Review: Aussie label Foul Play Records snip the red tape with a logographic roll of the dice, and an initiatory two-tracker by resident producer Solar Suite. Described rightly as two techy peak-time cuts, 'Plumb' and its sibling tune 'Second Wind' are alleged to have been made following a near religious experience experienced at Amsterdam club DOKA in 2021. The holy frenzy that follows is indeed a kind of percussive enthusiasmos, centring on deep, resonant sampled shouts and slippery sound design between fidgeting drums. 'Plumb' moves only ever so slightly more harmonic, its underlying chords and "ah" stutters functioning as audial anchors.

Review: London's Lirica Archives hear two acid/electro heads go head-to-head on a new EP themed after a nominal, demented festival. Andy Somoza and Aka Juanjo are two producers from Bolivia and therein lies the four-track rub: a slickly unsettling analog house record flecked with South American flavour and fervour. With two sides shared equally between artists, Somoza handles peaktime with rubbery basses and single-hit vocal ones, while Juanjo burrows deeper into the groove, with growling basses and swarthily shadowed vocal samples arranged longitudinally across 'The Unknown' and 'Constante'.

Review: Zombie technology sounds to ooze and overflow with battery acid, as US producer John Spring reissues four future-facing, yet technically millennial-made tracks for Pitched Peach. Produced in the early 2000s by the minimal master-don, real name Johannes Mai, 'FMMF' and its three follow-up tracks prove the durability of an 80s industrial and EBM sound, and that it cannot go extinct: especially when mixed impressively with the tempo and sensibility of tricky minimal techno. 'Traum.a' adds to this with globs of kick, power-up riser and bass stab, exegeting a forward marches reminiscent of platform gaming. Falcko Brockseiper's remix is the only melodic cut, highlighting Spring's advantage taken over an intriguing homophonic happenstance: "traum, oder trauma?"

Review: Enshrining its 20th release with a reverent new one from STBR, 'Atelir' on Daydream murks our expectations, bringing a thrilling lowercase slosher to classic black wax. 'Lloyd' and 'Homer' hear two named characters hog the studio, as STBR seizes many an interstitial productive moment in which to vary and excite the mix, though not *too* much. 'Session', meanwhile, brings a parallactic view of the prior two moods, acids squelching and spurting between relatively driven beats, while a closing paroxysm, 'Tourtour', insists we climb back down from our cloud.

Review: Bristol's vinyl purists Sex Tapes From Mars continues its journey through the underground with the latest EP from Suburbia main man Cam Stockman. This four-track release is a raw and hypnotic dive into vintage analogue synthesis, acid-soaked basslines and sultry vocal hooks. Stockman shows he is unafraid to push into new relays here as he mixes up classic and contemporary sounds. 'Dreams In The RS' is turbo-tech with charming melodies, 'Chicktikka' brings lithe broken beats and cosmic rays and 'Useless' brings some twitchy acid playfulness before 'The Acceptance Speech' is a more whacked out deep house joint sent back from the future.

Review: Lisbon's Hubble Recordings present their sixth release so far, keeping firm to their artist-specific EPs approach following brilliant releases from Kaesar, Costin RP, Miroloja, Octave and Alex Pervukhin. The latest is from tech house hurler Sublee aka Stefan Nicu, whose flight-booking impulse is as strong as ever, here having stopped over from far-flung Romania. After a string of both digital and vinyl stopovers, 'Personal Universal' appears as the pendular follow-up to 2024's Rawax debut 'Simple Two', bringing hugely doubled vocal cantata to a fervent acid build on the title track, while ensuers 'Simple One' and 'Laculesdesample' bring fidgety synth double bass and unorthodox percussions. Review: Swayzak is a micro house, minimal and techno duo, aka James S Taylor and David Brown from the UK, whose name alone will get many older dancers hot under the collar. Their craft was second to none during their peak and here we get a reminder of that with a new outing on Rawax. 'Floyd' is a jazzy dancer with live claps, spinning hi-hats and louche grooves all topped with synthetic synths that never quit. 'Doobie' is a more deep sound with late-night headsy vibes. The drums are supple, the synths squeal and spoken word mutterings add a human touch. Two well-realised and effective cuts from Swayzak.

