Review: Anyone looking to bolster the freakier end of their techno collection could do worse than checking out this bumper compilation from Advance Public Listening. It is a mighty four vinyl box set with tens of tracks across eight sides of heavyweight vinyl (that makes the whole thing weigh in at not that for off a kilo of wax.) It takes in plenty of experimental sounds, ambient laced tracks for 5am dreaming and mind melting cuts for the after party. There are also wonky peak time workouts and plenty in between from a classy selection of artist from all over the world.

Review: We are always excited when a vinyl reissue of German legends Kraftwerk comes in, and so should you! Some of their earliest and most seminal recordings are compiled here on Collection, such as 'Ruckzuck', 'Megaherz' and 'Vom Himmel Hock' which are taken from the band's 1970 debut release ('Silver Forest' appeared as a bonus track on some other versions), the exclusive 'Kakteen, Wuste, Sonne' is taken from a previously unofficial release the next year, and there's the addition of the much sought after rarity 'Ruckstoss Gondoliere'.

Review: Emmanuel Top's Attack Records epitomises the zenith of 1990s techno-acid brilliance. The French maestro sculpted a sonic landscape that remains as fresh today as it was decades ago. Tracks like 'Turkish Bazar' and the enigmatic 'Acid Phase,' with its heavy acid bleeps, stand tall among the era's techno elite, exuding a trancey, main stage allure. Now, after thirty years, these seminal tracks return to vinyl in a meticulously crafted 5 x 12" box set. Remastered with care, each track receives its own vinyl side, allowing for an immersive sonic experience that DJs and audiophiles will relish. This collection is not merely a nostalgic trip down memory lane but a testament to Emmanuel Top's enduring influence on electronic music. Tracks like the aptly named 'Climax V 13' do heavy damage on dancefloors worldwide. For fans of 90s techno and those seeking a glimpse into its pulsating heartbeat, this box set is a treasure trove. Emmanuel Top's legacy shines brightly, encapsulating the essence of a genre-defining era, while propelling it into the future for new generations to discover and appreciate.

Review: Deep tech megastar Solomun delivers a heartwarming message in album form, 'Nobody Is Not Loved'. We'd be inclined to agree. This stonking take on, well, everyone and everything, is naturally a collaborative affair, blending ultimate trance breakdowns and gut-wrenching vocoder mantras with digestible progressions made in collaboration with such musical icons as Anne Clark, Zoot Woman, Planningtorock and Isolation Berlin. It's thus a horizon-expansion for the international star DJ, who professes to many more influences on this project than just his house contemporaries.

Review: It's fair to say that few other labels would retain such a degree of consistency and adventure over the duration of a compilation series as Cocoon have done with their alphabetized collections. Arriving at the letter N, Sven Vath's label once again draws together tracks from artists close to Cocoon as well as some less associated across six slabs of vinyl. If you graced Ibiza over the summer season you may well have heard papa Vath dropping some of the tracks contained within at Cocoon's residency at Amnesia. In terms of tracklisting, it's a typically diverse affair with the various shades of techno from Lucy, Ricardo Tobar and Truncate complemented by the presence of Aril Brikha, Markus Fix, Ripperton and more.

Review: Following up the terrific 'Little We Know' EP a mere few weeks ago by Hamburg heroes Extrawelt on Traum Schallplatten, they are right back with this amazing full length on the powerhouse Cocoon imprint.15 years into their careers, it was never their plan to release a 'best of' album, but here it is. Extra Welt Hits is a time capsule drenched in the essence of the act's DNA. Accentuated by newly remastered tracks that serve their ever evolving, clever and out-of-the-box sound. Highlights come in the form of the brooding minimal funk of 'Fernweh', the ethereal and introspective remix of Minilogue's 'The Leopard' and the slinky and hypnotic live version of 'Dark Side Of The Room'.

Review: ***B-STOCK: Box damaged, product in perfect working order***

You can always rely on the Cocoon compilations to bring you a high level of quality control and an authoritative overview of the state of techno around the time of release. This mammoth six-LP set will give you a lot of music to work with, and it's featuring a dizzying cast of high-end operators starting with the mighty Stephen Brown. Each track gets a side of vinyl to itself, serving as a kind of statement for how much faith the label put in each of these 12 tracks. Amongst the best on this top-drawer comp are Daniel Avery's metallic, spellbinding 'Your Future Looks Different In The Light' and Carl Finlow's lithe electro workout 'Surface Control', but as you might well expect each track is one you'll turn to again and again to give your mix some spice.

