Review: Karen Dalton is one of the most mysterious and enigmatic but also influential artists of her time. Her 1971 album In My Own Time is a real masterpiece that Light In The Attic now presented on newly mastered vinyl. It was originally recorded over a six month time frame at Bearsville and was crafted by producer and musician Harvey Brooks, a key figure in rock-jazz having worked on Dylan's Highway 61 Revisited and Miles' Bitches Brew. It's a wild and vivid record with walking basslines and manic melodies topped off with the expressive vocals.

These career-spanning anthologies showcase Shin's work as a guitarist, songwriter, producer, and arranger of experimental pop, acid-folk, and extended psych-funk jams. His musical journey exists somewhere between Motown, Hendrix, and the Velvet Underground. Often transliterated as Shin Jung-hyeon or Sin Junghyeon, he is revered as South Korea's "Godfather of Rock." A pioneer of Korean rock, Shin formed the country's first rock band, Add4, in 1962, leading the psychedelic rock scene of the 1960s and 1970s. His most famous song, 'Beautiful Rivers and Mountains,' was written in 1972 in protest of the military dictatorship of Park Chung Hee, which led to his imprisonment and torture. Shin's music was banned until the 1980s. He experienced a resurgence in popularity in the 1990s and has since received numerous accolades, solidifying his legacy in South Korean popular music.
