Review: After years of exploration and experimentation, a new wave of artists from the Andes is now gaining some deserved global recognition. One such artist is Guillermo aka Existencia Pasajera, whose work has been shaped in southern Chile and so smartly reflects the region's newly emerging creative depth. This new release captures his fluid, expressive keyboard style and opens with the trippy and psychedelic loops of 'Haunted House' before 'The Brujo' gets more dark and menacing. The EP also features a remix by Minus legend Magda. Her label debut blends acid, stripped back rhythm and heady grooves, while closing the release is Map.ache of the Giegling collective, whose minimalist approach offers a meditative counterpoint.

Review: There is a great backstory to Darryl Baalki. We don't know how true it is, if at all, but it goes something like this: he is an enigmatic figure raised alone by his mother, his only connection to the outside world was his father's record collection. As a child, he believed this collection contained all the music ever created. Convinced that new music could only emerge by reassembling its parts, he obsessively listened, memorised, and mentally reconstructed sound before making new compositions from existing pieces. This is his latest missive and it is deeply moving, from the percussive jumble of the opener to the earthy shuffle and seductive sax of 'Devil May Care' via the hypnotising trumpet leads of 'Nothing Will Break You'. Fans of Mo Kolours et all will love this.

Review: Dallas-based Ben Hixon has long been one of the key contributors to the catalogue of hometown label Dolfin Records, most recently co-producing a swathe of cuts on fellow Texan J.T Donaldson's most recent EP. Here he returns to solo action with a typically assured two-tracker. Check first A-side 'Cuming Inside', where warming Fender Rhodes motifs, squelchy synths, cut-up soul vocal snippets and warming bass cluster around a crunchy drum machine beat and jammed-out melodic motifs. Based in the UK, the producer debuts with a raw but focused blend of electro, house and technoihis nod to the Motor City filtered through a distinctively UK lens. Review: NYC-based Anthony Naples returns with his sixth long-player, serving up a ten-track dub-house trip via his own ANS Recordings. Naples leans into loose, shuffling rhythms and worn textures, drawing from the fringes of classic house, albeit filtered into its most stripped components. There's a sense of movement throughout - from the swirling low-end of 'Hi Lo' to the playful glitch of 'Bounce' and the fervent tempo of 'Night. Pulsing but unhurried, the album builds a world of soft hallucination and heads-down propulsion, rooted in the club but reaching toward astral realms. Scanners feels like a late-night drive through mist: strange, beautiful, and strangely fleeting. A subtle but absorbing record from an artist continuing to chart his own trajectory.

Review: This latest Unxpozd release has taken a hot minute to arrive but it's been worth the wait, because once again DJ Aakmael shows off his deep house class. '6minutes' kicks off with the sort of whimsical late-night chords that soon get you dreaming as the loveably lazy grooves slouch on. 'Just A Track pt. 8' shows Aakmael's sample skills as he chops up the sounds with some nice jazzy keys. You won't find a groove more lush and smooth than the gently cosmic 'Track 123' while 'Autumn' is perfectly stripped back to chunky kicks, slowly ascending chords and a hint of Kerri Chandler soul with a gospel vocal hook.

Review: Second time around for eccentric Sheffield trio The All Seeing I's sole full-length excursion, 1999's Pickled Eggs & Sherbert, which here lands on vinyl for the first time.The album, a celebration of Steel City creativity featuring cameos from Cocker, Tony Christie, Babybird and the Human League's Phil Oakey, is best remembered for hit singles 'The Beat Goes On', 'Walk Like a Panther' - lyrics reportedly penned by Jarvis Cocker - and 'The First Man in Space', but there are plenty more highlights amongst the unique blends of fractured dancehall rhythms, redlined electronica, oddball easy listening references, experimental d&b rhythms and genuine leftfield pop nous. Review: Galcher Lustwerk, the Cleveland-raised, NYC-based producer, has carved a unique lane in deep, low-key post-hip-house since his 2013 debut 100% Galcher. Through smoky, stream-of-consciousness vocals evincing an ability to both produce and locute, his work blends funk, rap and r&b into hypnotic club and after-hours four-scapes. On Information, his Ghostly International debut, Lustwerk refined his tech-noir house corner. Live drums and jazz sax added fresh texture, while Lust's trademark narrative cryptologes evoked dimly lit dives, fleeting encounters, and an all-round shadowiness. 'Cig Angel' and 'Another Story' pulse with the sonic linguals of mumble-core film and salivatory softened production, while 'I See A Dime' races forward with syncopated lyrics and daring bongos. True to an enciphered ethos, Lustwerk plays with perception: "Information doesn't equal knowledge."

