An Overdrive you can trust

The Special Cranker is an all-discrete analogue distortion enhancement device designed to give your signal some extra grit and boost without drastically altering your tone and retaining all of the natural nuances and character of your amp. Think of it as sticking an extra preamp tube in your amplifier for more saturation. Single notes will blossom and bloom with rich harmonics and singing sustain with responsive, tube-like sag. Power chords will sound thicker and crunchier, a little more ragged around the edges. Complex chords will remain distinct and complex, as the Special Cranker is designed to preserve your tone's integrity without muddying up the low-end or smearing the midrange.

The Special Cranker picks up where the beloved Speaker Cranker left off. It has the same spongy, dynamic, and touch-sensitive character of the original but with more gain, double the output volume (now with a user-friendly Level control), an added Tone control to shape your signal, and a diode selector switch featuring the original asymmetrical Silicon diodes as well as a hot, new Germanium diode option.

The More control goes from nearly clean to a medium gain overdrive when at maximum. This control adjusts the bias of the transistor, so you may hear a little noise as you turn the control. Don't freak out; it's totally fine. The gain characteristics are dependent on which diodes are chosen. When the Germanium diodes are selected, the Special Cranker delivers a softer, more rounded response with tamed highs and lower output, while the Silicon diodes add a brighter, more modern edge and higher output. Both are exceptionally responsive to playing dynamics and have excellent clarity. The Tone control gives the user full command over treble frequencies, cutting the highs when counter-clockwise and adding a slight high-frequency boost when turned clockwise. The Level control adjusts the output from nothing to nearly double at maximum.

Flexi-Switchr Technology
This device features Flexi-Switchr Technology! This relay-based, true bypass switching style allows you to simultaneously use momentary and latching style switching.

For standard latching operation, tap the footswitch once to activate the effect and then tap again to bypass.

For momentary operation, hold the footswitch down for as long as you'd like to use the effect. Once you release the switch the effect will be bypassed.

Since the switching is relay based, it requires power to pass signal.

Power:

This device should be powered a standard 9-volt DC power supply with a 2.1mm negative center barrel. We always recommend pedal-specific, transformer-isolated wall-wart power supplies or multiple isolated-output supplies. Pedals will make extra noise if there is ripple or unclean power. Switching-type power supplies, daisy chains and non-pedal specific power supplies do not filter dirty power as well and let through unwanted noise.

The Special Cranker can be safely operated from 9-18 volts.

Notes: Part of Dreadbox's impressive effects line-up, the Disorder is a rowdy fuzzbox crossed with a self-oscillating filter, serving up some pleasingly nasty tones. An envelope follower with CV output adds versatility.

Dreadbox Disorder is a very aggressive fuzz pedal with a twist. It is equipped with a self-oscillating filter, that allows you to produce oscillating fuzz sounds.

Additionally it has a low pass and high pass filter, that makes it suitable for guitar and bass as well. Finally an envelope follower is also present, allowing you to create wah-wah sounds.

About Junction

Junction is a compact, 4 channel attenuverter, cascading mixer and multiple designed to fine tune the control voltages in your rack to the perfect range for their destinations. Junction can be used as a source of fixed voltage, offset another voltage, or mix multiple voltages together to create complex and dynamic modulation.

Features

Each channel on Junction has a knob (1) that acts as a manual control for the attenuverter. Center position (12 o clock) is 0V. The first channel input (2) is normalized to +5V when no cable is plugged into it.

A buffered copy of the input signal of the first channel is present on all of the other inputs from from the first (2) to the last (8). This duplication is "cascading" as shown by the arrow graphics on the panel - if a cable is patched into any input, it "breaks" the cascading multiple - all unpatched inputs carry the signal present at the uppermost patched input (or +5V if no inputs are patched). For example, if a signal is patched into the second channel's input (4) the third (6) and fourth (8) channel inputs would carry a copy of the second channel's input instead of the first channel input.

Junction's channels are mixed on the outputs. The output mixer is also "cascading" - when a cable is patched into an output, it carries a mix of it's own output and all unpatched channel outputs above it. For example, if only the last channel output (9) is patched, this output will carry a mix of all of the outputs. Patching the first channel output (3) would remove it from this mix.

Even though Junction's inputs cascade and outputs mix, Junction's output will clip at the Eurorack power rail voltages of +12 and -12V. It is not possible to output a voltage outside of this range, regardless of the signals patched into Junction.

Notes: Gera is a component of the Leibniz subsystem that allows masking individual bits of the digital data by the use of logical AND operation.

It features 8 individual gate inputs that affect the individual bits of data, as well as 8 illuminated tact switches for manual inverting of each control input. When connected to Drezno that is processing a waveform or voltage, masking of individual bits yields various forms of quantization. However, Gera can function on its own. The AND operation is a basic building block for sequence automation, chaos and rhythm generation, and various computer-like modular patches.

Bit processing logic in Gera is hardware based, hence there is virtually no latency, and the binary signals may change at extreme rates.

Notes: Running Order is a two track trigger sequencer. It can be a precise master clock or manipulate incoming clock signal and works great in use as a sub-sequencer/divider in your Eurorack environment.

