Keeley Bassist Limiting Amplifier Pedal (For Bass)
Cat: 782303 Rel: 04 Aug 20

Compresssion & limiting pedal
Notes: The Keeley Bassist Compressor provides true high-fidelity compression and limiting. Be heard and felt using performance compression by Keeley Engineering.

The Bassist Compressor is built around the exotic and extremely high fidelity THAT Corp. 4320. Think of it as very affordable studio-grade compressor in stomp box format! It uses high performance Voltage Controlled Amplifiers, on board true-RMS detector, and ultra high performance op-amps to bring you the very best quality. VCA compressors give you precise control. Therefore they are directly suited to bass guitars. The Keeley Bassist Compressor is both musical and very transparent. Where our older compressors were based on the CA3080 or the LM13700 and are perfect for single coil guitars, the new Keeley Bassist Compressor has no problems with active pre-amps and line level input signals! Not only can the Keeley Bassist handle astonishingly large signals, it has an incredible bandwidth of over 20 KHz and incredibly low noise. No detail in your bass guitar's tone will be lost. The Keeley Bassist will be a sound investment in your tone, you now have rack-mount quality at your feet.

Compression and Threshold

When bass players use the Keeley Bassist Compressor they will be greeted with a sound that is more easily amplified and heard. Using the effect as a limiting amplifier saves your speakers from clipping and distortion. Set the Threshold to look for peaks in your signal and limit distortion from your amplifier or damage to your speakers. Simply watch the Threshold Indicator light to see what type of playing you want to limit, it's that easy! Next set the Compression Ratio Control to determine how much squash you want when the signal is above Threshold. Set Compression all of the way down for no (1:1) compression and use the Gain control as a boost! Set Compression all of the way up for an above-Threshold hard-knee limiter.

A typical soft compressor setting would be 2:1 above threshold. A good starting ratio for the Compression control may be 4:1 as it generally sounds good with bass guitar. A ratio of 5:1 or 6:1 will sound great for slap or funk-style playing. For synth-bass try 10:1 Compression.

Attack and Release

There is a certain figure that just sounds good as far as compression goes; and that's 125 dB/second. With feed forward compressors that use this type of true-RMS detector you use a single time constant parameter. The timing capacitor gives you attack and release times that are adaptive to your playing level or the signal input to the compressor. Bottom line: Attack and Release times vary on program content. Attack times are generally speaking, about 100 times faster than release times.

Attack Time: typically 15ms for 10dB, 5ms for 20dB, 3ms for 30dB

Release Time: typically 8ms for 1dB, 40ms for 5dB, 80ms for 10dB, 160ms for 20dB, 240ms for 30dB

Specs:

Voltage Input: 9V

Current Draw: 50mA

Input Impedance 1 Meg ohm

Output Impedance: 100 ohm

Output Voltage Gain: +30dB Boost

Bandwidth > 20kHz

Total Harmonic Distortion: 0.1%

Keeley Bubble Tron	Dynamic Flanger/Phaser Pedal
Cat: 782324 Rel: 04 Aug 20

Flanger/phaser pedal
Notes: The Keeley Bubble Tron Dynamic Flanger.Phaser pedal explores some of the famous, but very hard to find sounds of the past. Keeley Engineering has created another batch of Neo-Vintage effects that never were. This time Keeley has made the Flanger and Phaser in dynamic with your pick attack and strength. Then add the Random Stepped Filter with the new "M-Style Synth" bandpass shaping feature, and you have a lead guitarist's dream tool. Shut up and play your effect pedal! Yeah, you play this thing like an extension of your mind and fingers.

The Keeley Bubble Tron Dynamic Flanger Phaser and Random Synth Filter has three modes of operation.

