Notes: The ADE-50 provides 3 all-analogue voltage controlled amplifiers based on a modern operational transconductance amplifier design.

The VCA's are designed to provide a good balance between the performance and specification of modern 'on-chip' VCA's and the character and musicality of classic analogue designs.

The OTA core of each VCA is fully discrete - it is built from only resistors, capacitors and transistors - however, the CV conditioning, audio input and output stages are built using high-quality op-amps giving the best balance between musicality, character and performance.

The ADE-50 provides a good signal-to-noise ratio, linearity, attenuation, an output level at unity gain at 5V CV input, minimal CV 'bleed' and minimal output offset/bias.

Dual LFO with waveshaping, sync input & DC-coupled VCA - dark edition
Notes: This has two LFOs, each with variable waveshape from Saw to Triangle to Ramp waveforms, or variable Pulse width on the Square wave output. LFO 1 has the addition of a low range and a Sync input. The nominal maximum frequency of the LFOs when in Triangle shape is 20Hz, but under certain combinations of settings they will go much higher, well into audio range.

Also included is a DC coupled VCA, the input of the VCA is normalised to the output of LFO 2, so a 0 to +5V input to the VCA CV input gives control of the LFO waveform amplitude. It can also be used as a stand alone VCA.

This module is very useful for controllers such as the Waldorf KB37 where the modulation wheel gives out 0 to +5V, this can be routed to the VCA CV module so the level of the modulation waveform can be easily controlled. This makes it very easy to add VCO vibrato or filter 'wah' with control of modulation amount from the modulation wheel or other controller.

MiniMod Glide + Noise, combining two Minimoog circuits in one module - 6HP
Notes: The original MiniMod Glide +Noise module was based exactly on the original Minimoog Model D circuitry, which was designed to be used with the built in Model D keyboard, and because of its vintage design its range was severely limited to 5 or 6 octaves, and it also responded to positive voltages only. Another limitation was that it would not return fully to zero when selecting long glide times, which restricted the range even more.

So we made the decision to re-design the MiniMod Glide + Noise using modern precision parts, and we have come up with an all new circuit which has exactly the same function, but with a hugely extended range. It has the same Glide slope characteristic (a slightly curved Linear Glide) as the Model D on which the MiniMod is based, however in response to many requests from customers we have adjusted the glide up and down speeds so that they are now very similar , which is much more useful in real world applications that the earlier MK1 version which (like the Model D) would glide up considerably faster than it would glide down.

The new Mk2 MiniMod Glide Noise module now has an impressive 14 octave range, and can respond to negative voltages down to -5V. This is a very useful feature, as our MiniMod VCO's will respond to negative control voltages and produce correspondingly low frequencies; so it is now possible to glide down quickly or slowly to crazy sub bass levels! The hold feature has been improved too, it covers the full audio range as well as DC control voltages, and works as a track and hold module with Eurorack signal levels.

A further enhancement is that the Mk2 module can now (using selectable jumpers) transmit or receive pitch CV to the Eurorack power bus; for example, the Glide CV Output can now be directed to the Bus in order to send CV's to (for example) three VCO's via the bus without the need for a passive multi and four patch cords!

The Noise section of the module is unchanged, except that we have slightly boosted the level of the Red Noise output to bring it more in line with Eurorack control voltage levels.

Lastly, it is much shallower - Mk1 Glide Noise had a depth of 54mm, and it was the only MiniMod module that was too deep to fit a skiff style case - and this prevented a full MiniMod system being installed into a shallow Eurorack case. The new MK2 version is only 28mm deep, so this allows both it and a full MiniMod system to be mounted into shallow skiff style Eurorack cases.

Wave twister/distortion module - black, 10HP
Notes: The V-Shape is two modules in one, a wave twister and a distortion/wavefolding module. Both sections of the module are all analogue in design, and both can be used independently, or they can be normalised together in series, so that a waveform can be twisted first and then distorted and wavefolded.

