Tough Girl
Review: ***B-STOCK: Sleeve damaged but otherwise in excellent condition***

Reissue kings ZYX have nailed it again with this revisit of an Italo dance rarity from 1994. Martine's single is a fiery anthem of resilience and empowerment that blends sharp, infectious melodies with bold and defiant lyrics, all while showing Martine's dynamic vocal range and fierceness. It exudes confidence and is about channelling the strength to overcome challenges while embracing individuality and the production amplifies that with its slick melodies driven by punchy guitars and an anthemic rhythm that perfectly complements the song's empowering theme.

Disclosures (feat Voiron - G303 Acid remix) (6:32)
Review: The French duo Minimum Syndicat land on Dutch label Zodiak Commune with a double-barrelled dose of mind-altering machine funk. 'Knowing That We Know Nothing' opens with a cold-blooded electro crawl, all dystopian pads and twitchy circuitry, while the G303 remix rips it wide open with slamming kicks and acid phrases that slither like live wires. On the flip, 'Disclosures' ups the BPMs in collaboration with fellow Parisian Voiron, its militant acid techno groove sharpened into a peak-time burner. G303 returns to mutate that track too, saturating it in overdriven 303 squelch and off-grid snare flurries. Raw, unrelenting and brilliantly engineered i this is the kind of record that weaponises philosophy for the dancefloor.

Love Gun was certified platinum on June 30, 1977. This iconic artwork is now available as a 500 piece jigsaw puzzle printed on high quality board.

I Love Rock & Roll (feat The Sex Pistols) (2:31)
Bad Reputation (feat Pat Smear) (2:55)
Review: Few artists embody rock 'n' roll's rebellious spirit like Joan Jett. From her early days with The Runaways to fronting the Blackhearts, her blend of punk attitude and stadium-sized hooks reshaped rock history. 'I Love Rock & Roll' became an era-defining anthem, while 'Bad Reputation' cemented her status as an uncompromising trailblazer. This 40th-anniversary edition sees Jett revisit these classics with The Sex Pistols and Germs/Nirvana man Pat Smear, two figures whose own punk legacies align perfectly with her fearless approach. Still as electrifying as ever, Jett's influence echoes through generations, proving rock 'n' roll will never die - if anything, it only gets louder.

They Live (main Theme) (3:33)
Review: The Expanded Edition of Alan Howarth's They Live brings new life to the cult classic 1988 film's soundtrack. Howarth is well respected, not least for his collaborations with John Carpenter, and here captures the film's eerie tension and anti-consumerist themes with moody synths, bluesy motifs and minimalist sound design that is always hugely evocative. This expanded edition offers remastered audio and additional cues that heighten the mood and deepen the atmosphere. The music's hypnotic, slow-burning energy perfectly mirrors the paranoia and grit of the movie, so it's a landmark score in sci-fi and horror soundtracks.

Review: This isn't an EP of house tracks crafted in the mid 1990s by the late member of the royal family, but rather a dive into the back catalogue of New Jersey producer Heeley Calator of SMACK Productions fame. In keeping with much of Heeley's work, the four tracks on show (all originally released in 1994) are undeniably X-rated and full of sexually-charged vocals. Check first the 'Instru-Beat' mix of 'Whose Dick Is This', a rolling, low-slung and lightly soulful garage-house workout, before admiring the warmer, dreamier and jazzier 'What's My Name (The Tribe & Friends Mix)'. Over on the flip, WOLF has served up two takes on 'Big Dick - Mutha F*cka': the percussively dense, organ-rich New Jersey garage heaviness of the 'Sample Mix' and the stripped-back tribal house headiness of the 'Drum Mix'.

WMD PM Channels MKII 4-Channel Mixer Module
Cat: 1021196 Rel: 22 May 25 • View all Synth modules

4-channel mixer module - 24HP
Notes: Upgraded version of WMD's excellent performance mixer module, the PM MKII features four stereo or dual mono channels, CV control of levels, panning and aux sends, plus soft mutes per channel.

Supplier's Notes:
Need More Inputs?

Add four channels at a time to your Performance Mixer MKII setup, or you can use the Channels MKII as a standalone four channel mixer.

The expansion is simple -- identical channels, just more of them. Four at a time, up to four Channels units, for 24 total stereo channels.

A simple 16 pin 2mm pitch expansion cable is provided and is the only connection necessary. Units can be daisy-chained easily resulting in a clean setup.

Additionally, the outputs on Channels MKII still work when connected to the PM MKII. So you get a submix of AUX1, AUX2, and MIX available for whatever you may want to do, drum submixing, FX routing, etc.

Not Just an Expansion -- Standalone Operation
As a standalone unit, you get three stereo outputs, MIX, AUX1, AUX2. The buttons are soft mutes. It's a robust four channel setup.

FYI -- You can not connect CHANNELS MKIIs together without a PM MKII. The summing, buttons, and control brain is in the master section of the PM MKII.

