VCO module that functions as a stereo oscillator, a super saw/square/triangle/sub and a chord engine,
Notes: Oscar Tria packs a lot of VCO into 10HP. There are three main modes described below.

Green Mode:

A 'traditional' stereo oscillator. In Green Mode you get the usual three waveforms - saw, triangle and square (with variable pulse width, of course) but you can continuously vary the waveform between the three. For instance, by turning the waveform knob to be just to the saw side of triangle, you get a sound very much like the Minimoog's 'shark tooth'. Green mode also gives you a square wave sub oscillator - one octave below the main oscillators - and a sub sub, two octaves below. Oscar Tria is stereo, of course, so you can detune one oscillator for a rich stereo image - or sum the two outputs to mono and you have two oscillators with two subs, for a BIG sound. Green mode also features through zero FM, and hard sync.

Yellow Mode:

Super-saw! And super-square! And super-triangle! With a sub (of course). Yellow mode allows you to control the number of oscillators making up the super-whatever, from one (not really super) to 24! Again, being stereo you get up to 12 oscillators in one channel and 12 in the other. Add the sub for a HUGE sound.

Orange Mode:

This is a chord engine, with 20 selectable chords. There are controls to select which chord you want and how many notes are played (over two octaves). CV control allows you to set pitch and chord independently, so you can set up a polyphonic sequence, for instance. Again, the output is stereo with detune control of one output.

FLAME "TAKT" rhythm sequencer.

"TAKT" is a compact 30HP Eurorack sequencer module for playing or programming trig- ger/gate/velocity rhythm sequences.

The sequencer has 8 tracks with trigger/gate outputs, 8 velocity/modulation CV outputs and full MIDI functionality. The CV track can also be used independently as a modulation track. Live sequencing in looper mode is possible in two ways: SHOTS for playing "note repeats" or quantized triggering via keys or sensors.

Four tracks can be triggered simultaneously with four external distance sensors. These sensors are just 2HP slim modules that can be rack mounted at desired locations. These are connected directly to the module with narrow and sufficiently long ribbon cables, which also supplies the sensors with the necessary operating voltage. The 4 sensors and the connection cables are included in the scope of delivery. The sensors generate trig- gers/gates and can be switched live as a set between tracks 1-4 and 5-8 (e.g. via foots- witch).

Four syncable LFOs with VCOs for amplitude adjustment are also provided. The LFOs are equipped with many interesting functions. This includes 26 different waveforms, phase, amplitude, speed and output voltage. This can be unipolar or bipolar (0..+5v or +/- 5v) and additionally attenuated by AMP (amplitude) with built-in VCA. This means that the LFO outputs can also be adapted to modules that do not have an input attenuator.

Patterns can be switched live and are each up to 4 bars long. 4 patterns plus a fill pat- tern are saved as a scene. 50 scenes can be permanently stored in the module. This means that 250 patterns are available in total.

Additional inputs and outputs for controls are available. There are 4 CV inputs to be defi- ned by the user, as well as 2 programmable analog clock outputs. On the front there are MIDI input and output as 3.5mm TRS sockets. Firmware updates can be done via MIDI- SYSEX.

Notes: Module A-165-2 includes six modification circuits for digital signals (clock, gate, trigger, start, stop etc.) which are derived from the two input signals Input 1 und 2:

inverted signal of Input 1 (labelled 1)
inverted signal of Input 2 (labelled 2)
T flipflop (toggle flipflop), controlled by Input 1, this output changes it's state whenever a the rising edge of Input 1 appears (labelled 1/2, as it works similar to a 1:2 frequency divider)
Set/Reset flipflop, this output changes it's state to "high" during the rising edge of Input 1 and turns "low" during the rising edge of Input 2 (labelled RS)
inverted output of the Set/Reset flipflop (labelled RS)
pulse output, during both the rising and falling edge of Input 1 a short trigger pulse with about 50 ms lenght is generated (labelled with the sign ± and a rectangle pulse symbol)
The outputs 2, 1/2, RS and the pulse output are equipped with LEDs that display the state of the output in question.
The output level for all six outputs can be set to 0/+5V or 0/+11V by means of a jumper on the pc board.