The Flanger section of the pedal draws on inspiration from the MicMix DynaFlanger. This incredible piece of gear was used by FZ to create many of the sounds in the late 70s to mid 80s where a dynamic flanger was used to get envelope based flanging in his solos. A dynamic flanger is one that starts and stops based on your pick attack or envelope. The word envelope is used because if you were to measure the "weight" of your guitar signal and put it in a storage container (the "envelope" is an imaginary capacitor) it can then be used to control another part of the circuit. The Bubble Tron uses your playing to start and stop the flanger. Most flangers just cycle around and around and you can hear that swooshing in the background. Not in this case, it only cycles as you play. Many flangers offer only positive or negative feedback. This one allows you to try either with the FDBK Control. The negative feedback sounds more vocal like and hollow to my ears while the positive feedback is more conventional and has a thicker, smoother sound. The Sensitivity Control allows you to set how delicately you want to play and have the flanger go fully crazy on you. You can set for crazy silverback gorilla flange or easy flangin' on Sunday morning. The Depth Control is just that, how deep you want the flanging to be.

The DynaMoPhase section of the Bubble Tron is actually two phasers. One has an LFO that you set the speed of with the Rate Control (while it's depth is dynamically controlled) and the other is a true Dynamic Phaser. It starts and stops based on your pick attack. Again, you can set the Depth and and Sensitivity of this phaser to give you a very watery sound that is all based on your guitar's signal. You can turn off the standard phaser and just run it DynaPhase by turning the Rate Control off.

The White Zone is for Loading and Unloading Only.

The only effect that isn't dynamic is the Filter Section of the Bubble Tron Dynamic Flanger Phaser. With the Filter you can control the different ramps or random nature of the pedal with the Shape Control. The very exciting part of this pedal is the Sensitivity Control which is actual like a vintage synth style bandpass filter control. It shapes the bandpass filter on the filter and gives you some incredible keyboard like sounds.

One very nice side effect of dynamic based effects is that they don't produce the constant, swooshing sound of LFO based effects.

If you're a lead guitar player that likes to explore and has never had the kind of expression or dynamics from your sound effects that you have in your mind, this is for you. If you are a sound-experimentalist, this is for you! The sounds are nearly endless in that your input shapes what the effect will do.

Keeley Caverns Delay & Reverb V2 Delay Pedal
Cat: 782331 Rel: 04 Aug 20

Delay/reverb pedal
Notes: All the reverb and analogue-style delay you could wish for in a single pedal thanks to this killer all-rounder. Separate foot switches for reverb and delay on/off, with optional true bypass or 'trails' setting.

Supplier notes:
The Caverns Delay Reverb V2 dual-effect pedal combines delay and reverb for the perfect end to any pedal board. It features Keeley's analog-style tape delay with modulation options. The 650ms of warm delay combine with Spring, Shimmer or Modulated Reverb. Caverns now comes with a True-Bypass or Trails option. Because of its small and compact design, the New Caverns is a perfect fit for any fly-rig or small board where you have tight space requirements. The New V2 features Keeley's most popular time-based effects, blended perfectly via a design fine-tuned for over 2 years. Simply put, it will be an amazing addition to any board.

The Reverb side of the pedal features 3 cavernous sounds:

Spring Mode - Blackface Amp style spring reverb with F Style Tremolo
Modulation Mode - Choral modulation to the reverb for a huge, cavernous space
Shimmer Mode - Reverb with emphasis on octave-up voices in the reverb trails

The Delay side of the pedal incorporates Keeley's popular Magnetic Echo circuit, which is designed to emulate analog tape delay lines. Three way switchable modulation gives you options for adding Wow and Flutter to the repeats. Perfectly voiced echoes sit well in the mix, either clean or with distortion.

The New Caverns Delay Reverb V2 builds on the old Caverns pedal by giving players a more open and logical control layout with more space between the foot switches.

Top-Mounted Jacks allow for a compact pedalboard layout.

True-Bypass or Trails option gives you the freedom to create huge caverns of sounds and lets them ring out even after you turn the pedal off. Our buffers are engineered to retain your tone and to feed your amplifier a full-strength signal.

The New Caverns Delay Reverb V2 is entirely built in the US. Keeley's veteran crew builds the most reliable and road-worthy gear.

