Notes: This product is used to produce drum and percussion sounds. You can make 909 type of kick drums- the toggle switch on the left chooses between long and short vca decay. The toggle switch on the left chooses long and short pitch envelope decay. Smack knob control lefts you mix in a noise 'paper' sound for the drum.

You can mix in two trigger sources to create complex percussion patterns. The internal circuit is using logic 'OR' triggering.

This product was refined for optimum sound and response from the controls. Part values were changed from the original 909 design.

-There is onboard distortion to get techno type of kick drums.

-This internal oscillator is triangular core, with internal reset.

-The internal trigger conditioner can take audio rate frequencies.

Notes: The ADDAC302 Nchunk Control module allows you to connect a Nintendo Nunchuck controller to your modular synth, featuring a two-axis thumb joystick, a three-axis accelerometer and two trigger buttons.

The module provides CV outputs for all of the Nunchuck's parameters and special functions to remap the CV outputs. The remapping can be both continuous or step-by-step and can be accessed through either the dedicated CV inputs or the manual controls.

A specially dedicated Mix output averages between the first two CV outputs, a very useful feature for continuous control parameters.

Recording capabilities
Two analogue combo inputs (1/4" / XLR) are provided for connecting and simultaneously recording any combination of dynamic and condenser microphones and instruments (line level or Hi-Z). They are complemented by Class-A preamps, adjustable gain and 48V phantom power. Each channel has its own input gain control for dialling in the perfect amount of input signal for a particular recording.

iRig Pro Duo I/O can also be used as a MIDI interface via MIDI input and output connectors and included breakout cables. Additional connections include two balanced 14" outputs and headphone output.

A direct monitor switch provides latency-free monitoring of direct incoming signal for use with video or streaming apps, or lets users monitor the processed signal returning from their device when recording music or using audio processing apps.

Out-of-the-box performance
iRig Pro Duo I/O runs on USB bus power or 2 AA batteries (or an optional PSU), and includes Lightning, USB-A and USB-C cables to work with any device right out of the box.

Although compatible with any app designed for high-quality digital audio input for recording or creation, iRig Pro Duo I/O comes with free access to over $/€500 of IK software, apps, and in-app material, making it an all-in-one package with everything needed to record, edit, and share great music, podcasts, interviews and more.

- The output of the balance unit is used as audio input for the VCF
- Bal.: manual balance control, fully CCW the internal VCO is used, fully CW the external signal (Ext.In) is used, at centre position both signals have about the same level
- CV Bal.: CV input for balance (range about 0...+5V)
- Ext. In: external audio input for VCA2, about 5 Vpp level required for similar loudness as the internal VCO
- This socket is normalled to the internal VCO suboctave f/2 signal (rectangle with half the frequency), if no external signal is applied the suboctave signal is used as the second signal for the balance unit

VCF:

- 24 dB low pass
- Frq: manual frequency control
- FM1: frequency modulation depth (attenuator wired to the VCF FM1 socket, the socket is normalled to the internal Envelope signal and then FM1 controls the modulation depth of the internal envelope applied to the filter)
- FM2 (socket) : second CV input for VCF without attenuator (about 1V/octave), can be used e.g. for VCF tracking by connecting the same CV which is used also for the VCO frequency
- Res: manual resonance control (up to self oscillation)
- If the VCO is turned off (waveform switch = centre position, pulsewidth control = fully CCW or CW) and the VCF resonance is set to maximum the module can be used as a sine oscillator, the tracking at socket VCF FM2 is about 1V/octave (not as precise as the VCO but much better than most other filters)
- ~ 11 octaves frequency range (~ 10 Hz ... 20kHz)

VCA:

- Gain: manual amplitude control (initial gain), can be used to open the VCA without envelope signal
- VCA (switch): used to switch between gate and envelope as control signal for the VCA, in centre position the VCA is not controlled by envelope or gate
- Note: when gate is used the VCA is controlled directly by the gate signal (i.e. hard on/off), this may lead to clicking noise under certain conditions (especially with low VCO/VCF frequencies)
- Special control scale: exponential scale in the range from about -20dB to -80/90dB, linear scale from about -20dB to 0dB
- Remark: this special control scale results in a loudness behaviour that is a bit different from pure linear or exponential VCAs
- Out: audio output of the module (= VCA output)

Envelope:

- Gate (socket): Gate input (min. +5V), can be normalled to the bus gate signal by means of a jumper
- Att: manual control for Attack
- D/R: manual control for Decay/Release
- Env. (switch): used to switch between A/D, ADSR and A/R mode of the envelope generator, in centre position (ADSR) the sustain level is fixed to about 50%
- Envelope (socket): envelope output (about +10V)
- CVT (socket): CV input for time control, by means of two internal jumpers one can select which time parameters are controlled by the CVT input (e.g. A only or D/R only or A/D/R) and in which direction (i.e. if an increasing CVT shortens or stretches the time parameter in question)

- Attack time range: ~ 1ms ... 5 sec (can be extended by using the CVT input)

Two independent analogue window comparators with voltage controlled parameters - 8HP
Notes: The window comparator is a very useful circuit building block that is common in general electronics, but rarely found in modular synths. While a regular comparator activates when the input signal voltage is higher than a threshold level, a window comparator checks if the voltage is between two levels (these form the 'window').

Compare 2 combines two such comparators and a logic section in 8 HP. The result is an advanced tool for extracting gates and pulses from analogue signals in Eurorack synths.

The detection windows are defined by the shift and size parameters, which can be varied using the knobs and CV inputs. Complementary gate outputs are available, with big three-colour LEDs showing each comparator's status.

All inputs are normalised from the left section to the right, but the two comparators can also be used completely independently. On the bottom, the outputs from both comparators are combined in various ways by the logic section, which also features LEDs.

Compact dual mono or stereo XLR/6.35 mm jack input module
Notes: While modular synthesisers are most often used as stand-alone instruments, they also present exciting opportunities for processing external signals. Anything from an electric guitar to an effects send on a studio mixing desk can benefit from the unique sonic capabilities of even a modest Eurorack system.

However, patching in an external source usually requires an adapter cable and plenty of clean gain to bring the signal to Eurorack level. If the signal source is balanced, a balanced input is required as well to provide the best possible interference rejection.

Receive 2 (or RX2 for short) provides a convenient all-in-one solution. It offers two universal external inputs, which accept both balanced or single-ended signals via XLR or 6.35 mm jack connectors.

The circuit incorporates low-impedance design practices, radio-frequency (RF) filtering and premium balanced receivers to provide transformer-like interconnect performance in a compact and affordable module. And thanks to the electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection, it’s rugged enough to survive the rigours of performing on the road.

The very clean integrated pre-amps feature variable gain, ranging from unity to +40 dB on each channel. As a result, Receive 2 can handle just about any signal source you may encounter, including electric instruments, piezoelectric pickups and many dynamic microphones.

Adjusting the gains is a breeze thanks to the dual peak-responding LED meters. A mix output is included as well, so external signals can be easily mixed directly in the module.

Slew limiter & function generator module - 8HP
Notes: For decades, the voltage controlled slew limiter has been a staple of modular synthesisers. With its extreme versatility, it can be used to slew control voltages (CVs), create envelopes, as a low-frequency or audio oscillator and much more.

Today, Contour 1 brings a fresh approach to this classic circuit. It delivers much improved performance and control by incorporating modern design techniques.

At its most basic, a slew limiter slows down the rate of voltage change in a signal. On Contour 1, the rising and falling rates can be individually set using sliders and CV modulation.

The gate and trigger inputs allow the module to be used as a function generator: create snappy attack-release (AR) and attack-decay (AD) envelopes, with slope times ranging from 500 us to 30 seconds. The dedicated gate input makes it easy to generate +10 V envelopes from any signal source. Using the large tactile push button, AD envelopes can be manually triggered. A trigger will also reset the output voltage.

When set to loop mode, Contour 1 will continually re-trigger itself. In this mode, it fulfils the role of a variable-shape low-frequency oscillator (LFO) or temperature-stable voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) in the audio range.

Both the rising and falling slopes can be individually bent, from concave through linear to convex. While doing so, the deviation in slope time, and thus oscillation frequency, is kept to a minimum. Since the bend parameters are separately voltage controllable, boundless modulation possibilities present themselves.

MIDI clock divider module - 5HP
Notes: The "uMCLK Divider" module can either work as a MIDI clock divider or as an analog clock divider. The divider outputs are assigned differently in both operating modes.

After receiving a MIDI start command, the module works as a MIDI clock divider. There are fixed dividers on 11 outputs. Via the divider output KEYS, triggers can be triggered and mixed via MIDI notes. The keyboard zone extends over three octaves. With the help of the LEARN key, the receive MIDI channel and the lowest note of this 3-octave range can be defined.

When stopped (i.e. after receiving a MIDI stop command or after switching on), the module works as an analog clock divider and divides the analog clock present at the CLOCK input. The 12 analog divider outputs can be reprogrammed via SYSEX. Ready-made SYSEX files are already available (e.g. for even / odd dividers, Fibonacci series, offbeats, etc.). The RESET input resets the analog counters or serves to deactivate the analog divider.

