Review: Calibre has always been one of the more thoughtful members of the drum & bass fraternity, with a passion not just for rumbling rhythms, but also pleasing musicality. It's these two sonic traits that come to the fore on FabricLive 68, his first contribution to the London super club's long running mix series. While there are plenty of sublime moments punctuated by punchy percussion, it's the more fluid, musically complex tracks that stand out (see the twinkling pianos of DRS's "Keep The Faith", Marky & SPY's carnival-tastic "Yellow Shoes (Calibre Remix)" and Zero's "Inner City Life"-ish "Refusal"). As a result, FabricLive 68 is a loose, languid journey through D&B's greener pastures.

Review: Soon, Fabric's impeccable mix series will reach its 100th installment - an impressive achievement in anyone's book. This 92nd volume comes from rising star Call Super, who joins the dots between all manner of tasty house and techno treats - some left-of-centre and quirky, others simply wonky and picturesque - over the course of 80 hugely entertaining minutes. According to the producer, it's designed for the break of dawn, rather than peak-time, a fact reflected in the presence of dreamy, loose, fuzzy and melodious tracks from the likes of Carl Craig, Speng Bond, Max Loderbauer, Shanti Celeste and Dresvn.

Review: Like a reality TV star rushing a vanity biography to print, many bands take on a DJ career after making a name for themselves. Cut Copy rise high above the trend on "Fabriclive 29," a dynamic, fresh and conceptual approach to what will surely become a classic DJ mix. The 25 tracks bounce, groove, cut, pound, swell and throb together to form a compilation so infectious, every guitar-strapped indie kid will crave a pair of turntables and vice versa. This could be the soundtrack to the party no one's had the guts to throw, where Nu-wave vocals cling to punky guitar leads and swishy hi hats propel a four-on-the-floor synthetic stomp. Teasing in the scuzziness of Ciccone Youth and Grauzone, while keeping company with Goldfrapp's synthpop and a bottomed-out Justice remix (courtesy of Erol Alkan), Cut Copy engages the iconic 80s sound to dance alongside the filtered, French -Touch sounds of today. Brimming with foxy vocals, carefree and playful but never too kitsch, the mix frees sweetened space pop from any dancefloor confinements. The climbing basslines could make disco heels plod, tattooed arms flail and slicked rocker heads bang, each lost to the sounds of overdriven distortion panning from one ear to the next. The catchy mix is so bright - neon even - you'll find yourself madly in love, whether your heart lies in the disco or garage.

Review: Dan Snaith taps into an elite force of Fabric selectors such as Shackleton and Omar-S as he delivers a mix that comprises his own work. Over 23 originals and four edits, all of which previously unreleased, Dan takes us deep into his rawer, floor-focused eccentricities. Join him as he pops to angular acid house ("Try") swoons and hovers to twinkling bliss ("Moshi") and requests as jack our cheeky little faces off to the physical technoid chugs of "406.42 ppm". Climaxing with the blistering euphoria of the piano-slapping "Fly Away", this is Daphni at his most direct and daring. A future Fabric classic.

Review: When it comes to DJing there aren't many names as trusted as Marcel Dettmann to provide the essential mix, be it in CD or podcast format. To date he's curated the second installment of Ostgut's in-house Berghain mix series and the Conducted mix for Belgian label Music Man. So it's about time Fabric invited the Berghain resident to participate in their own mix series, with this 77th edition providing a selection mostly based on unreleased MDR demo tracks that Dettmann's been utilising in his sets for years. The result is a good primer for what to expect from his label in the future, with Answer Code Request, Norman Nodge, Ilian Taper Dario Zenker and French producer Marcelus amongst the high-profile names contributing unreleased productions.

Review: As the FabricLive mix series inches towards its centennial release, the venerated London superclub has recruited drum and bass scene stalwart Dimension to mix the 98th edition. Given that it is his first commercially released DJ mix, we weren't surprised to find out that over half the included tracks are previously unreleased or exclusive "VIP" remixes from fellow D&B producers. At 56 tracks deep it's something of a thrill-a-minute ride, taking in various strands and sub-genres, cuts from rising stars and heavy hitters, and enough rip-snorting breakbeats and rumbling sub-bass blasts to keep any D&B head happy. As you'd expect given Dimension's own productions, there's plenty of soulful vocals and expansive musicality dotted throughout, too.

Review: Thanks to a career spent spearheading the post UK-garage "bassline" and "UK funky" movements, DJ Q's status as one of British bass music's innovators is assured. As a result, the DJ/producer's belated first contribution to the FabricLive mix has the air of a victory parade or lap of honour. Over half of the dizzying 32 tracks on offer are unreleased exclusives from his own archive of personal productions, with the rest made up of killer cuts from friends and associates, all bar one of which have never before seen the light of day. Unsurprisingly, the resultant mix hangs together brilliantly, offering up a thrill-a-minute ride packed with skipping, hip-swinging drums, sweet cut-up soul vocals, wobbly electronics and sub-bass so weighty your guts will start dancing to their own hyperactive tune.

