Review: Featuring the impressive talents of Yolanda, who has previously appeared alongside the likes of Massive Attack and Bugz in the Attic, "Daddio" is a no holds barred dancefloor assault with equal parts dirty funk and grinding vocal melodies. This package comes with some heavy-hitting remixes from the likes of Trevor Lovey and Miles Dyson. Don't miss this 30hz release on Lot 49.

Akamoi - "Little Black Box"
Ynaktera - "Three Phase"
El Cosmonauta - "7K-OK (A)"
Mariano - "Mysterious Way"
Ghostphace - "Rome Boredom"
Scual - "The Fade Of John Gray"
Review: Stochastic Resonance come through correct with their sixth instalment of the series, this time bringing together the talents of Akamoi, Ynaktera, Cosmonauta, Mariano, Ghostphace and Scual for a proper stirring of the senses on this noisy, drone-laden beat of an EP. Akamoi starts with furious swells on morphing feedback soundscapes, while Ynaktera goes for a pixelated sample workout recalling Pan's Jar Moff. Mariano's "Mysterious Ways" sets the dance tempo, amalgamating a twisted, slightly off beat pattern with bleeps and stabs and "Rome Boredom" by Ghostphace is another special moment - quick, psychotic synths fall into an absolutely terrifying ocean of distortion and satanic noise infusions. What a blinder!

Alena - "Changes" (Ron Basejam remix)
Yam Who? - "I'm In Love" (feat Natasha Watts)
PBR Streetgang - "J2ThaB"
Brothers Young - "Inferno"
Review: Yam Who?'s ISM label come through with a four track slice of disco centric Futurism, featuring the man Yam himself alongside PBR Streetgang and Ron Basejam. It's the latter who takes the lead with a remix of Alena's "Changes" that sees her sultry vocal teased by a most excellent of analogue synth leads that splurges brilliantly across the crisp mid tempo chug. Yam Who? teams up with vocalist Natasha Watts for the similarly bottom heavy bump of "I'm In Love" which has a certain warehouse appeal to it. On the flip, PBR pay respect to the godfather of soul James Brown with the gritty flex of "J2thaB" with the sadly departed Mr Brown strangely sounding at times like he wants to go to Tesco. We always took him for a Waitrose man, but regardless this is probably the track you'll reach for most! Finally Brothers Young do their thing to a Trammps classic, with little more than the bassline retained. Big tip!

Ancronix - "Shifting Basics"
Yamas - "KO OK"
Source Unknown - "Shimanu"
Riotbot - "Soul Harvest"
Review: A massive hard techno/schranz sampler which will be huge in no time. We start of with "Shifting Basics" by Ancronix. Banging kick drums and furious drum patterns combined with mighty hoover sounds make this an ultimate party pounder for the masses! Then we find "KO OK" by Yamas, who are a techno collective from Denmark. These men present a speedy hard techno tune which will be highly appreciated! On the flip we have "Simanu" by Source Unknown. Filthy kicks & a sick melody line drive this track to an ultimate climax which does serious damage on all hard floors. Last but not least is "Soul Harvest" by Riotbot who presents a bit more hypnotising piece of hard techno work. All of this is brought on white vinyl! Another top release which already receives heavy DJ support so get your stock in now!!

No Easy Game (7:55)
Show A Little Love (7:18)
Review: Notorious Patrick Andy gem 'No Easy Game' gets a pressing on 10" vinyl here and is backed with 'Show a Little Love' on the flip side. The production throughout is super crisp from Yabby You production and with Tommy McCook leading the horns you cannot go wrong with this one. 'No Easy Game' is long for a reggae tune at almost eight minutes of lush drums and bass combos with classic reggae vox up top. Flip it over and there is a slightly more upbeat tune with tambourines, acoustic guitars and those irresistible horns.

Review: Pressure Sounds continue to champion the legacy of the mighty Vivian Jackson, otherwise known as Yabby You. On this occasion, they're looking to a cut with Patrick Andy on vocals which has never before been pressed to vinyl. Andy recorded many tunes with Jackson over the years, but this ranks up there with the best, and the dub mix on the flip is no joke either. After all, it was mixed at King Tubby's, no less. With Tommy McCook leading the horn section, the credentials rank high on this essential 7".

