Today METACONFORMER supports 3 modes of processing MIDI messages:
Splitter mode allows you to split the keyboard of one MIDI channel into several zones. Notes from each zone are sent to only one instrument. This allows you to simultaneously play several instruments at once, listen to the interaction of timbres without having to switch the MIDI channel.
Combiner mode allows you to combine several monophonic instruments into one multitimbral polyphonic instrument. This works the same way as a polyphonic synthesizer's algorithm when it activates its voices. Only instead of voices with the same dynamics and parameters, you can play completely different timbres, which greatly expands the possibilities for creating interesting harmonies and rhythms.
Translator mode allows you to play the sound core parameter by pressing notes. Each received note is translated into a CC message corresponding to the desired parameter. Review: It's rather hard to nail the Halloween dance vibe and yet also keep things light and jumpy, but the latest 'Out Of The Crypt' V/A compilation by the sweet folks over at Spooky Wooky have done just that. In fact, they're an entire label dedicated to the cartoon vampire-batty, kitsch smiling pumpkinned, brains-starved nuts-and-bolts-Frankenstein'ed theme: the propulsive monster-mashes therein are just as wicked and weird, with opener 'Je Suis Dans La Nuit' deploying reflective eskimo synths and crepuscular bass progressions; Phase O'Matic's 'Diskotech' making use of raw, flitty bleep leads and dead-of-night screams; and Lazer Man's 'Ozonar 12' opting for hollowed-out dub techno stabs and slinky minimal movements down below.

She didn't like how sexualised her vocal had become next to the iconic synths sounds. No such problem with this album which has much morels and orchestra sound on the lavish opener and title cut. It's an epic, 16-minute plus track that takes up one whole side, while the flip side tunes re slow and sentimental ('Full Of Emptiness'), disco-tinged and funky fresh ('Need-a-man Blues') and beautifully tender lullabies ('Whispering Waves'.)

Review: Soul-Direction Records recently had huge success with the release of the Decisions' 'We're In Love/I Love You' and now follow it up with another vital 45rpm after a conversation with Numero who gave their permission. As such this is the only 7" vinyl release of 'P's and Q's' and its instrumental version. These tracks were part of the quartet from Washington DC's recordings with DC International. The band generated plenty of local buzz but never quite got the major label deal they craved. On these evidence of these two, though, they should have. 'P's & Q's' is lively and funky work, with heart-melting vocals and super smooth grooves.

The classic piece - in a historically early version without lyrics - opens the album Paradiso Amsterdam 1970, which demonstrates how the Netherlands was first introduced to Afrofuturism - a pivotal moment in the Dutch jazz experience. It was always thought that the recordings of the long-awaited first concert that the Sun Ra Arkestra gave in the Netherlands were useless for an album release; after all, the entire Arkestra, booked by Hans Dulfer, marched among the massive crowd at pop temple Paradiso on 18 November 1970. As was their custom, they were rarely on stage where the microphones were neatly set up. Here, the Nederlands Jazz Archief trace the complete set of recorded tapes and compile an album on which the atmosphere of 53 years ago is made tangible once again.

All good things must come to an end, though, and so it does with The Sun Ra Arkestra meets Salah Ragab in Egypt which was recorded with help from the Cairo Jazz Band and first put out back in 1983 on Greek label Praxis. The Arkestra first met Salah Ragab at the home of Goethe Institut ex-pat Hartmut Geerken when they toured the island in December 1971 and later bonded again in 1983. It was then that they got together for these recordings where they played Ragab compositions, 'Egypt Strut' and 'Dawn' amongst others.

Review: Sweely is one of the strongest producers in the European house scene for almost a decade now. This house wizard from Lyon, France has made the rounds on some of the most acclaimed labels during that time. In late 2022 he released his first album Closer Energy. The album is still consistently wowing people and even peers of Sweely. So much so that this EP is now here with key tracks from that release being mixed by artist friends who also are loving the album. Review: A veteran of the scene, Jeremy Sylvester makes an unprecedented appearance on a relatively new local label, Timeisnow, for a wicked new five-track speed garage selection. 'Flashback' is led by the track '90s Man', which lays claim to an identity couched in a certain time and exposes the direction of the EP to come - knocking rims and deep Reeses dance about a criss-crossing 4x4 speed beat like carefully-slotted pegs in holes, as a grainy but stylish image of a sunshaded selector is conjured in our heads (and on the record cover). The title track, followed shortly by 'In The Morning', evoke nostalgic visions of a beachside rave that ekes heavy into the morning, at least transgressing the 10am range.

T Recs has pressed up these two house cuts on alluring green wax and riddled them with big samples.
