Get Fucked - "Charlies Knickers" (remastered version)
Nils Hess - "Alcohol Is My Favourite" (The Staggering Fools mix)
Review: Get Fucked might be one of the best DJ aliases ever, and the music the London pair of Nathan Coles and Nils Hess kicked out is also top draw. Now two of their early naughties classics are being reissued starting with a remastered version of 'Charlie's Knickers' which is super tight and kicking tech house with a fat bassline and mystical pads swirling around an alluring vocal. Also featured here is a previously unheard version of Nils Hess' 'Alcohol Is My Favourite' (The Staggering Fools mix) which is another archetypal tech house vibe with physical drums and perfectly weighted bass. Two bona-fide bombs.

Zebraz
Review: In 2003, deep in Croydon's Online Studios, the roots of proper tech house - we said *proper* tech house - were spreading underground. It was here that Evasive label head Rob joined forces with Simon Copleston, aka. Iteration X, for a fresh collaboration under the new alias Rob & Si. The project followed the underground momentum built by Iteration X's earlier 'Timecheck / Liquid Logic' EP, and merged the individual styles of both into a unified, forward-pulsing, projectile sound. The result was 'Roll One Up / Zebras', the 2003 two-tracker reminiscent of the sultry out-breaths characterising much of the 2-step garage that would emerge in parallel at the time. 'Zebraz' is an extra-special dubbing; an aposematic m(s)onochrome moving through various echos, stabs and what sound like field recordings of startled wildlife.

Review: Eddie Richards' vaults are surely some of the best there can be for tech house heads. The Brit was there on the ground, helping to shape the earliest incarnations of the newly emerging genre back in the 90s and early 00s and few have bettered it since. Proof comes from this reissue of a pair of remastered beauties on new label likethis. 'Destiny' has never before been on wax and is a silky, synth-laced sound with crisp drum funk and then the B-side jam 'The Soul' is a dusty and stripped-back mix of drums, hits, swirling pads and irresistibly loopy grooves.

Review: Bobby Donny's ongoing ACE series of vinyl releases has thus far delivered some genuine deep house treats. This is particularly true of the Dutch label's sporadic, compilation style EPs, which tend to showcase tracks previously released on digital-only EPs. There's plenty to set the pulse racing on EP number four, with highlights including two fine collaborations between label founder Frits Wentink and fellow Amsterdam scene stalwart Malin Genie (the sub-heavy peak-time bounce of 'Ambrosia' and the techno-tempo hypnotism of 'Exopaq'); the ultra-deep two-step house shuffle of 'Comet (Deep mix)' by ZZ Banks; the Italo-house influenced colour of Clovis Chilwell's 'Don't Let The Night End'; and the deep, hazy and dubbed-out brilliance of 'Slow Burn' by Rico Scott.

Tech This Out (Yoruba Soul mix)
Review: Karizma's latest offering proves that simple ingredients assembled with love and skill often yield the best results. There's nothing over-egged about Tech This Out, but its compelling less-is-more approach impressed label boss Atjazz so much he heralded the release as one of the "best underground house records ever made." Karizma, who hails from Maryland, has always been a master of rhythm and he proves it here as pulsing chords glide over loose-but-locked drums, rolling toms and sub-rooted bass. Pure and timeless, it grooves beautifully i and it's easy to see what got Atjazz so excited. His remix sounds mighty fine too, naturally leaning into the OG while adding some percussive depth, while the Yoruba Soul version strips things back further, with harmonic overdubs taking the arrangement for a meandering walk.

Live At The Cosmic Carnival
Review: A decade after it was first released (credited, back then, to Detroit Swindle), Dam Swindle's 'Figure of Speech' EP returns on vinyl in freshly remastered form. It remains one of the Amsterdam duo's most respected and much-loved EPs, and for good reason. Opener 'Figure of Speech' is an infectious, rolling and impressively groovy workout which combines African vocal samples, layered percussion and tidy house breaks with warming deep house chords and tech-tinged electronics. 'Victoria's Secret' is a woozier and more analogue-sounding deep house groover with deliciously positive synth melodies and fizzing riffs, while 'Live at the Cosmic Carnival' is a more percussion-rich slab of jazz-flecked, Batacuda-inspired Latin house heaviness that could well be the EP's most potent moment.

Review: The fifth instalment of Sushitech's exclusive 10x10" series showcases archival and newly remastered tracks from the cult Housey Doingz, a London pair who did plenty to shape early UK tech house sounds. This one features their elusive remix of DJ Snug's 'The Predator' a track that has become incredibly rare and commands sky-high prices in the second-hand market. It's minimal tech but with maximal impact. On the reverse of this is a remastered dub version of 'Kitchen Spasm' which is another irresistible club cut and makes for the perfect acid double-header.

