Cat: 785332 Rel: 20 Aug 20

Pair of 2-Way powered studio monitor speakers
Notes: In the 15 years since they were introduced, the HS Series powered studio monitors have become a favourite in professional, project and home studio environments.
The new special edition HS5 MP Set includes two HS5 monitors, both manufactured using a unique process and both utilising specially selected parts. The result is a pair of monitors, each as closely matched to one another as is possible.

2-way bass-reflex bi-amplified nearfield studio monitor with 5" cone woofer and 1" dome tweeter
54Hz - 30kHz (-10dB), 74Hz - 24kHz (-3dB) frequency response
45W LF plus 25W HF bi-amp system for high-performance 70W power amplification
ROOM CONTROL and HIGH TRIM response controls
XLR and TRS phone jack inputs accept balanced or unbalanced signals

The HS Series embodies the design philosophy on which Yamaha has long insisted for its studio monitors, and is now available as a special paired model that uses selected volume parts. The paired model series bears the designation of MP (Matched Pair), and MP stickers are affixed to the back of each unit. Manufactured at the same time and with paired serial numbers, the HS MP models can play a valued role in your recording, mixing, and mastering work.

Yamaha Pro Audio's history of aspiration and innovation goes back to 1969. Since the creation of Yamaha's first pro audio products (the VA120 and VA180 vocal amp systems), they've repeatedly aspired and innovated to create a wide-ranging lineup for applications including broadcast studios and commercial spaces, such as mixing consoles, power amplifiers, speakers, processors, and immersive sound solutions, each with the aim of becoming the new standard in their respective market.

Monitor speakers are one of the product areas that must be mentioned when speaking of Yamaha Pro Audio's fifty-year history. The NS10M STUDIO which went on sale in 1977 was a studio monitor speaker loved by numerous engineers, and earned a role in studios around the world. In 1998 came the MSP5 powered monitor speaker which focused on providing the painstakingly faithful playback of the original sound that is demanded from nearfield monitors. Subsequently, the MSP/MSP STUDIO series that appeared during the period 2000 through 2008 benefited from a full measure of the know-how and technology that has been accumulated in the field of pro studio monitor design, going on sale as a flagship model that boasted a stunning degree of perfection.

Yamaha have insisted on complete fidelity to the original sound and the ability to reproduce the subtle changes of tone and position in the mix, and these principles are exemplified in the HS series that appeared in 2005 with its bright white cones. As high-bit and high-sampling-rate continue as trends in the field of music production, leading to an increasing need for high-quality nearfield monitors, these speakers deliver the high-quality sound and accuracy that are ideal for the studio environment. In 2013, fusing the know-how and cutting-edge analysis technology that has been developed through many years of studio monitor design, and carefully rethinking every element, the next-generation HS series have been announced, adds yet more polish to the accuracy of these speakers.

Fluid Audio FX50 v2 5 " Coaxial Studio Monitor (single)
Cat: 1029994 Rel: 04 Jul 24

Studio monitor with 5" coaxial driver
Notes: Introducing our new FX50 coaxial studio monitors.
Keeping true to the original keyhole design, the FX enclosure has been updated with a complex radius front baffle, which not only looks pretty cool, it improves cabinet defraction.
(CEILING AND WALL MOUNTABLE FOR DOLBY ATMOS SETUP)

Coaxial driver
Mounted in the center of the woofer is a 30mm silk dome tweeter in a coaxial configuration. Using this technology (unique in its price range) makes it a point source device, meaning that all the sound emanates from a single point not points that are 10" apart. This is crucial for improving off-axis response, but also allows for a more compact footprint cabinet.
Other benefits using coaxial studio monitors are sound clartiy and imaging.

Boundary compensation DIP switches
Sometimes the spaces where we mix aren't the most forgiving acoustically (especially if you're in a home studio).
The FX series monitors come equipped with boundary control EQ switches, that allow you to compensate for spaces that may not have been tuned or just need to be adjusted due to their proximity to the wall behind them. There is also a guide conveniently printed on the rear panel to show how the DIP switches work, and a more detailed explanation in the user guide.

Class D and DSP powered
The FX50 is a Class-D bi-amplified studio monitor.Class-D benefits are clean, reliable power, more headroom, less power consumption and heat.
We have a standalone powerful DSP integration. The digitally controlled crossover makes each speaker more consistent.
The new FX series is truly a 21st Century reference monitor at home in any recording studio.

LED indicator on front baffle
The illuminated LED on the front panel is not only a status indicator, displaying whether the FX monitor is on, off or in standby, but also acts as an alignment beacon which allows you to properly align your speakers to your ear level.

Read what Pro Tools Expert think about the FX50 as your next rear or height channels. For larger rooms we would recommend using our FX80 studio monitor.

A Coaxial Monitor for the 21st Century
The Fluid Audio Coaxial speaker design is notably different from traditional coaxial designs. Coaxial studio monitors in the 50's and 60's placed the high frequency driver behind the woofer, porting the high frequency through the woofer's voice coil opening. This design effectively used the woofer's cone as the wave guide, or horn. Since the woofer's cone is constantly moving (sometimes dramatically as it plays bass frequencies), there is a significant amount of Intermodulation distortion and audible smearing that happens as the high frequency radiates off the woofer's cone.

The coaxial design of the Fluid Audio FX series places the high frequency device in front of the woofer, secured to a fixed post. The tweeter is mounted in a hard plastic wave guide that allows the high frequencies to flow uninterrupted, so there is no audio smearing from the woofer's movements. By using the on-board DSP, 48 and 36db per octave Linkwitz-Riley slopes not only perfectly blend the low and high frequencies, but are also used to filter out acoustic anomalies inherent in coax designs (as the tweeter does not have a full size baffle to radiate from.) In addition to these unique benefits, users get all the other known benefits of a coaxial driver Symmetrical off-axis response (which creates a bigger, more even and consistent sweet spot) and that of being a point source device, which allows better phase coherence between drivers resulting in extremely realistic imaging. Whether upright or laid on its side, the Fluid Coaxial design will perform identically making studio positioning easier and more user friendly.
