It doesn't stop there: for the fanatics, there's an exclusive third disc, Kid Amnesiae, which contains formerly unheard material both recording sessions, as well as Kid Amnesiette, a cassette of B-sides. This ultra-deluxe edition is, decidedly, one for the ultra-fans. Besides the radical electronic fever dreams making up both projects, this version contains the never-before-heard song 'If You Say The Word' on the bonus CD. Remastered on vinyl and cut at half the speed of the original LP, it's an audiophile's banquet. Notes: Module A-124 is a special 12dB multimode filter using the "strange" filter circuit of the "EDP Wasp" (an analog synthesizer with black/yellow case built end of the seventies, manufactured by the UK company "Electronic Dream Plant" with Chris Huggett und Adrian Wagner). This design "abuses" digital inverters as analog operational amplifiers leading to distortions and other "dirty" effects that generate the specific sound of this filter. The filter is equipped with a band pass output and a combined low/notch/high pass output. For this output a control knob defines the relation between low and high pass signal. If both signals appear at the same level (i.e. middle position of the Mix knob) one obtains a notch filter. Otherwise the low or high pass signal predominates. The module does not feature self-oscillation in contrast to most of the other filters of the A-100 system.

Review: Some of Masters at Work man Louie Vega's greatest full-length projects have paid tribute to New York's 50-year dance music story, as well as his personal musical inspirations (most notably the Nuyorican Soul album he penned with long-time production partner Kenny 'Dope' Gonzalez in the 1990s). Expansions in the NYC, his latest epic excursion, treads a similar path, offering a large number vocal-heavy numbers that not only blend elements of disco, boogie, proto-house and house, but also feature some genuinely high-profile vocalists from that era (think Peech Boys' Bernard Fowler, Unlimited Touch). Vega also joins forces with 21st century house star Honey Dijon on the superb 'Feels So Right', while the hook-ups with Moodymann, Kerri Chandler and Joe Clausell are as inspired as you'd expect.

Notes: The Goldring philosophy is to promote the accurate reproduction of the original recording, maintaining the creative nuances, musicality and rhythm the artist intended you to hear. The E Series is designed to capture this experience when used with all medium to high mass tonearms found on the majority of budget to medium priced turntables. This is achieved through the use of Magnetic Duplex Technology and Goldring Expert Adjustment.

The E3 cartridge, the highest in the range features the same aluminium cantilever as the E2, but benefits from a superior bonded, super-elliptical (0.3 x 0.7 mil) stylus. This gives it superior high frequency groove detail retrieval ability over ordinary elliptical (0.4 x 0.7 mil) or spherical (0.6 mil) styli due to its smaller front to back radius. Its main effect is the reduction of sibilance, especially in high level vocal recordings.

Magnetic Duplex Technology:

All cartridges in the range feature Magnetic Duplex Technology - a 'dual magnet' generator assembly which more accurately traces the record groove providing better stereo separation and a more involving and musical sound stage.

Expert Adjustment:

The E-series cartridges have been designed to allow micro-adjustments to be made during production using a special adjustment screw. This means the cartridge can be safely installed in a typical turntable because the angle that the stylus makes with the record surface has been pre-set. The result is an optimised channel balance with zero degrees of horizontal tracking adjustment required. This ensures a consistent and reassuring performance for the life of the product.

Stylus/Cantilever:

Featuring spherical styli with a choice of cantilevers, the E1 and E2 models are ideal as an upgrade to any budget, pre-fitted or obsolete cartridge.

Review: It's the album that redefined ambient music, not least for a generation of parasympathetic ravers. Aphex Twin's Selected Ambient Works Volume II marked a stylistic shift away from the first edition in the infamous ambient LP 'series', Selected Ambient Works 85-92. Volume II differed substantially; this time, there would be no 'techno' addendum to 'ambient', and all tracks thereupon would lack the usual indulgence of beats, however easy-on-the-ears these had been beforehand. Known for its many numbered tracks - which on the original edition, rather than track names, denoted references to images of natural forms, textures and geologic readymades, all bathed in orange, and from which fans had to infer the written names - this expanded edition stays faithful to this origin. Even so, it adds two unreleased D Jamesian treats - provided you don't count the massive Soundcloud dump of 2015 as a release - 'th1 [evnslower]' and a reversed version of 'Rhubarb' - as well as a the previously vinyl only '#19'.

Review: Alex "Omar" Smith has never been one for modesty, so we shouldn't be too surprised that he's called his latest full-length - his fifth in total - The Best. To be fair, he is rather good at producing high-grade deep house, and here unveils another eleven gems. Interestingly, he's recruited an impressive cast-list of collaborators and guests, including Norman Talley, Kyle Hall, OB Ignitt and, most surprisingly of all, Bristol-based Tom Bug. Highlights are plentiful, from the dusty afro and blues influences of the tribal "Chama Piru's", and hazy, Rhodes-heavy vocal cut "AhRevolution", to the hip-wigglin' disco-house influences of "Seen Was Set", and retro-futurist, Inner City style Divinity hook-up "On Your Way".

