&ME & Black Coffee - "The Rapture Pt III" (8:06)
&ME - "LIFE" (7:35)
Review: &Me and Black Coffee make for something of an Afro house dream team here. The latter has long been this sound's pin-up and has gone from playing in South African townships to producing with Beyonce and winning Grammy Awards over the last decade. Now deep in his latest Ibiza season, he unveils collaborative track 'The Rapture' (Pt III), a deep rolling cut with spine-tingling chords and a rich atmosphere. &ME then goes solo for 'LIFE', a shuffling percussive groove with spoken words and enchanting chords to make for a classy two-tracker.

Delta T (6:10)
Mid Valley (7:58)
Samo (6:20)
Review: Back in January, &On&On (a DJ/production duo comprised of Noni and Worth Way) were named by DJ magazine as 'ones to watch' in 2022. It's taken them the best part of the year to deliver on that promise, but the pair's Lost Palms debut - their first 12-inch of the year - is packed to the rafters with quietly impressive fare. For proof, check opener 'All Day', a tactile and gently warming blend of deep chords, techno synths and swinging, garage-influenced house beats, before basking in the wide-eyed breakdowns and classic-sounding deep house grooves of 'Melted'. Elsewhere, 'Delta T' is a wonderfully sub-heavy chunk of breakbeat techno headiness, 'Mid Valley' is a sparse, stripped-back, electro influnenced roller and 'Samo' is a psychedelic techno shuffler.

Big Joint (6:18)
Trent (6:51)
Beek (6:55)
Review: As his artist alias suggests, 100HZ has a great knack for making brain tingling frequencies that permeate deep into your psyche. 'Big Joint' manages to be brilliantly deep and rich in its make up despite being relatively sparse. Distant pads swarm like midges round a rubbery bassline and delicate percussion. 'Trent' - which may or may not be a reference to deep house don Ron Trent - has a late night sense of menace to the prying chords and icy, prickly drums and 'Beek' is perfect dead of night house music that demands you zone in on the little details and get utterly lost in the moment. Superb.

Bassy Bits (5:36)
Lick My Chain (4:44)
Lick My Chain (PSL remix) (5:56)
Review: A solid four track EP on Step Ball Chain records blending minimal and tech house with a splash of techno. offering a diverse range of sounds for late-night dancefloors. Side-1 starts with 'Do U Want Me', a playful peak-time house track filled with nostalgic old-school samples and a serious grooveiperfect for keeping the energy up during those late-night sets. It's followed by 'Make Me', which shifts gears into a dubby mix of dubstep and liquid drum 'n' bass, offering a bass-heavy, laid-back vibe. On Side-2, 'Bassy Bits' drives things forward with its fast-paced tech house beats and dirty bassline, making it a DJ-friendly gem designed to shake the dancefloor. Then there's 'Lick My Chain', a deeper, moodier track with a wall-shaking bassline and a futuristic, sensual atmosphereia slick, immersive cut for those looking to bring the energy down but keep the intensity up. Rounding off the EP is the 'Lick My Chain' (PSL remix), which adds a techy edge and a sexy vocal, transforming the track into a late-night anthem. Overall, Step Ball Chain Holland is a versatile release for tech house and electro fans alike.

Sweat Box
The Ace Of Spades
Acid Planes
Review: Detroit's James T. Cotton and D'Marc Cantu are back with Part 2 of their dark acid collaboration as 2 AM/FM. Ramping up the jacking rhythms of their first 12", the duo works from a distinctly old school percussive palette to craft the propulsive backbeat of "Sweatbox" and the massive groove of "Ace Of Spades." The epic "Acid Planes" is an exercise in polyrhythmic permutation with the potential to take the entire dancefloor captive for its 13-minute duration. Continuing to earn their place amidst the heroes of the hugely influential Chicago acid house scene, 2 AM/FM make another stunningly strong case for the genre's vitality.

Em Potz (Third Trax)
Review: The Vil label kicks off with a masterful reissue of a classic EP from 1993. 3 of Us was a trance and house project from an Italian collective made of F. Conti, Gianluca Rastelli and Marco Cucchia. They dropped only five EPs between 1993 and 1999 with this being the pick of the bunch. It hits the perfect sweet spot between the driving of hypnotic techno, the melodies of trance and the dreaminess inherent to much Italo music. Track one is a dark but smooth roller, the second has a stomping tech house energy to it and the third asnd fourth close out the EP with two more edgy techno stylers that bring old school cool to any club.