- The output of the balance unit is used as audio input for the VCF
- Bal.: manual balance control, fully CCW the internal VCO is used, fully CW the external signal (Ext.In) is used, at centre position both signals have about the same level
- CV Bal.: CV input for balance (range about 0...+5V)
- Ext. In: external audio input for VCA2, about 5 Vpp level required for similar loudness as the internal VCO
- This socket is normalled to the internal VCO suboctave f/2 signal (rectangle with half the frequency), if no external signal is applied the suboctave signal is used as the second signal for the balance unit

VCF:

- 24 dB low pass
- Frq: manual frequency control
- FM1: frequency modulation depth (attenuator wired to the VCF FM1 socket, the socket is normalled to the internal Envelope signal and then FM1 controls the modulation depth of the internal envelope applied to the filter)
- FM2 (socket) : second CV input for VCF without attenuator (about 1V/octave), can be used e.g. for VCF tracking by connecting the same CV which is used also for the VCO frequency
- Res: manual resonance control (up to self oscillation)
- If the VCO is turned off (waveform switch = centre position, pulsewidth control = fully CCW or CW) and the VCF resonance is set to maximum the module can be used as a sine oscillator, the tracking at socket VCF FM2 is about 1V/octave (not as precise as the VCO but much better than most other filters)
- ~ 11 octaves frequency range (~ 10 Hz ... 20kHz)

VCA:

- Gain: manual amplitude control (initial gain), can be used to open the VCA without envelope signal
- VCA (switch): used to switch between gate and envelope as control signal for the VCA, in centre position the VCA is not controlled by envelope or gate
- Note: when gate is used the VCA is controlled directly by the gate signal (i.e. hard on/off), this may lead to clicking noise under certain conditions (especially with low VCO/VCF frequencies)
- Special control scale: exponential scale in the range from about -20dB to -80/90dB, linear scale from about -20dB to 0dB
- Remark: this special control scale results in a loudness behaviour that is a bit different from pure linear or exponential VCAs
- Out: audio output of the module (= VCA output)

Envelope:

- Gate (socket): Gate input (min. +5V), can be normalled to the bus gate signal by means of a jumper
- Att: manual control for Attack
- D/R: manual control for Decay/Release
- Env. (switch): used to switch between A/D, ADSR and A/R mode of the envelope generator, in centre position (ADSR) the sustain level is fixed to about 50%
- Envelope (socket): envelope output (about +10V)
- CVT (socket): CV input for time control, by means of two internal jumpers one can select which time parameters are controlled by the CVT input (e.g. A only or D/R only or A/D/R) and in which direction (i.e. if an increasing CVT shortens or stretches the time parameter in question)

- Attack time range: ~ 1ms ... 5 sec (can be extended by using the CVT input)

Notes: The Sampling Modulator is a multi-function module that lies somewhere between a VCO, a Sample & Hold, and an 8 step trigger sequencer.

Sequencer Clocked Sample & Hold

In this mode it acts like a regular Sample and Hold (S&H) but since it is "sequencer clocked", it is capable of much more interesting patterns than the usual S&H melodies.

The CLOCK input can work in two ways: 1. As a typical clock 2. In "positive going hard sync" mode allowing you to create shuffling and polyrythmic effects.

The HOLD input can be used to keep certain notes playing.

Analog Down-Sampling Effect

In this mode (with the clock running at audio rates) you can go from nasty and harsh sampling rate reduction to an almost clean signal. (The clock run up to 25Khz without external CV and up to 200Khz with CV on the input).

Sampling Modulator/Shaper

Thanks to the V/Oct clock, by feeding a simple waveshape such as a sine wave to IN, and pitch CV to the VCO as well as to the Sampling Modulator CV input, their related frequencies and aliasing caused by the sampling rate reduction are capable of creating clangorous metallic sounds, 8 bit textures and much more.

The game becomes much more interesting when you try to destroy the wave by flipping on and off the switches of the sequencer (which at times can make it sound like three VCOs running in unison).

To understand how the Sampling Modulator works, keep in mind that we are working with a temperature compensated ramp core VCO with more than 4 octaves of tracking. This allows the timbre to stay the same while you move through the scale as the internal and external VCOs are synced in a fashion similar to "frequency related sampling rate modulation"

Unusual V/oct VCO You can use the trigger outputs as a pulse VCO. Flipping the switches on and off the switches can offer a lot of interesting timbral changes.

