53X - "Zen '23" (Jamie Paton remix)
Review: Emotional Especial marks its milestone 50th release with Gracias Especial, which is a showcase of the label’s past, present and future. Founded in 2012 as the club-focused sibling to Emotional Response, Especial has become a trusted home for genre-blurring dance music from Jamie Paton’s dubwise vision to trance-infused gems by 53X. This celebratory collection release features standout contributions from Alphonse, Chez De Milo, Jonne Lydén and remixes by Paton, whose design and sonic imprint define the label’s identity. A heady blend of slow-motion trance, acid dub, rave nostalgia and deep, dubbed-out beats, it distils 12 years of dancefloor devotion into one essential release.

Escape The Chaos
Review: Trip-hop pioneers Morcheeba return in full force with a stunning 11th studio album, Escape The Chaos. Lead member Ross Godfrey says of the record: "this whole record is a process of trying to reconnect with what really matters, whether it's what in your heart, or with the world, putting your feet on grass and feeling the earth beneath you" says Ross Godfrey. Skye Edwards adds: "In a way, it's a homage to the thirty years of being in Morcheeba, which is 60% of my existence." Since forming in London in 1995, they've sold over 10 million albums, from their platinum-selling Big Calm to collaborations with David Byrne and film work with Steven Soderbergh; now 30 years in, their presence within trip-hop is felt again, with forerunning single 'We Live And Die' providing buzzing hugs of electric bass and clear, haute beats, as Edwards muses on the counterbalancing ups and downs of life.

Escape The Chaos
Review: Formed in 1995, Morcheeba - Skye Edwards and brothers Paul and Ross Godfrey - have spent nearly three decades darning their organic trip-hop to the wider global music fabric, with ear-catching success. The London trio are now raring to contrast their debut statements Fragments of Freedom (2000) and Charango (2002) with a stylistic evolution and a paean to human peace of mind. Escape The Chaos comes after many a solo project, film score, and lineup change, all of which have heard Morcheeba relocate themselves on the popular music map, with far-Eastern instrumental echoes and cinematic sublimes once again bridging divides between classic and contemporary trip hop.

Review: After more than ten years away, 20/20 Soundsystem makes a welcome comeback with some brand new versions of their most standout track, 'Falling'. The group was known for their live mix of electro, deep house, dub and indie and took it to plenty of big stages including Glasto. The new remixes of 'Falling' bring a modern touch and fresh dancefloor-ready energy while never forgoing the spirit of the original. Random Factor's offering is a gritty and dubby electro version and Fernando offers a cosmic chugger with plenty of sci-fi sounds and wispy acid details.

Review: 20/20 Vision's 30th birthday celebrations continue apace with another choice reissue. This one throws it over to Huxley, a prolific and accomplished producer who defined the house and garage sounds of the 2010s. This EP is from 2012 and is one of many standouts that exemplify his bass-driven style. 'Box Clever' brings big paint stabs and bubbly rhythms, 'Atonement' is a low-slung and deep cut with warm pads and silky bass and 'Feel What You Want' is full of colourful cosmic pads and more irresistible grooves. Also included is a new mix from Berlin house Queen Cinthie alongside, for the first time ever, her partner Meat. It's a chunky cut with a new school twist on classic house.

Review: 20/20 Vision marks its 30th anniversary with another great release here in the form of some remixes of Crazy P's iconic single 'Stop Space Return'. The late Danielle Moore's unmistakable vocals shine across two stellar reworks from Colleen 'Cosmo' Murphy who infuses her cosmic, acid-laced disco energy into the track. Her Cosmodelica Remix and Dub version blend trippy 303s, cowbells and deep grooves into something suitably fresh. Also included are two classic Unabombers mixes from 2009, and they offer raw house heat and dubbed-out psychedelia that serves as a fine floor-focused reinterpretation of a beloved anthem.

Review: Claus Voigtmann's Life Miles LP was another fine bit of work from the London-based German, and now two of the singles from it get served up on a new 12" next to remixes from a pair of tasteful underground producers. First up is LA-based Liquid Earth who brings some low-end wonk to 'North Of The Sun' next to acid-soaked grooves and driving 909s. The original pumps a bit harder with a Leftfield cosmic edge. Then comes Youandewan on the flip. He twists 'Lowrider' into a murky and late-night dub cut with warped bass and a signature sense of crispy tech funk. The original is a more high-speed and silky, electro-inspired space cruise with lovely broken beats.