The wave twister can take (for example) a saw tooth waveform as an input and shape it, under manual or external voltage control, through to being a triangle waveform and on to being a ramp waveform, and produces a sound similar to PWM for sawtooths. It will also work with symmetrical waveforms such as triangle and sine waves, again producing PWM like tones.

It can produce a wave twisting effect from most waveforms (with the exception of square waves), whether they are symmetrical or asymmetric. Under many conditions the transfer function is not perfect, so different harmonics may be generated too. The offset control allows a bias to be added to the incoming waveform, either to bias it correctly around zero or offset it for more distortion and harmonics.

The second part of the V-Shape module is a distortion unit, with selectable Soft or Hard Clipping, and the clipping amount can be varied either by a front panel control or an external control voltage with the "Distort" control. The distortion offset control adds or subtracts a bias voltage to the CV signal, to give an extended range of control. There is also a single stage, switchable wavefolder, which can be used with either soft or hard clipped waveforms.

Fuzz module featuring three voltage-controllable parameters - 12HP
Notes: The Baron Samedi circuit produces all sorts of extreme fuzz sounds with a fundamentally gated nature. It's easy to think of the pedal as a supernatural harmonic generator of sorts - with a fuzz sound that goes from tame to obnoxious and a row of three extremely interactive knobs, it's easy to dial in a wide range of broken speaker, AM radio, sub-oscillating and scooped mid sounds - and everything in between.

The heart of this module is the same as that of the pedal, so you can nail all the sounds the pedal has to offer. The attenuverter-equipped CV inputs are designed to drag your yet-pristine synth signals into a chaotic, loud and vulgar afterlife.

With modifications that allow it to be used with modular level signals, the Baron Samedi module can act like a waveshaper or a saturator - but add CV and all bets are off. The LIFE CV deepens or flattens the notch of the tone control, the DEATH CV adds PWM-like textural manipulation, going from very quiet to very loud in the process, and the BURIAL CV acts as a gate of sorts. Some extremely unique, somewhat ring modulation-like sounds can be had when feeding audio-range signals into the DEATH and BURIAL CV inputs. It goes without saying that there is a lot of merit in running CV into all three inputs simultaneously for maximum sonic mayhem.

The module would not be complete without a dry/wet blend knob, useful both as a performance tool and to fine tune the amount of textural distortion desired.

Overdrive/distortion module
Notes: Full-blooded distortion - Pit Viper is a solid state overdrive for hard-boiled musicians. The circuit can generate clean, beefy signal boosts. However, its true strengths lie in aggressively screaming distortions with a tangible character.

Pit Viper comes equipped with the following control elements:

- Toxicity: Gain potentiometer - Please turn up for heavy distortion.
- Hiss: Tone knob - Turn clockwise to cut the treble.
- Venom: Volume potentiometer
- Fear: Three-stage soft clipping switch - Activates normal soft clipping or a more tube-like version with less treble.
- Malice: Three-stage hard clipping switch - Activates beefy hard clipping or a spongier version with less treble.
- Blend: Dry / Wet potentiometer
- Bite: CV input plus attenuator to cut the high frequency range. Without a cable plugged in, the knob can be used for adjusting the treble manually.
- Saturation: CV input plus attenuator and on/off switch to influence gain and saturation.
- Filter: CV input plus attenuator and on/off switch to control the Viper's VCF circuit.

Via a jumper on the circuit board, users can choose between several filter types:

- Passive clipped low pass
- Unbuffered high pass
- Buffered high pass
- Buffered low pass

Furthermore, there is a trim potentiometer on the circuit board, which can be used to adjust the gain.

Notes: The Crossfold is a new concept wavefolder: A high quality, compact, 8-stage, dual voltage-controlled crossfader, analog wavefolder/waveshaper from Antimatter Audio capable of producing subtle to extreme distortion, folding, and experimental synthesis.

Voltage controlled balance of two audio sources before processing through the high fidelity 8 stage wavefolder creates "crossfolds", unexpected and complex interactions of sound that can resemble through-zero FM synthesis, bizarre distortion, and even more mysterious results.

As lovers of wave shapers, we refined the Crossfold to produce timbres and patches that we were always seeking, patches that were either not possible, or required many more modules to accomplish before the Crossfold.