Moon (4:51)
Other Edge (4:48)
Magic Edge (5:26)
Stash (4:12)
Review: CFRT's fourth release features early productions from Sven Rohrig under his acclaimed techno and house alias, 3 Phase. These tracks were originally released on Push back in 1996 and offer a window into his innovative approach, even though he was in his formative years. All these decades on, they still bang. 'Moon' is textured, edgy techno with restless drum rhythms and metallic percussive sounds, 'Other Edge' is a psyched-out number with bleeping melodies and thudding drums and 'Magic Edge' strips tings back to deep, pulsing bass, lashings of synth detail and a paranoid mood while 'Stash' shuts down with more slow motion sounds for the post-rave comedown.

Selador Decade Vol 1
3D & Robert Owens - "Known Love" (7:51)
Olivier Giacomotto & Quivver - "Snailblazer" (6:40)
Dave Seaman & Hernan Cattaneo - "Napkin Knowledge" (7:28)
Argia & Jepe - "Salitre" (7:38)
Review: In celebration of their tenth birthday, Selador marks the occasion in style with a four-track collaborative EP, featuring tracks from 3D, Robert Owens, Olivier Giacomotto, Quivver, Dave Seaman, Hernan Cattaneo, Argia, and Jepe. The opening track, 'Known Love', is a deep, pulasting house tune that feels like an instant classic, perhaps thanks to the soulful, pop-tinged vocals - think LCD soundsystem meets Four Tet. 'Snailblazer', the second track on the EP, takes a much darker turn, with a chugging, EBM-esque feel. Full-bodied and complete with obscured vocals, this is the kind of track to pull out your bag when it's time to really get stuck in. On the B-side, 'Napkin Knowledge' draws on the glistening synths of eurodance, yet still securing the melodies to a grounded bassline and rhythm section. 'Salitre' is the perfect closing track, rising up in a gleaming, ecstatic melody, before delicately returning to ground level. A varied yet firmly cohesive collaborative release - the perfect way for Selador to kick off their 2023 catalogue.

Dream Flight EP

Mittoo Palms (16:16)
Soft August Rain (10:03)
Dream Flight (6:38)
Review: The all-new Dream Flight label embarks on its first voyage here and it does so in some style. 4:32AM - heavily associated with the Palace Vinyl shop in south London - is presumably named after that specific time in the night when only the deepest and most heady vibes will do, and that's exactly what we get here with 'Mitt Palms'. It's a delightful work of delicate and quiet deep house artistry with ambient pads and dreamy drums. 'Soft August Rain' is just as heady but brings some soft acid magic to the dusty beats and last of all 'Dream Flight' shows off some suburb drum programming with jostling broken beats and woody hits softened by smeared and painterly pads.

Ode To Tariq (4:02)
Review: 4:32am is a very precise time but one of the best for late night party animals. It's late enough to be getting weird but not so late as to be worried about the day after the night before. It is also an alias of an elusive producer who has cooked up these four fantastic jams during live sessions in his South London studio at the infamous Palace Vinyl. They are all deep and mysterious cuts with thudding kicks and eerie pads, intricate melodies and just the right mix of drive and atmosphere - perfect, then, for around 4:32 am.

Stupidity (6:15)
Quantum Theory (6:46)
World In Our Head (7:08)
Sowie Lockers (5:46)
Review: Humanoid Recordings co-founder 4d lays down another four-track 12" for the label, scouring the weightier and scrapier ends of minimal and acid house, all while teasing out a retro-robotic edge. Only an artist with a real sense of humour can invoke ideas of 'Stupidity' and 'Quantum Theory' in the same breath; both tracks betray the unified whimsy and intelligence that a successful acid house and techno artist must portray in order to win hearts. The latter uses a particularly sticky, hard-to-pin-down 4x4 kick style; contrast to B1 'World In Our Head', which portrays a psychic model of the outside world through trilling trance lines, and the meek glissandos of 'Sowie Lockers', securing an indeterminate but funky mood.