Review: Given that they've now been bulldozing dancefloors with their distinctively dark, fizzing, tech-tinged take on drum & bass for nigh on 20 years, few will be surprised to hear that Ed Rush and Optical's contribution to the FabricLive series is a bombastic, full-throttle affair. Packed to the rafters with growling basslines, skittish jungle rhythms, subtle nods to rave and nightmarish textures, FabricLive 82 is little less than a lesson in D&B's murkier margins. While there are few surprises - the duo found their niche years ago and have been happily working it ever since - it's nevertheless a hugely enjoyable excursion, somehow squeezing in 39 tracks along the way.

Review: It's over a decade since Roman Flugel made his first appearance behind the decks at Fabric. Given that the veteran German producer has been on the line-up countless times since, this contribution to the club's long-running mix series has been a long time coming. Musically, there are a few surprises - the post-industrial oddness of Genesis P Orridge and Psychic TV, the bass-heavy hardcore revivalism of DJ Normal, the dreamy broken beats of Koehler and Ishi Vu - but for the most part it's exactly what you'd expect from Flugel. That means trippy, early morning techno in all its forms, skewed micro-house, warehouse-friendly reto-futurism and dubbed-out Berlin wonkiness. It's a blend that results in a mix that's as entertaining as it is atmospheric (and it's very atmospheric).

Review: Given that he took his DJ/production pseudonym from the name of a 19th century Romanian writer of folk stories, it's no surprise that Petre Insperescu's chosen form of techno is shuffling, atmospheric and classically-minded. Sitting somewhere between Luciano, Ricardo Villalobos and Nicholas Jaar, his sparse but well-rounded productions are simultaneously pleasingly calming and genuinely energetic, full of curious touches (a twinkling, distant piano here, a cut-glass string trio there) and gentle exploration. Gathered together and mixed into a seamless whole, as on this first mix for Fabric, they offer an intriguing journey that should appeal to all those who love their techno subdued and atmospheric.

As predicted, it's superb. After opening with Luke Abbot's deliciously steamy, marimba-heavy rework of Todd Terje sunset classic "Snooze 4 Love", the Running Back chief gradually ups the tempo and intensity, along the way finding time for the melodious breeziness of John Talabot, the stripped-back retro-futurism of Shan, a dash of big room business from Joy Orbison and Boddika, and a swathe of lesser-known house gems from the likes of Joe Clausell and Scott Grooves. He also squeezes in Prins Thomas's loose and summery rework of Caribou's "Sun", which closes the mix perfectly.

Review: The 90th installment of the long-running FabricLive series comes from Kahn & Neek, AKA Young Echno members Joe McGann and Sam Barrett. The 28-track mix-up is naturally heavy on material from friends and collaborators (Jabu, Pinch, Ishan Sound, Gemmy etc.), plus a swathe of their own productions and remixes. It offers a whirlwind tour of the Bristol duo's influences and inspirations, taking in paranoid, dubbed-out ambience, stoned trip-hop, sub-bothering grime, post-dubstep intensity, hard-to-define madness (Gantz's brilliant "Temple Meads"), dancefloor-burning ragga revisions, and mutant, wide-eyed post-R&B (the fantastic "Dial Ton" by VMOS and Boofy). In other words, it perfectly encapsulates the duo's club-rocking DJ sets, not to mention where Bristol's bass scene is right now.

Review: Already brandishing one timeless mix CD in his armoury with that Berghain mix, Ben Klock becomes the latest incumbent in the highly regarded Fabric mix series. No 66 in the series finds the Berghain resident taking us on an undulating journey through late night techno, casually slipping between obtuse, heads-down fare, blunt machine rhythms and shuffling, hypnotic grooves. The mix is naturally well constructed and beautifully executed, with plenty of sneaky re-edits, remixes and original productions from the man himself. Musically, there are few surprises, but that's not the point; Klock is a man you turn to for proper techno. It doesn't get much more techno than Fabric 66.

Review: It seems fitting that the hundredth and final volume in the "FabricLive" mix series should also be its most hotly anticipated. Coming from heavyweight heroes Kode9 and Burial - whose previous back-to-back mix for Mary-Anne Hobbs' show eight years ago has reached near mythical status. The album is a wonderfully full-throttle and mixed-up affair, with the shadowy bass lieutenants giddily flitting between quick-fire sections focusing on South African gqom, footwork, Juke, vintage hardcore, early jungle and more contemporary dancefloor experimentalism, each broken up by typically blazed and paranoid ambient interludes and the occasional surprise selection. There's a lot going on throughout, but that only adds to the fun. In other words, it's a triumphant finale to a landmark mix series.