Use 2 TRS Breakout cables for effects patching or to use the Caverns with a pro switching system.

Keeley Compressor Plus Classic Compressor Pedal With Added Tone And Blend Control
Notes: The Keeley Compressor is the most popular boutique compressor in the world.

The Keeley Compressor Plus is the first true advancement in Keeley's 2 and 4 knob compressor line. The new features are simple and straight forward. Now, there is a simple Release Switch that is tuned for single coils or humbuckers. No more wondering if you have the attack or release set right. Your humbuckers will have all the attack and punch that they should. The Tone Control was also added, which emphasizes the most sensitive harmonics that can be lost in compression. The Compressor Plus now sports a Blend Control that retains the peaks in your playing and, more importantly, the proper phasing of your guitar signal. The Keeley Compressor Plus offers the same gorgeous push of frequencies and sweetening of tone that the old comps gave you, now with the flexibility to easily handle any instrument.

The Keeley Compressor Plus is a compressor with an expander/sustainer. Not only does it act as a regular compressor, limiting the peaks in your playing, it adds more and more gain as notes fade out. Now you have sustain. Nothing worse than a note or a bend that has died before its time. The Keeley Compressor Plus adds just the right amount of sustain and expressive bloom to your notes.

The new Release Switch on the Keeley Compressor Plus is designed to make it very easy to transition between single coil and humbucker guitars. Humbuckers have more average energy than single coils which can cause compressors to stay in "compression mode" for a lot longer. When this happens, any series of notes you play will sound dull. With the quick release of the new Compressor Plus, your humbuckers remain true sounding, and each note retains dynamic attack and definition.

The Tone Control is Keeley's own design taken from analog delays and other vintage effects. Those effects used an emphasis circuit to recover treble and highs after they went through the BBD or other analog delay lines. That circuit was then taken and made it into a full fledged tone controll- it is the perfect way to gently add back in those highs lost in the compression process.

The Blend Control is a way of getting the peaks to come through while having sustain at the same time. So if you want sustain more than peak-limiting, this style of Manhattan Compression is for you! Keep all the peaks and transients with the Blend and Tone Controls while adding sustain on the back end. Heaven!

This compressor isn't just for heavy funk or chicken pickin' anymore. The new Compressor Plus is for players wanting a smooth, subtle wash from their guitar. Remove just the right amount of peaks for an ambient layer and then blend in the right amount of treble for a nice shimmer to your guitar. Use with your favorite fuzz to create a wall of tone like you've only heard on records. Looping has never been easier than with this compressor. Consider it an essential tool when creating loops that sound well-balanced. Forget it all and use the Compressor Plus for the best amp boost you've heard. Nothing pushes an amp better than the Keeley Compressor Plus.

Keeley D&M Drive & Boost Pedal
Cat: 782395 Rel: 04 Aug 20

Drive & boost pedal
Notes: The D&M Drive is the perfect storm of Drive and Boost. The D&M offers a gorgeous sounding high-voltage Boost side which is designed to impart the perfect tone on any amp that needs to be pushed. No longer will you wonder what the perfect clean boost should be. As you roll things up, the drive morphs your tone into singing gold. A sexy and smoothly saturated midrange voice appears which breathes confidence. The Drive side offers everything you would want in a powerful gain stage. From flat honest overdrive that is perfect for any set of chords to searing hot lead work with tons of sustain. The Drive is the perfect counterpoint to the Boost. Not only does each side of the pedal provide rewarding guitar tones, they can be used to stack together for an out-of-this-world experience. The pro switching system developed for the D&M Drive allows you to select which side of the pedal comes first. What's more, you can configure the pedal to work in a pro switching system like the G2 for independent Boost/Drive use!