Voltage thresholds for the input voltages:

voltages below +0,8 V are treated as "low"
voltages above +3 V are treated as "high"
Typical applications

starting and/or stopping of events or switching operations with the RS or RS output (e.g. controlled by the trigger outputs of a sequencer, e.g. in combination with electronic switches)
generation of inverted digital signals
frequency division (1/2 output)
generation of short pulses during the rising and falling edge of a digital signal (e.g. triggering an envelope at both rising and falling edge of a gate signal).
Technical notes

The module cannot be used for bipolar signals! The negative share of the input signal will be clipped by means of a so-called clipping diode at the input of module A-165-2. This may affect the output circuitry of the module connected to the A-165-2 (depends upon the details of the output circuit and if it is protected against clipping). For the planned field of application that's normally no limitation because these signals (clock, gate, trigger) work usually only with positive voltages.
The module can be used for analog signals only to a limited extend! With analog signals the inputs of the module work as comparators and the negative share of the input signal is clipped (as mentioned above).

Notes: Solist is not your average performance mixer and mute combination - far from it. Designed in collaboration with Bries, Solist contains four channels of soft vactrol muting, controlled by tactile and pleasantly clicky mechanical switches. Solist will help make your performances shine - but most importantly, the red solo switches allow you to override the current state of the mute switches, allowing for creative transitions between solo and mute states during your performance.

While the audio circuit is fully analogue, it is also entirely isolated from the digital circuit that controls the mutes. Notes: Introducing the Cortisol Legend: a spiritual successor to one of my early designs, the Steroid Legend, it presents as 4hp of white hot saturation and hairy distortion, and features manual control over two op-amp driven gain stages, with a diode saturation control in the middle, giving you precise control over distortion ranging from smoldering saturation all the way into utter rail-to-rail fuzzification.

As for the diodes, the Cortisol Legend has two flavors on tap: Steroid Legend-inspired diodes and genuine, Cold War-era USSR-made Germanium diodes from the far reaches of Europe. These diodes are getting increasingly hard to find, but have been known for their warm and fuzzy characteristics by guitar pedal enthusiasts for years. Here, you get the genuine article, for as long as they can be reliably sourced.

In addition to having control over the saturation depth, the Cortisol Legend offers an additional control parameter: Eustress and Distress. Roll off the edge and noise a bit with a Styroflex-capacitor filter which varies with saturation depth, or leave no edge unjagged with this setting.

Speaking of noise, this thing is LOUD, so you may want to have an attenuator such as the psATT on hand, unless of course the loudness is exactly what you want. Hand in hand with the overdrive and distortion comes, of course, beautiful new harmonics added to anything from single waveforms to samples, sounds and entire mixes.

Various diodes will be available at different times, but all variants are ultimately limited - all Germanium diodes used in these are new old stock from the Cold War, and one day they will run out.. Expect individual modules to have a bit of their own character.

Frequency Central Dark Star Synthesiser Voice Module

Compact full synthesiser voice module - 16HP
Notes: A couple of years back, Frequency Central developed Cosmic Background as a standalone percussion voice. The concept was to bundle all required sub-modules behind one panel, pre-patched, yet also fully modular, with each sub-module having its own inputs and outputs. This proved to be a very popular product, but Frequency Central decided to replace Cosmic Background's noise generator with a VCO (and do a few other tweaks), creating a cute little fully modular synth voice ripe for sequencing - and that's how Dark Star was born!

Dark Star consists of 4 sections:

Voltage Controlled Oscillator based on AS3340 with sawtooth, triangle and pulse waveforms
Voltage Controlled Filter with lowpass and highpass options, Drive control, Sweep control which attenuates amount of Release CV
Release generator with CV input for voltage control of release time. Option for sustain via jumper on rear panel.
Voltage Controlled Amplifier
Together they form a pre-patched super versatile analogue synthesiser voice.

