Deep House
  1. I Never Knew Love (MK club mix)
  2. I Never Knew Love (Made In Detroit mix)
  3. I Never Knew Love (Change Up mix)
  4. Help Myself (Carl Craig remix)
Review: As one of the earliest Chez Damier cuts to see the light of day, "I Never Knew Love" is more than welcome to a reissue to reach a fresh set of ears needing schooling in the ways of true deep house. It's an all-star cast here from artists in their youth, from MK's club mix of the star title in all its unmistakable MIDI Sax-ing glory, through to Carl Craig in a breezy piano breakbeat mood that's utterly charming in its simplicity. The real pick though is the "Change Up" mix of "I Never Knew Love" with its stripped back drums and spellbinding chord-led breakdown.

Deep House
  1. Mental Breakdown (Oracy Psychic Rainfall edit) (8:03)
  2. Never (Jeff & Gregg Favourite original Foxy Classic) (8:18)
  3. Never (St Germain revamp) (5:44)
Review: Chez Damier's timely resurrection via the Mojuba imprint has been one of the most revelatory things to happen in house music over the last ten years. While the man's heritage spoke for him, an endless slew of timeless gold for Prescription, the German label have opened the eyes of many young listeners to the power of Damier. For this latest 12", the producer is re-produced from some of the imprint's casuals; Oracy's opening edit of "Mental Breakdown" is the bomb here, a fine example of what real DEEP house should be about - everything from the percussion to the groove and synths is perfectly interlocked and absolutely devastating as it rolls out more and more of its 4-bar loops. Jeff & Greg's 'classic' remix of "Never" is a bumpy, amicable Chicago banger, but legend St Germain drops some real funk on his own re-work of the tune. Essential house gear!

  1. I Am With You (Iron Curtis remix) (7:45)
  2. I Am With You (Outboxx remix) (5:20)
  3. I Am With You (Ekkohaus remix) (6:31)
  4. I Am With You (Sakro remix) (6:32)
Review: REPRESS ALERT: It was undoubtedly a big moment for Hudd Traxx when they got Chez Damier on board to lend his vocal tones to Eddie Leader and Tomson's "I Am With You" back in 2014. A few years on and Huddersfield's premier house label are revisiting the modern classic with a raft of top shelf remixers on hand. Iron Curtis brings a bubbling, piano-enriched lilt to the jam, while Bristolian duo Outboxx go for an understated slice of straight up deep house. Ekkohaus gets busy with chunky tech house concoction, and then Sakro smooths the mood out with some jazzy keys and a steady groove.