Review: After a much publicised and controversial court trial and abrupt acquittal, Young Thug is back with a full and comprehensive look back on the three mixtapes he released between 2015 and 2016, the collection of which were instrumental in shaping said Thugger's sound, and solidifying his now crown-jewel-guarded place in hip-hop. "Slime" in the Thug lexicography refers to ideas of loyalty and brotherhood, and is a word used within the rapper's own YSL collective and beyond; it recalls the slang phrase "my slime". And much like the amorphous goo that sounds to drip off each of these blasphemously sick beats, each consecutive mixtape tracks a continual honing and reshaping of his sound. With no major label restrictions, and with an unpolished non-veneer, these tunes were the real underground rap baggies that made Thugger's fame. It's only right that they each see a distinct splatter record, housed in a whopper box set.

Review: Up there with other shoegaze trailblazers like Lush, My Bloody Valentine and Slowdive, Pale Saints set the bar for dreamy, eerie and atmospheric guitar music and have influenced countless bands sketching out similar sounds since. This third album of theirs, which is now getting the full re-release treatment after being long out of print, saw them achieve new pop heights. The three-minute banger 'Angel (Will You Be My)' and 'Under Your Nose' are particularly strong in this regard, with singer Meriel Barham sounding like she laid the foundation for what The Orielles would go on to become. Elsewhere, 'Henry' - a more than ten-minute epic - shows a more harrowing, dark side of theirs with slow and tuned down tones leaning more towards sludge metal. Pale Saints' ability to express themselves so diversely puts them up there as hallowed forefathers of shoegaze who will never lose relevance.

Review: The influential German band Xmal Deutschland are overhead rafters in the great mead hall of goth. Their propulsive successes throughout the 1980s meant the genre likely couldn't've done without them. A large band come music collective, made up of at least eight members at any given time, Xmal's formation in Hamburg and would presell audiences on a stalwart performance rep, thanks to an early tour and gig residency in support of dream pop preeminents Cocteau Twins. Rallied to fame by their goth classics 'Incubus Succubus' and 'Qual', this 2xCD review conjoins two of the earliest and most pivotal albums on which both of said singles were housed - Fetisch and Tocsin - along with tracks from other key releases, such as Incubus Succubus II. Helping blacken an otherwise dreamy time, these LPs highlight the gloomier soils of a superficially bright 1980s soundfield, which otherwise roseated by shoegaze. Photography by Kevin Cummins, Paul Slattery, Sheila Rock and more all capture the spirit.

Review: Xmal Deutschland commemorate their influential 4AD years (1983-1984) with a brand new release, literally presenting us with Gift. The collection celebrates the band's profound impact on British audiences in the early 80s, marked by a unique and half-devised lyrical language, as well as a magnetic feminine mystique commandeered by the women in the group. Their breakthrough support slot with Cocteau Twins accompanied the first two albums to come out via 4AD, which grabbed audiences by the collective ear with a painter's stroke of hard-graded darkwave and goth. Gift brims with a penumbral presence, while the titular "gift" is intended as pharmakon, both a present and a poison; Xmal's music is appropriately contradictory and complex, skating thin ices of beauty and elusivity. This limited-edition 3xLP boxset includes Abbey Road remasters of their albums Fetisch and Tocsin, along with tracks from related releases like Incubus Succubus II and Qual, packaged with striking artwork and a photo booklet. The magic of Xmal Deutschland lingers like radiation and has an indelible half-life.

Review: The reissue of New Miserable Experience is sure to bring renewed attention to American alt-rock outfit Gin Blossoms’ bittersweet breakthrough. Behind the 1992 album’s sunny melodies lies a tragic story in which founding guitarist Doug Hopkins, who penned the band's biggest hits, was fired before the record’s success and later took his own life. Songs like 'Hey Jealousy' and 'Found Out About You' capture a raw emotional turbulence that's masked by sparkling guitars and Robin Wilson’s tender vocals. All these years on, the music remains a testament to Hopkins’ brilliance and pain and so New Miserable Experience endures as a jangled, heartbreaking classic of the 90s.