The Crossfold utilizes high quality op amps, multiple high quality VCA chips, and a small army of resistors and diodes to create a unique, hi fidelity wavefolder capable of producing sounds yet unheard of!

The fold and range controls with voltage control provide the main intensity level, with the range control setting the scope of the fold control, traveling from single folds, up to eight, further into clipping, which compresses and offsets the folds both into the positive and negative range. A built-in output limiter allows you to explore clipping effects without large volume spikes, while still allowing for a musical dynamic range.

The output stage has 3 modes selectable by a switch on the front panel: a voltage-controlled dry/wet of the input crossfader (great for balancing fundamental tones Vs added harmonics), wet vs. input 1 (great for mixing signals for the wet signal while maintaining a single dry signal), or as a final VCA to complete a voice or provide amplitude modulation of the output.

The Crossfold is capable of combining sources to produce low punchy basses, glassy marimbas, screaming synced leads, morphing alien drones, and much more. It even sounds amazing on bass guitar, thanks to its smooth distortion capabilities!

Compact performance switch controller for generating triggers and gates - 6HP wide
Notes: Compact performance switch controller for generating triggers and gates. Used manually it provides you with triggers, momentary gates or latched/toggle gates, selectable per each of the five channels.In a sequential context it is a pattern generator with five channels which generates 32 step long sequences which are tapped with your fingers. Patterns can be saved, recalled and chained.

Launch Codes has two primary modes:
The Control Mode is a manual mode where you use the buttons to generate gates and triggers. Gates can be temporary or toggling.
The Sequencer Mode turns the module into a clocked 32-step sequencer with five tracks, reset, performance mutes, a special CV mode and the possiblity to chain patterns.
Sequences are entered by playing the buttons; both gates and trigger can be generated. Triggers are played immediately but recorded in a quantized fashion.

Options, selectable with the Opt button:
- MODE: control mode, sequencer mode with reset or special CV sequencer mode
- LENGTH: pattern length, per pattern; either 8, 16 or 32 steps. When prolonging the sequence length Launch Codes automatically fills the pattern by doubling the data.
- GENERATE: creates variations of the loaded pattern when pressing the button. A copy of the original pattern is loaded into the undo memory so you can recall it anytime.
- LOAD: press ths button for one second to load all saved settings and sequencers. This overwrites all temporary settings.
- SAVE: press this button for a second to save all sequences, mute states, pattern chains and settings.

- CV sequencer: the reset socket now acts as a CV input which modifies the behavoiur of the sequencer:
- CV Step Generate: At 0V the sequencer plays as usual but the higher the CV gets 8max. 5V), the higher the chance of random step generation.
- CV Scrub: The CV can address steps within the sequence, even in addition to the running clock.
- CV Freeze Loop: A CV above 5V freezes the sequence and starts looping it from this point on.

Special settings: manual reset, deactivating the automatic pattern data doubling, selection of the standard CV sequencer mode (CV Step Generate, CV Scrub or CV Freeze Loop).

II. the WAVE FOLDER is a novel take on the serge style wavefolding circuit which has specific behaviour to abuse the high gain of the input amplification stage to provide rich high frequency timbres with higher settings of the SHAPE parameter. It has a configuration switch which can either activate clean 4 stage wavefolding in the OK position or highly asymmetric folding stage in the KO position that provides strange metallic character. The NO position provides only the very last overdrive-folding stage.

Each filter has available a separate FM input as well as an Audio Input and Output. The FM input is typically connected to the output of the associated envelope generator (e.g. A-141-4).
The envelope amount for all four filters is controlled by the FM knob and the CVFM input by means of four built-in VCAs, which are controlled by the FM control and CVFM input. This allows also voltage control of the envelope amounts.

In addition common frequency modulation for all filters is possible (e.g. by an LFO). For this the CVF input with attenuator can be used. The range of the audio input level control (L) allows also clipping/distortion with typical A-100 audio levels
(e.g. from A-111-4) at the filter inputs. Even this parameter is voltage controllable as well as the resonance (Q).
Application: polyphonic patches (four VCFs with same parameters).

