Review: Stockholm-based multi-instrumentalist and composer Art Longo impresses here with Echowah Island, a new album sure to wind its way into your affections. It was crafted over years in his home studio and is "psychotropical pop" drawing deep inspiration from late 80s music and dub. The album's lush soundscape evokes orange sunsets and ocean breezes and is layered with spring reverb, space echo and wah-wah effects that smooth out the edges as the steady pulse of vintage drum machines moves things on down low. A standout feature is Claudio Jonas, whose ethereal vocals recall classic French femme fatale singers of the 60s. Her poetic, kaleidoscopic lyrics add to a nostalgic dream world that gently bends reality and makes his both escapist and thought-provoking.

Review: After deciding to sidestep off-kilter bass music bangers in favour of exploring the more experimental side of his musical personality, Jim Coles AKA Om Unit has seen his career get a deserved bump. At the heart of this transformation has been the superb Acid Dub Studies series of albums, which here reaches its third and final instalment. Like its predecessors, Acid Dub Studies III offers an enticing mix of weighty digi-dub 'riddims', deeply psychedelic TB-303 trickery, boisterous dub-leaning bass music grooves, trippy effects aplenty and some of the most immersive sound design around. Yet while there are some genuinely weighty and forthright dancefloor moments - see the rugged 'The Chase', bouncy 'Hungry World' and steppas-powered 'Usurper' - Coles also finds space for warmer and more loved-up excursions, with the gorgeous 'Lost & Found' standing out.

Review: Rico Rodriguez, all-round brilliant Jamaican horn and and trombonist, played a pivotal role in shaping the sound of ska, rocksteady and reggae. Born in Kingston in 1934, he began his career in the 1950s then joined the Skatalites in the early 1960s, and whether one chalks this lucky break up to birthrights, shrewd decisions or chance sliding door moments is up to the historian. But his talent cannot be denied: over the years, Rico worked with Toots And The Maytals, Bob Marley, and The Specials. His masterful trombone solos lent parping bombast to a scene which abhorred tinniness, and the Man From Wareika album exemplified this. This dub edition is a crucial pre-release dub edition from the 1976 classic, in which we hear a full instrumental brass-and-bass dive-bombing across nine formerly unreleased Island Records trinkets.

Review: Swedish duo Studio's debut album, a groundbreaking fusion of Balearic textures, Krautrock grooves and post-punk aesthetics gets a reissue here, nearly two decades on from its initial release in 2006. The hazy, expansive production feels perfectly at home on this format, with the "fog" vinyl subtly matching the hazy warmth and depth of the pair's intricate arrangements. From the shimmering guitar lines that drift through the opener to the hypnotic rhythms that define the album's centrepieces, every element is given space to resonate by Dan Lissvik and Rasmus Hagg. Choice.

Review: This remarkable collection of mid-70s reggae captures legendary deejay U Roy at his most intimate and authentic, toasting exclusively for the King Attorney Hi-Fi sound system. Originally crafted as dubplates rather than commercial releases, these tracks are a time capsule from the golden age of Jamaican dancehalls. U Roy's charismatic flow, filled with shout-outs and jive, rides effortlessly over heavyweight rhythms recorded by The Revolutionaries at Channel One. With rich dubs from the Mighty Diamonds' Right Time and updated classics like 'Ali Baba' and 'Swell Headed', this is a joyous, immersive listen and an essential document of reggae's deep cultural roots.

Review: With standout tracks from proper legends like Barrington Levy, Delroy Wilson, Dillinger, The Mighty Diamonds, Yellowman and more, Reggae Anthology: The Channel One Story is an essential compilation chronicling one of Jamaica's most influential studios during its most famous golden era. Plenty of historic moments are included such as the country's first 12-inch maxi-single release (The Jays & Ranking Trevor's 'Truly Deejay Mix') and 'Queen Majesty,' a soul-drenched reggae rework of a Curtis Mayfield classic. Also included are extended cuts and rich production which means this anthology celebrates Channel One's lasting impact on reggae history with a little extra insight than you might have already heard.
