A Sides Vol 11 Pt 7
Cat: DC 2717. Rel: 21 Mar 23
ADHS - "Razor" (6:52)
Julian Jeweil - "Pulsation" (6:41)
Marco Faraone - "Dream" (7:04)
Gary Beck - "Ship Went Down" (5:46)
Review: Gargantuan-room techno trailblazers Drumcode return with 'The A Sides Vol 11 - Pt. 7'. If the title is any indicator enough - and no, it's not irony - this is a stonking closer to a mammoth seven-12" compilation series. The love-em-or-hate-em label always deliver a rave romp for titans, barging past polite types with frick-off bits from A.D.H.S., Julian Jewell, Marco Faraone and Gary Beck. Topping off a project originally conceived in 2012, this is a pulsing sensation suitable for both budding techno enthusiasts and chinstokers willing to let their hair loose for once.

Video Siren (remixes)
Cat: BEK 061. Rel: 16 Jul 24
Video Siren (Remco Beekwilder remix) (5:27)
Video Siren (Clouds remix) (4:44)
Video Siren (Anne remix) (4:55)
Video Siren (Mark Broom remix) (4:29)
Review: Techno veteran Gary Beck returns to our attention with a reissue of his 2012 underground hit 'Video Siren', reminding the listener of how UK techno is done properly. Returning to his own BEK Audio imprint, the track now hears three new, impeccably chosen mixes from among Beck's favourite technoicians: Clouds, Anne and Mark Broom. A lineup made in heaven, the first of these three brings to the track their patented fright-fugs and frigid sound-frays to the fore, marring it in a boundless but no less well-balanced bed of grit-texture. Anne and Mark Broom do similarly as much, but the former artist prefers to pitch down Beck's original vocal sample work for a gender-bending, murmurative undergird, while the latter prefers instead to autopan and phase-delay said vox all around, while indulging a classic pre-drop filterpassed kick tease.

Brian's Proper Dun One
Cat: DC 173. Rel: 07 Jun 17
Brian's Proper Dun One (7:13)
Wait A Second (feat MC R1bbz) (6:41)
Trance, Init? (6:41)
Review: Alan Fitzpatrick returns to Drumcode, marking his first appearance since late 2016 when he remixed Moby's hit "Porcelain".The release opens with "Brian's Proper Dun One", a track which caused a storm on his Twitter profile when he first started playing it last year. Loaded with sharp and pounding drums, this is a no holds barred, certified main room anthem! "Wait A Second" has been getting a lot of play on Drumcode Radio of late. This rave inspired track takes a raw, stripped back approach and delivers a killer blow. Alan sampled the vocals of MC r1bbz from an LTJ Bukem tape pack from the early 90s and the record tips its cap to early jungle raves around the M25. The release closes with "Trance, Init?" a homage to Fitzpatrick's days as a raver before he became a DJ. The breakdown is sure to be a hands in the air moment at festivals all over the globe this summer.