Review: Fabric has described Mefjus's contribution to their FabricLive mix series as a "hybrid artist and DJ mix album". That's because the Austrian D&B starlet has taken the bold step to pack the 29-track set with his productions and remixes. In fact, every single thing featured on the thrill-a-minute CD is his work, even the previously unreleased "VIP" versions of tracks by the neurofunk heavyweight's peers. It's a blueprint that guarantees success. While there's plenty of subtle variety and occasional changes in direction, the set is propelled forwards at a furious lick by the Austrian's passion for fuzzy, mind-altering basslines, Blade Runner-style soundscapes, punchy rhythms and fizzing electronics. As a result, the 80-minute mix seems to pass by at the blink of an eye.

Review: Midland apparently spent much of his years fantasizing about one day playing at superclub Fabric, so it's perhaps fitting that the globe-trotting producer has finally been given a chance to contribute to the club's long-running mix series. Beginning with the woozy, off-kilter electronica of Georgia's "Pey Woman" and ending with his own "First Tube", the mix sees Midland effortlessly join the dots between breakbeat-driven house, skewed analogue techno, hypnotic leftfield tech-house, warm and fuzzy ambient house, quirky broken techno shufflers, throbbing electro and lots more besides. What's perhaps most impressive - aside from the quality and subtle variety of music on show - is the DJ/producer's willingness to flip the script and allow for lengthy beat-less intros, confirming his belief that mixes should be about more than a simple linear journey.

Review: Maceo Plex clearly saw the commission to do a Fabric mix as an opportunity to flex his musical muscles. The Miami-based DJ/producer has delivered an impressively atmospheric and cleverly produced studio mix that cunningly shifts in different directions, opening with 20 minutes of superb deep electro jams (think Sebastopol, Carl Finlow and Jenson Interceptor) before unleashing the producer's more familiar tech-house, techno and new wave selections. From then on, it's a sweaty sprint to the finish with Plex building the tempo and intensity throughout. Along the way, you'll encounter no less than 13 exclusives and unreleased tunes, including a string of previously unheard Fabric dubs from the man himself.

Review: Given the current political climate in the UK, it seems fitting that Romanian minimal house DJ has chosen to open his contribution to Fabric's long-running mix series with Renato Figoli's "Super Lemon Vapor", a track that smartly satirises the attitude of some small-minded Brits to immigration. From here, Raresh runs through some 16 cuts of woozy, tripped out minimal house, peppering productions by his compatriots with the occasional nod across the Atlantic (both Amir Alexander and Hakim Murphy cuts are excellent). If you've seen Raresh play at the Farringdon disco on one of his bi-annual bookings, you know the man has mixing skills and they are most certainly on display here.

Review: Over the last decade, Romanian DJ/producer Rhadoo has done more than most to put the country's minimal techno scene on the map. It's perhaps fitting, then, that he's used the opportunity provided by this first Fabric mix to showcase previously unheard tracks from some of the country's top techno talents. It's a similar tactic to that employed by his good friend Inspirescu on his Fabric mix earlier this year. Just as it did then, it works now, with the complimentary tracks helping to build a cohesive vibe. What's most impressive is the fluidity; from the eyes-closed late night shuffle of Tulbure's "Stalker", to the restless hypnotism of Faster's "Protocol" and the trippy bump of Barac Nicolae's "Frou Frou", Fabric 72 is a coherent journey to the heart of the Eastern European minimal scene.

Review: Despite the nebulous Sandwell District label ceasing operations at the end of 2011, the name has lived on as a performance based entity with Female and Silent Servant leaving it to be fronted by Karl 'Regis' O'Connor and Sumner. Thus the latter two step forth to man the figurative decks for this stunning induction into the Fabric mix series. Productions from the pair feature heavily, with several tracks from Function's recent Incubation brushing up alongside several of Regis' recent remixes for Blackest Ever Black and VCMG, while Sandwell alumni Silent Servant and Rrose also feature in the form of "A Path Eternal" and "Wedge" respectively. There are also a few surprises in the form of Untold's "Motion The Dance" and Factory Floor's "16-2-16-9-20-1-14-9-7?, which are joined by experimental fare from Boyd Rice and Samuel Kerridge. A must for fans of Sandwell District.

