After Later Audio Bartender v2 Stereo Production Mixer Module
Cat: 1087273 Rel: 06 May 25

4 channel mixer module that with two stereo aux sends and returns.
Notes: Bartender is the centerpiece of the mixer system. Four stereo channels, with two stereo aux send and two stereo returns. Each channel can be used in a mono mode where both channels are mixed. If you want to do eight channels of mono, you can put the channels in stereo mode (I know it feels backwards) and then use the pan control to control the crossfade between each channel, and then take the mono output. There is a built in cueing system so you can monitor channels in your headphones and control the blend with the main output. You can expand a Bartender with both a Barback and/or another Bartender. When connecting two Bartenders, the main level control on the 'expander' Bartender acts as a group control.

After Later Audio Brooks Thru- Zero FM Oscillator Module
Cat: 900370 Rel: 21 Sep 22

Thru-zero FM oscillator module - 4HP
Notes: Brooks is a 4hp thru zero oscillator. It still packs in a lot of features but will work better in most cases as the 2nd and/or 3rd oscillator in the system. Key features:

Thru zero FM oscillator
Tuning switch enables ranges of 0V, 3V, and 6V
Tuning knob offers 4 octave range, when coupled with the switch you get a full 10 octaves.
Both hard sync and time reverse (soft sync)

The chip used for the core of this module is the SSI2130, which has a tendency to lock up on startup when the power rails come up asymmetrically, which is most common in Intellijel power supplies. If the unit locks up on startup, just flip the LFO/VCO switch to get it behaving.

COCO - Create your Own Complex Oscillator

With COCO system the aim is to bring all the goodness of a complex oscillator while aiming to minimize some of the downsides. The main thing that I appreciate about them is that you can have a lot of fun without having to patch too much. By default, you can get some very deep sounds that go far beyond the standard bleep and bloop. On the downside, complex oscillators are big and have a fixed set of capabilities.

The COCO system allows you to choose your oscillator features and choose your control module and connect them all together into a complex oscillator. You can then break them down and each module also works as a standalone module as well. So when you need that extra oscillator for your performance case, you can break the system down and use it accordingly.

Oscillators

You can connect up to a total of three oscillators in a complete COCO system. It is recommended to have at least two or it will not be much fun as a system. The typical configuration would be having one Cascades and two Brooks.

Each oscillator in the COCO series can send and receive Exp FM, sync, and a MOD bus.

For Exp FM (v/oct) and sync, the routing is controlled by the control module via the Track and Sync switches. The exp FM routing is handy for doing chords without having to worry about copying precision voltages. Everything is internally routed with high precision op amps.

MOD wave - Each oscillator controls what it sends as a modulation wave. Cascades has a jumper on the back to change between SIN and MOR outputs, while Brooks will always send SIN. Each oscillator then has an arrow next to each jack that receives a MOD wave signal. One twist on this is that Canyon can also be configured to send it's mix output as the MOD wave to OSC1, instead of receiving from OSC2. This is because the stepped voltage patterns that come from Canyon can be quite fun to use on an oscillator!

Cascades - Cascades is the fully featured thru-zero oscillator with an octave switch, voltage-controlled wave shaping (via Morph), amplitude modulation, along with a large variety of waveform ouptuts. A notable oddity is the inclusion of the COS output, which is great for some stereo effect. The idea being that Cascades works best as a main oscillator. But you can use either oscillator in any position in the overall system.

Brooks - Brooks is a smaller thru-zero 4hp basic VCO that has all the basic waveforms, FM control, sync, and Time Reverse which simply reverses the wave. While it is a fully capable oscillator it works best as a modulation oscillator in the COCO system.

Control Modules

The control modules do two things in the system, they control the routing for the exp FM and sync, and they add either upper (Valley) or lower (Canyon) harmonics. The switches control the routing of exp FM and sync between the oscillators, while only Canyon has any mod bus controls, which is available as a jumper on the back.

Valley - Valley is a wavefolder (aka adds upper harmonics) that offers some mixing at the input, along with controls over order (number of folds) and control over even or odd harmonics (more details). This is meant to be the opposite of the grit in Dirty Laundry and aims to be a nice clean wavefolder.