Review: Only Music Matters hits release number ten with another anonymous artist serving up a trio of tasteful minimal and tech rollers that have already been supported by Dubfire and Priku. 'AAA001A' is a wicked mix of synthetic and organic sound - a heartfelt male vocal and new age flutes, sci-fi melodies and bubbly drums all coalesce into a hypnotic roller, then 'BBB001B' picks up the pace with a smattering of silvery toms and snares over dubby beats. Last of all, 'BBB002B' brings some colour next to trippy and abstract synths and whispered vocals that are stitched into a silky and ever-evolving rhythm. Classy stuff.

Review: This low-key repress offers a clean update of a record long out of circulation, with three deep cuts newly edited and remastered for 45 RPM. 'Memorandum', previously heard at Giegling events, opens with slow-moving pads and a narrow rhythmic range, relying on subtle modulation rather than arrangement shifts. 'Semper' continues with more drive i a stripped-back exercise in low-end pulse and restraint, built around clipped percussion and minimal harmonic information. The B-side features the edit of 'Mountain021.1', a long-circulating favourite that trades in delay-heavy loops and soft saturation, keeping the groove linear and open-ended. The new master preserves the original's softness without dulling its detail. It's not flashy, but it's durable i functional material that wears its age lightly.

Side-1 starts with 'Straight Sneaky,' a classy tech house track that offers a brisk jaunt into sci-fi with airy and hypnotic elements. 'Lose Your Way' (Smoked version) follows, delivering acid house vibes with vocals reminiscent of Abe Duque, but enhanced with melodic elements that elevate it to a smooth, futuristic sound. Side-2 opens with 'Crossroads,' a catchy techno track blending Detroit and UK styles for a perfect balance of heady and body-moving dynamics. The EP concludes with 'My Phantasy,' an 80s-inspired acid house track that steps up to nearly acid techno territory while maintaining a crucial dose of funk. This EP is a masterclass in minimal and tech house, offering a journey through various stylistic influences with sophistication and flair.

'Born On The Same Day Vol. 1' suggests the first in a series, and indicates that both artists share a birthday; 'State Of Solina' brings glassy dream-pads, while 'Rabbit Hole' incurs the sense of self-loss in a technical dream-state, and 'PPG Disorder' goes full on wacky sound design and UR-style ad-libs.

The sixth instalment of the ten-part series features a freshly remastered version of the iconic house classic 'Lounge' which was originally released on Eukahouse 25 years ago. Here he takes time out from releasing on his own Deaf Test imprint and pal Batu's Timedance outlet to deliver his first outing on Ryan Elliot's Faith Beat imprint. He begins in full-throttle, UKG-influenced mode on 'Flirt' - all warped bass, skippy drums and glassy-eyed musical motifs - before opting for a more bumpin', sample-heavy sound on the sweat-soaked joy of 'Woman (Thank You)'. Over on the flip, Smith charges between the big room, Junior Vasquez-influenced tribal house heaviness of 'Love Song', the shoulder-swinging UKG flex of 'I Need You', and the immersive dark house psychedelia of 'Prayer Hands'.

Here the Glaswegian producer adds another admired imprint to his CV, Chiwax, via an EP that showcases the depth and variety of his house influences. Check first 'No Metronome', a dusty, thickset and (drum machine) percussion-rich chunk of muscular deep house that reminded us a little of the great Kerri Chandler, before admiring the retro-futurist Chicago jack-track that is 'House It Up'. Over on side B, 'Mission 770' is a lightly dubbed-out chunk of peak-time deep house hypnotism and 'Do You Play House' sounds like 'French Kiss'-era Lil Louis fused with the sweat-soaked energy of Sound Factory era Danny Tenaglia and Junior Vasquez productions.

Review: Big up to northern powerhouse Burnski for steering his Constant Sound label to the not-so-insignificant feat of release number 50. More importantly, the sounds remain as vital as ever and always evolve into subtle new sound worlds. The mantle for this one is taken by Locklead who brings some fine drum patterns to 'Backup' and pairs them with sliding hi-hats and bubbly synth motifs. It's garage-infused but utterly fresh. 'Wizzord' is a darker tech house with searching lead synths and plenty of pent-up energy, and 'Motherland' brings nice jazzy chord work and atmospheric samples. 'Pink Skies' is a bright closer with contrasting synths - some farting, some smooth - and more high-speed, catchy drums that span house and tech.