Review: Those who started their dance music journey in the 1990s may have fond memories of Sasha mixes. Either on his own or alongside John Digweed, Sasha was responsible for delivering some of the most lauded mix CDs of the decade. As this surprise contribution to Fabric's mix series shows, his talents have not faded over the years. Beginning with a slew of hazy ambient soundscapes fused with shuffling IDM beats, the progressive house legend slowly ups the pace and intensity as if transitioning from a groovy warm-up set to a mind-altering peak-time one. That means heaps of melodious tech-house, string-laden dancefloor anthems, hypnotic dub techno, tactile deep house and the rushing brilliance that is the Antigone remix of Carl Craig classic "At Les".

Review: Given that Scuba was officially the last DJ to play at Fabric before the club's controversial closure, it seems rather fitting that he's the first DJ to contribute to their lauded mix series since then. As if keen to celebrate the Farringdon venue's legendary status, he's pulled out all the stops, creating an inspired musical journey created using snippets of no less than 42 tracks. Scuffed, lo-fi techno grooves, warped bass music sounds, feverish African rhythms and throbbing electronics bob in and out of the mix, with Scuba effectively creating entirely new tracks by blending elements of tracks and remixes from the likes of Ricardo Villalobos, Pearson Sound, Patrick Cowley, Cinematic Orchestra, Ben Klock and Donato Dozzy. It's hugely impressive, all told, and amongst the Hotflush producer's best work.

Review: Given their status as confirmed party-starters who think nothing of turning their DJ sets into a thrill-a-minute romp through a myriad of musical styles, it's heartening to see that Soul Clap has continued this approach on their first Fabric mix. Featuring a dizzying 34 tracks squeezed into 80 action-packed minutes, the mix sprints through boogie, proto house, disco, electro, Afro-jazz, Latin beats, Balearica and numerous variants of house. Along the way, you'll encounter highlights from The Pool, Scott Grooves, Harvey Sutherland & Bermuda, Nu Guinea, Jimi Tenor & Tony Allen, Chateau Flight, Conga Radio and, of course, members of the extended Soul Clap family.

Review: Given that there have been 93 previous editions of Fabric's long-running mix series, you'd think DJs would struggle to find a new angle. Steffi, though, has had no such problems. The Berlin-based Dutchwoman has flipped the script by commissioning all 16 tracks especially for the mix. It's a neat trick and works well, with the result being a typically impressively put-together stroll through a myriad of techno, house, IDM and electro-related sounds. There are two exclusive Steffi collaborations (one with Martyn as Doms and Deykers, the other with Shed), alongside seriously good cuts from pals Dexter (solo and alongside Virginia), Late Night Approach, Answer Code Request, Privacy and UAS.

Review: As Fabric's highly regarded mix series speeds towards its hundredth release, the iconic club's in-house label continues to serve up must-have volumes. Predictably, this volume from globetrotting Life & Death head honchos Tale of Us is pretty darn tasty. Atmospheric, fluid and hazy with a wonderfully undulating ebb and flow, it sees the acclaimed Italian tech-house twosome saunter between trippy, early morning workouts, quietly melodious shufflers, psychedelic techno jack-tracks and the kind of dark, mind-altering fare most often associated with pitch-black Berlin basements and bleary-eyed after-hours events. Typically, the mix contains a slew of exclusive tracks that have never before seen the light of day, including gems from Dennis Hovrat, Fur Coat (the throbbing "Squared Mind") and Efdemin.

Review: Nobody could accuse Joris Voorn of lazily knocking out a big standard DJ mix on his first contribution to Fabric's long-running series. The long-established Dutch producer has used the opportunity to showcase his studio skills, combining elements from no less than 65 different tracks to create a unique musical journey that brilliantly blurs the boundaries between a DJ mix, album, and remix set. Musically, it's pretty much what you'd expect - deeper, woozier cuts morphing into tougher, harder fare as the set progresses - but it flows wonderfully well. Due to the nature of its' construction, even familiar tracks from the likes of Robert Hood, Plastikman, Deepchord and Voorn himself become vibrant new pieces, as he brilliantly melds them with up to four other cuts at the same time. It works as a mix, but as a showcase for Ableton Live's potential it's out of this world.

Review: Perlon chief Thomas 'Zip' Franzmann makes a welcome entry into the Fabric mix canon, with the 67th edition showcasing the German's impeccable abilities as a selector. 17 tracks deep, Zip veers from Vedomir to Terrence Dixon via Kenny Larkin steadily drawing out a druggy, deep atmosphere with the Ukrainian's hallucinatory Dekmantel gem "Dreams" opening proceedings and setting the tone for what follows. Anyone lucky enough to catch Zip DJ at the Farringdon club, or indeed the Get Perlonized showcase at Panorama Bar will gladly scoop up this selection and the inclusion of Armando & Poindexter's killer remix of the Sun God's "Blackholes" is a considered highlight for us at Juno HQ.