Additionally, each section is fully modular in it's own right, so there are patch points for:

1V/oct CV input
PWM CV input - attenuator doubles as manual pulse width when no external signal is present
Gate input for Release or Sustain/Release
Release CV input for voltage control of Release time
VCF audio input with attenuator, for introducing external audio
VCF CV input with attenuator (1V/oct CV is normalised to this input)
VCA audio input (VCF is normalised to this input)
VCA CV input (Release CV is normalised to this input)
Release CV output
VCO audio output
VCF audio output
VCA audio output

Here are some useful patches to try:

Release CV output to PWM CV input, for swept PWM
VCF OUT to VCF IN, thickens and further overdrives the filtering
VCO OUT to VCF CV input, for fizzy FM of the filter
Use a multiple to patch 1V/oct to Release CV input, lower notes will have longer release, higher notes will have shorter release

Drawing inspiration from the MMI Maxima, the MMI Helios is intended as a middle ground between the gestural control surface of the Maxima and the fingertip control of the smaller MMI.

Less density, but a much higher degree of patch control is the key point of the Helios, which complements other MMI devices very well, and can be joined with other Helios (Helii?) to form larger and creative control surfaces.

Notes: Sibilla is a DSP digital stereo oscillator that aims to translate into music the beauty and harshness of a semi-barren mountain. Its sound is sculpted by various saw and sine waves running through intricate delay networks, altered by LFOs, white noises and creating constructive and destructive interferences.

Both stereo channels are the output stages of two feedback audio loops.

Each loop is made up by a main sub sinusoidal wave oscillator and two saw and sine waves with frequencies affected by the generation of harmonics (right channel) and subharmonics (left channel). All waves have different phases whose offset is constantly affected by minor variations created by two pairs of grains randomly fluctuating within the waves amplitude spectrum and being sampled at a certain speed.

Notes: A-149-3 is the third module of the A-149-x range. In this group, this module present several functions of Don Buchla's "Source of Uncertainty 265/266" (SOU) modules that cannot be realized with existing A-100 modules. Some functions of Buchla's 265 and 266 SOU can be realized with existing A-100 modules.

Module A-149-3 is based on the homonymous "Fluctuating Random Voltages" by Buchla. Compared to the historic original, a lot of functions have been added. For example the user has access to virtually all internal signals (e.g. Noisy Triangle or S&H) and there are a lot of adjustable parameters which were fixed in the original.

For example, the frequency and noisiness of the internal triangle oscillator, the correlation of the S&H and manual or automatic frequency control of the S&H clock oscillator. The fixed internal connections of the original are wired to sockets in the A-149-3 and can be used also individually as the connections of the original are realized as normalled sockets. That way e.g. the S&H or slew unit can be used independent from the other units.

The functions in detail:

As in the original a digital noise signal is filtered in three different ways. The three "noise flavours" are available at three sockets and can be used for all kind of noise applications:

+3db (+3dB per octave, a bright noise, also called blue noise)
-3dB (-3dB per octave, a dark noise, also called red or brown noise, Allan Strange calls it "reciprocal white noise")
Flat (flat spectrum, also called pink noise)

In the original the -3dB output is used add some noise to an internal triangle oscillator with fixed frequency (~ 100 Hz) and fixed "noisiness". The result is called "noisy triangle". In the A-149-3 the frequency of the triangle oscillator and the level of the noisiness can be adjusted. The frequency is adusted by means of the Frq. control and the Range switch (~ 110Hz ... 5 seconds period in position high). In addition one can select between the -3dB and Flat output as noisiness source by means of an internal jumper. When Noisiness control is fully CCW one obtains a clean undisturbed triangle signal. With Noisiness control fully CW the result is a triangle signal with a lot of noise or randomness. The noisy triangle signal is available at the socket "N Tri" and is displayed with a dual colour LED.

