Jupiter (12")
Cat: IFSXXX 004. Rel: 27 Jul 22
Bukez Finezt - "Jupiter" (3:39)
Sir Hiss - "Danny Uzi Vert" (Bukez Finezt remix) (4:41)
Review: More massive than all the other bangers put together... Bukez goes full interplanetary on us with this killer Infernal 12". Two sides, two vibes; 'Jupiter' is a cosmic yomp on a steamroller made of stars. Flip for a technicolour twist on a cult Sir Hiss classic 'Danny Uzi Vert'. Taking the iconic accordion riff from Hiss's 2018 Infernal release and flipping it into a powerful rainbow cascade, it's a futuristic take that pays full respect to the original and has been eagerly awaited by spotters for some time. Grab it while you can.

Words (12")
Cat: IFS 012. Rel: 04 Dec 18
Words (feat Dutchie) (4:34)
LAX (5:07)
Words (Sax cut) (4:35)
Review: While Infernal Sounds' releases often come from little-known or previously unheralded dubstep artists, their latest EP is the product of two very experienced producers: sometime Moonshine Recordings regular Bukkha and Californian duo Subtle Mind. Sweet soul vocalist Dutchie lends a hand on A-side "Words", providing a dreamy, emotion-rich focal point above the trio's crunchy rhythm, dub-wise flourishes and booming bass. On the flip, jaunty, flute style melodies flutter around warm chords and an exotic rhythm track on loved-up workout "LAX", before the North American threesome add some snaking sax and clarinet solos to a slightly reworked instrumental take on "Words".

Haiy (4:24)
Untitled R V3 C (4:41)
Review: 'Haiy' you, turn that frown upside down... Causa is back on Infernal for the first time in a very very long time with two absolute pounders. 'Haiy' bids us welcome with a series of squelchy, wet wobbles that seem to rattle either side of the booming kicks and blocky snares. Flip for the long-awaited dub that is 'Untitled R V3 C'. Trippy, hypnotic and relentless, what it lacks in a snappy title it more than makes up for in its weight and tension. Causa frenzy.

Dubhelmet EP
Cat: IFS 003. Rel: 28 Jun 16
Dubhelmet (5:35)
Dawn Chorus (5:05)
System One (4:43)
Review: Infernal Sounds started as a widely followed YouTube channel specializing in promoting other people's music and mixes, but over the last two years they've started churning out solid, deep-minded dubstep of their own. And dubstep it is, because we don't like labelling any UK dance tune that deviates from house simply as 'bass'. Newcomers Causa and Shu drop a heavy, murky bombshell in "Dubhelmet", followed by the comparatively sunnier bass pounds and two-steps of "Dawn Chorus", and the DMZ vibes of "System One", a traditional sort of banger that you don't often here anymore. Tip!

Cat: IFS 013. Rel: 30 Jan 19
Wrath Of God (4:37)
Dilemma (4:11)
Fuck 'em (4:10)
Review: Dubzy's back with some biblical business, old testament style: "Wrath Of God" lives up to its name with swaggering near-operatic levels of theatre and drama and high levels of smite in the subs. "Dilemma" softens the vibe a little thanks to a set of Oriental pipes and a springy funk in the drums. Finally, "Fuck 'Em" shuts the EP down with a swampy 2007-style system shake. Loose percussion, big string strikes and a few surprises in bassline; the omnipotent Chad is in fine form here. Smiting ain't easy.

The Business EP
Cat: IFS 026. Rel: 06 Jan 21
The Business (3:19)
Naraka (4:20)
Amplified (4:34)
Unresolved (4:12)
Review: Infernal Sounds return with family member Chad Dubz (Foundation Audio) alongside debutant Somah - the latter previously of Deep Medi Musik, Scrub A Dub and Chord Marauders fame. The Business EP features the wonky wall of sound of the title track and its proper progressions in grime, followed by the sinister street level futurism of 'Naraka' going down a dark dubstep route. On the flip, the dread infused mediative dub on "Amplified" is an EP highlight, followed by the equally minimal and contemplative halftime journey "Unresolved".