Review: The enigmatic Florence series continues with a varied collection of dance-focused cuts. The looped-up 'Aphect' features haunting vocals transcending pulsing chords, snappy drums, and deep bass, while the familiar disco flex of 'Bphect' features a beefed-up edit of Melba Moore's classic 'Pick Me Up, I'll Dance'. Crisp rhythms power more wigged-out vocals on the stripped-but-sturdy 'Cphect', before the showstopper 'Dphect' features a boldly tongue-in-cheek (or playful, depending on how you look at it) house version of The Shadows' 'My Blue Heaven,' with Cliff's honeyed vocal spliced over bumping drums. Bags of fun.

Review: Garrett David has always been tasteful - but here he sounds hungry. The longtime Chicago selector and Gramaphone mainstay has spent years gently refining his sound: clean, club-conscious, and unmistakably steeped in the US house tradition. But this is different. 'Play2Win' kicks things off with a mean streak - stripped-back but twitchy, all pressure and paranoia, like he's dialled into the dead-eyed hour just before sunrise. 'Grow Up' flips the mood entirely: warmer, wiser, swung to perfection, like Mood II Swing after a week off social media. On the B-side, things stretch out. 'Livin' Under Clouds (Zenzitiv Dub)' is pure humid hypnosis - chords refracted into dubby bliss, with just enough grit to keep your shoulders moving. 'Subaqua' closes the set in high style, with melodic flourishes rising and falling like breath. There's no filler here, no nostalgia trip - just deep house with real personality. Butter Side Up is fast becoming one of the most dependable labels in the UK. With this one, they've struck gold - again.

Review: The third release on Secretsundaze's 9FINITY imprint sees Naarm/Melbourne producer DJ Life return to the fold with another batch of psychedelic club tools, balancing UK bass pressure with trippy minimal finesse. 'Utility' jolts things into motion with snaking low-end and warped FX, slipping in and out of jagged tech shapes. The sparring synth jolts of 'Electrolyte' feel more frenetic, its thwacking groove and dubby vocal chops making for a proper headrush. On the flip, 'Breathe' trades upfront energy for depth, layering smoked-out subs beneath lattices of percussion. 'Stay Playful' edges toward tribal house but keeps its sci-fi freakiness intact. Digital bonus 'Love Sensation' eases the tension with clipped garage swings and pearly padsia welcome curveball.

Review: Following fine early outings on House Puff, Tessellate and Dansu Discs, T Jacques co-founded the Nuances De Nuit label. While that outlet has been his main home for the last few years, he still occasionally guests on other imprints. It's what the rising star is doing here, making his first appearance on Gene On Earth's popular tech-house/deep house fusion imprint Limousine Dream. He begins with the warm and woozy 'Houze Control', a thickset slab of loose-limbed deep house excellent peppered with spacey synth sounds, before combining intergalactic tech-house sounds with chunky grooves on title track 'Fingertips'. Over on the reverse, 'Inside Out' is a slightly tougher - but no less bass-heavy or intergalactic-sounding - workout, while '2 Hi' is deep, dubby gear for very late nights and early mornings.

Review: After years of exploration and experimentation, a new wave of artists from the Andes is now gaining some deserved global recognition. One such artist is Guillermo aka Existencia Pasajera, whose work has been shaped in southern Chile and so smartly reflects the region's newly emerging creative depth. This new release captures his fluid, expressive keyboard style and opens with the trippy and psychedelic loops of 'Haunted House' before 'The Brujo' gets more dark and menacing. The EP also features a remix by Minus legend Magda. Her label debut blends acid, stripped back rhythm and heady grooves, while closing the release is Map.ache of the Giegling collective, whose minimalist approach offers a meditative counterpoint.

Review: While the required mystery means that we can never be quite sure who is behind the Moxy Edits series and My Edits imprint, many are reportedly by the man behind the Moxy Music label, house hero Darius Syrossian. We suspect - though cannot confirm - that he's at the control on this latest instalment in the series, which feature two house reworks of classic cuts. On A-side 'In The Know', he delivers a killer slab of warehouse-ready hip-house, where a familiar, high-octane rap rides heavy-but-bouncy beats, an infectious bassline and occasional blasts of the infamous (and much-sampled) 'Apache' break. Over on side B, 'Square Hole' is a housed-up take on a Steely Dan classic previously sampled by De La Soul. Both cuts are bona fide party classics in the making.