Canyon - Canyon is a sub-harmonics generator (aka add lower harmonics). You can think of it as a level-controlled clock divider where each knob controls the level of a sub-division (three is 1/3, five is 1/5, etc.). You can then either output just the odds or the evens via dedicated jacks or have a crossfade between the two. The clock that is being sub-divided can be changed for the odds and evens sides independently so you can get some wonky cross modulation effects.

Everyone always loves a little dessert, and that's kinda where SUM+INV comes in. It's a little utility that is helpful in two ways for COCO. First, you can use it as a 3:1 mixer by patching the top two inputs and the bottom input. This is handy when trying to mix your three oscillator outputs. Second, it can be helpful for quadrature output with the SIN and COS feeding each channel and therefore giving you 0, 90, 180, and 270 phases.

After Later Audio Canyon Sub-Harmonics Generator Module
Cat: 900371 Rel: 20 Sep 22

Sub-harmonics generator module - 10HP
Notes: Canyon is a sub-harmonics generator with two sections fed by two different clock sources. The first section offers odd sub harmonics, dividing the clocks by 1, 3, 5, and 7. The second section offers even sub harmonics, dividing the clocks by 2, 4, 6, and 8. These two section outputs are then mixed together via a voltage controlled crossfader. The outputs can either be used in the audio range to create rich sounds or used at slower rates as CV sources, even patched back into one of the oscillators. Each side of Canyon can also be clocked independently, which can lead to some rich tones.

Note - The tracking switch is labelled backwards on Canyon so it tracks OSC2 and OSC3 in the up position.

After Later Audio Cascades Through-Zero FM Oscillator Module
Cat: 900359 Rel: 20 Sep 22

Thru-zero oscillator module - 10HP
Notes: Cascades is After Later Audio's most fully featured analogue oscillator. Some of the unique features are:

Through zero FM oscillator
Morph output with CV control to morph between TRI, SAW and PUL waves.
Octave switch to simplify tuning
Cosine output - fun for stereo - also for going full analogue quadrature with the SUM+INV module
VCO and LFO ranges
Amplitude modulation built-in with either offset or full wave rectification for the modulating wave.
Switchable mod wave output between morph out and SIN (jumper on back)

Two notes:

The COS output can only be tuned to work with either the VCO or LFO range. At the "factory", After Later Audio have tuned it for VCO usage. Stay tuned for tuning instructions if you would prefer to use it for LFO range.

The chip used for the core of this module is the SSI2130, which has a tendency to lock up on startup when the power rails come up asymmetrically, which is most common in Intellijel power supplies. If the unit does lock up on startup, just flip the LFO/VCO switch to get it behaving.

After Later Audio Cloverleaf 1U Case Jack Interface Module For Intellijel Cases With Headphone Amp
Cat: 900389 Rel: 21 Sep 22

An interface for the case 1/4" jacks in Intelljel cases
Notes: An interface for the case 1/4" jacks in Intelljel cases. The jacks are marked as if they are part of the case, so the jacks marked out, require an input.

The module sports both input and output for either a consumer line level (0.447Vpk) or a professional line level (1.095Vpk). These levels are controllable via jumper on the back of the module. It can also have a single input and output channel switched to pedal level. The case output is fed to the headphone amp that has a corresponding level control. The module otherwise does not have any level control and relies on using a VCA or other module to perform any level controls.

The module can essentially be run in one of three modes:

1) Stereo line level in and out

2) Stereo line level in and out via the left side and mono pedal in and out on the right side. In this mode the stereo line levels leverage TRS on the 1/4" jacks. You can use the included 3.5mm couplers to get TRS on the 3.5mm side.

3) Mono line level in and out via the left side and mono pedal in and out on the right side.

For Palette 64hp users only have two 1/4" jacks. You can choose if you want to use the case jacks as either inputs, outputs, or one input and one output.