A collage of materials from paintings, drawing, photographs, installations, videos and more.
Notes: The artist MINAMIRYOHEI has cut up and reorganized fragments of all kinds of materials from paintings, drawings, collages, photographs, installations, and videos, and put them into a printed book.

MINAMIRYOHEI has been presenting installation works that focus on "the texture of something to be sensed," which drifts in a "place" composed of a wide variety of elements such as paintings, sculptures, videos, sounds, photographs, lights, ready-made objects, and garbage, and which would be degraded if put into words.

It is a search for "a feeling of being tickled by the other side of the atmosphere," and "A bOOk" is a new attempt to make the phenomenon of representation appear in the "place" of printed matter.

Review: This album was a bold statement in 1985, marking this band leaders transition from frontman of The Police to a solo artist with a distinct musical vision. Now, 40 years later, this anniversary reissue on translucent aqua vinyl reaffirms the album's timeless appeal while honoring the format that first delivered its sonic richness. Stepping away from his former band's signature reggae-tainted sound, Sting embraced jazz influences, enlisting an exceptional lineup of musicians including Branford Marsalis and Omar Hakim. This fusion of pop, rock and jazz gave the album a sophisticated edge, evident in hits like the anthemic 'If You Love Somebody Set Them Free' and the brooding 'Fortress Around Your Heart'. 'Love Is the Seventh Wave' brought a playful, reggae-infused optimism, while 'Russians' showed Sting's political awareness, its Cold War-era message remaining hauntingly relevant. Beyond the hits, the album's depth shines in tracks like 'Moon Over Bourbon Street', a moody, jazz-inspired ballad that demonstrates his knack for storytelling. The reissue's high-quality pressing enhances the album's warmth and clarity, ensuring its intricate arrangements and lyrical poignancy resonate anew. More than a debut, The Dream of the Blue Turtles was a reinventionione that proved Sting's artistry could flourish beyond the confines of a band. This 40th-anniversary edition is both a celebration and a reminder of an artist daring to evolve, crafting music that still moves you four decades later.

Review: Captured on the opening night of their US tour in support of 1985's fifth full-length Possessed, this live performance from Newcastle Upon Tyne first wave black metal pioneers Venom showcases the legends as they ripped through Santa Monica, California on March 28th 1986, delivering an early career-defining set including vital blueprint malevolent thrash bangers such as 'Countess Bathory', 'Buried Alive', 'Teacher's Pet', and of course, the song that would ultimately birth a genre, scene and wave that would eventually take Scandinavia (particularly Norway) by storm, 'Black Metal'. Where bands like Metallica and Megadeth were busy bringing metal to the masses and Slayer were experimenting with just how far the evil envelope could be pushed while maintaining lucrative success, no other metal act in the 1980s showcased such ample disregard for commercial compromise than Venom, maintaining their place as underground forebears for decades to come.

Now with that profile established, he heads out with a new label of his own in the form of About Disco. He inaugurates it with a quartet of edits that he has already been deploying to great effect on various dancefloors around the world. 'Sounds Chicago' does indeed with raw drums and great keys dancing over the beats. 'Ti Amo' has a more funky undercarriage and disco percussion, 'D'Afrique' again brings a funky bass riff to the fore with some psyched-out sounds for company and 'Opera' shuts down with some late-night and soul-drenched synths over intimate and stripped back house drums.

Review: 'Devant Le Miroir' ('In Front Of The Mirror') kicks off an egoistically inclined four-track injection of glassy house music from Achse Germany. It's a wavy opening statement from the Berlin native Lcaise, whose return to vinyl releasing is a real treat, long following 2009's 'Gestosis'. Sharing two out of four grooves on the record, Lcaise commissions Silat Beksi to texturise his opening specular spectacular; Beksi convects the A1's feelin' itself with further catoptric phasings and frazzler textures. The other side is taken up by Polish newcomer Erdal Mauff, with 'Afterthought Sines' puling the best it can get from a widescreen mix made up of ultra-loud highs and vivid stabs, and Fedo producing a burblier, alien spaceship retake.