Triple resonance filter unit - 28HP
Notes: Module A-127 is a triple resonance filter unit. It contains three separate voltage-controlled band pass filters. Each filter has its own LFO (triangle waveform) with LED display and adjustable frequency and amplitude. Instead of the internal LFO an external control voltage may be used to control the filter frequency. In this case the external voltage is fed into the external CV jack (with integrated switch to turn off the LFO signal) and the amplitude control of the LFO affects the level of the external CV signal. Each filter is equipped with the following controls: LFO frequency, LFO/external CV amplitude, filter frequency, filter resonance and filter amplitude. In addition to the mix output for all three filters each filter has a separate audio output. The original audio signal can be added to the triple filter mix signal with a separate control. All 3 filters share a common audio input with attenuator. The filter audio inputs are very sensitive so that distortion may intentionally be used to create new sounds - if desired.

The frequency control range of the bandpass filters is about 40Hz...6kHz, the frequency range of the LFO's is about 0.02Hz...20Hz (= 1 min ... 1/20 sec per cycle).

Each of the three filters can used also as a 12dB low pass (with resonance control) instead of band pass. For this a jumper has to be changed on the filter board in question. In this case the module can be called no longer "resonance filter" but "triple low pass filter". It is also possible to modify only one or two of the filters to low pass.

Notes: A-190-4 is the replacement for module A-190-1 which is no longer available. The functions of A-190-1 and A-190-4 are nearly the same (Midi In, Midi Out, CV1, CV2, Gate, Clock, Reset). But the operation of the A-190-4 has been improved because a 3-digit LED display is available. The current values of all parameters (like Midi channel, reference note, clock divider) can be read back and modified by means of up/down buttons. In addition, A-190-4 is equipped with an USB interface and the external +5V supply is no longer available. Consequently, the additional charges for the 5V adapter fall away.

Important notes:

- The Scale (SCA) and Tune (TUn) parameters remain unchanged when the module is initialized! Otherwise the initialization would overwrite the adjusted values. Because of the tolerances of electrical parts there are no fixed values for SCA and TUn which are valid for all modules. The values for SCA and TUn differ a bit from module to module because of the tolerances of electrical parts. In case that the module has been adjusted totally wrong: typical values are 100 for SCA (coarse) and 55 for TUn (coarse).

- The module comes with installed bus jumpers for CV and Gate. One has to remove the jumpers if e.g. an A-164, A-190-1, A-190-2, A-190-3, A-185-1 or A-185-2 is already connected to the CV and/or gate lines of the same bus board! If the A-190-3 should be used as CV and gate source for the A-100 bus the CV and gate connections of other CV/gate sources to the A-100 bus have to be removed. Otherwise short circuits are made between the outputs of the CV or gate transmitters!

- The gate level of the A-190-3 can be changed from +5V to +12V. For this the jumper on JP10A (behind the CV Note socket, labelled "GATE 5V JP10A") has to be removed and installed to JP10B (behind the 16 pin bus connector, labelled "GATE 12V JP10B").

- The module is a USB device or slave in USB mode. It has no USB host function (like computers or laptops with type A USB connectors).

Notes: With the Memory Joystick, you can control your modular system like an old video game console. Movements of the stick are recordable. Eight positions can be stored and recalled via buttons. Alternatively, it is possible to jump from one to the next value. The feel is then similar to a step sequencer. You can even vary the playback behaviour.

The Memory Joystick will always start in MANUAL MODE:

Moving the joystick generates CV at the X and Y outputs. Pressing HOLD will freeze the current position. You can then play these eight memory slots manually with the respective eight buttons, or sequentially with a CV at CV-MEM or with triggers at the TRIGGER input. While being clocked you can choose nine playback PATTERNS by the position of the joystick. So this module is also a joystick-playable eight-step sequencer!

The memory in MEMORY MODE is non-volatile, meaning you can power off your module and return to the exact setting.