After Later Audio Dirty Laundry Destructive Harmonic Generator Module
Cat: 846035 Rel: 20 Sep 21

Destructive harmonic generator module - 14HP
Notes: Dirty Laundry is a destructive harmonic generator. The FOLD side can function as a standard Buchla-inspired wave folder but then extend into chaos when you engage the pre-fold PRESS section. The Press section creates all kinds of initial harmonics that really give the Fold section something to sink its teeth into. This results in a nice range of controlled harmonics from simple fold activity to anarchy.

The Press and Fold sections can function either as two parallel sections or as single serial unit. There are crossfaders between the sections and at the end of chain to help with blending between these two distinct sections. In development I mainly use it as a serial unit as I think it's most fun that way. But I found the need to control the mixes to get what I was after, so I added some extra patch points to make it parallel capable.

The module will work well with all waveforms (speech is fun) but I often stick with sine and triangle waves as I find them the most pleasing starting point. While most folders won't work well with square waves, the RES/DRIVE circuit will cause some rippling and make the FOLD much more interesting.

After Later Audio FFS For Fuzz Sake Two Fuzz Channels Module
Cat: 1048740 Rel: 18 Oct 24

Two fuzz channels module - 10HP
Notes: Two fuzz channels based on the fuzz face circuit with a built-in pickup simulator.

Gnarly is a 7 knob beast that will destroy whatever you throw at it. It has many dead zones in the pots that will adjust based on the position of other pots. It's all about finding the sweet spots and living on those fine edges. The transistor pairs on this section are replaceable.

Oomph is a 5 knob bass friendly take on the fuzz face and compliments the upper harmonics of the Gnarly section.

Pickup simulator - Fuzz circuits offer unique sound when paired with the inductance of the pickup coils in a guitar. This why it is often suggested to have fuzz pedals as your first in a pedal chain. So After Later built-in a coil to simulate your eurorack signal being emitted by a guitar pickup. After Later also included a pickup simulator output so you can use it to interface with other fuzz instruments (pedals, modules, etc.).

As an added oddness - you can also input your guitar into the pickup sim output (just don't plug anything into the normal input). This will still get you Eurorack level output. Please don't input Eurorack levels into the pickup sim output.

Tips - Experiment with the pickup simulator and buffered signal. Use the PS.Level to keep the signal low, borderline on cutting out. You find lots of joy in the gnarly section by keeping this level at the edge.

After Later Audio Keanu Matrix Mixer & Function Generator Module
Cat: 1048727 Rel: 18 Oct 24

4x4 matrix mixer & voltage controlled amplifier module
Notes: Keanu is a partnership with Tim Held and Podular Modcast. At its core, Keanu is a standard 4x4 matrix mixer and VCAs on each output and switch to choose between unipolar or bipolar controls. After Later have also added modulation sources normalled into each channel. So you get some great modulation variety, but can also mix in your external sources.

Channels 1 & 2 CVs are clockable looping function generators with controls for rise/fall lengths, and equipped with end of rise/fall trigger outputs.

Channels 3 & 4 are each a "meandering" voltage source, created by 3 LFOs that are all at different frequencies. There are 3 CV inputs (total) to control their individual rates. You can also add slew to each channel individually to change the oscillators from square to triangle, and this slew also applies to external voltages sent into their channel.

After Later Audio Light Rail 8-Channels Audio/Modulation Over Ethernet Modules (pair)
Cat: 1048745 Rel: 18 Oct 24

8-channels audio or modulation over ethernet modules
Notes: 8 channels of audio or modulation over ethernet. There are two modules and a 3' CAT7e cable to connect them together. There are 8 total channels that are unbuffered and bi-directional. The primary usage is to connect two cases or just send a bundle of signals from one part of your larger case to another. You also get the option of buffering up to four channels on each side. This gives you a local copy of the signal and sends buffered copy to the other module, saving you from having to use a MULT to keep a local copy.

Some notes:

When one side of the Light Rail is in buffered mode, you cannot send signals from the opposite side on those 4 buffered channels (the other 4 channels can still be used in bi-directional mode)

If you are after a different longer/shorter cable, you will get the best performance with CAT7e as it offers the shielding, which is used for the ground.

While the cross channel bleed is minimal, you will notice some very minor cross talk between the channels.