Vlad Arapasu - "Osc2" (8:18)
Yama Music - "Ends Meat" (7:01)
Frazer Campbell - "How Hard Can It Be" (6:01)
OddMann - "Spazziale" (5:44)
Review: The Yama Music label is slowly but surely building a fantastic discography. It has taken five years to get to release number six, but each one has always been worth the wait. This Various Artists collection sees the crew expand its roster with the likes of London's Frazer Campbell bringing his perfectly reduced and rolling dub techno sounds to 'How Hard Can It Be.' OddMann's 'Spazziale' is another dub heavy joint, but one with a slower tempo that encourages you to sink in deep and enjoy zoning out. Elsewhere, 'Osc2' is all about a brilliantly bulbous bassline that never stops evolving, and the Yama Music crew offer a rock solid, jacked up house cut full of muscularity.

Maki Asakawa - "Hohi Hitotsu" (3:34)
Yasuhiro Abe - "Night Fish" (5:47)
Review: Both of these funk gems are taken from a cult compilation Trans Groove Express, which explored the sounds of Express Records and was assembled by MURO. Fourth Wave now serve them up on a superb 7", starting with Maki Asakawa. 'Hohi Hitotsu' is a delightfully gentle and subtle dub with funky guitars adding movement while the sultry vocal soars. Yasuhiro Abe's 'Night Fish' is a brighter and more retro 80s soul and boogie sound with glowing chords and snappy hits. The Japanese language vocal is emotive enough to mean plenty without understanding the meaning of the words.

Moth Beatz (3:19)
Review: UK IDM duo Steve Rutter and Michael Golding aka B12 continue on with their new found winning streak and another brilliant release on their FireScope imprint. "In Vain" features Yonii's sultry vocals accompanied a minimal and bass heavy arrangement that calls to mind the 'grey area' experiments by the Autonomic crew several years back while also on the A side we've got the lush dark ambient journey "Shotgun" which perfect compliments the vibe of this vocalist's truly amazing vocal range. On the flip "Sympathy Beatz" deconstructs UK bass music with subtle pop-inflections much like dBridge did some time ago on this catchy number while "Moth Beatz" distills the A side track into its essence brilliantly.

Acid Daze
Review: Alan Barratt climbs on board with Evasive and brings with him new production partner, Yann Solo. (Not to be confused with the intergalactic space smuggler with a similar name.) Highly acclaimed DJ and producer Alan Barratt is no stranger to creating top notch productions and some of the quality labels he has already released with include End Recordings, Red Ant, Plastic City, Eukatech and Royal Drums. Alan is well known for his work with Tony Thomas as "The Producers", however his studio sparring partner on this 3-track foray for Evasive is the Parisian born and bred Yann Solo who has been DJing at some of the top clubs and underground parties in Paris whilst also honing his production skills for the past few years. Yann is definitely a name to watch out for, with material also lined up for future release on both Mastiksoul's 4Kenzo label, and DJ Linus's Exun imprint. Alan & Yann team up to deliver three firing cuts "Number Two", "In A Flash" and "Acid Daze". All 3 tracks are slick productions already receiving heavy rotation with club and airplay from all the top boys and girls.

Review: Needs' commendable charity drive continues to bring forth the goods, both in terms of good causes and world class club music. Rallying round in support of World Mental Health Day 2020, Shanti Celeste kicks the record off in style with the rapid fire, deep-diving workout 'Fantasma'. OCB keeps the pressure up with the psychotropic techno of 'RS3', while Michelle works up some delightfully freaky synths on playful jacker 'Aesthetic'. Bobby's 'Free Your Mind' is a 90s-tinged, full fat techno production indebted to Detroit, Peder Mannerfelt keeps things stripped and raw on 'Our Levels' and Yu Su weaves a beautiful tapestry of interweaving rhythms on 'Brittney'. Adam Pits' trippy techno sounds resplendent on 'Wind Tunnel' and DJ Sports completes the set with the inventive, dembow slanted funk of 'Needs Dub'.

Review: More oddball grooves from the always reliable Multi Culti camp out of Montreal. Thomas Von Party has curated another fine collection of tracks on the second installment of Axial Tilt: Solstice featuring Philadelphian duo Zillas On Acid giving the remix treatment to Sheila Chandra on the slo-mo psychedelia of 'Raqs', while Mexico's Inigo Vontier goes global, incorporating didgeridoo, sitar and world beats on the entrancing 'Timbale' (Makale mix). On side B, Sababa 5 & Yurika provide what's undoubtedly the stand out track on here with the uplifting 'Nasnusa' (Kino Todo & Danelz remix) and Golden Bug goes down into the cosmic hole on the druggy and low slung 'Toro'.

