The Deep Freeze allows for instant sound freezing in three modes of operation. Latch freezes sound each time the footswitch is pressed until the effect is bypassed, while Moment mode freezes sound only while the footswitch is held down. Notes: Module A-135-5 is a combination of a voltage controlled polyphonic mixer and a polyphonic suboctave generator. It is made of 12 voltage controlled amplifiers (VCAs) which are arranged in form of a 4x3 matrix. Herewith up to three four-voice polyphonic signals (e.g. the outputs of three polyphonic VCOs A-111-4) can be mixed. The level of each of the three polyphonic channels (A, B, C) with four voices each can be controlled manually or by means of an external control voltage with associated attenuators.

In addition the module features four frequency dividers which derive the suboctaves from the four input signals of channel A. The suboctave signals are wired to the switching contacts of the sockets of channel B. As long as the sockets of channel B are not patched the suboctave signals of channel A are used as inputs for channel B. The suboctaves are symmetrical rectangle waves with half the frequency of the corresponding signal A. For example two polyphonic VCOs A-111-4) can be used and patched to the channels A and C. Channel B then provides the suboctaves of channel A.

As the module is fully DC coupled it can be used also for the mixing of control voltages in a polyphonic environment (e.g. for envelopes, LFOs or other control voltages).

The switching contacts of the 12 input sockets and the four outputs are internally connected to pin headers. That way the module can be internally pre-patched to other polyphonic modules (e.g. the four inputs A to an A-111-4, the four inputs C to another A-111-4 and the outputs to the polyphonic filter A-105-4). As the switching contacts of the sockets are used for the internal pre-patching the internal patch can be overridden by using the sockets at the front panel.

The Omen is a dual LPG with a bit more than you might be used to. This module was born out of the realisation that it was possible to make far more interesting LPG designs than the standard we've become so accustomed to.

In a convergence of old-school LPG design and more modern components, the Omen boasts two -6dB resonant filters, custom built vactrols, built in CV attenuation and no less than three cutoff modes per filter. Filter 1 is soft and light, imparting a gentle, naturally gated touch of filtering on your sound, while Filter 2 is darker and more resonant, and can turn downright growly and distorted when left wide open.

Designed to give you as many creative options as possible, the Omen has the unique ability to function as either two discrete LPG, or as one 4-pole resonant LPG. When plugging a signal in to Input 1, and with no signal plugged into Input 2, the output will be present at both Output 1 and Output 2, with Output 2 producing the signal as it passes through both filters. Tweaking both filters independently will generate a wide array of soft and sometimes harsh tones, ranging from Buchla bongos to early synthesis brass and organ sounds. There is much to love here.

CV is similarly handled, by plugging in only one CV source, it will act on both channels - this is useful for creating musically similar outputs as well as when using the dual filter operation. However, the dual filter mode greatly benefits from having two CV inputs: use an envelope in CV1 to act as a VCA, and an LFO in CV2 to create tremolo, for instance.

Using custom designed, hand built vactrols, care has been taken to mitigate the less desirable aspects of passive LPGs - in most modules, the user can expect zero bleed through on the LPG channels, and signal attenuation is minimal even with the 4-pole filter settings engaged. Of course, many of the natural features of vactrols remain, such as subtle memory effect when engaging the vactrol for long periods.

Finally, you receive maximum blinkenlights as LED's on the front panel simulate the action of the vactrols, so you'll always know what's going on under the hood. No collection of fancy LPG's is complete without the Omen.

Octave up pedals (as used by so many legendary performers including Hendrix, Tony Iommi, Josh Homme, Billy Corgan, Jack White and so many more), can really give added bite to your sound. But often, many of these fun tools can be untamed and lead to nasty clashing overtones.

With MANDRAKE however, KMA didn't want to just make a one trick pony octave up device. The powerful and ultra-fast tracking Shriek circuit was expanded on with its edgy and fuzzy character that's reminiscent of many of the best vintage octave-up devices. To do this, a 2nd order Low-Pass Filter was introduced, a TIMBRE and individual Mix controls to KMA's well-regarded circuit to make it way more versatile in a single pedal. Let's look at those cool new things in more detail.

The FILTER control helps to tame your upper harmonics, as well as to improve tracking, letting you achieve unhinged, cutting and shrieking mayhem when the control is fully turned all the way to the left. While turning the knob in the other direction gives a more mellow and blooming synth-like texture. The FILTER section is also very useful for tailoring the upper octave effect to different instruments and pickups, where getting the right tone is not a "one size fits all" equation.

Review: Made and released way back in 1958, Somethin' Else is a classic jazz album by the American alto saxophonist Cannonball Adderley, notably his only ever album for the esteemed Blue Note label. It famously hears Adderley enlist the help of trumpeter Miles Davis as one of its sidemen, and this was an ongoing relationship that later paved the way for popular jazz as a whole; without Somethin' Else, we wouldn't have Kind Of Blue, for which Adderley would contribute his sax playing just a year later. Packing the latest BOSS DSP and updated algorithms, the RV-6 gives you eight highly musical reverb effects in one compact pedal. Add body and depth to your core tone with standards like Room, Hall, and Plate, dial up swirling richness with the Modulate setting, or surf it up with a vintage-style Spring reverb. Dynamic mode automatically adjusts the effect depth to your playing touch, providing deep, immersive reverb that won't turn your tone to mud. Dialled-In Sounds at Your Command

The RV-6 makes getting high-quality reverb sounds with your guitar quick and easy- just select a sound mode, tweak the knobs to taste, and play. But while its operation is simple, the RV-6's sound is rich and sophisticated. Under the hood, each mode includes a huge array of detailed reverb parameters, all perfectly tuned for guitar by the BOSS engineers with direct input from many pro players and sound engineers. Even as you adjust the selected mode with the Time and Tone knobs, many parameters are simultaneously adjusted inside to create the ideal voicing for every setting.