Review: 33 Tours Et Puis S'en Vont marks a fine return for this true legend of techno. It has come in all formats and now arrives as limited hand-numbered gatefold coloured vinyl triple 12" box set plus CD, digital download, poster and sticker sheet making it the ultimate collector's edition. Contained within is Garnier's first solo long player in some eight years. It is one that focuses squarely on the dance floor with plenty of his fizzing, synth-heavy techno. Next to those bombs are plenty of lush vocal cuts that take their inspiration from hip-hop and broken beat, while 'Sado Miso' even finds him laying down some fresh thinking drum & bass.

Review: If you're going to produce a box set to celebrate your label's 25th birthday, you may as well do it in style. That was certainly Michael Reinboth's thinking when he put together this luxurious set marking a quarter of a century since the launch of his admired Compost Records imprint. It boasts no less than ten slabs of wax containing fresh remixes of catalogue cuts from a stellar cast of house, techno and disco producers (think Glenn Underground, Zenker Brothers, Francois K, Ron Trent, Moodymann, Mark E and Gerd Janson) and a handful of killer bonus cuts (most notably early Move D classic "Hurt Me"). In addition, the box also contains two mix tapes, a pin badge, bag and tons of stickers. Basically, it's a beautiful item packed full of quality music and label merchandise.

Review: Swiss label Drumpoet has been one of those super reliable outlets that serves up good quality deep house. It has now been doing so for 15 years and marks the occasion with a bumper triple vinyl collection featuring 13 cuts from all the label's finest associates. There is brilliantly left-of-centre minimal from Roman Flugel and Frank Weidermann to kick off, then melody-rich deep house from Bubble Wrap, and an absolute classic from the one and only Herbert who supplies 'Air.' Plenty more lushness comes from the likes of Fred Everything and Ripperton to make this a fine collection.

Review: For Detroit techno there is Juan Atkins and Carl Craig, for dub techno there is Basic Channel and Rod Modell aka DeepChord. The Echospace label remasters a selection of tracks from a blitz of EPs DeepChord released in 2001. It's a rare opportunity to bask once more in the rhythmically-weighted and dissolvent ambience of Rod Modell and Mike Schommer early releases. All tracks featured on the triple marbled vinyl package either traverse well below the realms of charted sub-sonics or ethereally waver high above the clouds, secluded from dynamic tension, exploring subtle variations in pitched based harmonics instead. A must have for the dub techno lover.

Review: Here's something conceptual from everyone's favourite veteran French DJ/producer: an expansive box set containing tracks from his five thrillingly varied 2014 EPs, a previously unheard 12" (entitled Honey, I'm Home), and a shedload of brand new remixes from the likes of Marc Romboy, Traumer and Husbands. Furthermore, the box set marks the surprise resurrection - for this release only, apparently - of Garnier's once-lauded F Communications label. Musically, La Home Box is rather typical of the French legend, including as it does blistering techno, throbbing house, quirky electronica and bumpin' instrumental hip-hop. If that's not enough to get you reaching for your wallet, he's also included a bonus CD and numbered poster. Tres bien!

Review: 32 years after their fittingly titled single 'Anthem' became one of the biggest crossover club hits of 1990, Food Music has decided to celebrate the career of leading rave-era duo N-Joi. It's a welcome development, not least because many of the pair's singles and cult cuts have lasted the test of time rather well. For proof, check out the bleep (and Unique 3 in particular) inspired 'Techno Gangsters', the bouncy piano-house rush of 'Jah Heaven', the raw, stab-happy breakbeat hardcore insanity of 'Manic' and the breathless, warehouse-ready acid techno stomp of 'Mindflux'. Throw in the extended version of 'Anthem' - still one of the most-loved up UK club cuts of all time, and you have an essential retrospective.