Review: French producers, Kragg and RTR, split the difference between shadowy electro and jacked-up machine funk on this split release, each taking a side to show their teeth. Kragg opens with ‘Shifton’, a stomping cut with sizzling percussion and greyscale synth stabs, before veering into the eerie with ‘Lazarus’ — all twitchy arps and submerged bass — and the brittle shimmer of ‘Midsummer Night Dream’, which tugs the record into more introspective territory. Over on the flip, RTR brings a tauter, more acidic focus: ‘Tipping-Point’ spirals with tight 303 curls, while ‘Npk Ending’ builds an emotional weight out of melancholic pads and broken-beat rhythms. Closer ‘Squer’ cuts loose with thick, wet squelch and a rolling groove that sticks hard. It’s a smartly sequenced release — raw, yes, but refined in structure — and a promising debut for this new label.

Review: Biz is one of a number of Australian artists who are having a big impact on the sound of contemporary techno, and he has been playing a key role in the scene since the late 1980s. His sound mixes deep basslines with uplifting melodies and he has collaborated with a number of legends as well as releasing music on labels like Transmat and COD3QR. Now on Acquit, he explores the outer edges of our galaxy with celestial synth lines, sci-fi melodies and deep, Detroit-inspired techno grooves that are brilliantly cinematic and evocative. 'Soul Within' is our favourite with its widescreen synths and floating pads.

Review: Info on the Russian producer Curity is shrouded in mystery but this EP on Acquit is enough to suggest whoever they are, they know how to craft seriously sophisticated techno. 'Synthetic Mind' is deep and cavernous with deft pads and beautiful chords swirling over the dusty drum work. 'Standart Routine' picks up the pace with bumpier drums but still warm atmospheres and 'Ephemeral' is another inviting, immersive deep techno sound with gorgeous synth work. '(D)lirium' shuts down with a classy touch of Motor City steel.

ADDAC System ADDAC300 REV.02 Power Starvation Module
Cat: 1075525

A revision 02 of ADDAC's Power Starvation module
Notes: This is a revision 02 of ADDAC's Power Starvation module.

It provides an "ideal" way to power starve other modules, starving modules means the modules will receive less voltage than the standard +/-12V supply.

Power starvation is the first hack that any "DIY'er" learns. It's also one of the hacks that can generate some of the most interesting sonic effects in circuit bending.

Plug any module below +/-200mA through it and independently tune it's supply power. This will have most interesting effects in analog modules: filters, delays, mixers... They can either go silent or start screaming at your ears, going berserk with the lack of current to behaving normally, making them cough, choke... Something like a safely induced heart attack...

While revision 01 was a simple circuit with pot working as a voltage divider, this upgraded version uses a DC to DC converter that receives its input from the +12V power rail and outputs a bipolar 15V supply. This DC-DC converter also offers short circuit and overcurrent protection. The +/-15V lines are then sent through variable analog voltage regulators that can output a range of 2.5V to 13.5V.

In other words, the module features a +/-200mA PSU with variable voltage outputs.

Safety disclaimer:

While using ADDAC300 should be safe for any module, there may be specific modules where its use may not be advised.

!! Use at your own risk !!

ADDAC System won't be responsible for any issue that may arise while using ADDAC300 power starvation.

If in doubt contact ADDAC prior to any connection.

First up he flips the age old classic 'Love and Happiness' into a smooth and seductive sound with lush chords and warming melodies. Flip it over and you will find a rework of 'How Can I Forget You' which becomes a Northern Soul great with big hooks and driving rhythms that will get big reactions in the club. Two different but equally effective and cultured cuts.

Review: Detroit's Marcellus Pittman is one of house music's most unpredictable characters. He was a key member of the legendary 3 Chairs collective but his solo work is arguably even more essential. Here he delivers a standout track from the long sold-out 'The Eastside' EP on Adeen Records. 'I'm Gonna Be the Everything' captures the essence of Detroit deep house with its sparse, driving drums and a thumping bassline and it is rightly given a whole side here for maximum volume. Flip it over for Adeen's in-house live jazz ensemble, A Band of Brothers, rework with lush vibraphone layers and soothing saxophone melodies.

