Where Witches Find Peace
Review: The Purple Print family welcomes Loopdeville for a four-track exploration of late-night minimal and tech that is big on atmosphere. 'Insomniac 300' pairs rubbery, juddery drums and loopy synths with watery droplets for a nice heady start. 'Trippy Tits' is an afterparty classic in the mould of early Villalobos and 'Dig Bicks' layers dubby undercurrents with swirling, smudged vocal sounds for more zoned out 5 am sessions. Last but not least, 'Where Witches Find Peace' taps into the Melchior school of minimalism with its frictionless drum loops and deft aesthetic touch, all soon to hypnotise.

Datura
Review: There's a fresh perspective pulsing through this four-tracker from the Paris-born, Seoul-based producer. While the blueprint is techno, the spirit leans into trance and psychedelia in a way that feels totally natural and confidently restrained, not revivalist or retro for the sake of it, a reimagining of where the genre can stretch to.. 'Cloning Procedures' opens with a steady, driving pulse. There's drama in the air but it never turns into theater. Sci-fi tension builds with vocal samples that feel pulled from lost films and the trance elements slip in like vapour. Nothing feels forced, just perfectly placed. 'E-Tribes' leans into a tribal swing, blending dubby trance with slick rhythmic phrasing. The low end glides, the percussion dances and the whole thing rides a beautifully hypnotic wave. Flip the record and 'Mad Caps' continues the trip. It's deep, rhythmically alive and rides a psychedelic edge without tipping into chaos. That deep bassline anchors everything. Closer 'Datura' dives further into shadowy territory, murky and submerged, the kind of thing that sneaks up on a dancefloor. Everything here sounds tuned in and future-minded, while still grounded in solid techno architecture. A release that hints at a bright path forward. With only his second release, Krijka is a name to watch out for.

Review: Another Cheap Thrill's byline is "cool shit when we feel like it", perhaps even rivalling We Release Whatever The Fuck We Want Records in affective coolness (just remember, if you want to succeed in today's music ecology, make sure to project an aura of listless ease). The Newcastle label present here a brand new one from our favourite noughts-10s indie disco graphers Django Django, the London quartet formed of Dave Maclean, Jimmy Dixon, Tommy Grace and Vincent Neff. It adds to the long tradition of limited 12"s largely released by the band through Because Music, but 'Home' is different: its ultra-polished indie disco falsettos and synthy steel-pan-esque progressions reveal a band happily devoted to the art of the single. Not to mention *that* version from Man Power, which has Mr Fingers' ghostly fingers all over it...

Review: Pilot is one of the many labels in the orbit of the irrepressible James 'Burnski' Burnham. Its next outing is from M High who perfectly slots into the label's classy minimal and tech sound world. Things open up with 'Same Routine' which is a turbocharged sound with frazzled bass and thumping kicks. 'On My Own Supply' has a touch of the old school to it with the unbridled joy of the dancing piano chords and big, bulky beats. 'Same Routine' then gets a space-tech rework from Wodda and Hatori's live Bass remix brings some lush cosmic synth swirls and bumping drums.

Review: A powerful tribute to the seminal sound of Berlin's dub techno pioneers Basic Channel when Soma released it in 1995, this deep, timeless techno track from Glasgow's MacKinnon's has grown in reputation over the last 30 years. Side-A, 'X Trak 1', delivers an epic journey of fast, dark techno that pulsates with energy, perfect for the dancefloor. The track's transcendent melody echoes the spirit of classic rave nights, creating a rich atmosphere that is both intense and deep. Side 2, 'X Trak 2', adds big chord stabs and a stomping rhythm, offering a more driving and forceful techno experience. The track's power and energy shine through, as it channels the same minimalist yet emotional vibe that made this sound so iconic. This reissue celebrates a hidden gem that has gained cult status over time.