Review: First released in 1999, Swayzak's 'Floyd/Doobie' shook the British duo's catalogue. Though it wasn't 'Bueno' or 'Fukumachi', this deep house cut was the next best choice for followers of the then burgeoning tech house circuit. Swayzak were already favourites on this and the deep house scene, and had clawed in acclaim for their involvement in both as early as 1993. One particularly prolix bio deems them the incipients of "1st wave 2000-era progressive deep minimal", which is too analytic even for us manic categorisers. No, we prefer to take these two big-hitters as they are: brimming with enthusiasm for a gadget-packed future, 'Floyd' fizzes and twitches with the pulsing blurts of a saw synth, as if to suggest constant magnetic stimulation from above. 'Doobie', meanwhile, hears our protagonist disrobe the techno utility belt, returning to a wireless home, so to gaze out over a subtly detuned chord landscape set to munching percs.

As Tommy Basics he leads into a fresh house sound but still serves it up with plenty of his textbook bass-heavy low ends. 'Latitude' is a bubbly groover with dusty drums and fleshy basslines that get you moving and warmed up. Review: The Belgian underground scene holds plenty of hidden gems and Miracle Wax, owned by Twelve Clouds, is one of them. Though often working behind the scenes, Twelve Clouds' productions have earned him a well-deserved reputation and this release is likely to gain him even more allure. 'Clear Up' is wonky and full flavour tech with nice rubbery bass and 'FF' thin brings a more heady and warming melody-infused sound. The package closes with a remix from the legendary Snad whose expert touch enhances the track, with fresh depth.

Review: Uruguay's Two Phase U have been crafting electro rhythms since the 90s and are early pioneers of their national scene as a result. They have since made their make on the wider underground and once again bring some class here for System Terror. 'Teru' kicks off with lithe rhythms and the sound of seagulls adding an organic edge to the crisp drums. 'Comprando' pairs a poppy, playful sense of melody with glitchy perc and acid stabs for something effective yet fun, then 'Single Phase Flow gets a little more serious with acid stabs and crispy electro before 'Direxion' is a dubby, dynamic electronic sound that is sprinkled with cosmic detail.

Review: Ulysses is the founder of Scatalogics Records and he first dropped this EP there back in 2003. More than two decades on it stands up to modern floors so gets a reissue courtesy of DAMN. 'Stripped Down' combines percussive house drums with free-roaming synth sequences and cosmic radiance into something bright and breezy. 'Immaterial' is a darker sound with gritty electronics and vocoder vocals for a retro-future feel. Both of these are the sort of characterful cuts to switch up the mood and groove in any set.

Review: Premade heavyweight Obscure Shape and classically trained musician Conrad team up; Berg Audio proudly welcome them as a new duo addition to their roster, together under the name Urban CC. Throwing back to real-deal minimal-ambient techno of a steezy kind, something between Maurizio, Move D and Ghost, 'Pegasus' and 'Marly' cycle through fluttering dub techno and 1-2-step garage respectively, the latter bringing an eyebrow raising combo of yearnsome garge vocal science and pulsewidth techno shots, post-drop. 'Hadban' sneaks a cheeky drum & bass bullet train onto an otherwise techno-centric platform, marking Sleepnet-style vocal etherics and sold-on-us liquid. Review: Hidde Van Wee hails from the Netherlands but clearly has a respect for electronic styles from these shores, not least classic UKG and tech house. They are both to be heard in these cuts on HOMEGROWN Records, starting with 'Channel 4' which is a big energy beat with wiggling bass. The space-tech sound '5th Avenue' has already had big club plays from the likes of ROSSI. and Chris Stussy and 'Early Riser' then hooks you in with psychedelic colours and trippy motifs over new school tech drums. Review: The first ever vinyl record to the name of Italian prodcuer Verniss (aka. VerniB) hears the artist expedite three floor-fillers for the Seekers sublabel Twig. Efficiency is the key word here; each track emphasises less productive floweriness and more floor-readiness, though that isn't to say the record lacks subtle embellishment: 'FS Polymonkey' is especially jamboree-ish, its organic, tuned percussions merging, grading with those which are synthetic. The mood of a metallic biotic rave continues well onto the itinerant B-sider 'Travel Smp'.