It kicks off with a flip of 'Hogin' Machine' that has raw and dusty drums and funky basslines that keep on coming and keep you locked. things slow down n the B-Side with 'Safari in D'. This one becomes a more mellow and laidback sound that offer a different take on an original by L'Eclair. The bass is warm and melodic, the drums loveably lazy and the keys jazzy and pensive. Super stuff for lo-fi lovers.

Review: German pair Markus Guentner and Joachim Spieth rightly got plenty of acclaim for their 2023 ambient album Overlay and now it gets revisited with a top selection of remixes that breathe new life into the original compositions. Prominent ambient and experimental artists such as Hollie Kenniff, Rafael Anton Irisarri and Pole all show their class while newer names like Abul Mogard smears synths into a misty wonder on 'Scope', Galan/Vogt layer in angelic vocal tones to 'Valenz' and Leandro Fresco brings a lightness of touch that fills with optimism on opener 'Apastron. Guentner and Spieth themselves provide two alternate versions of their originals that bring new emotional and sonic depth.

Nocturna
Review: A cross-hemispheric exchange gave rise to Nocturna, the first collaboration between New Zealand composer Andrew Thomas and German sound artist Joachim Spieth - the former's first for Affin after long-held stints Kompakt. Beginning with Thomas's piano sketches, composed during a Southern Hemisphere summer, the material was passed to Spieth just as light returned to the North. A subtle transformation ensued; Spieth preserved the piano's fragile warmth as its edges came sculpted across ambient textures and restrained sound design. A peek-a-boo of presence and absence is scripted, where each decision to withhold a note feels as resonant as those included. Clipped reverb gargantuans contrast to crystal clear piano scales on our favourites, 'Lumina' and 'Amethyst'.

If you want to do eight channels of mono, you can put the channels in stereo mode (I know it feels backwards) and then use the pan control to control the crossfade between each channel, and then take the mono output. There is a built in cueing system so you can monitor channels in your headphones and control the blend with the main output. You can expand a Bartender with both a Barback and/or another Bartender. 'Fall' kicks off with amped-up chord stabs and brilliantly well-swung, rolling kicks that soon get those hips moving. 'Closer' oozes summer cool thanks to the balmy chords that soften the percussive, garage-flecked house drums. There is also plenty of Kerri Chandler soul in these here beats that makes them all the more essential. 'Filter Feed' layers up dusty perc and thudding kicks with sultry vocal whispers. It's steamy and irresistible and last but not least, Leod is another talent from the coastal town of Margate and remixes this one with a more direct and dubby style.

Review: Originally released in 1996, this track has long been a staple in the deep house canon and this 2025 reissue delivers a collection of the most iconic remixes alongside with a key fresh version. The track's timeless appeal is fully realised through a combination of classic and modern renditions. Side-A has one of the most important versions with the sublime Salt City Orchestra's Out There Mix, a deep house masterpiece with ethereal vocals, hypnotic basslines and an epic feel that makes it timeless as the day it was released. The Trevino Remix flips the track, introducing a more techy, peak-time energy with a rolling bassline that transforms the deep groove into an undeniable floor-filler. Side-B showcases two more versions, beginning with the Frits Wentink Mix, which strips down the track to its soulful essence, focusing on intricate percussion and atmospheric elements. The final track and newest version, the MIDGE mix, brings a new era to Mushrooms, blending modern house vibes with a touch of nostalgia while maintaining the original's soul while infusing a fresh tempo and atmosphere. Mushrooms remains as compelling as ever, proving its staying power in the house music world - and this reissue just proves once again, how in demand this track still is today.

Creilla
You Will (Remaster)
Stabito
Calibre (feat Badano)
Review: Somewhere between a rolling terrace session and a very well-behaved afters, Aloque’s second 12” offers a quietly confident take on modern club gear. The Valencia-based label launched with a bang last year — their debut sold out quickly — and now they return with four new tracks from co-founders Vsan & José Martí. If the first record introduced the label’s sound, this one deepens it. ‘Creïlla’ opens the A side with a stripped, percussive groove that unfolds patiently, stitched together with dubby effects and subtle movement. It’s restrained but functional — the sort of track you’ll play more often than you think. ‘You Will (Remaster)’ leans into darker territory: heads-down and system-facing, with a weighty low end and just enough melodic tension to hold your focus. Over on the flip, ‘Stabito’ takes things into smokier, slower territory. Airy stabs drift in and out over a skeleton of drums, soft-edged but purposeful. ‘Calibre (feat Badano)’ closes with more urgency — a focused, dry pulse driving the most direct track on the record. With two sharp 12”s under their belt and a clear sonic identity forming, Aloque sit right at the centre of Valencia’s shifting dance landscape — these records already feel built to move well beyond it.

