When out and about, you really need to block as much ambient noise out as possible and a lot of headphones do this by clamping the ear-pads as tightly to your ears as possible and using materials that absorb a lot of sound. The DT 700 Pro series avoids this by using a clever bass reflex system and a large circumaural cup design with velour pads. The Hi-X60's large, open soundstage is more akin to open-back headphones than closed-back and this is partly-achieved by the ear cup design which is spacious inside whilst having a relatively small external dimension.

The soft, memory foam ear cushions are a re-think of older designs; the acoustic wall that closes off the earcup is doubled so as little sound as possible can escape into the environment or enter the internal soundstage from outside.
