel aka Nuw idol really was. He himself describes this as "ancient galactic music decoded and restored for 4th dimension understanding". Simon Ponsford and Raja Ram's project of course reached beyond the trappings of dancefloor formula to become a much broader concern drawing on global music traditions and new age spirituality as much as mind-tweaking electronica. On this, their fourth album, the electronics were positively subsumed by intricately woven layers of flute, guitar, sitar, cello, hang drum and much more besides. Released in 2009 and remaining a firm favourite amongst the group's devoted fanbase, this remastered repress spread Ineffable Mysteries across three discs for maximum fidelity.

Review: In celebration of their tenth birthday, Selador marks the occasion in style with a four-track collaborative EP, featuring tracks from 3D, Robert Owens, Olivier Giacomotto, Quivver, Dave Seaman, Hernan Cattaneo, Argia, and Jepe. The opening track, 'Known Love', is a deep, pulasting house tune that feels like an instant classic, perhaps thanks to the soulful, pop-tinged vocals - think LCD soundsystem meets Four Tet. 'Snailblazer', the second track on the EP, takes a much darker turn, with a chugging, EBM-esque feel. Full-bodied and complete with obscured vocals, this is the kind of track to pull out your bag when it's time to really get stuck in. On the B-side, 'Napkin Knowledge' draws on the glistening synths of eurodance, yet still securing the melodies to a grounded bassline and rhythm section. 'Salitre' is the perfect closing track, rising up in a gleaming, ecstatic melody, before delicately returning to ground level. In the past couple of years he's been building up his own Spray label with releases from Dimensions 23, Drua, Anoesis and Marijn S. Review: There's something truly remarkable about Depeche Mode's most eminent hit song 'Enjoy The Silence' - perhaps it boils down to the the quiet solitude of its central monarchic protagonist, coupled with the song's euphoric hook for horn and synth pluck. Just as well, this euphoria was bound to lend well to trance and breaks, a synergy first discovered by Mike Koglin and Tekara (Matt Darey) back in 1998. First out on Mutliply, 'The Silence' heard Koglin and Darey lend the original DM hit a pair of intense breaks-trance brightenings, repackaging the track for eccied dancefloors across the globe, in a nonethless honest and compelling fashion. This 25th Anniversary edition hears the remixes reissued and remastered, plus newer versions from James Zabiela and GMJ & Matter.

Review: Miro Sundaymusiq was behind the first release on E2-E8 and has also turned heads with his scintillating sound designs and full-throttle synth scapes on Carl H's Animals On Psychedelics. He is in searing form once again here with the undulating synth modulations of 'ITWT' which tear up the cold, broken drum machine grooves next to blasts of fizzing energy and trance-like vocal shimmers. Review: Back in 2020, Seven Hills took a deep dive into the back catalogue of Isle of White producer Andy Jones, offering up tracks he recorded as Makers of Movement. Here they return to White's vaults to explore his cult Governed By Rhythm project, initially designed as an outlet for his faster, trance-influenced productions. On disc one, we're treated to a trio of previously unreleased gems recorded between 1994 and 97: constantly building, 16-minute ambient acid trip 'ANWAM', hypnotic tech-trance treat 'Kick The Can' (whose warped female vocalisations and psychedelic noises are undeniably Goa-friendly), and 'Bedroom', which doffs a cap to early 90s Italian techno productions. Disc two features selected highlights from the two hard-to-find EPs he released under the alias in the 90s, with the breathless 'Synergy' and breathless, bass-heavy 'Toltec Chants' standing out.

Review: It was only going to be a matter of time before this Euros-trance-dance classic got a reissue. We're here for it frankly, and it sits perfectly at ease with the current trend of trance and progressive sounds to be back one vague., SASH! were originators of this sound that saw huge chart success back in the day and all these years later 'Encore Une Fois' still does the trick - it has the iconic melodic riffs and rasping bassline with the sultry female vocals and muted acid. La Casa Di Tokapi mixes it into something more raw with Italo style melodies and a Future Breeze mix is the most trance-y of the lot. Merlyn & Chuck Mellow mix that cut loose on wild progressive energy.