Review: Alt-dub never quite found its mainstream moment, but for those attuned to its intricacies, it remains a defining undercurrent in electronic music. Unlike its dubstep cousin, which relied on aggressive basslines and in-your-face drops, alt-dub takes a more measured approach, focusing on subtlety and complexity. It's about crafting a vibe, not smashing through it. San Francisco-based artist Federsen has been a pivotal figure in this niche for over a decade, using vintage tape delays and analogue gear to build immersive, textured soundscapes. His work with labels like Silent Season, Greyscale, Lempuyang and Ohm Series perfectly embodies how dub's elements of space, decay and resonance can be transformed into hypnotic, dancefloor-driven rhythms that unfold slowly. Tracks like 'Dub Trail' and 'Silent Whispers' reflect Federsen's signature approach: slow, deliberate builds, where the bassline is felt more than heard, and the subtle shifts in atmosphere draw us into the groove. It's not about immediate impact, but rather about crafting a space where the music breathes and where the transitions are felt as much as they are heard. 'Echoes In The Void' pushes this idea even further, with its dense, evolving layers of sound, while 'Lunar Dub' offers a more stripped-back, meditative experience. Through Federsen's work, the genre stands as an exploration of depth and atmosphere, where every moment of silence and every drawling transition plays an integral part in the experience.

They evidently have an impressive phone book having drawn in some all-time greats to do justice to the goth rock godfathers, The Cure. The Wedding Present, Tanya Donnelly (Throwing Muses, The Breeders), Devics, Grand Duchy (Pixies' architect Black Francis with Violet Clark) are among the best known here. In terms of those who bring their own style and transform the original, it's worth noting The Poems performing '10:15 Saturday Night' and Elk City performing 'Close To Me'. Truly outstanding.

Their latest, sixth vinyl V/A hears additions from Dulus, Acrobat, Ilias Katalenos & Plecta, Taleman and Shri & Alej, each track a seamless infusion of living, writhing organic sound. Review: Analog Africa doesn't do anything other than special releases really, but this one tracing the label's origins back to Zimbabwe over 20 years ago is a real standout. A carefully curated collection of 25 tracks with a fine booklet proving plenty of extra context, it captures the birth of the country's modern music scene and brims with the creative sound explosion of the 70s and 80s. Before genres were fully defined, artists blended rock, rumba, soul and traditional rhythms in bold, experimental ways that still stand up and get diggers and dancers excited in 2025. Included are never-before-released tracks from Thomas Mapfumo, Oliver Mtukudzi and more and they all add up to rich and dynamic snapshot of Zimbabwe's peerless musical evolution during what was a transformative era.

Endlec - "Total Control"
Review: This blistering four-track compilation from a Greek techno label Analogue, delivers a no-frills, high-impact set of weapons designed for dark rooms and peak-time chaos. Hector Oaks opens with 'Formal Basica', a tribal techno bruiser built on relentless percussion and searing momentum. This is pure machine funk with a primal edge. Obscure Shape follows with “'My Muse Is On Vacation'. a grinding, loopy hard techno cut that broods and boils with menace, pushing the tension without ever losing focus. Flip to Side-B and Jerm’s 'Forcing Function' plunges into industrial terrain, all metallic clangs and weighty kickdrums, evoking a brutalist rave landscape that never lets up. The closer is Endlec’s 'Total Control' which is a deep, shape-shifting techno track that thrives on constant evolution. Layers rise and fall with precision, threading hypnotic sequences into a commanding whole. Each cut stands strong alone, but together they form a formidable combination of well produced techno tracks that can do damage.

