The Soul
Review: Eddie Richards' vaults are surely some of the best there can be for tech house heads. The Brit was there on the ground, helping to shape the earliest incarnations of the newly emerging genre back in the 90s and early 00s and few have bettered it since. Proof comes from this reissue of a pair of remastered beauties on new label likethis. 'Destiny' has never before been on wax and is a silky, synth-laced sound with crisp drum funk and then the B-side jam 'The Soul' is a dusty and stripped-back mix of drums, hits, swirling pads and irresistibly loopy grooves.

Kingston Riddim
Kingston Riddim (Sato interpretation)
Review: Two decades deep into his career and still pushing forward, this seasoned German DJ delivers something that feels both timeless and fresh. The original version of 'Kingston Riddim' is a smooth, sun-soaked affair. Drawing from island dub but built with a crisp, modern hand, the track is full of warm organic textures and laid-back swing. The chords are clean and expressive without feeling too polished. There's a breezy confidence to the groove that makes it feel effortless. It's the kind of track that could slip into any set and feel right at home. Sato's interpretation dives into deeper territory. The bass rolls in thick and heavy while the chords get more tangled and echo-laced. There's a submerged quality here, like the track has been dragged through deeper waters. It's moodier than the original but still carries that same rooted sense of rhythm. This is one of those rare records where both sides hit in different but equally effective ways.

What Could Have Been
Review: Over a decade after first turning heads with his breakout EP in 2013, the Berlin-based producer continues to tap into a sound that feels both raw and thoughtful. The A-side track 'Scintilla' doesn't waste any time. A twisted acid line squirms its way through a rugged rhythm section, oozing that unmistakable old skool flavour. It's grimy but not sloppy, holding things together with a steady pulse and a vibe that nods to warehouse floors and smoke machines. The energy is infectious and unfiltered, with a wild edge that feels earned, not forced. Then the B-side takes a surprising turn. 'What Could Have Been' steps back from the chaos, opening up into something more reflective. The pace slows, the synths stretch, and a soft, almost cinematic atmosphere settles in. It flirts with early techno forms but leans into melody and mood over sheer force. There's a clear Detroit influence here, but it's refracted through a different lens. The result is mechanical yet full of soul. Two very different sides, each one revealing another layer of a producer who still has plenty to say.

Summer Jam (feat 7FO - live Acid mix)
Review: London-based producer Tapes returns with a 10" packed with dubwise warmth and tape-saturated lo-fi funk. 'Summer Jam' leads with brittle drum machine patterns, dusty chord stabs and shimmering melodic flourishes, unspooling like a sun-faded VHS. Side B dives deeper into twilight territory, dub effects spiralling into half-heard vocal trails and bulbous, filtered bass. The rawness is deliberateievery drop and delay feels like it's been live-dubbed in real time. Known for his idiosyncratic blend of digi-dub, lo-fi electronics and boogie mutations, Tapes keeps things concise but packed with character. A short-format release that punches above its weight, engineered for long warm-ups and open-air moments.