The "N Tri" signal is normalled to the signal input of the subsequent Sample&Hold unit (S&H). The clock signal for the S&H is generated by an internal rectangle oscillator. This signal is normalled to the S&H clock socket and is displayed by an LED. One can select between manual and automatic control of the clock period by means of a toggle switch. In position "man." the period is controlled manually by the "Period" control. With control "Period" fully CCW one obtains the shortest period or highest frequency. Turning the control up increases the period or lowers the frequency. In position "auto" of the switch the period is controlled by the slew unit.

In this position a vactrol is used to define the frequency of the S&H clock. This vactrol is controlled in the same way as the vactrols of the slew unit, i.e. the period of the S&H clock changes simultaneously with the slew time. In the historic original only the auto mode was available. There was no manual control available.

The S&H has another special feature: the Correllation control. It's a feedback function where shares of the S&H output are fed back to the S&H signal input and mixed with the actual S&H input signal. The result is slurring the signal like a sub-audio lowpass filter, kind of a "digital slew function" because the gradation of the signal persists.

The S&H output is availabe at the corresponding socket and is displayed with a dual colour LED.

The S&H output is normalled to the signal input of the subsequent Slew Limiter unit (SL). The core of the slew limiter are two vactrols (vactrol = combination of a light emitting diode/LED and a light dependent resistor/LDR built into lightproof case). The brightness of the vactrol LEDs can be controlled manually (control "Man." of the slew unit) and by an external control voltage (socket "SL CV" with associated attenuator "CV" of the slew unit). The brightness of the vactrol LEDs is displayed at the top of the front planel. As already mentioned a third vactrol can be used to control the frequency of the S&H clock oscillator simultaneously to the slew limiter. The SL output is availabe at the corresponding socket and is displayed with a dual colour LED.

Due to the access facilities to many of the internal signals and connections it's possible to use the sub-units also for other applications. E.g. the noisy triangle signal, the S&H unit (incl. correlation) or the SL unit can be used for other signals. The S&H clock can be applied also from outside to synchronize the S&H to other signals.

If required, the internal clock signal is available at a pin header of the pc board.

Sisyphus is built around a granular engine and a palette of eight original filters. Its granular system allows multiple grains to coexist within a single stereo audio stream, where they combine and interact with each other.

This filter is based on a comprehensive granular approach to sound: rather than a granular engine followed by a filter, it offers true integration of filtering into the grain-generation process. Each generated grain carries the filtering characteristics defined by the musician and will be combined with other grains according to evolving, configurable patterns.

These filters have been developed entirely from scratch in-house, without using typical filter libraries, so they each have their own unique color for you to explore!

Filters

Lowpass: Attenuates high frequencies above the cutoff frequency. 12 dB/oct slope.
Highpass: Attenuates low frequencies below the cutoff frequency. 12 dB/oct slope.
Bandpass: Lets through a band of frequencies around the cutoff frequency. 12 dB/oct slope.
Notch: Dips around the cutoff frequency while letting the rest of the spectrum pass through.
Peak: Boosts the band around the cutoff frequency while allowing the rest of the spectrum to pass without a drastic cut.
Comb: Creates a series of cancellations and resonances based on an internal delay and feedback.
Karplus (Karplus-Strong: Simulates the vibration of a string or looping resonance by combining a short delay, feedback, and damping.
Ladder: Inspired by Moog-style analogue filters, with four stages in cascade. Features a steep slope (24 dB/oct) and a distinctive resonance that can reach self-oscillation.

Filter Controls

Cutoff (Cutoff Frequency):Defines the filter's cutoff frequency or center frequency (depending on filter type), ranging from 10 Hz to 20 kHz.

Resonance: Emphasises frequencies near the cutoff frequency, from a slight bump up to the edge of self-oscillation.

Feedback: Re-injects part of the output back into the filter input.

Variations: Introduces an instability in the setting of the cutoff frequency, resonance, or feedback (depending on the selected filter), allowing for a more or less "organic" filter character.

Grain Controls: The incoming sound is continuously sampled and segmented into buffers. Each segment is analysed, filtered, and then extracted to become a grain. You can change the length of each grain, the interval between grains, the way grains follow one another, how they are arranged in relation to each other, and their density (number and influence).