This one is a split EP that kicks off with Vitess's 'You Got Work,' fizzy, sugary cosmic cut with bouncing drums. 'Play My Game' is another trippy and astral affair with disco energy and wispy synth melodies that hit different. Review: Vyvyan is the solo project of Bonar Bradberry, a perennial underground perfumer with roots in disco and house and plenty of great releases to his name as half of the acclaimed Leeds duo PBR Streetgang. Here, he delivers music for dancefloors when the night turns uncanny by stripping club sounds to their raw essence. Following his 2022 debut album Y, which fused rough percussion with warped melodies, the 'Waterslide EP' pushes on further. The standout title track is minimal and wonky house with synergic synths that burrow deep into your brain and it receives a powerful remix from Gallegos, while 'Kindness' is an amped up rhythm with plump kicks and trippy lines spraying throughout the mix.

Review: wAFF is a part of the big room techno future at this stage. The UK artist has been rolling out effective tracks to lock in large crowds for many years on a range of labels. It is Nature where he finds himself here and once again he sticks to his usual formula - well designed drums that are chunky but warm, with burrowing synths up top and some effects and vocals to bring them alive. 'Leaving You' starts things at a slick pace, 'Underbite' is a little more minimal and loopy and 'Fat Couch' brings a classic r&b sample to the tech beats for even more crowd-pleasing effect.

Review: Wave Particle Singularity takes charge of the first release on Groove On The Carpet and shows off his fine house music credentials. This trip begins with 'Zarbeeya' which is a soulful sound filled with Saharan chords and chants by the artist's best friend's wife, Sabrina, who hails from Algeria. The next track tells the story of the carpet manufacturing process and on the B-side, 'Ghardaia' delves into micro-minimalist grooves with desert-like harmonies while the final track is a nice dubby groover that ties the EP together and links the Algerian Sahara to Berlin's electronic scene.

Review: Laurant Webb, Dave Coker, Justin Bailey, and Dave Pine were the key figures behind Strange Weather Studios, which was a creative hub in Southeast London that helped shape the very early sound of tech house in the capital. Collaborating with friends and partners on several projects, they produced a number of influential records that defined the genre including under aliases such as Housey Doingz, 7th Voyage, and Space Bunny. This release on Sushitech, which always does a fine job of offering up the best tech house past and present, pays tribute to the studio and its collaborators with representative tracks carefully selected by Laurant Webb and label head Yossi Amoyal. Restored and remastered from rare DATs and pressed up to no fewer than six sides of vinyl, it's a great look at a significant moment in the evolution of tech house.

Review: Constant Sound is one of the very many labels that is headed up by Burnski and one that he reserves for club-ready tech house and minimal. Wodda steps up for the latest outing and brings some future garage energy to the opener, 'Reggae Fusion' (Deep mix) which is lit up with lithe synths and smart vocal samples. 'On My Way' has more infectious garage vibes to it with the squelchy drums and hits and some nice heady melodies up top. 'Changing Faces' gets more twisted and brings intergalactic drama to the ass-wiggling cyborg tech beats and last of all, a Tuff Mudda mix of 'Reggae Fusion' shuts down with a silky thump and throwback UKG bass.

Review: While their output has understandably become less frequent in recent years, Kyiv-based Artreform continues to do its best to showcase a new generation of Ukrainian producers. Label boss JOSS is at it again here, offering up a debut EP from previously unheard local talent Wonkie. In its' original form, 'I Meet Somebody' is a ten-minute slab of mind-mangling tech-house complete with fizzing TB-303 motifs, ghostly pads, distant-sounding melodies and deep, evocative bass. Kyiv scene stalwart Io Mulen remixes, wrapping choice elements of Wonkie's original around a shuffling, breakbeat-goes-tech-house beat. Turn to the flip for something rather unusual (but pleasingly good) - a stretched-out tec-house interpretation of Mike Oldfield's 'Tubular Bells', where flashes of the famous melody bob and weave around weighty bass, trippy electronics and crunchy beats.

Review: Two years on from delivering a notably dark, fuzzy and drum-heavy debut on Public Possession (the genuinely brilliant 'Percussion Heaven', which more than lived up to its title), Zellmani is back on the Munich-based imprint with a similarly inspired four-track EP. Check first opener 'Yongheng Forever', a left-of-centre house cut in which weird electronic noises, atmospheric field recordings, saucer-eyed chords and cute melodies ride a charred bassline and unfussy tech-house beats, before admiring the quirky, breakbeat-driven deepness of Piotr collaboration 'Nuevo Portamento'. Over on side B, Gojiano hook-up 'Smutt' is a spacey, thickset slab of late 90s tech-house revivalism with added pots-and-pans percussion, while 'Eternal Loop of Emotions' is another jazz-flecked, breakbeat-driven slab of star-gazing wonder.