Notes: The C-1U module is a one-channel module for recording and playing back movements of controller. Those can be recorded with channel's knob. The movements will be output as control voltage. The record time amounts to one minute maximal.

Notes: Full-blooded distortion - Pit Viper is a solid state overdrive for hard-boiled musicians. The circuit can generate clean, beefy signal boosts. However, its true strengths lie in aggressively screaming distortions with a tangible character.

Pit Viper comes equipped with the following control elements:

- Toxicity: Gain potentiometer - Please turn up for heavy distortion.
- Hiss: Tone knob - Turn clockwise to cut the treble.
- Venom: Volume potentiometer
- Fear: Three-stage soft clipping switch - Activates normal soft clipping or a more tube-like version with less treble.

The front panel controls and signal normals allow these two VCAs to also be configured to function as: line level boosters, crossfaders, ring modulators, mixers, and much more. They can also be chained together by way of an included cable to form larger, more complex systems.

Amps features cascaded CV inputs and cascaded mix outputs allowing it to be used in a number of versatile configurations. A boost switch enables you to amplify each VCA's input by either +6dB or +20dB i ideal for boosting low amplitude signals or pleasingly overdriving audio. The addition of a phase inversion switch for the second channel allows Amps to function as a ring modulator. The CV normalization, which can also be inverted and offset, also allows for VC-Crossfader functionality.

Time CV input provides wide ranging control of time. It is possible to dial in something approaching 1V/oct over a limited range, although Shapes has not been designed to perform as an accurately tracking VCO. In the audio range, Shapes comes into its own when used as a 'daughter' VCO to an external 'mother' VCO by patching the 'mother' VCO into Shapes' Gate In input socket - some impressive oscillator sync style effects can be achieved.

Gate In can also be used to initiate waveforms in one-shot mode, where a pulse of any length will cause Shapes to complete one cycle.

*Shapes has not been designed to perform as an accurately tracking audio VCO.

Notes: The Fundamental Tremolo is a classic optical tremolo, giving you that iconic chewy movement. With three wave shapes to select from, you can get sounds from smooth and soothing to glitchy, wild, and crazy.

Use the Rate slider to set how fast or slow the LFO is oscillating. A lower rate gives a gentle wavering texture, while a higher rate gives a rapid pulsating effect.

The Depth slider controls the strength of the tremolo effect. Move the slider to the left for subtle tremolo or to the right for maximum chop.

The Volume slider sets the overall output volume of the pedal.

The slide switch allows you to change between three distinct oscillator waveforms:

Sine: Gradually adds and decreases volume smoothly for a easy and subtle tremolo.

Notes: This is a complete mini synthesizer that only requires CV and Gate from your midi to CV converter. You can use an AKAI Mini Keyboard or Arturia KeyStep for example. As long as the product has CV and GATE outputs, you can musically control the CSVCO module. This is a great first-time module, or a great percussive voice to add to your electronic singer section.

The CSVCO is similar to the 'toy' algorithm on the mutable braids module, and the weird noise ring (kinda).

-When the Shift Register is put into random mode using the toggle switches you can create the classic arcade noise sound found on the Atari, and defender arcade game.
-The shift register can loop into more musical overtones, using the toggle switches, that also resemble early Atari pulse wave sounds.

These are the only two modules that BLM were able to confirm use the same related approach of using many pulse harmonics to sculpt the sound. There is no firmware, or simulation happening on the CSVCO. The module is an analogue and CMOS logic hybrid module. There are many modular sections involved to make this happen. It would take many modules to attempt to make your own CSVCO patch on your modular.

You would need the following: Triangle VCO, x2 clock generator, Shift Register module, High Pass Filter, VCA, Envelope Generator, Sub Division Pulse Generator Module, Logic xor, Logic AND, Logic Invert modules, and a mixer module. This would easily take up 64-84hp. Such a complicated patch on your system would probably not work as good as the CSVCO.

It can also be used for bright percussive sounds. All of this tracks +5 octaves, musically.

The CSVCO contains so many over tones (mathematically sub divided), that it is indeed producing chords. The EXT trigger input 'rolls the wheel of chance', and changes the overall tone of the shift register.

The CSVCO seems to sound more 'Minor' at times, it gives out a more creepy, spooky set of chords upon changing up the shift register.

The Xjam is a small, full-fledged plug-and-play MIDI controller. Due to its solid aluminum chassis, the Xjam is wonderfully portable and ideal for use outside of the studio on mobile devices.

With a 4x4 pad matrix, the 6 endless encoders and the smooth 16 pads, it provides a pleasant and expressive playing experience. In addition, the Xjam offers 48 configurations instead of the usual 16 scenes to save.

Its smooth and ultra-sensitive pads with polyphonic aftertouch are as versatile as the Xjam is in general. The 16 RGB pads also send MIDI CC, MIDI Program Change or MMC messages. There are also 6 high-quality endless encoders on board, which can be used in a variety of ways. In addition to controlling MIDI CC messages, the encoders can be assigned to send pitch, MIDI program change messages or even aftertouch messages. The Xjam comes with a powerful editor software for perfect adaption to your needs. There is also a TRS-MIDI Out socket to send signals to external sound generators.