Analogue Dry Tone and Versatile I/O

While the RV-6's reverb effects are high-tech digital, you can rest assured that your straight guitar tone always remains pure analogue as the effect is blended in. Convenient auto-switching jacks let you integrate with any pedal chain, with support for mono, mono-to-stereo, and stereo-to-stereo operation. And by plugging into the B input only, the RV-6 outputs a 100-percent wet sound, great for working with more complex rigs that employ parallel processing chains and mixers. There's also a jack for connecting an optional expression pedal, allowing you to control the effect level in real time as you play.

Reverb Modes

+DELAY - This is reverb combined with delay. The synergistic effect provides rich reverberation.
SHIMMER- This reverb is distinctive for its sparkling high-frequency range. It produces fantasy-like reverberation wrapped in spacious overtones.
DYNAMIC- This reverb automatically sets the depth of the effect according to your performance. It produces deep reverberation without blurring the overall shape of your playing.
ROOM- This reverb simulates the reverberation of a room. It produces warm reverberation.
HALL- This reverb simulates the reverberation of a hall. It produces clear and spacious reverberation.
PLATE- This simulates a plate reverb (a reverb unit that uses the vibration of a metal plate). It produces metallic-sounding reverberation with an extended high-frequency range.
SPRING- This simulates a spring reverb built into a guitar amp.
MODULATE- This reverb adds modulation to hall reverb, producing extremely good-feeling reverberation.

Notes: Great for live performances! The Cosmic ECHO Squared is an analogue-sounding LoFi delay that will work with just about anything you plug into it.

The dark, lush, moody tones of the ever-popular PT2399 IC provide an out-of-this-world experience. Our take on this classic pedal pushes the chip's limits so you can explore all the gritty elements drifting at the edge of long delay rates. It already outperforms other bucket brigade style echoes, but just to be sure, we added 2 stomp switches, Blast and Warp.

The "Squared" version of the pedal is tailored to live guitar and keyboard performers. It has all the features of the original plus:

Warp and Blast ("Zone" on the Cosmic Echo) are now momentary stomp switches
Blast amount knob now accessible externally

Features:

Dark, rich sounds with the analogue vibe of a tape echo.

Uses the PT2399 IC, a bucket brigade style emulation. This IC has 16-bit sampling for 30-300 milliseconds. After that, the sample rate goes down in relation to the delay length. This results in artifacts and noise being introduced into the audio for weird, cosmic, psychedelic sounds.

Delay length: 30ms-1,250ms

4 knobs: Feedback, Mix and Rate, Blast Amount. The Mix is a wet-only control that attenuates the amount of delayed signal in the signal chain. The Rate controls the number of repeats in an organic-sounding way.

Warp button: Stomp switch that gives a bright, "small speaker" tone.

Blast button: Stomp switch that introduces feedback into the circuit momentarily. Great for adding rhythmic feedback and other strange sounds. The Blast intensity is adjusted with the Blast Amount knob.

Pedal may have a slight volume drop.

Notes: E4 Encoder Controller

The E4 is a controller with four rotary encoders.

The encoders look like normal potentiometers, but you can turn them endlessly in either direction. (Don't be fooled by the knobs, which do have a pointer).

This allows for a wide range of applications and great flexibility.

Each encoder is surrounded by a square of 32 multicolor LEDs. This LED ring is used to indicate the current value of the encoder. And it looks really great! The LEDs help you to give you an orientation by displaying the current value.

Each encoder contains a push button, which can be used just like those on the P2B8 or on the B32.

The E4 is perfect for mapping many different functions or presets to one encoder and then switch with the buttons of a P2B8 or B32 to some other context. Because of the LED rings you instantly see the current value after switching. And other than with pots, no "picking up" of the value is needed.

Furthermore, the nature of the encoders allows for some useful features, for example:

Create a "multi turn" pot, that needs to be turned several rounds for going through the total range (which allows for a finer selection).
Enable a mode where a slow movement of the encoder changes the value even slower, so it allows for instant fine tuning.
Use an encoder as a switch with a fixed number of positions (the LEDs visualise that)
Select a bipolar value with proper visualisation by the LEDs.
Use an encoder for "strumming", where you get triggers when it is turned.
As a bonus, there is a circuit called encoquencer, that allows you to build a melody sequencer based on the encoders and LEDs of the E4. It has the same features as the sequencer that is based on the motor faders of the M4 (motoquencer).

Hint: The LEDs only shine fully white when you set them up to do so in your DROID patch. As long as you use the encoders in a normal way, the LEDs display colored light which is not as bright, so the power consumption is much less under normal circumstances.
