Paul Boex - "Hate Is Love" (Oscar Mulero remix)
Paul Boex - "Hate Is Love"
Paul Boex - "Cybersluts"
Oscar Mulero - "Iron Curtain"
Review: The Dynamic Reflection team deliver another storming release of pounding techno with "Hate is Love." This time it comes from none other than label boss, Paul Boex and his biggest influence, the ever active Oscar Mulero.

Recent releases for his own Warm Up Recordings label have seen Mulero kill dancefloors the world over.
Now, he comes to Paul Boex’s imprint to open this release with a remix of the Dutchman's "Hate is Love." His version flies straight off the mark with a pounding beat and frantic, high pitched synth stabs. It effortlessly builds tension and drama as it progresses before a breakdown lures all the sound beneath a still driving 4/4 beat. Inevitably though, Mulero reinstates the noise, turning "Hate is Love" into a true, peak time smasher. I suppose we can expect nothing less from this man by now. Following the Spaniard’s remix is Paul Boex’s original. Still a thumping techno track, the original effort feels more reserved than the remix due to in no small part, a beautiful soundscape that lingers in the background throughout the entire tune. It gives the track an epic feel, taking you on a wonderful, dream-like journey of moods and atmospheres. Returning to some highly energised techno, Boex delivers the jacking "Cybersluts" next on the schedule. Synth jabs, FX, jaunting basslines and the customary driving beat make this a full body shaking, sub-human alien. "Iron Curtain" is even more alien, spacing wailing synths far out into the depths as high end percussion snaps in the foreground. A truly futuristic sound palette emerges on this techno wig out, proving that Boex can go blow for blow with his inspiration, Oscar Mulero.

Mistress Special Release EP 1
Cat: MISTRESS 096 1. Rel: 16 Apr 18
Border One - "Curve" (6:13)
Doubt - "Just Pain" (6:32)
Maan - "Vert" (4:55)
Oscar Mulero - "Drops" (5:51)
Review: DVS1's Mistress imprint acts as a side label to his main label Hush and is focused just as much on house as it is techno and everything in between. Upon first glance, it's pretty evident that these are some fairly austere techno tools for the second edition in his Mistress Special Release - why else rein in Madrid's master mentalist Oscar Mulero for the bleak, tunnel vision of "Drops". Border One (Form & Function/Invites Choice) appears with the chime-driven hypnotism of "Curve" which just so happened to appear on the label head honcho's recent Fabric mix, and Spaniard Maan (more commonly known as Psyk) serves up some rather Robert Hood sounding bleep minimalism on "Doubt".

Review: A grubby-dubby "Rundoled" by Forward Strategy Group opens up Part II of Perc Trax vs Pole Group's ongoing collaboration series, sharing A-side space with Spanish duo Exuim, and their gloaming, Abdullah Rashim-like "Raw Visions". Pole Group's number one, Oscar Mulero, provides "Blackstar", a track that combines Surgeon-style grittiness with the big notes of Function, while Manni Dee, fresh off his two Black Sun Records EPs and the deep dub-steppy Being And Nothingness release, dons a Perc Trax uniform for the first time with the eerie techno slab "Serenity".

Kessell - "Time Domain" (5:11)
Review: Faut Section's Perception Series is back with a second sizzling installment of freshly made techno. Lewis Fautzi & Norbak pair off to open up with 'Code Of Deception', a barreling cut with icy hi hats and taught bass twangs full of dusty factory floor menace. Oscar Mulero offers one of his signature loop-techno rollers in 'Zw System' Temudo then rattles walls with the mysterious bass rumbles of 'Niiv'. Completing what is an EP that is as varied as it is vital is Kessell with the dubby broken techno beats of 'Time Domain' which has fizzing synths cracking like static on a 90s TV screen.

Monic - "Habits" (Monic version)
Oscar Mulero - "Habits" (Oscar Mulero version)
Killawatt - "Habits" (Killawatt version)
Amorce - "Habits" (Amorce version)
Review: Osiris's penchant for dark, unrelenting techno is nearing 'addict' level... Serving it up in the same uncompromising way it's cooked up dub science for years, the merge into this parallel pasture is natural, organic and pretty darned exciting. Following from their "Open Water" project, four of their artists take on the same anonymous source material and give it their own twist. The end result is a quad of killer rolling techno joints. From the distorted radar pings and lapping, bobbing rhythm of Amorce's version to the plain paranoia of Killawatt's version, Osiris's creatures of "Habits" aren't showing any signs of signing up to rehab soon. And we, for one, applaud this.

