To celebrate this legacy, Fuse releases a 30-track compilation of techno's finest from around the globe. Each track represents a year, starting with Jeff Mills' iconic 'Step to Enchantment' from 1993. The compilation features legends like Planetary Assault Systems, DVS1, Steffi, Rodhad, Donato Dozzy and DJ Nobu, all of which sound superb as well as showcasing the evolution of techno. Review: Time Passages celebrates their ten years of existence with a stellar line up of artists; this is the full LP to complement a shorter EP. A fine lineup indeed! The mood on this one is decidedly hellish yet, of course, for that very reason, tempting to cop; this being the characteristic of the flagrant provenance of DJ and producer Binh, whose brand of sinister minimal techno and electro always turns up scorched, hardened into granite, by the embered airs of hardcore. The Berlin outfit welcome The Model and DJ Hell on the A1 side, with the first opening up his own private bacchanal into the hungry streets with 'Eat More House' - a motto we can really chew on - while Hell's 'Alienation' plays on similar themes, with a central acid riff and sniper clap pattern. Barnt and Bezier steer and slow the B-side to a canter, the latter especially on the low-slung, ominously new beat-inspired 'Roter Faden', while the likes of Z@p and DC Salas go on to encrust the ensuing sides with a haunted clog of synthpop and new wave judder-offs. We'll leave the rest to you.

Review: Wow. When you're writing about music releases it's often tempting to present difficult to describe tunes as unique. That's not always factually accurate, though, as is clear when you come across something like this seven-way bag of the wonderfully bizarre. Half the stuff on here, at least, really does defy categorisation, although we can probably lump it all together as experimental, industrial-leaning electronic music with avant-garde tendencies. And a libido. What that describes varies wildly. Nuke Watch's 'NWPJS Perc' interprets the term as a kind of slow build, low BPM workout made up of what could well be the noise of various tools, pipes and taps being struck. Umfang delivers a dark and menacing hip hop-electro instrumental, packed with atmosphere and pent up energy. Ana Fosca goes for shrill refrains and drones. Egg Meat serves a dominatrix of off-time weirdo-techno tones with mind melting percussive cacophonies.

Review: Outcast Planet's with outing is a serious collection of techno heat from a selection of artists each with their own sound. Bakked kicks off with the stomping, teeth grinding machine energy of 'Dentro Il Sistema' then Munir Nadir's 'Push It' takes things even more intergalactic with searching synths and futuristic grooves. Elsewhere Cristian Sarde offers chunky industrial tech with 'Technology Flot', Emanuele Montalto's 'The Electric Transformation' brings a bit of taught techno bounce and Paul Lution's 'More Than 80%' layers up vocoder vocals with retro 80s synth sounds and slap-funk drums. This is a varied collection of fresh sounds that will wrk in a wide range of settings.

Review: Dance music documentarian and DJ Matt Anniss is on a one-man mission to raise awareness of bleep techno, the sub-bass heavy style that began the UK bass music story. Review: Mama Told Ya is French DJ & producer Anetha's own record label, where for its fifth release she presents the creme de la creme of global talent. Indeed, L'eau Repousse Les Feux Agressifs covers the many shades of contemporary techno: from austere and strobe-lit warehouse bangers like that of label staple UFO95's 'Naturbath' or MDR alumnus Ryan James Ford's 'Snake Bitter' (1999 mix). X-Coast and Isabella channel the early '90s heyday of rave, on the breaks-driven energy of 'Mutation' and 'Impresia' respectively. Review: Some sonic communities grow even in isolation, in the lonely obsessive moments in the studio as time melts away. Deep inside the Detroit Underground nests a Berlin underground, chasing those resonant shared sounds. DU Berlin draws together some of that love felt through music in the German capital. It's not the wild city of reunification or *Berlin Calling* or tourist-style movies or the easyJet set. This is the side of the city that endlessly romances machines for the sheer joy of it, as The Allegorist titles her track, "until dawn." And with some big names and emerging, ranging from mainstays to veteran agitators, the Berlin DU crew have telegraphed each other through productions and mutual inspiration. There really is something for every occasion here with Casual Treatment one with some mind-melting 90s synth madness and DBFB then laying down quick, urgent and paired-back dub techno that takes you to another level. Itzaac twists squeaky synths and broad synth smears over a linear groove on 'Elasticomanae' and Stefan Vincent & Stroef aim to melt your mind with their percussive and high cerebral workout "2bm1ib1ia'. Jerome From shuts down with a more atmospheric and slower sound that provokes introspection.

It has now been doing so for 15 years and marks the occasion with a bumper triple vinyl collection featuring 13 cuts from all the label's finest associates. Review: Did you know that Iceland had its own rather influential rave scene back in the 1990s? Whatever the answer to that question, you will want to check out this first-ever collection of anthems from that era which is now on vinyl for the first time. This collection came on Thule offshoot label TMT Entertainment as a CD in 1992 and features memorable and timeless tracks from back then, many of them now with cult status. It's called Alsaela, which translates as "ecstasy" and gives you some idea of what to expect from it. It features a non-stop selection of old school rave alongside some lost and previously unavailable classics by Agzilla & DJ L.S.K and some unreleased gems from AJAX. A great bit of history that still does the trick.

Review: Those who know, know how strong the Dutch electro scene has been since the early 90s and Netherlands label BAKK has a special compilation here with many excellent electro tracks to enjoy - no less than 11 tunes in total, spread across three pieces of wax. The list of artists is impressive, from Legowelt, Antenna, SFV Acid and more. This pack starts off with a stunner called 'Bos Ochtendmist' by Legowelt, a phased out and radiant futuristic theme song that's just downright beautiful! Rather than imitating any other city's history of the style's, these artists have their own style - see Aurora Halal's 'Spiral' as a great example, or Sfv Acid 's 'Urbanfury' which adds some nice IDM influences. The slow and deep bass on Tala Drum Corps's 'Gargoyle' is killer too. An early candidate for best electro comp of the year 2024.