Another nice feature of the Memory Joystick: The orientation can be varied by 180 degrees! This way, you can decide whether you want the buttons and jacks on the top or bottom of the module. When using the module upside-down, there is a nice little trick: Push a little switch on the back of the module to invert the X & Y outputs and also shift the starting position of the sequencer by four steps.

Frequency Central proudly announce the release of the 'System X Filter'. It's a clone of the Roland System 100M VCF, and uses 2 x LM13700. There's an additional 12dB/oct output which is 180 degrees out of phase with the 24dB/oct output. Mixing the two outputs will give bandpass.

Digital sync-able LFO with frequency multiplication & division
Notes: Wave Runner is a multi-waveform sync-able LFO based on the Electric Druid TAPLFO2D family of code, but with some significant additions and improvements. The WAVERUNNER 1 PIC and code is exclusive to Frequency Central and was developed specifically for the Wave Runner.

ARP 4023 VCF clone
Notes: Frequency Central's Whiteface is a new voltage controlled analogue filter for Eurorack based on the ARP 4023 filter, found in the "whiteface" Odyssey MK1 Synthesiser.

Besides the classic cut-off & resonance controls, it comes with two audio inputs as well as two CV inputs.

The rare parts have been engineered out (and the need for matched transistors for the CV input section) by using a Roland style circuit there instead - no change to the vibe though! The audio path remains pure ARP, with one exception. Built stock from the schematic, the resonance would clip above 3 o'clock, in a way which is neither musical or desirable. An inverting buffer has now been used, which adds a bit of gain to bring it up to modular levels. A nice side effect of the inverting buffer is that if you mix the input signal with the filter output, and find the sweet spot, you can do high-pass filtering too!

Filter module with high & low pass filter in Eurorack format - 16HP
Notes: The FIL3 from Future Sound Systems is a revised form of the sought-after FIL2 Spectral Devastator - a high-pass and low-pass filter coupling, both with unmistakeable character. Originally designed between 2011 and 2012, the Spectral Devastator was designed by Finlay Shakespeare whilst attempting to find new methods of voltage control over filter circuits, working from first principles. Whilst the FIL2 always imparted its brutality on to input signals, the FIL3 gives more control over the behaviour of both filter sections.

The first new addition is the Colour control, added by attempting to give external control over each filter's Resonance. Whilst the oscillation of each filter is now controllable by the Colour parameters, further non-linearity can be added as well, broadening the palette of tones available from each filter.

Secondly, each filter features a Blast switch. Whilst this control attempts to add linearisation to the filter core, it also allows for the Resonance to become even more pronounced. As with the Colour parameters, the Blast switches extend the tonal spectrum of the two filters giving further flexibility. Input Drive and output Level controls have also been added to each filter. This gives the user more control over signal level, which can become wildly unpredictable when using the filters. With increasing Drive, the input signal will defeat the filter core as the filters become saturated. The Normalling switches from the FIL2 are still present, allowing for quick and easy patching between the high-pass and low-pass filters, for use in series or in parallel.

The Cutoff CV Depth of each filter is also now present on an attenuverter, allowing for increased modulation potential. The manual Cutoff controls have also been improved, giving the FIL3 better control ranges than its predecessor, whilst retaining all of its brute force.

Eurorack module based around The Gristleizer
Notes: The Gristleizer Generator has been designed to replicate the original functionality of the Gristleizer's oscillator section, but with many new additions. With a brand new design from Roy Gwinn, the TG2 Generator is far more stable than its predecessor, featuring 1V/Oct tracking amongst other features. However, as with its original, the TG2 spans from low frequency ranges into the audible range, and makes for a killer bass oscillator as well as a fully featured LFO.

The core of the oscillator is based around a shape-variable ramp generator, with similar functionality to that found in the Korg MS Modulation Generators. Here, the Shape control takes the Ramp output from a descending sawtooth, through triangle, to an ascending sawtooth shape. This varying ramp waveform is then input to a wave-folder, which outputs both Fold and Pulse waveforms, based on how the Gain and Offset controls are set. Lastly, the original ramp waveform is fed into a comparator for the Clock output, the pulsewidth of which is variable using the Shape control.