Notes: Module A-112 is the combination of a voltage controlled 8 Bit Sampler and a wavetable oscillator. On top of it the module is able to generate some special effects. A-112 was designed as an additional sound source with the typical sounds of the early 8 bit samplers and is not comparable with the modern polyphonic MIDI samplers available on the market.

Sampling mode: 8 bit audio resolution, 128kB memory in 2 banks 64kB each (equivalent to 2 seconds of sampling time for each bank with 32 kHz sampling rate), audio input with attenuator, overload display in record mode (gate LED), possibility of MIDI Dump to store sounds in a computer via MIDI, non-volatile memory for the 2 samples in the module, manual tune control for adjustment of sampling rate for record and play, CV input (~ 1V/Oct), both manual tune and CV determine the sampling rate respectively the pitch (pitch range is 5 octaves), gate input (not a trigger: the sample starts at the positive edge of the gate signal and is played as long as gate is high or until the end of the sample is reached), manual Gate button, non-filtered audio output (thus quantizing noise can be used as an element of the sound intentionally).

Wavetable mode: special appearance of the sampling mode when playing a sample, the audio input is now used as a second control voltage input for moving through the sample in 256 byte wide loops (wavetables). The control voltage required to move through all wavetables applied to the input "Wave CV In" is in the range -2.5V (wavetable 1) ... 0V (wavetable 127) ... +2.5V (wavetable 256) when control "Atten." is set fully clockwise. To achieve the typical wavetable oscillator sounds the sampling memory must contain corresponding wavetable data (e.g. loaded via MIDI dump). These data contain a set of wavetables with different harmonic content (e.g. a filter sweep) to get the typical wavetable sound while moving through the tables via CV. But you may also use a "normal" sample and go through the sample with CV to obtain partially amazing sounds never heard before. You may use for example sampled speech and go with CV through the syllables or speech shreds to get really very extreme sounds. An ideal addition for this feature is the Offset/Attenuator module A-183-2 which can be used to adjust the position of the wavetable (Offset) and the modulation depth (Att.). The corresponding jumper of the A-183-2 has to be set to bipolar offset (as the A-112 requires -2.5V...+2.5V to pass through all 256 wavetables). As modulation source an LFO (A-145, A-146, A-147, A-143-3), ADSR (A-140, A-141, A-142, A-143-1/2) or a random voltage (A-118, A-149-1) may be used. Even a ribbon controller (A-198 or R2M), the Theremin module A-178, the Joystick A-174 or the Wheels module A-174-2 are useful to drive through the wavetables.

Effects: Additionally, the module offers - in a way free of charge - some effects like delay, reverse delay, pitch shifting or freeze. But it has to be pointed out that due to the 8 bit audio resolution these effects are not comparable to high quality effect units and should be understand as an extra for nothing. The A-112 is not an effects unit!

The sampling time of the A-112 is about 1...30 seconds corresponding to a sampling frequency range of about 60kHz...2kHz (64kB@60kHz ~ 1 s, 64kB@2kHz ~ 30 s).

Technical note: the module uses a battery for the non-volatile storage of the sampling data. Batteries have a limited lifespan and have to be inspected at least every two years. For details please refer to the FAQ page of our website: Lifespan of rechargeable batteries (used for memory backup).

MiniMod Glide + Noise, combining two Minimoog circuits in one module - 6HP
Notes: The original MiniMod Glide +Noise module was based exactly on the original Minimoog Model D circuitry, which was designed to be used with the built in Model D keyboard, and because of its vintage design its range was severely limited to 5 or 6 octaves, and it also responded to positive voltages only. Another limitation was that it would not return fully to zero when selecting long glide times, which restricted the range even more.

So we made the decision to re-design the MiniMod Glide + Noise using modern precision parts, and we have come up with an all new circuit which has exactly the same function, but with a hugely extended range. It has the same Glide slope characteristic (a slightly curved Linear Glide) as the Model D on which the MiniMod is based, however in response to many requests from customers we have adjusted the glide up and down speeds so that they are now very similar , which is much more useful in real world applications that the earlier MK1 version which (like the Model D) would glide up considerably faster than it would glide down.

The new Mk2 MiniMod Glide Noise module now has an impressive 14 octave range, and can respond to negative voltages down to -5V. This is a very useful feature, as our MiniMod VCO's will respond to negative control voltages and produce correspondingly low frequencies; so it is now possible to glide down quickly or slowly to crazy sub bass levels! The hold feature has been improved too, it covers the full audio range as well as DC control voltages, and works as a track and hold module with Eurorack signal levels.

A further enhancement is that the Mk2 module can now (using selectable jumpers) transmit or receive pitch CV to the Eurorack power bus; for example, the Glide CV Output can now be directed to the Bus in order to send CV's to (for example) three VCO's via the bus without the need for a passive multi and four patch cords!