Aroma De Falso Amor (5:46)
Poisonality (5:34)
Iris Malicioso (5:25)
Dos Pequenos Zorros (5:17)
Review: Oscar Mulero has become one of the faces of techno thru many years of hard work and through the growth of a strong discography. With a DJing career now spanning over 35 years, Oscar has thrived regardless of the popularity rise and fall of the techno genre. His Pole Recordings label has been a beacon of light through the tougher times and is shining brighter than ever now. The Poisonality EP is his newest 12". 'Aroma De Falso Amo' is a foreboding builder that offers a unique rhythm and plenty of tension while the title track is a tribal groover like the kinds he is so well known for composing. Fans of Birmingham techno should especially like 'Iris Malicioso' which reminds us of Neil Landstrumm and Regis styled techno. 'Dos Pequenos Zorros' is a relentless pounder that should do damage by any DJ having the opportunity to melt faces off dancers faces. Oscar Mulero gives us four very strong techno tracks on this one EP.

Review: ***B-STOCK: Record ever so slightly warped, but otherwise in perfect working order***

Spanish techno legend Oscar Mulero presents the second installment of Warm Up's limited edition Bandcamp Vinyl series, with three straight up techno tools from a true master of the craft. On 'WUBC 2', feel the mental overdrive of A-side cut "Gradual Blending" which will punish you with its relentless groove, go deeper into the later hours with the more restrained B-side offerings like the hypnotic and strobe-lit gallop of "Evolutionary Decay" or the Millsian majesty of "Natural Resources". Best described by the label itself as 'merciless techno designed to shake minds and feet.'

Review: Spanish techno titan Oscar Mulero is in blistering form here on Polegroup. Theer is real drama and intensity in his tracks that comes from not only the heavy kicks and all-consuming bass, but twisted, turbulent synths that are stretched in all directions. Industrial textures help fry your brain cells, too, all while the grooves drag you onwards into an ever darker night. For our money, 'Gradiente Voltaje' is the standout here with is catering kicks, coarse open hi hats and barrelling dark wave bass. As soon as clubs return, this is the sort of heavy techno tackle we all want to be hearing.

Carnage (5:32)
Spirit Train (5:16)
Titan (5:11)
Elektra (5:16)
Review: Spanish techno champ Oscar Mulero has a well-established relationship with Token, and it figures given both artist and label deal in the kind of gritty, monolithic techno that fells stadiums and detonates festivals. After a three year gap the forces are reunited for the appropriately titled Titan 12", which finds Mulero in searing form. 'Carnage' deals in a blistering salvo of psychoactive synth pulses while 'Spirit Train' burrows in hard with a nightmarish cargo of nerve-jangling frequencies. The title track is a boisterous, acidic affair to accent the peak of any big room set, and 'Elektra' lays down eerie looped phrases and scythe-like drum patterns for precise incisions into your innermost psyche.

Mentally Induced Action (Stainslav Tolkachev remix) (6:16)
Review: Spanish techno titan Oscar Mulero likes to keep himself busy, with the imminent arrival of Muscle & Mind offering fans of his murky and clandestine sound a fourth album in as many years. Dualistic Concept was designed as a partner release for that set, and includes all new versions of album tracks. Mulero handles the A-side, dropping edits and reworks of "Dualistic Concept" (a cowbell-laden romp through ghostly techno territory) and "Mechanical Function" (dark, hypnotic, industrial techno-funk). A couple of friends help him out on the flip, with SHXCXCHCXSH providing a sludgy, crackling - but strangely picturesque - rub of "Muscle & Mind", before Stanislav Tolkachev gets all tribal and intense on his dystopian interpretation of "Mentally Induced Action".

Cave (Tommy Four Seven remix)
Review: Arguably one of Spain's most prolific techno talents, Oscar Mulero returns to the super label PoleGroup with the Electric Storm EP. The title track combines Mulero's trademark throb and reverb-heavy ambience with powerful drums, while "Cave" takes things in an even darker direction, with brittle percussion resonating against reverb-heavy ambience. The remixes aren't too shoddy either; Our Circula Sound boss Sigha delivers a remix of the title track with some prickly yet powerful synth blips, and Tommy Four Seven coats "Cave" with an industrial fuzz and into a broken techno nightmare which will destroy any dancefloor.