Review: When she started her career just over a decade ago, Cleopatra Nikolic AKA Cleo Sol was considered a singer-for-hire within the international deep house community. Now, with the assistance of beat-maker Inflo, she's decided to strike out on her own via a quietly impressive solo debut that re-casts her as a genuinely fresh and exciting soul talent. Beginning with the layered acapella vocals and deep, jazzy grooves of stunning opener "One Love", the album sees her brilliantly deliver heartfelt and thoughtful lyrics over hazy backing tracks that brilliantly join the dots between jazz, neo-soul and R&B. While she's undoubtedly the star of the show, Inflo's stripped-back, partially acoustic and largely soft-focus production is also worthy of high praise.

Review: There's a growing feeling both inside and outside jazz that Kamasi Washington could well turn out to be one of the style's all-time greats. He's certainly making all the right moves, delivering thought-provoking concept albums of eyebrow-raising length that simply refuse to settle on one sound, rhythm, style or sub-genre. Heaven & Earth, his first album for almost three years, continues this trend, comprising angry instrumental answers to America's growing issues with class division and racism, Rotary Connection style workouts, Sun Ra-esque spiritual workouts, funk and soul-influenced burners, spiraling choral and orchestral affairs, and electric fusions of rubbery synth-funk and mind-altering jazz-blues. Typically, the results are never less than sublime, with Washington's virtuoso saxophone playing taking centre stage throughout.

Review: In the field of spiritual jazz, there are few albums as seminal as Pharoah. Originally released in 1977 and serving as a landmark for the genre as well as Pharoah Sanders himself, it remains a towering work of understated beauty, using negative space and patient pauses as potent as the notes played. Sanders sadly passed on to the next realm in 2022 amidst a wave of renewed appreciation for his work, and Luaka Bop have taken on the task of reissuing this otherworldly classic in fine style. As well as the original album, a second record features two previously unreleased live versions of 'Harvest Time', and the package comes with a 24-page booklet featuring a wealth of additional material to round out the experience of one of the all-time greatest jazz albums.

MIDI Control Center

Use the Midi Control Center to customize your MiniLAB. You can change the Velocity curves (keyboard and pads), the Knobs acceleration, the Pedal input type and polarity, the Message types with their Min and Max values, the MIDI Channels, and much more. Shape the MiniLAB exactly the way you need it to be.

Switch MIDI Channel - Shift + a key with a number above it will change the MIDI Channel.

Hold a note - When engaged, every note played will be held. Playing new notes will replace the previously held notes.

Chord mode- Shift + Hold will activate "Chord mode". Then, just play one note and it will play the full chord with the pressed note as the root note. You can record a custom chord by keeping Shift + Hold pressed while entering up to 16 notes.

Transposition - Transpose the whole keyboard by octaves or semitones by pressing Oct or Shift + Oct.

Transport Control - While pressing Shift, you can use the corresponding pads to Play, Stop, Record, Loop, and tap the tempo.

Arpeggiator mode - Shift + Pad#1 engages/disengages the Arp. Long press Shift + Pad#1 to enter the Arp settings. Then use the 8 knobs or the main encoder to set the Arp as you please.

Hold + Chord + Arp - Can be activated at the same time, allowing you to keep the Arp running while tweaking the parameters of a preset.

Pad banks - Shift + Pad#2 toggles between Bank A and B).

Programs - Shift + Pad#3 cycle through the programs. Arturia and DAW programs will automatically connect to any Arturia Software or DAW if there is one open on the computer. You can create and add some User Programs to customize the MIDI CCs, notes, pad colours etc.

Arturia Program - use the main encoder to browse through presets. Press the Main encoder to select a Preset. Long Press the main encoder to like/unlike the Preset. Shift + Main encoder will browse through Types. Select one, and then browse through the filtered presets.

Review: Those who've been paying close attention will know that Alex 'Omar' Smith has been mixing things up musically of late, veering away from the deep Detroit house he's famed for in order to explore a wider range of influences. New album "You Want" doesn't exactly reverse this trend, but it is far more rooted in his particular brand of seductive, off-kilter deepness and techno-tinged hypnotism than recent singles. That's undeniably a good thing, because nobody does crunchy, machine driven club jams better than the Motor City producer. There are nods towards Italian style piano house, disco, broken beat, jazz funk, Masters at Work and - more surprisingly - industrial techno (see the filthy closing cut) - but the resultant cuts don't sound like anything other than tried-and-tested Omar-S club jams.

Notes: Any vibrations in the record during playback will be picked by the cartridge and will be reproduced by the amplifier and speakers causing muddy sound, distortion and reduced detail. In order to avoid record vibrations you must make sure that the contact between the record and the platter is as perfecrt as possible.The tonar record clamp presses the record flat against the platter. Put the record on the turntable and then put the clamp on the spindle, press down & turn the knob to tighten. The weight of the clamp is minimal so it can be used on any record player with a fixed spindle.

Also many older manufactured records are warped to varying degrees, this causes big problems for the diamond stylus of the cartridge to track the grooves properly. The stylus pressure fluctuates as the stylus moves up and down while trying to track the warps. With bad results: muddy sound reproduction with distortions and if the turntables drive isn't really strong... audible flutter. In some cases the stylus may actually loose contact with the groove causing a hissing sound. Using the Tonarclampit will press the record onto the turntable platter, and the problematic surface will be flattened while you play the record causing a dramatic improvement of the reproduced sound on old records.

Take care that the platter bearing of your turntable is able to accept the additional weight of 760 g. If in any doubt please consult your record player instructions or your dealer before buying or using this weight.