That Boost
Are you looking for something in between a clean boost, such as the high voltage Keeley Katana, and a germanium modded professional overdrive? If so, the D&M is the answer. To get things started, the D&M Drive delivers insane amounts of headroom. Then, a distinct midrange voice can be dialed in to give you the lead voicing you dream of. When dialed in, it can give you the punch and clarity of a horn yet be subtle and smooth in saturation in order to give you a warm overdrive filled with tons of sustain. Expect it to work well with any amp or rig.

That Drive
Multiple Gain Stages is where it's at. This drive delivers. From its lowest settings, where you feel like you've discovered the perfect pro sounding overdrive, to the roar of a high-end amp, the multiple gain stage Drive delivers a heavily saturated punch. And the headroom here is no slouch. Use it to find that delicate balance between drive and amp saturation for the core of your tone. Turn up the Drive to give yourself a dynamic and searing tube-like gain that excels in sustain. The D&M is designed for quick attack with plenty of high and low end. Rich harmonic gain and sustain with dynamics is what this side offers.

That Switching
Daniel Steinhardt from TheGigRig insisted that this was a versatile dual-gain box that wasn't limited in any way with its two simple stomp switches. You select the order! A simple toggle allows you to configure the pedal so that when both the Drive and Boost are on, you decide which is first. If you want to have a smooth and round tone to go into a richly driven amp-like gain stage - or if you want a highly driven tone with edge and harmonics to be then boosted with clarity and refinement, it's your choice. Not only that, but Daniel had the engineers incorporate his idea for TRS insert cables so that this pedal would easily integrate into a professional switching system like the G2. Now pedalboard designers can configure the D&M Drive to act as two independent pedals, switching between either side of the pedal as it were its own stand alone effect.

Keeley Dark Side Modern Fuzz Pedal With Rotary, Vibrato & Delay
Cat: 782380 Rel: 04 Aug 20

Fuzz pedal
Notes: We should all be so lucky as to be identified by the sound of a single note. Some players are so well defined that their entire musical journey can be heard in a single note they play. Tone is in the fingers. Tone is in the mind. Effects can be a great way of expressing emotions or creating textures. The Dark Side is about creating sounds and adding new tones to your symphony. It's the things you can't create with your fingers or mind. It's metasymphonic. The Dark Side provides all the textures that define an essence, in one pedal.

The individual pieces that make up the Dark Side workstation are Fuzz, Delay and Modulation. The Fuzz side of the Dark Side is a big fuzz style distortion based on a 1977 op-amp style, which was also used for Keeley's Psi Fuzz. This one is completely and radically different. Many changes have been made to extract the nuances of earlier transistor based fuzzes. This pedal lets your guitar sing with sustain, yet retains the essence of you guitar whether single coil or humbucker based.

The next core element in the Dark Side pedal is the Delay and Modulation side. You can select between a multi-head tape delay effect or between a combination of 4 different modulation sounds. The Dark Side delay has 12 different syncopated delays. They are rhythmic and have the tonal quality of the old spinning drum tape delays. The Dark Side has many subtle filters to get the tape delay setting to have the feel and warmth of the original machines, yet gives you range of control to have modern features like expression pedal control for the number of repeats. You can use it for creating a feedback oscillation delay. Extremely subtle modulations in the delay make it very musical.

The next atom in this workstation is the modulation effect. There are four parts to this effect. Flanger, Rotary Speaker Cabinet, U-Vibe, and Phaser. You can blend between the "Electric Lady" Flanger and a Les-Rotary cabinet, creating new sounds. You can find that perfect blend between a vintage sounding opto-coupler based U-Vibe and the little orange phaser.

There is also an Expression Pedal port on the pedal. It is highly recommended to have an expression pedal handy. You can make many adjustments on the fly that just increase the fun and functionality of the pedal while you're creating music. It has to be a TRS style expression pedal- it is recommended to use something like the M-Audio or Moog expression pedals.

Delay & reverb pedal
Notes: Ultra-tweakable delay and reverb designer based on powerful DSP chips. Dial in everything from vintage tape delays to plate reverbs, modulated stereo echo effects and more.