Review: Born in Kent and central to the UK’s 70s jazz modernism, Neil Ardley composed with the precision of a scientist and the vision of a cosmic philosopher. This long-overdue reissue from Analogue October captures a project that translates planetary orbits into a nine-note harmonic system—too vast for acoustic instruments, brought to life instead through early synthesisers. ‘Arcturus’ and ‘Spiral Nebula’ interlace fluid sax work from Barbara Thompson with John Martyn’s signature reverb-drenched guitar, while Geoff Castle’s synths evoke deep-space drift. ‘Rainbow Four’ channels modal funk, and ‘Neptune’ floats into ambient abstraction. Produced at Morgan Studios with a full ensemble of jazz heavyweights—Tony Coe, Ian Carr, Billy Kristian, Richard Burgess, and Trevor Tomkins—this is a record that swings between science fiction and symphonic elegance. For all its high concept, it remains rooted in groove and human touch. A meticulous AAA cut from the Decca master tapes seals the experience: a bold and beautiful reminder of how far British jazz once dared to travel.

Review: Genesis' 1983 release begins with an ominous whisper, 'Mama', where Phil Collins channels something unnerving-part confession, part menace-set against sparse, mechanical drum programming. The track crescendos into a searing release, its layers of synths and percussion driving home a deep unease. If 'Mama' is the ghost in the machine, 'That's All' is the human touch: deceptively light, yet built on intricate layers of melody and rhythm that reveal the band's refined craftsmanship. The album balances pop accessibility with progressive roots. 'Second Home by the Sea', a two-part suite, showcases their knack for storytelling through instrumental drama, while 'Illegal Alien' mixes humour with commentary in a way that still provokes discussion. For fans of lush, introspective ballads, 'Taking It All Too Hard' offers a poignant standout moment. This reissue captures Genesis at a pivotal point, straddling their experimental past and chart-topping future. A must-have for fans exploring the evolution of a genre-defining band.

Review: Keeping to a sadomasochistic touring schedule - juggling the dates of which with album releases between 1974 and 1977 - Bad Company were in sore need of a break following the completion of their fourth LP, Burnin' Sky. After two years, they made their return on March 17, 1979, with their fifth studio album Desolation Angels, named after the Jack Kerouac beatnik classic of the same name. A 10-track collection of blues-influenced rock was met with strong chart performance, proving that even amid the rise of punk and new wave, Bad Company's signature sound still had significant appeal. The album's standout track, 'Rock 'n' Roll Fantasy', became a gold-selling single, while tracks like 'Gone, Gone, Gone', 'Lonely for Your Love' and 'She Brings Me Love' emboldened the vocal prowess of lead larynx Paul Rodgers. The album sports a relatively polished production sheen compared to Burnin' Sky, suggesting renewal after disenchantment.

Review: This influential band's 1966 debut album is a landmark release that helped shape the trajectory of rock and roll, not only by introducing two of its brightest starsiStephen Stills and Neil Young, but also with its influential mix of folk-rock, country and psychedelia. Notably, 'For What It's Worth'', a track aimed at the counterculture of the time, became a defining anthem of the era. Other tracks like 'Go and Say Goodbye', 'Nowadays Clancy Can't Even Sing' and 'Hot Dusty Roads' highlight the band's ability to craft memorable, introspective songs. Now reissued on gatefold 180-gram audiophile vinyl, this version offers an opportunity to experience this classic with enhanced sound quality. A crucial part of rock history. It not only marked the beginning of their careers but also paved the way for the iconic collaborations that would follow.

Review: Released in 1977, Crosby, Stills & Nash marked a significant evolution in the trio's sound. A blend of sophisticated pop arrangements, signature vocal harmonies, and polished instrumentation - all tamed in post by the Midas touch of one Bill Halverson - made for one of the era's finest albums; it notably became a benchmark for sound quality. It's therefore become something of a holy grail and acid test for remasterers and reissuers, many of whom have tried their hand at it. A 2017 Rhino cut had a fair go, but this Analogue Productions version is a no less exceptional enhancement, presenting a bolder, more vivid presentation to Rhino's comparatively relaxed feel. Standout tracks include Crosby's ' Shadow Captain' and Stills' 'See The Changes', and the resigned but resolute 'Fair Game'.