Recording Outputs:

Pre and Post fade headers are available on the rear for connection to the DB25 MKII. Each Chanels MKII will fill 1/2 of a DB25 with the Pre or Post connections.

Specifications:

24HP
36mm Depth behind Panel Including Cables
Board Height Between Rails 111.5mm
Channel Input Gain: -12dB to +20dB
Fader Gain: -100dB to +5dB (Applies to Aux1, Aux2 also)
Pan Curve: -100dB at Hard L/R, -3dB at Center

Review: Luniwaz LIVE is the sound of Scott Kinsey paying tribute to Joe Zawinul and Weather Report, not by basic imitation, but through fearless reinvention. The album was recorded live in Prague and brings Zawinul's spirit to life with raw energy and deep improvisation alongside Kinsey's seasoned rhythm section. As part of that, Hadrien Feraud and Gergo Borlai join forces with rising saxophonist Patrick Bartley Jr to blend jazz mastery with modern flair alongside guest appearances from Pedro Martins, Meredith Salimbeni and Bobby Thomas Jr, who further elevate the sound. Far from an exercise in nostalgia, this is a great reimagining of a jazz legacy.

Review: Bassist and composer Joe Sanders shows he is unafraid to explore every side of his artistry with his new, genre-blurring album Parallels. It is a mix of live recordings with Seamus Blake, Logan Richardson and Gregory Hutchinson and dreamy, studio-crafted pieces with Jure Pukl and Taylor Eigsti that, between them, bridge signature East Coast grit and famous West Coast introspection. From intimate family moments to lush Italo-disco textures, Sanders threads his acoustic and electronic sensibilities into a cohesive overall listen that has plenty of fearless jazz exploration, deep groove and all-important emotional nuance. It is the sound of a musician at the height of his creative powers who is as curious as he is versatile.

Review: Wewantsounds continues its deep dive into Algerian music with the first-ever reissue of Les Abranis' sought-after-by-those-who-know 1983 long player, Album No. 1. Originally recorded in Paris and privately pressed in small quantities, the album, which is also known as Id Ed Was, fuses Kabyle rhythms with funk and touches of reggae. This reissue has been curated by Cheb Gero (of recent Sweet Rebels compiling fame) and features remastered audio, though it retains the original artwork. It's a great line document of Algeria's diasporic groove with a two-page insert featuring fresh liner notes by journalist Rabah Mezouane.

The landmark Jazz Issue features on the front the classic Blue Train photo of John Coltrane, uncropped, and on the back, trumpet star Freddie Hubbard from his CTI heyday. Sound Synthesis - "Feeling Lost" (4:35)
Review: Promising/Youngster and Sound Synthesis take charge of one side each of this new outing from Maltease label Wave Modulation Series. Lush, high-grade electro is the order of the day and 'Eleoky' soon sweeps you off your feet and up amongst astral motifs where the zippy synths provide the movement. 'Theryneas' has an organic piano line to offset the synthetic synths and corrugated rhythms, then 'Wunterbow' cuts loose with spiralling synth arcs and kaleidoscopic colours. On the flip, Sound Synthesis goes more direct with zippy electro rhythms on 'Nature Of The Dreamer' and serene acid on 'Tifkira', before a closer full of lament sends you off wanting more.

Review: New heat from Datawave is always going to be worth tuning into, and so it proves with this new one on Wave Function. His signature fusion of dreamy synthscapes and kinetic rhythms shines bright from the off with 'Hyperborea' soothing mind and soul while the body shifts its behind. 'Dawnlights' has lazy acid modulations drifting between the slower beats, then 'Drifting' is as hopeful as the dawn of a new day with it arching chords and celestial synth twinkles. 'Aquila' has a more pronounced broken beat pattern and prying bass, but still plenty of deft melodies, and 'Landscapes' is a dubbed-out thinker.

Review: With the untimely and tragic passing of Chester Bennington in 2017, it was the natural presumption that Californian nu-metal turned alt rock megastars Linkin Park would cease to exist. Surprising their avid fanbase by announcing news of their reformation with Dead Sara vocalist Emily Armstrong, as well as new drummer Colin Brittain (Rob Bourdain opted not to join the reunion), From Zero offers a nod to their original band name Xero whilst simultaneously ushering in their new era. Sonically, the band are doing their utmost to both pay credence to their heavier origins while naturally rerouting towards their newfound vision. Serving as follow up to 2017's pop-oriented and critically panned One More Light, the understandable decision to re-embrace aspects of their nu-metal motifs is commendable, whilst modifying and building upon their past sonics to craft comfortable musical bedrock for the new voice of their band. Comparing to prior albums may be inescapable for diehard fans with the material owing humble countenance to the Linkin Park of yesteryear, while this deluxe edition expands upon the original version's somewhat succinct (or rushed) 11 tracks over 30 minutes with an additional three bonus cuts as well as five live versions.