Grain Length: Adjusts the length of the audio grains. The shorter the grains, the more the sound fragments into a "grained" granular texture; the longer the grains, the closer the result is to the original sound, but filtered and delayed. When multiple grains are played simultaneously, longer grains make echo effects more noticeable.

Grain Interval: Determines the time between the start of two successive grains (or the probability of automatic triggering).

Pattern: Grains are organized according to predefined, adjustable patterns. Several scenarios allow you to explore different ways grains can combine, from highly organized to more chaotic.

Density: Determines how many grains are played simultaneously and their intensity.

Variability: Sets the magnitude of the special effects specific to each pattern.

Transition: Defines the shape of the envelope applied to the grains as they link together.

Input and Output: Sisyphus works with two parallel channels that share the same settings. You can use it either in stereo mode or as two separate mono audio channels.

CV Inputs: Four CV inputs allow control of Sisyphus using other Eurorack modules. These inputs accept the standard Eurorack voltages (0 to 8 V).

The four basic parameters that can be controlled via CV are: Grain Length, Density, Cutoff, and Resonance.

However, you can configure the module differently using an external file on an SD card. In that case, any CV input can be assigned to any control, the input voltage range (from 1 to 8 V) can be set, LED brightness can be adjusted, and more.

A servo is a specific type of motor that can be digitally controlled to work at precise angles. On the ADDAC320, it is controlled by a microcontroller which is able to receive an incoming CV voltage from 0 to +5v and linearly converts this voltage range to the 270 degree Servo motor range. Using a spring wire and metal couplers, the motor shaft is then attached to the target knob to be controlled, which will turn as the Servo turns.?Two other knobs, Maximum Angle and Minimum Angle, allow further control of the "sweet spot" of the target knob, establishing a smaller Servo range.

An analog/digital hybrid for better dynamic range analysis,
Notes: The new ADDAC220 Dual Envelope Follower + is ADDAC's latest stereo envelope follower, which can generate CV from two simultaneous envelopes, enabling the user to control any range of other instrument/module parameters. The module is an analog/digital hybrid, allowing greater precision and analysis of an incoming signal.

The level of an incoming audio signal gain can be set by using the Gain control. Then, the signal is then fully rectified and passed through an analog envelope follower with a fixed short attack and decay. The analog signal is then sent into a 12bit ADC (analog to digital converter) of an MCU (microcontroller unit), and hereafter the signal is processed digitally. Whenever the ADC detects audio clipping the Clip led will light up.

Then, the digitized signal is then passed through a Savitsky-Golay filter for noise reduction smoothing of the incoming signal, before it is slewed using the Attack and Decay controls. The MCU keeps a history of the last sampling points and detects the minimum and maximum values, which reflect the current dynamic range and maps the signal minimum and maximum amplitude to 0V and the maximum voltage detected.

This new mapped signal is then processed via the Response Curve control balacing the response like one would with a standard AD envelope with LOG/EXP control. The Envelope Gain attenuverter control goes up to x2 amplification and sets the attenuation / amplification factor of the output range, while the red LED monitors this level with precise visualization across the full output range

Notes: Crossover: enabling new processing possibilities: Commonly, audio crossovers are designed to split an audio signal into several frequency ranges so that each resulting signal is adequate for the speaker drivers they are connected to. Typically, low range is sent to the big woofers, mid range to smaller woofers and high range to the tweeters.

Introducing the ADDAC607, which enables users to split the signal into different bands. This creates many interesting processing possibilities. For example, by independently processing specific frequency ranges, one can add delay on only the high frequency range. Or, users split a signal to feed three different compressors for multi-band compression. Finally, DJs can use the Gain knob as a 'kill switch' to remove an entire frequency band, if desired.

Although ADDAC607 operates in Mono (for Stereo signals two modules can be used) there are two audio inputs, making it easy to achieve stereo to mono summing. The Mono Sum Out carries this summed signal. This is pre-gain and can also be used as a buffered Thru output.

