The infamously groovy humanoid figure on the front cover of each release (a bit like the Moving Shadow logo, albeit more spiritual) sums up the mood of his releases: hardcore, ecstatic, demi-divine. On 'The Stonka' EP, the producer leans far more in the former territory, however, with 'Stonka' portraying a sub-heavy reversy-breaks cacophony and 'Break Of Day' laying down a ragga-sample-inflected mind-expander, not to mention a clever pun.

Review: Kniteforce Records reissued some seminal tunes by John Lisners aka Baraka back in November. They were originally written in 1995 and are perfect hardcore tunes with a depth of emotion and killer grooves. Now they have them remixed for this new 12". Hyper On Experience goes first and lays out smooth chords, aching vocal samples, and planning bass that makes for a brilliant trip. On the flip, 'I'll Be There' gets an Ant To Be remix that builds the ragga influences, keeps the drum breaks crisp, and teases with samples throughout before the whole thing drops proper and no doubt explodes the dance floor.

He's at it again here, too, filling his Vivid label debut with a quartet of sub-heavy, breakbeat-driven bangers dripping in saucer-eyed, rave-style samples. He begins with the sharp riffs, pitched down Amen breaks and booming bass of 'In My Life', before upping the tempo on bustling breaks roller 'Dead Drop'. English doffs his cap to spacey early drum & bass on loose-limbed flipside opener 'Keep Steppin', while closing cut 'C'Mon' is an insanely weighty, pitched-down hardcore bomb.

The jungle itself is hella intense and fiery once you drop the needle on this record - 'Swirls' is an unreeling ash up of breakbeats and sci-fi sonics. 'Close To The Edge' then goes deep on vocal musings before explosive drums bow up the dance floor and 'The Rebel' then takes a jump up path with rapped vocals bring the spice. Last of all is a well sampled and funkier fusion in the form of the party starting 'Love Miracle.'