Review: Since making his debut on Optimo Trax 11 years ago, Jasper James has notched up releases on some suitably impressive labels, including Steel City Dance Discs, ESP Institute and, most recently, NO ART. Here the Glaswegian producer adds another admired imprint to his CV, Chiwax, via an EP that showcases the depth and variety of his house influences. Check first 'No Metronome', a dusty, thickset and (drum machine) percussion-rich chunk of muscular deep house that reminded us a little of the great Kerri Chandler, before admiring the retro-futurist Chicago jack-track that is 'House It Up'. Over on side B, 'Mission 770' is a lightly dubbed-out chunk of peak-time deep house hypnotism and 'Do You Play House' sounds like 'French Kiss'-era Lil Louis fused with the sweat-soaked energy of Sound Factory era Danny Tenaglia and Junior Vasquez productions.

Review: Maltese producer Acidulant lands on Deadbeat for the label's sixth release, and it's a new five-track barrage of 303-laced pressure i unfiltered, club-facing and fully committed to the cause. 'Planet Jack' opens with a tough, relentless bassline that hits like it was ripped straight from an afters at six in the morning, while 'Taken A Trip' goes wide-eyed and cheeky, stretching out into classic acid house territory with a breakdown that feels like pure joy. 'Taking Orders From Machines' nods to Kraftwerk but reimagines them in a warehouse full of strobe and smoke, all syncopation and snap. On the B-side, breaks enter the mix and shift the record into darker, more physical territory i 'Coming Down To The Underground' growls and surges with real low-end weight, before 'Space For Crap' flips the energy with a huge lead hook and sudden lift. It's acid house done with total conviction i raw, playful and fully locked in, with just enough chaos to keep things interesting.

Review: There aren't many trance tracks that have stuck around quite like this one. First dropped in the late 90s, it's been a permanent fixture in the genre's history ever since and this clear vinyl double 12" reissue pulls together some of the strongest remixes it's picked up along the way. From the euphoric lift of the 'Real Anthem mix' to the deep, slow-burn approach of Gai Barone's version, every cut adds a fresh twist without losing the spirit of the original. James Harcourt takes things into heavier, more techy territory, while Bart Skils brings that rolling, hypnotic energy to his version. Ferry Corsten's remix leans into a more melodic strategy while the more aggressive stomp of DJ Ghost & Danny C and the pulsing drive of Dumonde's take, do not let up for a second. And of course, it all circles back to the original. That intro still lands with weight, that drop still makes sense of the title. It's one of those tunes that, even after all these years, still finds its way into the bag when the time is right. A reissue like this is proof that some tracks really do earn their longevity.

Australian beatmaker Inkswel was the lucky artist to finally hook up with the late Upsetter: originally featured on his 2022 album Chasing Infinity (Cosmocities), the track blends a twisted, beat-boogie-influenced dub vibe with Perry's signature woozy wails. Review: Lello Di Franco (LDF) makes a powerful return to Skylax following a sprinting Giro Romalis remix, teaming up with Detroit's Javonntte for 'People From Mars'. The new EP echoes the not entirely capturable original virtue of Detroit house, though we also hear green-skinned ETs laying surreal laser descenders over spiked beats, alienating the style from its motoric origins. 'Saved' also nods to Chicago acid, but its whale-song echoes strip an original croon of its scantness, plunging an invocation to Chi-town into a Europan alien sea. 'Love Anthem', meanwhile, on the flip, provides a pointed swing and exhalatory voice, echoing Omar S with its gritty analogues.

His sophisticated sound designs and impeccable rhythms have taken him to the likes of 31 Records, re:st and The Collection Artaud but here he lands on regular home Well Street. 'Black Box' pairs deft drum programming with jazzy cymbals and blasts of textured bass, and 'REM' is then backlit with a celestial synth glow. A Josi Devil remix brings some low-end hustle and bustle and 'Dream Transmission' is a minimal stepper with an eerie deep space edge and absorbing sense of late-night tension.