The Gain and Offset of the TG2's wave-folder are both voltage controllable, as well as its Frequency via an attenuated control input and a 1V/Oct control input. The TG2 can also be reset by external sources via the Sync input.

Eurorack module based around The Gristleizer
Notes: The Gristleizer Filter presents one of the key components of the Gristleizer in a Eurorack module - its JFET-controlled multi-feedback band-pass filter. Its characteristics are not unlike a wah-wah pedal, whilst also being able to create other vocal tonalities, especially with several summed in parallel. Whilst originally controlled by the Gristleizer's oscillator, the TG3 can be controlled by any control source available in a Eurorack system.

As well as a couple of Frequency control inputs, the TG3 also adds Register and Resonance controls to the original filter circuit. The Register control shifts the resonant frequency of the filter core itself, whereas the Frequency control affects the gating of the filter's JFET. The Resonance control allows the circuit to self-oscillate easily, allowing for the TG3 to be used as a sound source as well as a filter. The TG3 also incorporates a Drive parameter (with final clipping circuitry added for taming the filter core) as well as an output Level control.

Notes: The Gristleizer Modulator presents another key component of the Gristleizer in a Eurorack module - its JFET-controlled voltage-controlled amplifier. Whilst originally controlled by the Gristleizer's oscillator to achieve tremolo (or amplitude modulation) effects, the TG4 can be controlled by any control source available in a Eurorack system and, therefore, be used as a conventional VCA with some added features.

The Bias control sets the initial control point of the amplitude modulation, whilst a control voltage attenu-verter for CV2 allows for full control over how the amplitude is modulated. On top of this, the TG4 features a Dirt control, which allows the user to alter the behaviour of the JFET stage. At zero Dirt, the Modulator offers a super-clean VCA, whilst at maximum Dirt, waveforms become drastically mutated, at times beyond recognition. With the Dirt setting at 12 o'clock, the Modulator behaves exactly like the original VCA circuit of the Guitar Effects Pedal design. Also note that the JFET tends to exhibit second-harmonic distortion, similar to that of vacuum-tube amplifiers. Therefore, the TG4 presents not just a VCA, but also a module for adding distortion and character to audio signals.

Voice allocator, note hocketing & analog shift register module - 6HP
Notes: The Shifty is essentially a combination of four sample and hold stages, a sequential gate and sequencer controller. This collection of functions allows for some specific and useful utility application.

One of the primary uses for Shifty is to take a monophonic sequence source and route each new note of the sequence to up to four different synthesizer voices in a specific pattern. In this way you can create pseudo polyphonic sequences since each voice can be triggered to play and sustain while the next voice int the sequence gets triggered. Another term for this is hocketing.

The other main application of the Shifty is to function as an Analog Shift Register. In this mode each new gate input received causes the current set of pitches to be shifted to new output locations as a new one is added and the oldest one is replaced. This can be an interesting way to create chords that are up to four stacked notes when used with a pitch sequence source that has a harmonious series of notes (e.g. a pentatonic scale works really well). Even just using two of the outputs will yield very interesting melodic interplay and is an excellent way to make a simple sequence much more complex and interesting.

In a more basic way the Shifty could be used as a simple Sample/Track and Hold module or as a sequential gate.

Notes: The Quad Gate Delay is a 4 channel tempo-synced rhythm generator and logic delay. There are 3 switchable time modes: milliseconds, tempo synced (unquantized), and tempo synced (quantized) with additional manual control over each mode as well as CV inputs over channels 1 & 2 (3 & 4 are fixed). The first mode allows for up to 1 second of delay per channel. Tempo synced (unquantized) allows for up to a bar of delay based on the incoming clock. Tempo synced (quantized) mode allows for up to a bar of delay quantized to 1/16 divisions. There are 3 normalling modes. In the first mode all inputs only trigger their own channels. In the second mode the first input will trigger all channels at the same time which allows for multiple taps off a single trigger. The third mode sends the delay output from the current channel into the next channel's input. The mix output combines all 4 channels and sends a short pulse any time one of the outputs goes high.