Electric Avenue
Cat: IFS 024. Rel: 11 Feb 21
Electric Avenue (4:54)
Horizontal (5:12)
Review: Infernal Sounds enlists Cluekid for a new EP that serves up some seriously heavy bottom ends. 'Electric Avenue' and 'Horizontal' are two of the artist's most sought after dubs. The a-side is a hark back to the heydays of 2008. It's got some big jungle samples and mad low end wobbles that will turn you inside out. Flip it over for 'Horizontal' which is made from a similar mould but has a nice melody in the background to add freshness. Once again the low end will loosen your bowels making this a devastating two tracker.

Dakimh X T-Man - "Tell Me Nothin'" (4:27)
Darkimh - "Gin Swing" (4:08)
Darkimh - "Boneclick" (4:13)
Review: The darkman returns. After teasing us with unreleased dubs for the last year, Irish murksmith Darkimh is back on Infernal with three remarkable 140 jams. "Tell Me Nothin'" sets the scene as Manny MC T-Man gets rapid over some grimey horns and beats, "Gin Swing" fuses eastern pipes with slo-mo 808 fire while "Boneclick" seals the deal on a surprisingly funky edge. All sleazy G-synths, it flips some serious purple Vs and leaves us wanting more. You can't tell this guy nothing.

Darkimh - "Eclipse" (3:46)
Darkimh - "Eclipse" (Malleus remix) (3:58)
Darkimh & Taiko - "Unwarp" (3:43)
Review: Darkimh is an absolute monster and "Chain Smoker" is proof. Warped horns, scatty energy and a breakdown that will have you stewing in your own dark soul, is this doesn't have the floor screwing then nothing will. "Eclipse" packs more of an elegant punch with its flighty chimes and tightly wrapped kicks and sirens. Flip for crucial gothic remix by Malleus and a triumphantly trippy co-lab with fellow brain-warper Taiko. Pure innovation.

Waiting For Jah (5:10)
Review: From Bristol with love; DE-TU return to Infernal with more of their signature sweet stuff. "Tried By Tu" will be familiar to many thanks to its heavy dub rotation and those lonely eastern strings that don't as much as pluck at your heart but pull your entire vascular system out. "Waiting For Jah" is a much darker twist up. Primed for real soundsystems and rumbling with sub weight and minimal muscle, if your brain isn't screaming Outlook festival really loudly when you hear this then you might need to consult your GP.

What Ya Mean (4:21)
Faya Blazin (4:37)
Ambush (with DE-TU) (5:02)
Trasher (4:13)
Review: Dropping the weirdness upside your lugholes as rapid as they drop the vowels, longstanding Italian crew D Operation Drop return to Infernal with four blessed slap-abouts. "What Ya Mean" sets the scene with off-key pipes and trippy tape stops, "Faya Blazin" twists up the pitch for a spicy 23rd dancehall sesh while "Ambush" plunges us deep down into strange swampy territories. Finally "Trasher" closes on a deep space dub tip; all lasers and reptilian bass textures. Slimy... In the best possible way, if ya know what we mean.

Grunks (4:54)
Review: Feeling like there's not enough Francais in your life? You're not alone, Frenchless feel that vibe too. But that's literally all we know about this mystery duo at this minute. All we have are these heavy pressure sounds, but it's more than enough to go on for now... '3C 273' takes us to the stars on a rocket of absurdly dense kicks, a menu of percussive sounds and textures and haunting eastern pipes. 'Grunks' meanwhile takes us much deeper into their anonymous French-dry hearts with a lolloping, woozy system melter where the kicks once again take the lead and every vibey element duly follows. Merci la Frenchless... Qui que vous soyez!

Darkimh - "How Do You Know" (3:55)
Sordez - "Lighthouse" (5:05)
Substrada - "Daka" (5:10)
Review: Infernal Sounds is sort of how you might imagine an old mum or dad to describe some young producer's efforts in their bedroom studio. But no, it is actually the name of this fledgling label which is now back with a seance EP featuring various emerging artists all offering up one tune each. Hypho & Abstrakt Sonance - take the first slot with 'Take It Or Leave It' (feat Rakjay - VIP), a low-end wobbler of the highest order. Darkimh brings some melodic intrigue to his late-night cruise and Sordez then gets funky and minimal with 'Lighthouse'. Substrada's 'Daka' is a superb bass number with crashing hits.