'Triple Double' kicks off with nice lazy drums and sparkling synths that are perfect for early evening warming up. 'Father's Groove' gets more lively with some steely drums macing away beneath loose percussion and 'They Couldn't Stop Me' then gets dee with smeared vocal sounds and hip-swinging drums. Lastly, 'Never Been In Chicago' plays with filters and gently swaying groves to lull you into a reverie. These work on the heart and head as much as heel.

He's got plenty of them dropping in the early part of 2025 too, and all of them are slightly different but equally effective. This latest drop on the Melange Archives label was originally released back in 2013 and starts with 'Monster (feat Kofi Tarris)' which is raw-as-you-like house music at a slow and steady pace but with such energy in the chords and funky guitars that it will blow up any club. 'Thunder & Lightning (feat TOG)' lands a little more heavy. There is garage swing in the drums and plenty of expression in the vocal stabs. Two bombs, for sure.

Review: Rawax pin another heavyweight to the corkboard with Art Department, as Jonny White returns to vinyl foe-vanquishing following a three-year pause. Now with the 'Paper Cuts' EP, he marks his first solo release in that time, assigning to the listener various moods from tearful garage housers ('Walk With Me') to floor-filling killers ('Jonny's Inferno'). White's towering presence over the scene is further felt with 'Paper Cuts' and 'Jazz Hours', as increasingly sleuthy moods worthy of a dance private detective scour the club backrooms for probable cause.

Review: Claus Voigtmann's Life Miles LP was another fine bit of work from the London-based German, and now two of the singles from it get served up on a new 12" next to remixes from a pair of tasteful underground producers. First up is LA-based Liquid Earth who brings some low-end wonk to 'North Of The Sun' next to acid-soaked grooves and driving 909s. The original pumps a bit harder with a Leftfield cosmic edge. Then comes Youandewan on the flip. He twists 'Lowrider' into a murky and late-night dub cut with warped bass and a signature sense of crispy tech funk. The original is a more high-speed and silky, electro-inspired space cruise with lovely broken beats.

He is a UK artist making bold moves on the likes of Pillz and TSOL where he has showcased a contemporary take on the classic tech sound. 'Superlative' opens up here with bouncy drums and steel percussion to get things moving then 'Wobbler' gets more playful with some twisted acid lines and silky synth wisps that keep things trippy. 'Gone For' is more of a straight up driver with thudding kicks and warped sirens and 'Yurgen' has a woozy late night fluidity to it.

Review: Shep' is a new project from respected UK veteran Jay Shepheard. He debuted it with the inaugural release on his People Pleasers label last year and backs it up with more heady fusions of dub, minimal and house. 'Smiling Beaver' has tight drum patterns and dusty hi-hats but nice woozy vocal smears and jangling synths that keep things organic. 'Honey By The Pound' is a perfectly aged tech house cut that throws it back to the 90s and hits like Fresh & Low, while 'Fur Burger' gets a little more direct but keeps a playful charm with tin-pot percussion, cheeky whirring motifs, bleeps and balmy vocals. The closer, 'Good Schit,' is another colourfully infused late-night tech house sound that balances motion and emotion perfectly.

Review: Sheffield producer Tommy Vicari Jr. offers us a vicarious opportunity to join him on a trip across the UK and beyond, through his chosen vehicle of organic tech house. For some reason he's named his latest compilation LP after the Middlesex pianist Adrian Snell, although the connection between him and releasing label Curtea Veche is difficult to ascertain - the eponymous track on the B1 could provide a clue, as it sounds as though it samples the pulchritudinous piano playing of the great Snell himself. The likes of 'Heart Not Head' and 'Play Misty For Yourself' also espouse great philosophies in the track titles, complementing each of their freewheeling, spiritual tech house attitudes, replete with jiving string movement and lighthearted tonality.

Breaky (Arapu remix)
Review: Politics Of Dancing returns to their self-titled label with more perfect club bait. 'Fonk' is a breezy, smooth tech house pumper with shape-shifting synths and a nice tightly coiled bassline that are perfectly easy to latch onto a cruise along with. 'Little Freak' brings more colour to some psychedlic synth refrains that loop over the bubbly tech house beats and 'Breaky' has a gritty low end and cosmic pads. It's body music with a future edge and last of all is an Arapu remix which ups the pace a little and brings some sci-fi motifs to a fulsome minimal soundscape.