The ADDAC607 is a great companion to the ADDAC220 Dual Envelope Follower+, since it allows extraction of dynamics from any signal in a focused frequency range. This allows it to separate the frequencies of a kick drum and a snare, for instance.

Designed to be a highly customizable connection matrix, 3DVCA packs a boat load of utility into a small 6HP package. Four VCAs share the three macro controls: X, Y, and Z. As a group, they shape incoming and outgoing signals and emulate the coordinates of a point in 3 dimensional space. This allow the VCAs to work together in a mono, stereo, or quad configuration and accomplish a variety of mixing, crossfading, and panning functions.

3DVCA is designed to be used in the following functions:

Dual stereo crossfader
Stereo balancer
Stereo VCA
Mono to stereo panner
Unity mixer with up to eight inputs
Quadraphonic panner

Each output has a dedicated SUM input which allows an external signal to be automatically mixed into the output signal. This allows 3DVCA to daisy chain both with other mixers and other 3DVCAs. For example, you can create a full mono, stereo, or quadraphonic mix by plugging the output of each 3DVCA into the sum inputs of the next 3DVCA in the chain. Using this method, a set of 3DVCAs can create a fully voltage controlled and decentralized mixer which ties together anything from a small skiff to a monster synth.

When 3DVCA works as a crossfader or panner, the X and Y parameters follow an equal-power curve that keep output signals at the same volume no matter how many inputs are mixed together. This is in contrast to the Z parameter which follows a linear curve to always behave predictably with external modulation sources. All inputs are fully DC coupled in order to work with modulation speed signals as well as static DC voltage sequences; this means that 3DVCA can handle any sort of signal that you throw at it. All op amps in the device employ rail-to-rail inputs and outputs to enable the largest headroom when mixing many different signals together.

Notes: Module A-135-5 is a combination of a voltage controlled polyphonic mixer and a polyphonic suboctave generator.

Module A-135-5 is a combination of a voltage controlled polyphonic mixer and a polyphonic suboctave generator. It is made of 12 voltage-controlled amplifiers (VCAs) which are arranged in form of a 4x3 matrix. Herewith up to three four-voice polyphonic signals (e.g. the outputs of three polyphonic VCOs A-111-4) can be mixed. The level of each of the three polyphonic channels (A, B, C) with four voices each can be controlled manually or by means of an external control voltage with associated attenuators.

In addition, the module features four frequency dividers which derive the suboctaves from the four input signals of channel A. The suboctave signals are wired to the switching contacts of the sockets of channel B. As long as the sockets of channel B are not patched the suboctave signals of channel A are used as inputs for channel B. The suboctaves are symmetrical rectangle waves with half the frequency of the corresponding signal A. For example, two polyphonic VCOs A-111-4) can be used and patched to the channels A and C. Channel B then provides the suboctaves of channel A.

The switching contacts of the 12 input sockets and the four outputs are internally connected to pin headers. That way the module can be internally pre-patched to other polyphonic modules (e.g. the four inputs A to an A-111-4, the four inputs C to another A-111-4 and the outputs to the polyphonic filter A-105-4). As the switching contacts of the sockets are used for the internal pre-patching the internal patch can be overridden by using the sockets at the front panel.

Technical notes:

If required two or more modules can be cascaded when more than three polyphonic channels are required.

The max. overall amplification is less than 1 to avoid clipping (can be altered to amplification 1 by replacing resistors, but then clipping may occur)

The max. input levels without distortion are about 16Vpp (or -8V ... +8V for the processing of control signals)

The voltage range for each of the CV inputs is about 0...+5V (with corresponding attenuator control fully CW), higher control voltages (e.g. 0...+10V) can be adjusted by means of the attenuator control

The suboctave levels are about 5Vpp

The module should be used only with DC coupled VCO outputs (e.g. A-111-4, A-111-3). With AC coupled VCO outputs (e.g. A-110-1, A-110-2) a DC offset will occur at the outputs when the suboctave option is installed.