Supplier's Notes:

The Keeley Delay Workstation is a powerful, dual DSP processor delay and reverb machine. Combining Keeley's unique delay and reverb patches in an incredibly small package, the Delay Workstation is an extremely creative tool.

Keeley Dyno My Roto Tri-Chorus, Rotary & Flanger Pedal
Cat: 782399 Rel: 18 Aug 20

Tri-chorus.rotary/flanger pedal
Notes: You want tri-chorus in a pedal? Try the new Keeley Dyno My Roto!

Finally you can get those 80's vintage rack chorus sounds that define killer chorus sounds. This was not an easy development. The Dyno My Roto is a tough and difficult thing to accomplish in such a small package and we couldn't leave good enough alone. Keeley have added a Flanger and a Leslie Cabinet simulator.

The magic to the chorus sound in the Dyno My Roto is the three LFOs that give you lush modulations that truly sing out like a chorus of guitars. Most chorus pedals, in fact nearly all, are simply two voice, one straight and one modulated. This offers twice the amount of joy by modulating another voice. That significantly reducing the ability to just hear one voice being affected and smears a couple voices in an effect that is truly enjoyable to listen to.

Keeley have come up with a new Rotary Cabinet package that give you a Proximity Control. The Proximity Control controls how far away you are from the spinning speaker cabinet. This adds a depth and distance to the cabinet and is a touch like a reverb control. It gives you that spatial expanse that can give you presence or depth in the chorus-like rotations. Lastly, while we were spinning things, we crafted a RotoFlange sound that has a simple negative feedback control. Easy to use and gets you the most classic flanger sounds possible.

So whether you are going for a Alex Lifeson of Rush tone, a Andy Summers of the Police tone, or an SRV Crossfire rotary tone, we have you covered in one box with the Dyno My Roto.

(It's a dead-on reissue Marshallr did with crazy cool custom-made vintage-recreation speakers and dual transformers to transfer the load of the 4 EL-84s!)

The El Rey covers a lot of classic British amp tones by featuring two gain modes with the Power Toggle. With the Power Toggle switch you have control over the compression and harmonics. Low Power mode is louder, has more girth, and has fewer harmonics for a more old-school tone. The High Power mode has more compression, more harmonics, and a tighter, more defined tone. Notes: The Keeley Compressor GC-2 Limiting Amplifier. The same great professional compression/limiting technology available in our Bassist Limiting Amplifier, for musicians and compressor fans of all kinds!

The Keeley Compressor GC-2 Limiting Amplifier is built around the exotic and extremely high-fidelity THAT Corp. 4320. Think of it as very musical studio-grade compressor in stomp box format! It uses high performance Voltage Controlled Amplifiers, on board true-RMS detector, and ultra-high performance op-amps to bring you the very best quality. This type of compressor gives you precise control and very musical results. This along with a full frequency range means that the GC-2 Limiting Amplifier compressor is well suited for guitar, keyboards, drum machines and, really, anything you can throw at it. The Keeley GC-2 Limiting Amplifier is both musical and transparent. Where our older compressors were based on the CA3080 or the LM13700 and are perfect for that "Compressor Effect" and are still in use by tens of thousands of players, the new Keeley GC-2 is a different style compressor, aimed at being the ultimate in low noise and transparency. Not only can it handle astonishingly large signals, but it has an incredible bandwidth of over 20 KHz. No detail in your guitar's tone will be lost. The Keeley GC-2 will be a sound investment in your tone-you now have genuine rack-mount quality at your feet.

When musicians use the new Keeley Compressor GC-2, they will be greeted with a sound that is more easily amplified and heard. Using the effect as a limiting amplifier saves your speakers from clipping and distortion. Set the Threshold to look for peaks in your signal and limit distortion from your amplifier or damage to your speakers. Simply watch the Threshold Indicator light to see what type of playing you want to limit; it's that easy! Next, set the Compression Ratio Control to determine how much squash you want when the signal is above Threshold. Set Compression all of the way down (1:1) for no compression and use the Gain control as a boost. Set Compression all of the way up for an above-Threshold, hard-knee limiter.