Review: A For Alpha makes a brilliant release debut here on the hardline label and showcases a superb take on sexy, effective tech house. 'Dee Lite' has a slinky garage feel to the drums while molten acid-laced synths unfurl up top to keep things loose. 'Dark Bongos (I Believe)' is darker and more direct but with plenty of playfulness in the trippy and well-treated vocal stabs. 'Let Me Hear Ya' keeps it deep and mid-tempo with more killer bass and 'Delta' shuts down with gloppy sounds, shuffling beats and a cosmic edge.

Dancing On Soft Borders (3:56)
RIYL Failures (9:32)
Review: While the name may be new, A New Line (Related) is supposedly the work of an already established musician, although Kimochi was never a label that cared about hype. The music stands just fine on its own, digging into the kind of dusty and dusky house and techno formations that the label has forged its hand-sprayed identity on. There's plenty of ambient techno twirls to be enjoyed on the likes of "Dancing On Soft Borders", while the beats melt away entirely on "After A Short Illness" and grandiose EP closer "RIYL Failures". Once again Kimochi comes up with the kind of meaningful variations on the 4/4 framework that keep our record bags full and our souls enriched.

About Time (6:57)

Receiver (14:37)
Review: There is no shortage of top labels to come out of Romania that deal in futuristic tech and minimal house fusions. Draganenii is one of the newer ones but one that is already making its own name. A R steps up with the imprint's fourth EP here and it kicks off with the clipped, punchy house of 'About Time' complete with late-night chords and prickly percussion. After that heavy stomper comes the more floating acid modulations and cosmic house of 'About Time', then 'Receiver' shuts down with wonky lines, gurgling bass and a trippy energy.

Rocket No 3 (feat Jan Delay) (3:59)
Rocket No 3 (version) (3:59)
Review: Back in the early 2000s, Stefan Schwander (better known these days for his Harmonious Thelonious project) released a handful of fine 12" singles as A Rocket In Dub that successfully blurred the boundaries between minimal house and dub techno. Here, one of the series' most renowned cuts, 'Rocket No. 3', is revisited. Like the 2002 original mix, the A-side version is a hypnotic, softly spun delight, with echoing organ motifs, bubbly electronics, opaque synth sounds and new spoken word snippets (provided by fellow German artist Jan Delay) gently rising above a deep, dubby bassline and sparse, shuffling tech-house beats. Over on the flip, there's a dub style 'Version' mix that takes the track further into vintage Rhythm & Sound territory.

Gone Full Circle (7:14)
Review: Oslo's A:G has been doing his thing successfully for some time, side-stepping expectations of music from his home city by delivering music that's frequently heavier and more mind-mangling. Here the Norwegian delivers the debut release of a new label, Nocturnal Expeditions, beginning with the restless acid lines, deep bass, vintage progressive house motifs and semi-bleeping lead lines of 'Beyond The Veil'. He opts for more stomping beats and LFO-inspired bass on the similarly psychedelic 'Patient Paradox', before reaching for rave piano stabs on the nostalgic excellence of 'First of 22'. Best of all, though, is closing cut 'Gone Full Circle', where ethereal melodiesm spacey pads and squelchy TB-303 tweaks ride a psychedelic house groove.

Review: A&A aka Anton Kubikov and Artem Rudakov, share a groovy, Detroit-influenced casualiser of an EP, bouncing between slipstreams of rubbery bass and slick, soulful chord voicings. Whatever said "blue transfer box" is, we're unsure whether it's wise to ask what exactly said box is transferring, or simply leave the mystery be. After all, it sounds great. And besides, we've also a 'Slow Disco Smoke Machine' to marvel at, one which wafts effortlessly between dreamboats of blue pad smoke and acidic stabs, facilitating the necessary headspace for 'Deep Thought'.

