Always bringing something a little different to the house and disco edit game, this time they've reached out to the legendary Chez Damier to team up with label boss Camille and Italian producer Nico Lahs in assembling a compilation of on point edits that will have any keen digger in a frenzy. Across two slabs of wax we get respectfully touched up versions spanning a range of styles. There's powerful singalong soul stirrers like Janice McClain's 'Giving My Love', nasty low down groovers like Love Cild's Afro Cuban Blues Band's 'SpanDisco', and lots more besides. If you need some deep cover heaters with girth in all the right places, look no further.

Review: Few albums are steeped in as much worldly music heritage as this Afrofunk masterpiece. Recorded in Ginger Baker's ARC studio in Lagos, mixed down in Tin Pan Alley Studios and, just recently, remastered at Abbey Road: everything about this previously rare-as-hens-teeth album screams class. Everything about it screams funk, too. Deep, bluesy, psychedelic and textured in rich intricate percussion, there's a strong sense of spirituality throughout. Review: The Now Again reissue mission overseen by brother Egon returns to the UK for more contemporary jazz and library sounds from the ever excellent Natural Yoghurt Band. The Stones Throw offshoot was responsible for a much called for 2009 reissue of the duo's first album Away With Melancholy - released in typically limited quantities via Jazzman. Two years on and the duo come forth with some fifteen tracks of new material which is delightfully presented across two ten inches housed in a veritable book of a gatefold sleeve. Inside you get a typically expert range of dusty funk, retro psychedelia and library breaks with the final neck snapping track "Biscuits" a particular highlight.

It's quite hard to comprehend that such a pivotal album in the history of free jazz has taken this long to be reissued. Originally coming out in 1980, Visions Of The Third Eye is a landmark piece of work which saw the untamed terrain of free jazz being navigated with a certain soulful, spiritual bent which lands differently compared to a lot of other works in the genre. New Life Trio was made up of monumental drummer Steve Reid, guitarist Brandon Ross and bassist David Wertman, and on this record they broke down barriers but never at the expense of the feeling. Now Early Future have faithfully reissued the album with an appropriate level of grandeur, remastered and featuring a 20-page zine with interviews, essays and more.

And he's making quite the statement; The Beat Down sizzles with myriad inspirations and influences, pitching Speed somewhere between Kanye and Dangermouse. Review: Spanish label Saft has a fantastic catalogue of richly musical deep house and now one of its legals adds this fantastic jazz-funk-house effort. It is a cosmic soup of Rhodes chords, gorgeous percussion and glowing melodies that are as warm as toast and beautiful by design. Review: Released the same week as Mark De Clive Lowe's collaboration album with the Rotterdam Jazz Orchestra, it's definitely the month for electronic/dance-based acts getting physical with full bands. Here The Taxidermist takes a more free-form approach with different musicians gracing different tunes. The message is the same throughout; soft sonic tremors, sweet surprises and moments of truly unique melody. It's all beautiful, but highlights include the lone trumpet stumbling over strange-signature percussion of "Angels & Demons At Play" and the 70s TV theme tune flavour of "Algernon".