Epley Manoeuvre
Gravity
Particle Repositioning
Review: Oscar Mulero knows how to produce a techno record for the techno DJ and this Vertigo 12" is just another fine example of the adroitness the Spaniard exhibits when it comes to crafting deep but bulky club tracks. "Epley Manoeuvre" is this record's main room cut with searing white noise and subtle, alarm-like synths, while a second option for the full dancefloor is "Particle Repositioning", a reverberating production of sleek industrial techno. Between those two is a more subdued but bottom-end heavy "Gravity" which sounds like an liquid version of Silent Servant's earlier music on Historia y Violencia.

To Convince For The Untruth (Lucy remix)
Disinformation (Developer remix)
Intentionally False (Shifted remix)
Review: Oscar Mulero revisits last year's Black Propaganda with some help from some of contemporary techno's biggest names on this essential remix 12". "To Convince For The Untruth" sees Stroboscopic Artefacts boss Lucy take the original's cavernous surroundings and sharpen them up with bitcrushed hi-hats and subtly a rumbling noise floor, while Developer's take on "Disinformation" straightens out the original's breakbeat acid tendencies by soaking its furious synth lines in reverb and hooking everything together with a rolling 4/4 kick. Finally, Shifted's take on "Intentionally False" keeps the measured pace of the original but transplants its thick, bulging frame for a threadbare structure littered it with subtle detail.

Disinformation (Xhin remix)
Black Propaganda (Perc remix)
Disinformation (Orphx remix)
Review: A second round of remixes from Oscar Mulero's Black Propaganda LP of last year which prove to be as unrelenting as the triplet from Shifted, Developer and Lucy that Warm Up brandished on the inaugural 12" a few months ago. Both Xhin and Orphx take on "Disinformation" and whilst Developer's previous take on the track evened out some of the broken kink's of Mulero's original acid soaked production, these new reworks take that rhythmic element as their base and veer off in intense new directions. Sandwiched inbetween, Perc turns in an absolutely frightening remix of "Black Propaganda" implementing some rough industrial textures that seem to rabidly attack the brutalised breakbeat pattern.

Rotula
Rotula (Truncate mix)
Transversal
Transversal (Sleeparchive remix)
Review: Continuing his foray into the pitiless world of pitch-black techno, Oscar Mulero brings the pressure on this latest EP for Developer's Modularz imprint, stepping up to the label's remit for forward-thinking industrial styles. "Rotula" falls slow and heavy, somehow achieving grace even as the unforgiving bottom end thuds out and the hats shudder with nervous energy. Truncate brings a remix that plies a more compacted trade in cyclical techno, less booming but more pointed than the original. On the flip, Mulero's "Transversal" does the damage with a scant list of ingredients, largely dominated by a stuttering square wave bass stab bringing the doom to great effect, while Sleeparchive reacts with a version that brings everything you could want from a Sleeparchive cut; a bleak soundscape devoid of human warmth with a central bleep the only source of light.

Review: Madrid's undisputed master of peak time hypnotic techno returns with some of his finest work lately since "Black Propaganda" a few years ago. The second in the limited Pattern series, this is definitely one to be heard. Second track "Pain" is the real highlight on this one; throbbing and pulsating away in a warped fashion and soon turning violently acidic in a way that would make Mike Parker stand up and notice.

Hyperbolic Paths (5:45)
Suborbital Trajectories (6:06)

Eccentricity (5:06)
Review: It would be fair to say that Oscar Mulero is a techno purist. Over the last 16 years, he's built a solid reputation via 12" singles and albums that rarely stray from techno's hypnotic, heavyweight roots. Hyperbolic Paths, his first EP for Token since 2008, continues on this path. Its' four cuts are built around bombastic, full-throttle rhythm tracks, unsettling chords and undeniably trippy, looped melody lines. The standout track is arguably "Suborbital Trajecteries", which combines spacey, rising and falling synthesizer motifs with beefed-up, tropical-influenced techno drums and sweaty, constantly building percussion fills. The deeper and dub influenced closing track, "Eccentricity", is also quietly impressive.