Saule - "Cure Dem" (J Kenzo remix) (4:43)
Shijima's Revenge (6:11)
Review: J:Kenzo strikes us down with pure bass weight once again, this time on Infernal Sounds with an almighty remix of San Francisco's Saule's ploughman stepper "Cure Dem". Adding an orchestral twist to those murderous stabs, this remix doesn't so much as cure but completely blazes every possible inch of your skin. Flip for an escapade of more ominous proportions as "Shijima's Revenge" takes us deep into Japanese legend with a powerful droning bass and a march-like groove that will have you trooping into the shadiest of graveyards. Absolute murderation.

Realise (feat Rider Shafique) (5:11)
Bayside Shakedown (4:15)
Review: Fresh from his Encrypted excursion earlier this year, Karnage returns with two more powerful packages of pure future. "Realise" features the smoky, purring tones of Rider Shafique who calls for unity over paranoid dynamics and shattered rim shots. Most commonly spotted around the 160 mark with the likes of Sam Binga, Rider's control at 140 is just as strong, as anyone who's familiar with Ishan Sound will already know. "Bayside Shakedown" taps into Karnage's eastern roots with its processed rising percussion before dropping into organs straight out of a zombie b-movie. Incredible scenes.

Bonafide (4:40)
Single Fuse (4:38)
Fivers (4:48)
Intricacy (with Foamplate) (4:40)
Review: Nova is a new signing for the Infernal Sounds crew and the artist has saved some of his best work for the occasion. He opens up with 'Bonafide,' a dark and heavy wobbler with a busy, oscillating low end that is full of menace while some subtle pitched up vocals hint at the rave. 'Single Fuse' is a noter one to loosen the bowels and melt your face with its lumpy, leggy rhythms and tripped out watery effects. It's 'Fivers' which then gets more tight and tense with an edgy synth hustling in the background while jittery snares keep you on edge up front. 'Intricacy' closes with a heavyweight bottom end and plenty of reverb to get lost in.

Aye Aye (4:59)
Review: Longstanding dub reppers Infernal Sounds shred into 2016 with a brand new label. If you've followed their unfettered support for authentic dubstep, you'll already know how much of a big deal this is. Kicking off with New Zealand duo Perverse, both sides rumble with class; "IO" is laced with trippy percussive ricochets and a stately amphibious warble while "Aye Aye" is a sludgier, unhurried pensive construction full of dark drama. From the packaging to the sounds; you know Infernal have spent a long time planning this label debut... And they're likely to have spent even longer planning the oncoming release-assault.

Space Riddim (3:55)

Review: Three exceptional low end delights from Parisian artist Quasar right here on Infernal. Each cut as unhurried as the last, there's a latent swagger coded deep into each groove as the Frenchman does his thing... 'Reminiscence Dub' is a gloopy, dubby strut in deep space, 'Space Raiders' hits with a deep bounce that recalls the likes of Roots Manuva's hopeful anthem 'Witness' while 'Molotov' (with Causa) brings the EP to an explosive finale. Unforgettable.

Suede (Mesck remix) (4:27)
Review: Karnage & Rider Shafique's IFS006 was always going to be hard to match but Infernal Sounds have maintained the bar with this is leftfield couplet of technoid, industrial-strength steppers from San Fran's Saule. "Cure Dem" bites hard with its spiralling paranoid riff that digs deeper and deeper under your skin while "Suede" gets a little ghostly with tripped out reverse textures, alien FX and enough dubspace to park a fleet of buses. Remix-wise Mesck adds to the panic as he adds a grizzlier, sleazier feel to the low end of "Suede". Immense.