Low (Zendid remix)
Review: Dubfound’s return is tightly coiled and quietly hallucinatory, tracing crisp patterns through fogged rhythm. ‘Coocooz’ jitters with nervous energy, all micro-detail and negative space, while ‘Feef’ drips in slippery percussion and flattened bass throb. ‘Low’ works a more reduced hypnosis — less hook, more repetition — but it’s the Zendid remix that lands hardest, pulling warm subs and twitchy delay into a loose-limbed swing. As ever with VRNT, the mood sits somewhere between Romanian reduction and Pacific Northwest psychedelia with a vinyl-only tactility that deepens the slipstream. Now based in Moldova, Dubfound has long operated just outside the minimal mainstream, building out a catalogue on labels like Sleep Is Commercial, Nervmusic and Rawax. His own imprints — Swoon, Nurum and Zimotik — favour analogue feel and no-frills groove, often bordering on the abstract. This release fits that mould: heads-down, refined and deceptively emotional in its restraint.

The Acid Test
Review: Acid tests, in a scientific context, refer to metallurgic processes whereby the chemical composition of metals are analysed in order to determine their makeup. We can't place exactly when the term was co-opted by artists of the acid techno movement, but we can certainly attest to this acid test's besting of several other lesser litmuses in the micro-genre. ITWS have found a gem in Ilario Liburni, a mainstay of the Italian audio-alchemic underground: 'I Don't Tip' and 'The Acid Test' provide twin minimal acid, with psychedelic ad-libs sure to make even Timothy Leary blush, while isotopes from TIJN and The Wizzard heighten the base compounds' corrosive intensities. A well assayed assault on the ears, well suited for those hazarding another lysergic dabble.

Disco 3000 (Chip Chop Megamix)
Review: Trax Records mainstay and Chicago "Queen Of House Music" contender Screamin' Rachael surfaces with 'Disco 3000', a rawhide vinyl-only blast of acid-soaked Chicago grit, limited to just 150 hand-numbered copies. This 12" pushes her punk-inflected house legacy into tougher, sci-fi terrains, looping in longtime Trax affiliates for a three-track session that cuts deep. Side A opens with 'Bitch (D BEAT Long Version)', a stripped, percussive thumper with Trax's A&R in the driver's seat, followed by Marcus Mixx's warped 303 meltdown 'Acid Trip - Unending Journey Mixx'. Flip it for DJ Chip Chop's chaotic 'Disco 3000 MEGA MIX', stitching wild-eyed moments from Screamin' Rachael's earlier LP into one breathless rush of clattering, drum-machinic squelch.

Review: French label Laboratoire Osbolete have carefully built a space in which artists are let the title of sound alchemists, transmuting ferrous sonic metals into precious bezoars. Trajano is their latest metal-mogrifier to join their arcane ranks, and here they manifest the brilliant 'Formulas' EP: another demo of alchemical audial abilities audited afore our ears. 'Pipeta' brings a pipettes' worth of volatile liquid compound to our tympanic lobes, while 'In The Lab' and 'Formulas' leads us down an increasingly obsessive path, as we join Trajano in synthesising the ultimate lucky liquid, with reactive chemistries of ripply synth swirls and distant film dialogue.

Review: Emerging Italian producer Mama lays down his anticipated 'Sottopasso' EP, building on Exarde's now longstanding vision in neon-steeped dance music set to white inner labelled vinyl. Each track has a personal resonance with Mama's experiences and memories of noughts Italy, and with cover art by graffiti legend Gkoner, we've a a mysterious, eerie entrancer on our hands, tempered by the allure of graff culture. In our opinion, 'Toti' and '20875' are the funnelling accelerants of choice here, blazing noxious exhaust fumes in their similarly speedy future techno wakes.

080 Lounge
Review: Chunky, cheeky minimal house and techno from Murmurations signee Leo Christopher, based between London and Leeds. Stretching his time between DJing, remixes and original productions - there's a very special Leviticus' 'Burial' remix floating about the ether-net somewhere - one can sense that Leo carefully plans his many productions for a wide variety of impromptu situations. 'Decorated' and 'One In The Groin' each bring humoured but ultimately deep shuffles to the dance, the latter track especially proving "garagey" enough to cater to any given proverbial Room 2. The B strips things back to dubbier territory, with the Delilah collab serving hollowed-out vocals, and '080 Lounge' depositing carefully placed bongo hits and chords across a clacking rollage.

Review: The 23rd flight from the Pilot label run by Burnski is a future-facing blend of tech, disco and house with a real intergalactic aesthetic. 'It's Your Duty' opens with a grinding bassline and snappy drums that soon get you marching, then 'Save Our Planet' (dub) spins out with some silky celestial melodies and twitchy drum funk. 'Nothing To Hide' glistens with some sci-fi charm as the tight drums and bulbous bassline move things onwards, and 'Strolling The River' shuts down with another disco-tech sound that is lit up with sugar melodies and boogie motifs.