Review: One of the most respected dub techno labels around — trusted for 15 years of unwavering quality — once again delivers a stunning release true to their roots while hinting at new horizons. Side A’s 'Track 1' channels that classic Basic Channel spirit: a taut, driving beat anchors heavy, saturated production. The dynamic melody weaves in and out, powered by rich, chord-heavy textures that pulse with energy and depth. It’s a masterclass in restraint and impact, tailor-made for deep, locked-in dancefloor moments. On Side-B, 'Track 2' pushes slightly further into future territory. The groove dives deeper, with a forward-thinking, pulsating rhythm that still feels firmly rooted in dub techno tradition. The atmospheres are wide and immersive, while the beats remain clean and commanding, striking a balance between hypnotic subtlety and bold progression. A great example at the label’s place at the top: consistent, innovative and always essential for serious techno heads.

Classic and contemporary collide on this home run, as Krust's original concurs with Tim Reaper's dynamic come dynamiting remix, keeping conscious of both the genre's roots and its contemporary resurgence. Krust, Bristol legend and co-founder of Full Cycle Records, is renowned for underpainting drum & bass as we now know it, drawing on forget-me-nots like 'Warhead' as bases for clout permanence. Muscovy producer Sin:it:sin (Andrew Sinitsin) seems to know this intuitively, his new 'Obsolete Technology' EP channeling the deep computations of hardcore electro abandonware; salvaged, fixit circuit-tinkerer permutations. Hixon is particularly good at combining analogue electronics (especially vintage drum machine beats) and more organic sounds with lashings of trippy effects and curious samples. He does that masterfully on this four-tracker, skipping between the deep, rolling bass, looped vocal snippets and crunchy beats of 'Get In The Mood', the deep tech-house DJ tool that is 'Drumloop 1', the dusty, minor-key shuffle of title track 'Hustle', and the ultra-deep hypnotism of 'Scared of June'.

Here he returns to solo action with a typically assured two-tracker. Check first A-side 'Cuming Inside', where warming Fender Rhodes motifs, squelchy synths, cut-up soul vocal snippets and warming bass cluster around a crunchy drum machine beat and jammed-out melodic motifs. Review: On 'Heavennnnnn', Detroit vocalist and producer Deon Jamar evinces soul salacity like no other, following up his last Altars LP with a three-tracker of shimmering thymic neo soul, tempered by electronic smoothening and fine motor skills from recording to fine-tuning. Again released on the experimental and newly inaugural Black Music label - conceived as an "art exhibit, concert, and party series founded by Deon and Brian Oscar" - these are soul stopovers to contrast the earlier three-parter's drastic Detroit breakdowns. The title track has a Rhodes line to die for, its trembling amplitude constructively interfering with any sense of forestalled time we might've brought to the listening experience beforehand; 'Salvation Steps' and 'Little James Birthday' provide further versatility over understated percussions and G-funk slapping radio leakage. A promising continuation in sound by a label you'd best keep your eye on.

Review: There is a great backstory to Darryl Baalki. We don't know how true it is, if at all, but it goes something like this: he is an enigmatic figure raised alone by his mother, his only connection to the outside world was his father's record collection. As a child, he believed this collection contained all the music ever created. Convinced that new music could only emerge by reassembling its parts, he obsessively listened, memorised, and mentally reconstructed sound before making new compositions from existing pieces. This is his latest missive and it is deeply moving, from the percussive jumble of the opener to the earthy shuffle and seductive sax of 'Devil May Care' via the hypnotising trumpet leads of 'Nothing Will Break You'. Fans of Mo Kolours et all will love this.

Review: Roman Flugel's 'Geht's Noch?' turns 21 with a box-fresh batch of remixes on Running Back, reminding everyone how a stray bleeper from a Cocoon comp in 2004 wound up as a schoolyard ringtone and dancefloor detonator. Originally championed by Sven Vath, the track bridged minimal's precision and electroclash's snarl, even sneaking in as a proto-Dirty Dutch blueprint. DJ Gigola ramps up the chaos with a seismic kick and Morse-code bleeps; Luca Lozano delivers two flips, a cowbell-packed 'Technocs' tweak and a 'Gehts Garage Remix' that reimagines it via UK funky; Peder Mannerfelt wrings pathos from its absurdity, while Aasthma (with Par Grindvik) pushes it into glossy rave fantasia. Finally, The Steve Angello vs Who's Who version, long a crossover weapon, finally lands on vinyl. Flugel's oddball juggernaut still refuses to sit still.