Review: It's been a while since we last saw Sepia on Infernal Sounds but rolling deep with Rider Shafique, he fits right back into the groove with the sublime and title track 'Time Stands Still'. A fitting title for a dreamy vibe, it's backed up by a wide range of gems... 'Gatekeeper' is sludgy, gloom-coated creeper, 'Whispers' sees him teaming up with Ickle for an icy swagger while 'Trust' closes the EP on a gentle, woozy tip. Timeless.

Tales From The Crypt (4:14)
Review: Sepia returns to Infernal for his seemingly annual release on the label... And you better have your air woodwind instruments at the ready. "Flutez" is one of those jaunty, offbeat riddims than can't help but generate a wry grin and sense of air musicianship from your dancefloor. Listen to how those subs flop like slinky springs around the kicks. Dig deeper for more off-kilter immersion: "Cross The Line" is a classically trained stripped-back wobbler while "Tales From The Crypt" drives us up to the local cemetery in a transit van, gives us an air flute and leaves us to pipe our own way home. Classic Sepia. Classic Infernal.

Review: Don't believe the name; Sepia's running on full technicolour right now as he continues to push new ideas and sounds to the ever frothing 140 cauldron. Having appeared on Infernal's second release, the Bristol magician returns for their 10th with four slabs of fresh bass weight. Ranging from the head-bending trippiness of the second drop on "Mordecai" to the heavy pressure swagger of "Instinct" via the overt dreaminess of "Sekhmet", it's another immaculate document from the man who can do no wrong right now.

Danny Uzi Vert (4:26)
Taj Mahal (3:18)
Review: Having built up his reputation via a series of digital-only EPs, young grime producer Sir Hiss finally makes his first appearance on wax. There's been plenty of hype for the Bristol artist's debut vinyl two-tracker, too, with the few early copies that landed in stories selling out in record time. Listening to the clips, it's easy to hear why it's so sought-after. A-side "Danny Uzi Vert" is a deliciously melodious and summery affair, with accordion style melodies rising above warming chords, rich bass and an undulating, hybrid grime/dubstep rhythm track. Turn to the flip for "Taj Mahal", a more straight-forward club rocker built around bustling, swinging beats, jangly guitar samples, whistling melodies and notably weighty bass.

Review: Infernal hit the big two-oh and they've recruited Taiko to mark the occasion. Last spotted on the label around 009 by way of a Darkimh co-lab, this is his debut EP for Infernal and it's long overdue. Each cut gets darker and more uncompromising as we creep and writhe from the gothic haunted house bass harmonics of "Giant Big Man" to the lighter, ghostly flutters and gurgling bass of "Slingshot Dub" right through to the trippy, warped finale "Pen To Paper". A giant big release.

Review: Fresh between releases on Deep Medi and Artikal, French bass lord Von D makes his debut on Infernal with three more hot slabs of bass drama. 'Hunedoara' takes us deep into the heart of Transylvania with its swaggering drums and spooky undertones, 'Akasha' takes us further east on a rocket powered by eastern pipes and pure bass sludge before we climax with 'Layers'. Saving the best till last, 'Layers' is Von D at his most melodic and emotional. Heavy, thoughtful, focused but maximal; there's almost a classical schooling behind the bass weight. Stunning, as always from Von D.

Review: Barely a fortnight has passed since the gully Frenchman we know and love as Monsieur Von D shared an exceptional release with Egoless and already he's back. This time he's on Infernal Sounds, which is already proof of its quality - considering how selective and detail-oriented the label have been since launching two years ago. "Cross Of Hendaye" is a solid mechanical roller with heaps of human funk coded into the waspy bassline. "Remember" is a straight up homage to the early days with a sub that palpitates so heavily and tangibly your own heartbeat will sync within seconds. True to the craft.

Review: Infernal by name, intrepid by nature... The mighty Zygos takes a stand with three rather cheeky twists and flips. 'Svensk Riddim' takes a Terje-fied trip to Cuba with insatiably funky results while 'Ekte Dub' plays the consummate foil with its stripped back subs and ghostly riff. 'Waves' finishes the set with a Lafayette-a-min horn heaves and the smokiest 808 hits you've heard this side of Atlanta. XXX rated.
