The Colour Series I
The Colour Series I (hand-stamped translucent red vinyl 10")
Cat: REPEAT 04X. Rel: 10 May 22
Deep House
  1. Make Me (5:59)
  2. Missing Time (6:53)
Review: Two unreleased tracks by Englishman Richard Davis on his Repeat imprint. On the A side, you've got the sensual, late night mood music of "Make Me" delivered in his idiosyncratic style that's been heard on imprints such as 240 Volts, Moodmusic and Noir over the years. Over on the flip, there's the deep, afterhours-minded dub of 'Missing Time' which sounds like it could possibly be from the early noughties with its minimal sound. Also known as Dennis Kensington, the Berlin-based producer reissued some of his much sought after 12"s under the Junkie Satre alias on Repeat last year.

Cat: REPEAT 04Z. Rel: 23 May 22
Deep House
  1. Found Love (6:12)
  2. Transparent (7:33)
Review: Another issue of unreleased Richard Davis material this week on his Repeat imprint. While previously exclusive to his material under the Junkie Satre alias, this one features two tracks by the Berlin-based Brit under his birth name. On side A you've got the emotive minimal house groove of "Found Love", followed on the flip by the deep tech house of "Found Love" that's still very much on a subtle vibe, yet incorporating dubby and sensual elements. Both tracks make perfect mood music for the warm-up or afterhours alike. Tip!

Junkie Sartre
Junkie Sartre (hand-stamped double 12")
Cat: REPEAT 03. Rel: 28 Sep 21
Minimal/Tech House
  1. Throb (6:29)
  2. Candy (7:35)
  3. Normal People (6:58)
  4. Valley Forge (7:19)
  5. Breath (Junkie Sartre remix) (7:34)
  6. I Know (6:46)
  7. We Can Make It Through (5:47)
Review: Due to a deservedly renewed interest in the legendary producer's work, here we have a bunch of compiled and repressed oldies of Paul 'Richard' Davis' Junkie Sartre material. The Berlin-based Brit originally released these tracks around the turn of the millennium across a few EPs, for various labels including Offenbach's Raum.. Musik and the now defunct Decore. Features the deep and dubby mood music of 'Throb', in addition to the majestic minimalism of 'Candy' which predated a similar style on labels like Dial or Irenic, while the swirling and hypnotic deep house of B side cut 'I Know' is a true zeitgeist of the genre in that particular fine moment of its history.

  5. Visual Spectrum (5:30)
  6. Dubdub1111 (5:59)
  7. Sista Dub (8:36)
Review: There is a load of Jay Tripwire newness around at the moment and some of it is from his back catalogue and some of it is all new. Here the longtime minimal mainstay and Canadian scene-pioneer serves up a multi-volume collection of cult tracks of his from the early 2000s. They have a west coast tech house sound and are still future in design. The likes of Villalbos have long been banging these and they sit well with the days current underground sound. Acid, dub, tech, electronic soul and more all colour the grooves.