Review: German techno DJ and producer Tim Engelhardt takes a bold steps toward ascendant progressive techno with 'My Joy', his latest for Habitat. Nodding to the many sun-drenched euphorias personally experienced in Ibiza, this is a true live-it-up house record. Panned organs and subtle vocals take centre stage on the A1, while the B 'Love Triangle' complicates things with a beachside love involution. Midway moment 'Take Control', meanwhile, marks the record's pivotal shift from organ-led emotion to a percussive lock-in.

Review: Released by a Kyiv-based label run by Noizar, this EP serves up a potent mix of minimal and tech house with futuristic flair. On Side-A, 'Ease Your Mind' by Borys offers a mesmerising minimal groove, blending techy, robotic beats with funky, spacey elements. The track's otherworldly vibe creates a hypnotic atmosphere, perfect for both laid-back and deep dancefloor moments. On Side B, 'Los Demeteros"' by Yzer is a heavy stomper, featuring a crunchy bassline that drives the track forward. The eerie, alien melodies lend an unsettling, yet quality to the track, making it feel both futuristic and rooted in the past. The dynamic composition of 'Los Demeteros' draws listeners into its depth, while maintaining a solid, danceable energy throughout. This release is a stunning journey through minimal and electro-techno, showcasing the unique sound of Kyiv's underground scene.

Review: Now two decades deep, dubstep proliferators Tectonic celebrate with The Tectonic Sound, a 24-track manifesto spread across six 12"s, seismically shuttering any competition on a continental scale. Founded in 2005 by Bristol system sojourner DJ Pinch, the label has long straddled dubstep, techno, and the outer reaches of dub and bass music. Now several new fissures are calved open by Re:ni, Yushh, Sicaria, Flora Yin-Wong and Beatrice M., all of whom appear astride foundation shakers RSD, Om Unit, Kahn & Neek, and Peverelist. Almost all were written specifically with Tectonic in mind, not just its sound but its sensibility, echoing the early Skreams, Digital Mystikzes and Jokers that defined a certain subjective experience of dance music, not once erasable.

Review: A proud proclamation is made in the name of love, with Linda Jo Rizzo's 'You're My First, You're My Last'. The New Yorker and Italo disco star had emigrated twice through careers in fashion and nutrition before branching out into music, where she joined The Flirts, and after which time she went solo in 1985. Her second ever EP after her EMI debut 'Fly Me High' first saw a ZYX Music release and alluded nominally to the Barry White hit of almost the same name. From first to last, this song deals in the romantic transition from imagistic to deepened styles of loving, where, at first, "for me, love was like a candy store", and afterwards, the idea of commitment became much more palatable, between which times Rizzo's love object had stayed loyal all along.

Review: While the required mystery means that we can never be quite sure who is behind the Moxy Edits series and My Edits imprint, many are reportedly by the man behind the Moxy Music label, house hero Darius Syrossian. We suspect - though cannot confirm - that he's at the control on this latest instalment in the series, which feature two house reworks of classic cuts. On A-side 'In The Know', he delivers a killer slab of warehouse-ready hip-house, where a familiar, high-octane rap rides heavy-but-bouncy beats, an infectious bassline and occasional blasts of the infamous (and much-sampled) 'Apache' break. Over on side B, 'Square Hole' is a housed-up take on a Steely Dan classic previously sampled by De La Soul. Both cuts are bona fide party classics in the making.

Review: Naya Beat, the LA reissues and reworks label gathering and recasting some of the most delicious sounds of the South Asian diaspora, gathers some of its standout digital-era reworks onto vinyl for the first time, offering a vibrant cross-section of global disco, house and experimental editry from its roster. Also included is a pulsating disco mix of Pinky Ann Rihal's 'Party Tonight' by Turbotito & Ragz, already spun by the likes of CC:DISCO and Barry Can't Swim. JKriv then twists RD Burman's 'Birth of Shiva' into a house stomper laced with bansuri and squelching bass, while Daniel T. transforms 'Zindagi To Zindagi Hai' into a dubbed-out Bollywood journey.