There is a certain figure that just sounds good as far as compression goes, and that's 125 dB/second. With feed-forward compressors that use this type of true-RMS detector you use a single time-constant parameter. The timing capacitor gives you attack and release times that are adaptive to your playing level or the signal input to the compressor. Bottom line: Attack and Release times vary on program content. Attack times are, generally speaking, about 100 times faster than release times.

Attack Time: typically 15ms for 10dB, 5ms for 20dB, 3ms for 30dB

Release Time: typically 8ms for 1dB, 40ms for 5dB, 80ms for 10dB, 160ms for 20dB, 240ms for 30dB

Keeley Hooke Reverb Spring/Octave Reverb Pedal With Tremolo
Cat: 782425 Rel: 04 Aug 20

Reverb/tremolo pedal
Notes: The new Hooke Spring Reverb from Keeley brings vintage tube-amp spring reverb and tremolo into one package. Bring your Blackface reverb and tremolo on the road with you without lugging around your prized possession! Choose from Classic Spring, Blackface Trem-n-Verb, or an organ-like Fugue-Verb.

The Hooke Spring Reverb begins with a Spring Reverb mode. The main features of this mode include the Tone and Spring controls. The Tone control allows you to work within the range of bright and spanky to dark and thick. The Spring control is the amount "looseness" or "Sproing!" in the reverb pan. Loose springs seem to generate a lot of reflections, and you can hear the reverb "bounce." With the Hooke, you can simulate a specific reverb pan of a vintage amp, two-springs, three-springs, short, medium, long decay ... it's all in there. What's more, combinations of these two controls allow you to fine-tune the tone and the character of the springs and tubes in order to dial in your favorite vintage reverb response. The depth and warmth of the Hooke reverb is simply remarkable. It's one of our finest creations.

Trem-n-verb is designed to give you the ultimate Fullerton, CA black panel Vibrato channel reverb. Everyone knows that it's not really (pitch) vibrato, it's tremolo. Keeley have EQ'd and filtered the sound to not only be tube-like, also crafted a tonal modification that makes for a deep, throbbing tremolo. By adjusting the bias of the output tubes for the volume tremolo, you also dip the volume of the reverb. A special recipe has been created in which the reverb washes over the tremolo texture just a little thickened in order to craft a tone that is truly magical.

The Hooke Reverb needed something crazy, something that just didn't exist. Ah, yes, all wet. All wet is where magic can happen. No original signal, all wet spring reverb with octave up and down. Church Organ, Organ Reverb, Fugue It! Get Hooked and Go Fugue!

Keeley Katana Mini Clean Boost Pedal
Cat: 782428 Rel: 04 Aug 20

Clean boost pedal
Notes: Mini Katana Clean Boost- Keeley's oldest design made smaller and with tasteful updates including an additional feature. The Katana started back in 2002 within the Time Machine Boost. It was a dual class A JFET design that gave players and incredible boost and sounded so good they never turned off. In fact they often ran two or three on stages like John Mayer! The Mini Katana boost provides over 35dB of boost. Enough for the most demanding players and sound reinforcement.

The new Mini Katana is now a 4 Mode Booster! With the dual micro switches you have a total of four sounds possible. Need drive, just flip the micro Hi-Gain Switch inside and you've got overdriven tone! Flip the Hi-Cut Switch (NEW for the Katana Mini!) on the inside and you have a warmer tone to soften any Strat or Tele. Flip both switches and you have the ultimate sounding boost, thick, creamy, tube-amp sounding, and plenty of volume on tap!

Obsessed with cleanest, most enjoyable tone boosted? Well, Before other people started using Blue LED's and non-diode clipping stages, there was the TMB and Katana.... Cascading FET stages do the tube-amp-thing like nothing else!

Now made smaller, it will fit any board - any budget. Enjoy a tasteful update to the pedal that redefined clean boost in the boutique era!