Review: Previously presented as the 808 Box, Fundamentals continue their super-limited collectivist spirit with the 808 Bag. Comprising over 40 examples of contemporary electro, from artists as diverse as Hadamard and Scape One, the whole package is curated and created with serious care and attention. Spread across eight EPs, expect to be massaged by the icy synth fingers of Dpo's "Mitosis", expect to do some serious body popping to Classic Decay's "Lumiers Dans La Nuit" and anticipate some serious dark audio deviance on Solvent's "Light & Lens". Limited to only 80 copies, tributes to the most important machine in electronic music don't come much more exciting or exclusive than this!

Review: Those who've been paying close attention will know that Alex 'Omar' Smith has been mixing things up musically of late, veering away from the deep Detroit house he's famed for in order to explore a wider range of influences. New album "You Want" doesn't exactly reverse this trend, but it is far more rooted in his particular brand of seductive, off-kilter deepness and techno-tinged hypnotism than recent singles. That's undeniably a good thing, because nobody does crunchy, machine driven club jams better than the Motor City producer. There are nods towards Italian style piano house, disco, broken beat, jazz funk, Masters at Work and - more surprisingly - industrial techno (see the filthy closing cut) - but the resultant cuts don't sound like anything other than tried-and-tested Omar-S club jams.

Review: It is no secret that we here at Juno HQ are huge fans of the one and only Alex 'Omar S' Smith. He is a machine when it comes to making music and barely a year goes by without another expansive new album form the Detroit badman. Here comes this year's and it has all the things you would hope for and expect: raw, unfussy but infectious house with dusty drums and 80s synths. Supercoolwicked is a frequently appearing guest who lends these tunes alluring vocal touches while the grooves themselves are subtly, effective tweaks on Smith's tried and tested template. We are here for it.

Review: Talk about an opening statement of intent - Habitat Recordings are making the fiercest of first moves into the techno world by presenting this triple-vinyl compilation with some serious talent on board. Just check the opening round of tense, emotionally charged tech from Mind Against & Sideral, 'Criseide' and you'll get a feel for the vibe of the whole release. While there's a big-room appeal to these tracks, the emphasis is on melancholic, introspective moods such as the heartfelt piano sneaking into Dyzen's 'Talk To Me' or the intriguing re-framing of the house diva vocal in sad-eyed chords on Ivory's 'There Would Come A Day'. Sensitive souls take heed, this is the techno compilation for you.

Review: Fresh off the acclaimed reissue of his Feuerfalter LP in both parts on Harthouse last year, the legendary Frankfurt label presents another reissue of a classic LP by hi-tech minimalism engineer Boris Brejcha. Die Maschinen Kontrollieren Uns ("The Machines Are Controlling Us"). was the Frankenthal native's second album released in 2007, where the masked crusader presented a whopping sixteen tracks. A true zeitgeist of a golden era in minimal techno, tracks like 'Brainstopper' with its atonal assortment of blips and bleeps underpinned by clipped rhythms will really take you back to the old says, as will the glitchy micro-funk of "Die Maschinen sind Gestrandet" (Second Edition) or the deep tech house of "Wellenreiter (2.0)" could have been played aboard a Sunday boat party along the River Main circa 2008.

2000 06 06 Regis vs Female (feat Regis - unreleased)
Review: Downwards co-founder Peter Sutton has spent the last 25 years carving his own dark, heavy and intense niche within UK techno. Yet despite achieving cult status within techno circles, he has never received the wider acclaim that has rightly been bestowed upon his Birmingham contemporaries Regis and Surgeon, despite a trademark style that closely resembles theirs. Pleasures That Kill, an expansive five-disc box set that contains pretty much every track Sutton has released on Downwards and Sandwell District, is a much-needed attempt to redress the balance. Packed to the rafters with pulsating, twisted, all-action techno slammers, the set also contains an entire disc of previously unreleased music - specifically a rare recording of Sutton's 2000 live collaboration with Regis. For diehard fans, the set is worth buying for that CD alone.

Review: Juan Mendez took his Silent Servant project to another level when he released Negative Fascination on Hospital Productions in 2012. His EBM-informed, brooding slant on techno had already made its mark on Sandwell District and other such influential labels, but his debut album afforded the space to really shape out his seductive sonic dystopia. More than ten years on, it stands tall as a masterpiece in the space it occupies, seething with hard-boiled urban malaise but equally adept at using subtlety alongside intensity. This expanded edition incorporates the Extended Mixes 12" as well as additional demo versions for those who like the tracks a little rawer.