Review: It's ten up for the cultured hose label No Fuss here and they hit the milestone in style with underground Michele Chiavarini and his Jazz Codes project. Their innovative 'Jazz Was Dancing' has a monologue about jazz over jazzy keys and live-sounding jazz drums so in a word, it's jazzy. Saison adds some more bumping drums and swinging grooves to their remix and on the flip, Japan's Yuichi Inoue offers a deep house sound that also explores jazz, but in a more seductive way on 'A Night In The Room.' Sebb Junior's 'As One' is last up and slows things down with a more sensuous late-night sound full of heart.

Review: A UK hip-hop institution, DJ MK has contributed more to the home-grown rap scene than almost any other DJ you'd care to mention. He manages to find the time to perform as tour DJ for Roots Manuva, host a weekly hip-hop show on London's Kiss FM, and represent his crew The Extended Players (alongside Mr Thing, Harry Love and Shortee Blitz) before you even begin to look at his constantly hectic club touring schedule. His long-standing mix tape series has influenced virtually every British hip-hop DJ, and he's worked with every UK rapper that counts.
For his long-overdue first legal mix CD "Above Board" for Antidote Records, MK has pulled in every possible favour to gather a collection of exclusive tracks from the likes of Skinnyman, Roots Manuva, Rodney P, Kyza & Pyrelli, Yungun & Mr Thing, & Ransom Badbonez & Harry Love. The result is an expertly mixed showcase of everything British hip-hop has to offer in 2006, and is bound to go down as an essential document of the scene in years to come.

This track is the kind of trippy and atmospheric slow burner that you could imagine label boss Damien Lazarus playing during the final hours of one of his legendary Burning Man sets. Who better to get in for a remix than Ibadan main man Jerome Sydenham for the high octane "Ibadan vocal dub" or the slightly more restrained "Ibadan Deepstrumental". The mysterious Johnny Aux lends a hand on the remix too giving the track a dusty and tunnelling deep techno remix, sounding like early Fred P, not bad!

A Made Up Sound - "Track 4" (10:15)
Review: The House Of Web is a new project that brings together music with a range of international origins across two EPs. They feature material originally by Takuya Sogimoto on this label in 2020 and 2022 as well as some unreleased cuts from 1994 and 1995. Dynamo Dreesen & Robotron go first as Dynatron ahead of a debut solo EP on SUED that is due soon. Then comes Dresvn aka Dynamo Dreesen & SVN, YPY aka Koshiro Hino from Osaka and a member of the Japanese band Goat, plus the next level beat maker A Made Up Sound. All four of these cuts offer superbly fresh takes on techno.

Review: Croatian duo Eddy Meets Yannah are no strangers to the Compost empire and their return to the Compost Black sub label sees tracks from the duo's recent album "Fiction Jari"remixed by some serious house heads. Rainer Truby teams up with Danilo Plessow aka Motor City Drum Ensemble to transform "This Is Love" into a late night jam replete with excellent vocal effects. The same track is given a sparkling jazzy house gloss by Restless Soul type Bopstar. On the flip "Follow Me" gets a squelching tropical house retouch from Dominican producer Ezel.

Ceephax, Cylob, Syntheme, Yuri Lewitt and Luke Vibert need no introduction. United on this record to celebrate the magi
vibe of acid, each of them with their own personality. When we thought we had seen it all, this piece of wax goes a step
further then your usual acid; it's more than a compilation, it's a modern acid manifesto. This is Acid.

Hermanez - "MI25"
Moya (US) - "Meliora"
Review: Satya deals in a certain brand of deep house that is dreamy and organic. It's perfect for the cosier dancefloors out there, the more heady crowds who don't need big drops and samples to get their musical thrills. If you are one of those people then get your ears around this superb new various artists 12". YokoO & Zone+ offer one of the standouts with 'Once I Had It"]' which pairs subtly swirling pads with cuddly deep drum loops. Hermanez has his kickstand with a little more weight but they are no less hypnotic, while Moya (US) brings some enchanting strings and yawning vocals to 'Meliora' and Electricano keeps it nice and warm and liquid with the supple loops of 'Universal Language.'