Keeley Loomer Wall Of Fuzz Pedal
Cat: 782429 Rel: 18 Aug 20

Fuzz/reverb pedal
Notes: The Loomer is a Wall-Of-Fuzz drenched in a Wash-Of-Reverb.

Heavy Gain, Soft Focus, Reverse, Cascading Octave Feedback, Tremolo Bar Strummed Reverb.

A stoned, morning floaty, messed up, thrill machine is what it is. Washes of reverb in new ways you've not heard in a stomp box before and a fuzz that's like a cigarette burn on your forearm. It rages.

Jesus, Mary, and Reverbs
Can't live without these three and the new reverbs are born of a Shoegaze dream.

Hall
Super long ambient wash with the ability to add octave regeneration in the feedback loop. More than shimmer it's more like ascension shimmer.

Reverse
Set different delay times with the Decay control which gives you rhythmic reverse. This is based on the Yamaha SPX90 and the Alesis Midiverb II. This is not a true reversed reverb as it reads through a delay line at various points in the delay while increasing in volume. The Decay control is more of a switch in that it is chooshing between 8 different set "decay" times: 150ms, 200ms, 250ms, 300ms, 350ms, 400ms, 450ms, and 500ms allowing you to set all kinds of delay times in which the notes come back at you.

This is where it gets really cool. The vibrato in this mode is envelope controlled. The range runs from 0 to 50ms of time shift.Tone control is loosely based on the Jazzmaster rhythm tone control with a low pass filter centered at 156.6Hz Strum hard at it pitch bends like you are playing the trem bar on a Jazzmaster or Jaguar! Combine the two for an unreal dual-guitar player effect!

Soft Focus
Because all of the reverbs can go All-Wet by means of the Blend Control, this is a great approximation of the Yamaha FX500 patch. Soft Focus Reverb features a dense reverb with two delays in parallel (one set for 250ms, the other set for 380ms.)

Keeley Magnetic Echo Delay Vintage "Tape Echo" Style Delay Pedal
Cat: 782430 Rel: 18 Aug 20

Delay pedal
Notes: The Mag-Echo pedal simulates tube tape echo sounds by using the delay circuit and a little bit of modulation. Tape echos have long been regarded as a warm and very guitar friendly form of delay. The Mag-Echo achieves similar results by using a touch of Lo-Fi delay, a slightly filtered echo response to keep things warm, and some modulation. Modulation, or "Wow and Flutter" in the tape world is a slight pitch shift or wavering that occurs as the tape is pulled across the heads. The modulation used is similar to what is uses in Keeley's Seafoam Chorus, a slight wavering of pitch on the trails of the repeats. With a simple set of controls for the delay Time, Regen, and Level and with the "Wow and Flutter" controls - Depth and Rate you can create some very vintage or rather unique tones.

Delay Time - This Time control roughly sets the length between your repeats between 40ms and 600ms. This range is well suited for classic, vintage delay sounds that are great for slap-back or medium length delay times.

Regen - This control sets the number of repeats. You can set this for a single slap back echo or turn it up for a runaway, self-oscillating or self-regenerating echoes. (Now go back and twist the Time control for some crazy sounds!)

Delay Level - The Level control is your mix, how loud you want to hear the echoes.

WOW AND FLUTTER CONTROLS

Depth - Turn this control to achieve deeper and deeper chorusing and pitch shifting on your echoes. As you raise the control the Depth and Rate LED will start to glow giving you a visual indication as to the amount of modulation you are applying to the repeats.

Rate - This is your Flutter control. It's another way to control how poorly your tape echo is performing! Not that any tape deck was every in this bad of condition, but it sure sounds good to have a little pitch modulation on your echo! Using these controls gives you a nice way to create unique and very musical delays.

Whether you're into Rockabilly slap-back echoes, experimental sounds, or just want a great classic rock sounding echo, the Magnetic Echo will sound great in your rig.