Review: Houston's Seven Davis Jr continues his musical explorations via his Secret Angles imprint, serving three floor-focused cuts on 'Is This The Apocalypse'. The long-serving US producer, vocalist and DJ is unafraid of experimentation, and his latest offering delivers a set of forward-facing house and techno hybrids. Stripped, straight to the point, simultaneously familiar and fresh i the club room is very much the focus here. The energetic opener 'I Should Be In Japan' arrives with semi-sung vocals echoing over sleazy bass and fierce four-four rhythms, before 'PBS (Party & Bullshit)' ups the tempo with jacking drums driving spoken-word sass over a stripped-back topography. Review: After spending the majority of his 20-plus-year career flitting between the Kompakt and Coneme labels, Matias Aguayo makes a rare outing on another label - a delayed debut for Matt 'Radio Slave' Edwards' REKIDS imprint. In its' original form (side A), 'El Internet' is a typically off-kilter affair in which his own poetic, spoken word vocals (in Chilean, of course) and fuzzy, elongated synth sounds ride a beefy but wonky bassline and the long-serving producer's usual South American-tinged, hand percussion-enhanced hybrid house/techno grooves. For 20 years, Reilly has gone his own way, operating in and on genre after genre, up-peggable as he is adept, blending breaks, digidub, electro, garage, house, and jungle across a repertoire of no less than 50 EPs. Though this release serves as his farewell, as Reilly formally steps back from music production, it beautifully showcases his skill in programming, with 'Questions 2' proving a sleight hand for twinging post-funk leads, and 'Questions 7' bringing unprecedented sci-fi desolations to an erstwhile jam-funky tune collection.

Review: Oakland culture hub Cone Shaped Top, boost Tomu DJ's sophomore album to the world and it's an absolute bounty of flavours, ideas, textures and tales. At its most urgent and fast-paced, it takes the form of dubwise, reggae influenced drum & bass ('Tortfeasor'), at its most stripped back it's the hazy psychedelic rock of 'Window'. Elsewhere we're struck by lo fi house ('Flowers'), ESG-style post punk funk ('New Groove') and full-on psychedelic soul ('Distant Memory'). And that's not even half of this beguiling adventure. This really is an exceptional body of work.

Review: Balearic scene stalwarts Chris Coco and DJ Rocca are old pals, with the pair first working together five years ago on an EP released by Faze Action's FAR imprint. Cocorocca, though, is their first collaborative full-length - a set that cannily combines Coco's love of fluid pianos, tactile downtempo grooves and sun-soaked ambient textures with DJ Rocca's passion for dubby basslines, moon-lit low-tempo nu-disco, starry Balearic synth-pop and the trippy and psychedelic ethos of Italy's 1980s Afro-cosmic scene. As a result, there's plenty of subtle variety on show - compare, for example, the dubbed-out slow acid oddness of '303/808' with the sunset-ready dancefloor colour of 'Sunshine Love' and the slap bass wielding dub disco madness of 'Night Dubbin' - as well as plenty club-ready material.

His Yoruba Records imprint has long been a conduit for globally infused, soul-drenched house music, but here he turns inward, stripping things back to something more meditative while maintaining his signature warmth. 'Wiggle Room' opens with rhythmic vocals, strings and congas that gently invite movement. The pace slows in 'PASS!!,' building a quiet tension, before 'Hang Nail' introduces Middle Eastern-inspired melodies and sharp, punchy beats. 'Luv' offers a burst of warmth with lush chords and smooth vocals, capturing the essence of that classic deep sound. In 'She Represents,' heavy 303 basslines pay tribute to Shirley Chisholm, intertwining excerpts from her iconic speech with commanding rhythms. 'So Long...Stranger' reflects on the isolation of the pandemic, a quiet moment of introspection, before 'Modular Movements' closes the collection with an emotionally charged resolution. Review: In the late summer of 2019, DJ Rocca and Chris Coco spent time together at the intimate La Casella festival in Umbria, Italy, where they chatted about Italo disco, the Rimini/Riccione riviera in the 90s and classic Italian clubs. Inspired by their conversations and imagined memories of scenes they weren't part of, they set out to make the music which over time, evolved into CocoRocca DiscoTeca, an imaginary retro-futuristic club blending past influences with future possibilities. It draws on dub, house and disco and is now resented on this wonderfully escapist full length which starts slow and dreamy, raises the pulse then slows down to a nice emotive finish. A fine reimagine of some classic sounds.