Yuanist Woods, whose provided vocals for DJ Fudge, Rufuss and Master H, provides the inspirational tones for this masterpiece of a production. An instrumental and acappella are included, as well as a second more ambient uplifting rub. The original mix has a dope Soulfuric vibe.

Review: "Snow Blind Avalanche" is a completely different album compared with "A Rock In The Snow" also being released on Important though the two records were made during the same sessions. This vinyl only release is limited to 1000 copies with the first 200 on snow-white vinyl. Artwork by C Spencer Yeh. Liner notes from Wolf Eyes brother John Olson aka Johnny Coors. The Flaherty/Corsano/Yeh power trio have emerged on album with a dual format/dual release for Important. "Snow Blind Avalanche" finds the Flaherty/Corsano/Yeh in more abstract free dimensions with Yeh's presence in the sound even more firmly established. Recorded as the snow fell. No overdubs. Live in studio. Free-noise-punk-jazz with bent-sick-burning vocals. Amen.

FLP & DNI - "Party Girl (Toma 2)" (feat YVN)
Sam Clarence - "I've Got Soul"
Charly Deloin - "Joker 1"
Dora - "Who's Pimping Who"
Review: Remake Musique's original and almost humorous label approach is back again for their ninth vinyl release that sees four well known artists contributing pretty much whatever they feel like behind a veil of disguise! As usual, Remake goes for dancefloor killers, upbeat house and disco tracks that scream of good vibes. "Party Girl" from FLP & DNI featuring YVN is just that with sexy vocal snippets, a hooky bassline and plenty of floor breaking opportunities. Sam Clarence and "I've Got Soul" go for a more techy feel with strong kicks and up tempo beats. Flip over and Charly Deloin's "Joker 1" plucks groggy guitar strings and rapid hats into a comical and sexy female house vox. The highlight of Remake 009 goes to Dora though, with "Who's Pimping Who". A really original cut, it intelligently mixes hip-hop, funk, disco and house music in a most insouciant way.

Grey Matters
Review: Yukihiro Fukutomi is perhaps the most lauded Japanese electronic artist and has been gaining plaudits since the mid 90s for his own particular brand of house music. Ewan Pearson was so moved by Fukutomi's 2009 cover version of Marshall Jefferson's "Open Our Eyes" that it featured on his heavyweight mix for Kompakt. That cover version should not be confused with "Open Your Eyes", the A Side on this classy excursion into vintage Chicago sounds from Fukutomi under his Foog alias. It's a brilliantly acid tinged retro jacker that builds and dips in all the right places, with the mid section roll of crashing hi-hats a particular delight."Grey Matters" adopts a similarly future retro sound on the B Side with KiNK-esque 808s aplenty.

Puritan - "Whitesnake" (6:18)
Review: The second Murder Records EP is another uncompromising collection of brutalist techno. The Tbilisian label enlists Fractions & Zanias to open up with a stormy flurry of synths and frosted drums then Alessandro Adriani layers up more mechanical drums that demand you march while the brine frying synths melt your mind up top. Years of Denial then looks to EBM for its inspiration on 'Reverie' with deadpan vocals and haunting cold wave synths. This is caustic and coruscated stuff from start to finish that is best heard loud, in a super blackened and raw space.

Review: The cultured ESHU label has pulled other some more tasteful talents for this four track 'Conrexture' EP. It opens up with Julien Fuentes's 'Jah Justice' (Klaridub Ambient mix) which is a nice atmospheric opener with some conscious dub mutterings and sci-fi pads. Jocelyn & Yasin Engwer then kick on with some watery, sub-aquatic minimal dub tech bliss in the form of 'Sticks & Stones', Voal gets even more dark and dirty with some grubby dub basslines on 'Eight Ball' and Ivano Tetelepta/Christine Benz layer up watery droplets, melodic whistles, static electricity and rubbery rhythms to mind-melting perfection on 'Supreme.'

Review: The regular cast of characters to be found lurking round Pressed For Time knock heads over some no-nonsense groovesome house music for those who like a kink in their party selections. Goshawk lead the charge with the tough yet soulful "Mozambique (Dub Chord)", using some choice keys and vocal samples to create a warm mood over the top of the chunky drums. Rhythm Plate turn the funk up and smooth out proceedings with undulating pads and string stabs before Shaka strides in on the flip with an impeccable slice of boogie-infused good time house music. YSE rounds the EP off with a peppy workout sprinkled with playful leads and a tightly wound beat.