The Noise section of the module is unchanged, except that we have slightly boosted the level of the Red Noise output to bring it more in line with Eurorack control voltage levels.

Lastly, it is much shallower - Mk1 Glide Noise had a depth of 54mm, and it was the only MiniMod module that was too deep to fit a skiff style case - and this prevented a full MiniMod system being installed into a shallow Eurorack case. The new MK2 version is only 28mm deep, so this allows both it and a full MiniMod system to be mounted into shallow skiff style Eurorack cases.

The main goal was to propose a solution which would keep all the dynamics from the original track while reproducing accurately every single detail on the whole audio spectrum. Even if Listen Professional headphones are closed, they produce a very lively sound, giving the feeling of semi-open headphones while still providing the isolation of closed headphones.

Focal's core expertise:

The speaker driver has been given a 100% Mylar suspension, whereas the central dome is composed of a Mylar-titanium alloy to provide more rigidity and extended frequency response in the upper end of the spectrum. Thus, the moving part is extremely light, enabling the transducer to exceed 40kHz on a flat baffle. The reproduction of the bass and sub-bass registers also received a great deal of attention. The team of engineers managed to combine two factors which are hardly compatible: a tuning frequency which is as low as possible and extremely low distortion (0.3% at 1kHz - 100dB).

Ear cushions - the ideal acoustics:

The size of the ear cushions (height, width and depth) gives them a volume which makes it possible to achieve a great tonal balance. Notes: Introducing the HATS808, part of Tiptop Audio's new series of drum modules that bring analog percussion into the modular synth world, instantly turning your system into a self-contained music machine.

The HATS808 is the TR-808's real, analog closed and open hi-hat circuits adapted for use in Eurorack modular synthesizer format and tested to sound just like it did back in the 80's. Adapting to modular foramt has allowed Tiptop Audio to add some special features for each voice, like independent accent levels, a high-powered gain stage, and a dual-input pulse-shaper. Filter Q and VC-Q knobs were added to the main band-pass filter for additional tuning and to allow you to generate crushed tones and self-oscillation at the knob's max position - all without comprimising the signature sound of the TR-808 hi-hats.

The HATS808 sizzling sound is made using six analog square wave oscillators mixed and processed by band-pass filters. This multi-oscillator design is what give the 808 hi-hat sounds their unique metallic character and akes each HATS808 sound slightlty different from one-another. The original "choke" circuitry that makes it sound so dynamic and tight is fully implemented, just like the original, but can also be disabled if needed, by disconnecting the internal connection between the two hats.

Just like the other drums in this series, the HATS808 high-powered output gain stage allows you to further harmonize the sound using distortion and clipping. On each input, there is a dual pulse-shaper circuit so you can trigger your HATS808 with Trigger/Gate signals from step sequencers, clock dividers or any other pulse/clock sources. This eliminates the need to shape pulses sent to the module and ensures the same stable sound at peak power, regardless of your pulse source. All these unique features make integrating this legendary sound generator into your modular synth easy, unleashing the power of real analog drums.

Percussion synthesiser module reverse-engineered from the original TR-909 circuit - 8HP wide
Notes: Reverse-engineered from the original machine, our BD909 is an identical recreation of the original all-analog drum circuit of the TR-909. We've added additional controls and synthesis features that turn this classic circuit into a chest-pounding analog bass drum laboratory - all tightly packed into an 8HP module. The BD909 sound differs from our BD808 in that the main sonic energy is centered in the mid to low frequency range (as opposed to the low frequency range of the BD808). This frequency range gives the needed headroom allowing your bass Lines to deeply fill up the low end while the kick drum rides on top - creating a clear and punchy mix.

The BD909 includes all the controls found in the original: Attack, Decay, Tune Decay, Accent and Level. We have gone beyond that and added controls that further increase the palette of sound this circuit is capable of. First off, we've added a tuning control knob for the oscillator and included its own CV input and attenuator that let you tune your 909 kick with your bass lines. Next, we added control knobs for the tuning attack and extending tuning decay - each one affects the other, allowing for very intuitive and interactive sound shaping - this feature opens up numerous "sweet spots", and provides the ability to center the energy peak at different parts of the sound. Finally, we offer additional punch and distortion by giving complete control over the internal waveshaper, which allows you to overload the waveform manually or with voltage control.

Beginning with the classic and pure sound of the 909 kick, these additional functions greatly expand the BD909's flexibility and let it create powerful analog bass drums that range from soft and smooth to punchy and aggressive - and everything in between.