Keeley Electronics started to develop and produce this delay way back in 2005. But as things happened, we worked on other projects, always keeping an eye on the growing delay and echo market. We sure you will be very happy with the tone of this echo/delay/modulation effect.

It's pretty clear from this unbiased shoot-out that the Magnetic Echo wins. The delays sound more like the original and not as filtered and cut off. The modulation is more sophisticated. Price point is the same!

Keeley Memphis Sun Lo-Fi Reverb, Echo & Double-Tracker Pedal
Cat: 782474 Rel: 04 Aug 20

Reverb/echo/double tracker pedal
Notes: The new Memphis Sun - Lo-Fi Reverb, Echo and Double-Tracker is Keeley's second studio themed pedal. Like the Keeley 30ms ADT, this pedal gives you a wealth of tones for capturing that classic Rock-and-Roll sound as well as sounds you've not heard before. It's NeoVintage. It's an Echo and Reverb pedal.
Toggle through the different effects presets:

SLAPBACK 600 - Echo for long delays
SUN MODE - Auto Track-Doubling and slapback with short delays
ROOM - Studio simulation reverb

Both of the ECHO 600 and SUN MODE effects have a Room Reverb.

It's a one-knob, rock and roll type of room reverb.

SLAPBACK 600

Rock and Roll is the Devil's music, right? So of course, the delay time is up to 666ms to simulate some unearthly echo machine that never really existed. Filtering in the Slackback mode is done in stages. First, the response is heavily filtered at 1 kHz then compress the thing. Remember the concept: pack a bunch of sound in a small room and it compresses. Next, it's filtered again at 1 kHz ! Sounds like Rock and Roll, right? Aaron Tackett is the Rock and Roll Doctor of DSP at Keeley. Not only is he devilishly good looking, he has a way of making waves look good - adding curves, so to speak. He has added 2nd and 3rd order harmonics to this mix to simulate tape response and equipment distortions. Waves folded back on themselves. You're gonna love his curves.

Time 30-666ms m/ m/
Regen As Jack White says: "Three." Up to three repeats. Or sometimes six....
Reverb Old Rock-and-Roll Room Reverb.

Sun Mode

Let's Do it Twice Mama, It's Alright! Automatic Double Tracking (ADT) was not available in the 1950s, but it's sneaked in here because it makes a wonderful sound. And, if you lengthen the time, it goes right into slapback territory which is at the heart of Country and Rock and Roll guitar sounds. Like our Keeley 30ms, this pedal will do ADT. The Memphis Sun creates a vintage-voiced double-track in mono. Your guitar-playin' "Gemini-Twin" has a very warmed-up tone. Adjusting the Time Control lets you easily create anything from Double Tracking to Slapback with up to 180ms of delay time.

Time Delay Time is 0-180ms. For Automatic Double-Tracking set this control at the second mark or lower, 0-30ms. For slapback echo 30-180ms sounds great. The knob markers notate 0,30,60, 90, 120, 150, and 180ms
Regen Modulation for the ADT. Set to OFF for NO Rate or Depth. Increasing this control increases both the Rate and Depth of "Tape" modulation.
Reverb It's Still Rock-and-Roll Room Reverb to Me

Room

The Room Reverb simulates a small 33' by 18' asbestos-tiled room so filled with music the sounds actually get compressed- with the frequency response of the mics used back then taken into account. The RCA 77 is loosely simulated by a group of filters including a HPF = 300 Hz and LPF = 8 kHz. Many artifacts are incorporated in our room reverb. And second and third order harmonics are added to make sure it sounds just right.

Time is the Pre-Delay amount: 0-150ms of pre-delay. This allows for a slapback sound as the first reflections come into focus.
Regen is the Tone control: this is an active filter +/- 10 dB and is centered around 1.1 kHz.
Reverb is the Depth control for the reverberations.

That's What I Say Rockin' Robbin!
NeoVintage - Low Fidelity. That's right. That's what I say. This doesn't sounds like some merry band of pixie nymphs playing digital fiddles in your ear.