Review: Tectonic marks a new chapter with Tectonic Sound, a six-part, 24-track vinyl series, discomancing an unknowable but part steerable future while also leaning on firmly implanted roots. Each 12” pairs longtime affiliates like Peverelist, RSD, Kahn & Neek and Om Unit with a sharp cast of first-timers, among them Flora Yin-Wong, Re:ni, Sicaria, Yushh and Beatrice M. What emerges is a restless sweep through low-end electronics that flirt with dub, techno, soundsystem pressure and textural detail, in a set shaped by the label’s lineage but unbound by nostalgia. Most tracks were written specifically with Tectonic in mind, adding a sense of cohesion to a compilation that prizes forward motion and liminal spaces.

Review: A potent ongoing collaboration between two techno heads lands on a legendary label, delivering four cuts that span the spectrum of classic and contemporary dancefloor energy. Side-A kicks off with 'ClickClickClick', a tech house burner that lives up to its name as it is bouncy and rhythmically addictive. Its catchy loop play gives way to deeper, murkier textures midway through, maintaining its infectious swing while offering DJs a perfect mid-set curveball. Following it is 'Gearbox', a slick, electro-informed groover with a low-slung, funky bassline. It's high-energy yet controlled, laced with head-nodding bounce and shimmering detail that make it ideal for peak-time dancefloor action. On Side-B, 'Destination 909' is pure nostalgia with a modern polish, bringing in 90s techno grit, trancey atmospherics and a post-rave euphoria that's all tight kicks and laser-focused execution. The production is clean and sharp, but there's an intentional vintage flavor that pays tribute to the roots. Closing things out is 'Reach Out', a hypnotic, dub-leaning track infused with a raw vocal loop preaching unity and rave authenticity. It's spacious, meditative and subtly anthemic. The kind of track that creeps up on you in the best way. All in all, a cohesive, floor-ready EP.

Review: Gladio Operations continues to bolster its catalogue with an international five-track set showcasing both label newcomers and trusted affiliates. Protocolo Sysex, the new alias of Madrid's Fabio Vinuesa, sets the tone with 'NotTheFuture'ia dense, adrenalised workout packed with rugged basslines and twitchy sequences. It's a fierce opener that signals the label's club-facing intent. Sinitsin, hailing from Russia, debuts with a moodier, machine-led cut, its melody work striking a balance between precision and drama. Jauzas the Shining returns alongside Foreign Sequence, offering a cold-blooded, cinematic highlight with shadowy synths and detached vocal fragments. Teslasonic's 'Chubby Bee' acid-kissed electro is quick and wiry, while Igors Vorobjovs brings the EP to a poignant close with a brooding IDM coda rich in ghosted textures.

It's an organic sound with deft synth motifs and rolling drums topped with airy vocals and wispy melodies. The flip side offers a 2025 live version that is more driving and club-ready but still with the same majestic art of melody and outdoor serenity. It's one of those warm, fuzzy and soulful sounds that brings great joy and the spoken word vocal sample adds extra emotional depth.

The wispy synths which constantly seem to be tumbling down above the liner drums of 'Ghost Coder' make you feel as though you are falling into an abyss. While that outlet has been his main home for the last few years, he still occasionally guests on other imprints. It's what the rising star is doing here, making his first appearance on Gene On Earth's popular tech-house/deep house fusion imprint Limousine Dream. 'Powah' opens with piston-tight drums and a rising synth line that bites hard, while 'We Are' layers chopped vocal shards over a relentless rolling bass. Flip the vinyl and 'Neukolln' dives into darker territory, its tunnelling groove paying clear homage to the district that inspired it, before 'Reflexion' stretches gauzy pads across broken percussion for a final surge of after-hours momentum. Captured straight from their tour arsenal, these tracks are purpose-built for peak-time control-machine rhythms, crisp programming and zero excess. 'Live Chronicles Vol. 1' is a fresh release that proves Data Memory Access can translate stage heat to wax without losing an ounce of precision or power.