Review: Sometimes a tune comes along that you just know is going to come a bit of a cult classic. We have the feeling that will be the case with the opening gambit on this new series, Musik For Pet Lovers, from the Memory Believes Before Knowing Remembers imprint. It is the work of AKeeM Dans Op De Deel who remixes DJ Bistro Schulz's 'Disco Loves You' into a languid, grubby groove that slowly but surely does great things with scattered percussion, radiant synths, minimal rhythms and plenty of mood shifts, not least when the classic vocal sample drops in. On the flip is AKeeM & 4-Takte's 'The Sermon' which is another slow-motion but high-impact sound with spoken words, dub drums and yearning pads.

Review: Outer-psychic dance orienteers Invisible Inc. return to the fore with a bright, effulgent, new wave and disco infused EP, Sordid Sound System's 'Gimme Fever'. A pungent, eight-track mini-record best played at a motorik tempo, this one wafts full Oort clouds of psychosomatic orga-noise in a refractive stylistic rain-ring, coming full circle on torrential synth cascades like 'Gimme Fever' and 'Inanna'. Opener 'Wired Wyrd' is circuitous and boxy enough, and keeps truer to a surfy song format, recalling early filter-glam James Ferraro. We reach a full, pavilioned exotic head within the plodding pergola that is 'The Ocean', up which rare vines climb a trellis made of tuned steel pans and reso-sploited marimba.

Review: How is it that this EP from Warren Harris, aka the deep house maestro Hanna, is now 20 years old but still sounds like tomorrow music? Such is the vision of Harris that his off-grid grooves and sparkling cosmic melodies have aged to perfection. The pads weave in and out of the wonky kicks on 'Metropolitan' to make for an outlier soul sound. 'Cottage' pairs more wispy melodies with cool-as-you-like drums and on 'Healing' there is a sunny day feel with glistening and golden keys and louche drums persuading you to sway. 'Afternoon In Paris (NY mix)' brings some swaggering jazzy swing and busy keys work that again transcends space and time. This is one of the many classics on Theo Parrish's Soul Signature label.

Review: New Theo Parrish? Yes please. The Sound Signature boss remains in a class of one and continually finds new ground to explore in the studio, often taking a freeform jazz mindset to roughed-up house and techno that blends the mechanical with the soulful in otherworldly, hypotonic fashion. 'Orange Barrel Action (Yellow Flashing Light mix)' is very much in that mould with lumpy drums detuned and off-grid keys and hissing hi-hats all coalescing into something seductive and subversive. 'Pianamonn' is a deep house foundation topped with weird and wonky keys in inimitable Parrish style.

Taken from his Paranoid Fantasies long player, this package fuses glitches, circuit-bent rhythms and nostalgic chords into something fresh. The Freespacemix blends melancholic synths with a garage bassline, while the one and only Isolee delivers a sharp, refined rework. Ohm Hourani rounds out the EP with a hypnotic minimal version, adding a deep, atmospheric touch to a fine array of new takes on the signature sound of Delavelour.

Review: For the uninitiated, DELINSTR is an alternative alias of Shewey Trax regulars Delicate Instruments, a Californian duo known for the decidedly intergalactic, cosmic and West Coast-friendly nature of the deep house sound. They stretch out a little stylistically on this four-tracker, confidently striding between sleazy and mind-mangling acid jackers (the raw and breathless 'Here We Go'), dubby and bleeping deep house headiness ('Earth Game (DELINSTR Winning Mix)', thumping aural intensity (the alternative 'Loud & Clear' version of 'Here We Go') and intergalactic house/techno fusion (the excellent 'Deeper Into Space'). All four tracks sound immediate and loose round the edges, as if they started life as live studio jams.