Review: The always adventurous Especial label is back on its world travels once more for another cultured EP, this time from Jonne Lyden aka 53X. This is a widescreen bass exploration with trance-tinged steppas looking firmly to the future from the Finnish-born artist. He has a background in punk bands but a trip to Berlin turned his ear and now he makes experimental fusions that draw on everything from industrial to Berghain to Detroit for inspiration. His tunes are mostly started out as live jams and then edited into what we have here - club-ready sounds, rich atmospherics, acid, breaks and hypnotic rhythms.

Review: Slip on your Speedos and prepare for a dip in the warm waters of Swimtrax, which debuts here with an EP from Mark Lando that immediately suggests this label is going to be one to watch. First up are the gorging acid lines and rubbery bass rumbles of 'Formation', a mutant techno sound heavy on the low end. 'Scope' picks up the pace with speedy but no less slick kicks and icy hi hats while a mysterious and gloopy synth lingers in the foreground. The flipside offers the psychedelic lines of minimalist masterpiece 'The Salk Zone' and comic tech of 'In This Light.'

Review: There is a great backstory to this new one on Blue Hour: when Stockholm producer, DJ and promoter Maya Lourenco aka Parallax Deep was digging for music in the local Snickers Record store, she found two classic goa and psy trance tracks that particularly interested her. As such she snapped them up, took them home and began to work on her own distinctive edits of them, rearranging sections, cutting up bits and adding extra details while never getting too far away from the essence of the originals. Her edits of those two originals - 'Gobi Desert' by 100th Monkey & Tristan from 1995 - and 2000's 'Bunker' by Four Carry Nuts - are pressed up here and both sound brilliant.

Review: German progressive house duo Andhim specialize in bringing out the genre's sentimental side, and their latest single 'I Love You' is a masterful case in point. Describing their sound as "super house", the pair evidently only choose the most serene and gut-punching sounds and samples going in, and 'I Love You' exemplifies this, with its knife-edge, repetitive vocal and swellingly pink chords, which recall the French house climaxes of The Paradise or Daft Punk, and/or the more recent, well-rounded post-10s uplifts of Bicep. Of course, the B-side must provide the mirror image, on which the equally powerful emotion of hatred is explored. Hatred isn't exactly a house music go-to, but the psychologist in us feels compelled to remind the reader that love and hatred, aren't binary opposites, and are closer together than we often think!

Review: Rezpektiva keeps it real with a new offering from Christian Linder that explores the grey area where house, trance, and techno meet. 'Internal Flight' is the adventurous owner and it unfolds over the whole of the A-side with shimmering synths and thudding drum funk. 'Pleasure Extension' cuts more loose with playful melodies darting about the mix and bringing expansive cosmic feels. Closing out the EP is 'Multiple Choice', a retro-future prog cut with a lead synth line that echoes about the mix over militant drums with real snap.

Review: Zakmina is Lukas Zeringis, previously spotted on Futureboogie and Minimood, with his classy take on the modern tech house phenomenon. 'For U' sees the up and coming artist link up with Bordello A Parigi and go all-in on the trance tip. Playing out like it's peak time at Amnesia, the A-side is full of sentimental bombast which will keep that summer spirit running well into the winter months. On the B-side, 'Take Me Back' dishes out more of the melodic charm with a sly shot of electro in the rhythm section for good measure.

It is crafted from a serious of intriguing loops that he made between 2016 and 2021. They find him bending metal, harness fireflies, pipetting starry droplets and offering ups bright, shiny surfaces and crystalline lines on the hyper real opener before exploring more dystopian drone textures, double time techno rhythms and heavenly chorals. It's an escapist album for dreaming to and which will leave you feeling lies you have travelled to another dimension.
