Review: The seminal Sabresonic from UK trio Sabres of Paradise gets a tight remaster and re-issue here, and what a magnificent snapshot of the halcyon days of UK raving it is. Considering the personnel behind the project (Andrew Weatherall, Jagz Kooner, and Gary Burns), it's of little surprise that the music has lost none of its cutting edge - still sounding as fresh and pointed as it did upon first release in 1994. Known for their unique blend of electronic, dub, and rock influences, the band carved out a space that felt both experimental and accessible, and it would be hard to overstate their lasting influence on modern electronic music. Sabresonic stretches from hypnotic grooves to raw, industrial textures, with moments of beauty scattered throughout. 'Wilmot' is a standout, with driving percussion and atmospheric layers, while 'Spiritual High' offers a more expansive, drifting vibe. But it's 'Smokebelch II (Beatless mix)' that's likely to bring a tear to the eye of even the most hardened dancefloor veteran, with its bittersweet lead melody and celestial harmonics combining to create a timeless piece of ambient bliss. They don't make 'em like they used to, kid.

Review: Ludvig Cimbrelius, a multi-alias artist donning other guises Alveol, Eternell, and Rust, reserves the Purl name for his more ambient, dubby techno creations. After a goosebump-inducing debut on the British Columbia-based Silent Season label in 2010 with Deep Ground, Stillpoint marked his first release with them in five years, following a series of records on Dewtone and Post Global. Now again reissued on vinyl ten years later, Stillpoint inflects balmy dub soundscapes and dewey techno sweats, evoking tearful rain shadows and humid canopies. Like a hidden biome where ethereal animals graze and gambol, the ambient sound-world evoked through 'Inre Sken' and 'Melora' is truly something else. Review: Originally released in 1993 and finally being reissued now, this techno gem stands as a bold and exploratory debut that merges the pulse of Detroit techno with the UK's rich multicultural sonic landscape. The UK trio Jamie Bissmire, Lucien Thompson and John O'Connell channeled the spirit of early techno pioneers while weaving in dub, tribal rhythms, trance atmospheres and UK rave culture, creating a distinct, genre-defying sound. Tracks like 'Messenger' and 'Pacekeeper' shows their rhythmic intensity, with rolling basslines and echo-laden percussion that nod to both dub and techno traditions. 'Revelation' floats into ambient techno territory with celestial synths, while 'Earth 6' hints at what Goa trance might have sounded like had it taken cues from Detroit rather than industrial sounds. 'Better Nation' has a mesmerising rework from none other than Carl Craig, lending his Detroit touch to Bandulu's already genre-fluid sound. The album's opener, 'Guidance', blends tribal percussion, progressive structure and a mammoth bassline into something uniquely its own. Though the production bears the unmistakable marks of early 90s UK techno with its raw and experimental sounds, it's precisely this era-specific charm that gives Guidance its enduring appeal.

Review: Organic Analogue returns with a rediscovery of Beppu's rare dubbed-out electronica and circuit-bent techno. Andrew Hargreaves is the Manchester-based producer behind this alias which was first making waves back in the late-2000s. Back then it was three limited CDr EPs in 2009, which came with just 50 copies each, that made a stir and still stand up today. As such, the sought-after recordings receive a proper vinyl pressing and have been mastered by Miles Whittaker. Two distinct remixes from Demdike Stare also add further quality and contemporary context to the origins, which blend dub techno and braindance with textured noise. IPOP continues Organic Analogue's tradition of spotlighting overlooked talent having already done so with names like DJ Guy and Jean-Louis Huhta.

Review: Eager to contrast his music to "a sea of disposable cookie-cutter music", sonic Chicago singularity Hieroglyphic Being is given a exalting debut on Mathematics with 'The Sound Of Something', providing an extra pharaoh's prayer after his most recent avant-garde self-release, 'An Era Of Spiritual Tenebrae'. A dozen dramas extend over what sound like alt-futuristic house tracks with pyramided spires lopped off the top; the sonic equivalent of sunk relief symbols in sandstone. Increasingly irreverent as it progresses, 'Track 9' and 'Track 7' can be marked out as the weirdo highlights, relishing artifactual mud, stodgy fidelity.

Review: Swedien's Adam Beyer returns with eight new tracks, his first full-length collection in over two decades. The sequencing folds in recent collaborators while staying rooted in the clean, functional techno that's long defined his output. 'Taking Back Control' opens with a tightly programmed groove, minimal in arrangement but tuned for high-impact play. 'Alto', co-produced with Layton Giordani, pushes into more melodic territory with airy synth leads offset by a hard-edged rhythm section. 'Explorer' and 'Desolate Lands' - the latter with Chris Avantgarde - maintain a linear structure, with subtle modulations and atmospheric textures. On side C, 'Loca' (with Julian Jeweil) drives the tempo higher but keeps effects restrained, followed by the solo cut 'Boundless', which leans slightly darker in tone. 'Hypnotic', a collaboration with HNTR featuring vocals from Kyozo, edges toward big-room styling without slipping into excess. Closer 'The Distance Between Us' finishes on a more expansive note, with a wide stereo field and loosely arranged elements. It's a measured update rather than a reinvention - consistent, clean, and executed with intent.

Review: BPitch return with the eighth instalment of its We Are Not Alone series, a 12-tracker set to reproduce the hard gurns routinely incurred by its namesake party. Unkept to a single lane, the compilation skims techno, electro, breaks and beyond, like a perfectly flat slate on easily perturbable water. With the yoke steered as ever by Ellen Allien, Part 8 reads less like a manifesto and more like a snapshot of the household Berlin imprint's extended circle: a mix of familiar names and rising figures, be that Endlec, Vuuduu, Madwoman, Shaleen or Boston 168, all tuned into the same low-frequency hum. Our fave has to be Diana May, who seizes the lighthouse bulb with 'Just Shut The F*** Up', pedalling up the velocity with clipped aggro.

Review: Fuss and fluff are thrown by the wayside on 'More Water', hearing Sub Basics (Tom Wood) and Witch Trials (formerly of the label MYRYRS) join forces for a new collaboration on Temple Of Sound. Sleek, unfussy dub techno, and yet still unafraid of wetness past the knees, the likes of 'November', 'Technique' and 'Liquify' are seriously well simmered slammers, their projectile chords and wide multichannel drums lending themselves a firmer than firm sectional density, with a mean hardness rivalling that of chromium. Only the B-side dares step into ricketier territory, with '4AM' and 'Morning Meltdown' increasingly conveying that hanging-by-a-thread feeling all to familiar to the early hours floor fiends among us.

Review: In a style all his own - just one remove from stuttery trancehall, muffled cyber-topia - Nick Leon helps review his home Miami scene, offering a fresh perspective on the otherwise all-go party locale he's known from childhood. Audiovisually we hear Miami boardwalks, spraying seafronts and needly skyscrapers reimagined as threads on a silvery veil, as his take on locally informant styles (Latinx dembow and reggaeton most notably) hears him reimagine these apparently permanent holdings as mere ghost silks laid by a chance spinneret. Inspired in part by Joan Didion's book Miami (1987) as well as personal experiences with altered states of consciousness both chemical and sleep-deprived, tracks like 'Ghost Orchid', 'Bikini' and 'Hexxxuss' un-volve like spidery sleeperpop blears, and they're over just before you can grasp them.