Review: After years of exploration and experimentation, a new wave of artists from the Andes is now gaining some deserved global recognition. One such artist is Guillermo aka Existencia Pasajera, whose work has been shaped in southern Chile and so smartly reflects the region's newly emerging creative depth. This new release captures his fluid, expressive keyboard style and opens with the trippy and psychedelic loops of 'Haunted House' before 'The Brujo' gets more dark and menacing. The EP also features a remix by Minus legend Magda. Her label debut blends acid, stripped back rhythm and heady grooves, while closing the release is Map.ache of the Giegling collective, whose minimalist approach offers a meditative counterpoint.

Review: Death On Wax follow the curious trend of cataloguing their releases as though they're counting down to doomsday, and 'DW00:00:04' only adds another second to midnight with a fresh collaboration between Jaz (John Zahl) and Party Dad, both hailing from the US. Their prior outing for Philly phantasists Universal Cave proved almost as endearing as this higher-level pedal pivoter, whose three functional tracks do the altruistic work of naming themselves after the BPM they clock in at. With classic hardware reverbs echoing a classic 80s essence, and train whistles, synth brasses and adult filmographic electro soul ensuing on the B side, all we can say is that you're in for a rather varied treat.

Review: UK deep delvers Soul Quest are raring to set 2025 right, after an inaugural 2024 spent establishing their footing in V/A selections comps of a higher-grade but still playful character. A wicked year so far has heard them incant two especial EPs from Jean-Jez and Max Sinal, and that’s not to mention another heater V/A of their own: the three-a-sider ‘Maintain Attitude’. Now five further remixes of Sinal’s earlier ‘Intentions’ setpiece surface, ringing out the room by way of careful and frequent attention, paid to the track by Frits Wentink, JT Donaldson and Flying Moth. The Live Mix from Sinal at the end is also second to none, its rapid-echo plucks a treat.

Review: Having spent the formative years of his career delivering dusty deep house cuts and hazy techno jams as Samuel, Sam Smith has really hit his stride since donning the Ploy alias at the tail end of the last decade. Here he takes time out from releasing on his own Deaf Test imprint and pal Batu’s Timedance outlet to deliver his first outing on Ryan Elliot’s Faith Beat imprint. He begins in full-throttle, UKG-influenced mode on ‘Flirt’ – all warped bass, skippy drums and glassy-eyed musical motifs – before opting for a more bumpin’, sample-heavy sound on the sweat-soaked joy of ‘Woman (Thank You)’. Over on the flip, Smith charges between the big room, Junior Vasquez-influenced tribal house heaviness of ‘Love Song’, the shoulder-swinging UKG flex of ‘I Need You’, and the immersive dark house psychedelia of ‘Prayer Hands’.

La Danse De L'Esprit (feat Lalin St Juste)
Review: Nicola Conte and Nico Lahs, both Bari-born producers pushing the boundaries of underground Afro-Latin and jazzdance, hear the warmest of intros through their friends over at Schema Italy, their sound pivoting a careful Newtonian balance between presence and nostalgia. The roomy but distant highs of ‘Macumba De Oxala’ contrast strongly yet subtly to the hifi plinks and percs of ‘La Danse De L’Esprit’, on the latter of which we hear visiting production fellow Oaklandian Lalin St Juste add an ancestral vocal magic. This first EP is only a start, with a second 12” and a resultant double LP planned.

Monday
Review: Creatively inspired and boosted by the success of 2024 summer anthem 'Italo Disco Banger', Danny Berman AKA Red Rack'em has returned to action with another soon-to-be-massive club workout, 'Secret Banger' - a cut that's already being rinsed in clubs by select tastemaker DJs. A slow-build gem in which cut-up samples (including rubbery-bass, glassy-eyed male vocals and occasional filtered disco loops) rub shoulders with vibrant synth flourishes over a bed of crunchy house beats and the dreamiest of chords, it's a genuine masterclass in tease-and-release dancefloor dynamics. Berman's ability to combine unusual and off-kilter elements (and some rather sneaky samples) comes to the fore once more on 'Monday', a low slung and trippy affair that boasts some seriously sleazy sub-bass vibrations, dusty minor key stabs, quick arrangement changes and cut-up samples aplenty.

Review: Brazilian-born, Berlin-based ROTCIV brings decades of underground weight to this four-tracker for Element of Impact, melding EBM-flecked techno, acid-laced electro and muscular synth-funk with a sense of high-stakes control. 'Enjoy Your Trip' opens with prowling low-end and distant stabs, while 'Losing Collagen' flickers with scorched textures and hi-NRG tension. On the flip, 'Entourage' rides a sleazy, broken rhythm into machine-funk territory, and 'Ancient Machines' closes on a darker, rusted-out tip. ROTCIV's sound, honed since the 90s across both Brazilian raves and Berlin basements, hits with precision hereilean, jacking and full of intent.

Review: Son of Lee is Brooklyn-based DJ and producer. A native New Yorker, he has been active in Brooklyn's dance music underground for over a decade. The Hollowbody EP delivers two new reworks of a little-known American jazz-funk treasure. "One Time" is a filter house-inspired floor filler that's been dubplate tested to great effect on many a dance floor over the last year. "Get Ya, Have Ya" is a downtempo beatdown stomper reminiscent of LTJ and Cottam at their finest. Son Of Lee has been refining a unique blend of leftfield disco, cosmic, and deep-dug funk and r&b that he's showcased on earlier releases with Dailysession, Disco Bizarre (DE) and Rocksteady Disco.

Review: Fresh from delivering a typically nostalgic (and undeniably excellent) EP on Dam Swindle's Heist Recordings, Cinthie Christl returns home to her 808 Crystal Grooves imprint with four more reasons to be cheerful. She begins in typically energetic and heavy fashion on 'Grooves', where vintage vocal snippets, weird noises and fizzing stabs ride a weighty TB-303 bassline and sweat-soaked drums, before breaking up the beats a little on the loose-limbed and low-slung 'Boxer'. Over on side B, 'Hands Up' sits somewhere between glassy-eyed US garage nostalgia and colourful early 90s Italo-house, while 'She Wants It' sees the long-serving producer wrap colourful chords, soulful vocal samples and bubbly electronic melodies around an elongated bassline and no-nonsense drums.

Review: Jolene Cuts stitches together the past and future of French Touch with a series of deft, filter-drenched cuts that pulse with groove and nostalgia. This vinyl-only release distills the essence of the genre, but rather than simply rehashing the well-worn tropes of disco loops and sweeping filters, Danny and Mike manipulate texture and space, creating something that feels alive in the moment. 'Santa' oozes with hazy warmth, its rolling bassline and clipped vocal chops pulling dancers into a deep, hypnotic sway. 'Clear' strips things back to their rawest elementsithudding kick, shimmering chords, and just enough swing to keep bodies locked in. The jittery pulse of 'Expresso' flirts with urgency, teasing out its rhythmic tension before releasing it in waves. On the flip, 'Salsa' stretches Latin percussion into a woozy, off-kilter groove, while 'Do It' harnesses call-and-response vocal snippets to build anticipation before dropping into a groove so thick it practically melts into the speakers. It's a masterclass in movementifluid, tactile, and designed for those who know that house music is as much about feeling as it is about sound.

Review: Berlin-based Tom Bolas has long been one of the most reliable re-editors on the Duca Bianca roster, regularly delivering inspired reworks of Balearic obscurities, flea market record finds and under-appreciated gems. Predictably, there's a similar sonic aesthetic to his latest collection of re-cuts, his first for four years. Opener 'Pantera' is a delay and reverb-laden revision of an early house era synth-pop/indie-dance number that could possibly be filed under Italo-dance, while 'Spiel Mich, Fuel Mich' is a fine take on an odder German synth number. On side B, the Berlin-based producer re-cuts a shuffling and eccentric new wave track ('Lineas Blancas'), before excelling on a killer revision of an arpeggio-driven, dial tone-sporting Eastern European take on Italo-disco ('Czech My Machine').