Swathe (6:04)
Review: A1 Bassline man Christian Viers stepped up to deliver a debut album earlier this year in the shape of Technicality, issued through Shadow Child and Kry Wolf's Food Music and a fine addition to his discography following several years' worth of 12" releases. Those fans of vinyl clamouring for cuts from the album in a physical format will be heartened to see four highlights gathered here on a belated 12" addendum. It's full on club tackle from the off, with "Odd Soulz" shuffling drums, resonant lead synth and killer 808 hats an obvious track to include on this 12". "Reinforced Texture" is possibly a homage to the iconic breakbeat crew Reinforced Records, and a fine one at that, whilst Viers's undeniable production diversity is apparent on the B side that swings from a classic house flavour to some sweet acid.

Review: Planet Orange Records' fifth release is a four-tracker from the legendary minds behind Alien Recordings, aka A2 and Stopouts, who take one side each. From the opening moments, the Beyonders EP weaves a thread between the halcyon days of tech and minimal from the 90s but with forward-thinking energy. A²'s 'Glider' is a happy, piano-laced celebration to start with ,then 'Let's Get It Together' cuts loose with lithe pads and more mid-tempo drums. Stopouts steep up for the flip and soon melts the mind with some tightly woven acid and cosmic tech on 'Sin City' and 'Kartwheel' then brings a more freewheeling and loopy groove with some neon colours dripping down its face.

Mikasa starts with this lush and lithe prog house EP from Abdul Raeva. Stylish opener 'Cream' is a bouncy, feel-good and sleek electronic house sound for peak time fun. 'Helico' is laced with acid and 'Tex Mex' has psyched-out lines rising through the uplifting drums while 'Vanguard' shuts down with a percussive edge and a killer bassline.

Packed with weird names like 'Ooga Booga Acid Time' and 'Karima's Duff Duff', it's evident that humour is central to the practice of releasing duo Abdul Raeva (real names Joonas Arro, Steffan Todorovic) who've been releasing since 2020 but not defined themselves quite so intently just yet. That changes with this EP, which charts four warp-driven space jams of sidereal proportions.

Side-1 kicks off with 'Spazza', a lively, upbeat tech house track primed for the dancefloor with an infectious groove. It's followed by 'Eurotech', which brings in a high-tech, acid-tinged vibe, nodding to the ravey energy of the 90s with an irresistible, driving beat. Side-2 transitions to a more introspective energy with 'Phaselock', a melodic and flighty piece that leans into late-night techno territory, with a hypnotic, trance-adjacent sound perfect for deeper, immersive moments. Closing the EP, 'Crystal Palace' dives into heavy acid rhythms, blending elements of acid trance to create a powerful, pulsing finish.

Abdul Raeva - "Grace" (6:11)
Gene Tellem - "Nervous Planet" (5:36)
Nesa Azadikhah - "Fleeting Emotions" (5:45)
Alien D - "Heavy Cream" (6:31)
Review: It's time to take your first steps into the Kulture Galerie, a new label that kicks off with a various artists offering which lays out is sonic mission in clear and compelling terms. This new venture from Metropolitan Soul Museum kicks off with the super fluid and liquid house sounds of Abdul Raeva's 'Grace' before Gene Tellem's 'Nervous Planet' gets all misty eyed and downtempo with a lush deep thinker. Nesa Azadikhah's 'Fleeting Emotions' then sets off a nice minimal vibe that is super warm and fuzzy and Alien D's 'Heavy Cream' is a float, breakbeat driven post-rave comedown.

MLM & Max Cohle - "Contraste" (Anjou mix) (7:17)
Ginko - "Hors Serie" (6:06)
Review: La Menace is a shadowy collective hailing from France committed to the craft of minimal tech house, with the focus squarely on the tunes on a series of various artist releases. This time around, the proceedings get going in fizzy, freakout style with Abdul Raeva's proggy stormer 'Concorde', while Ginko locks into a slender beat construction on 'Jungle Palazzo'. Takadoum creates an emotive strain of acid on 'Boulevard Hofmann' and MLM & Max Cohle get one of those groovesome, subby basslines rolling on the guaranteed floor worker 'Contraste (Anjou Mix)'. Ginko returns to close the EP out with the sparkling, shimmering splendour of lightly breakbeat-powered joint 'Hors Serie'.

Raie Gina (7:34)
Nibar Kills (7:41)
Sam Dredi (9:00)
Raie Gina (Ben Verden remix) (6:29)
Review: Minibar continues to represent a high watermark in the minimal scene, staying true to a knotty, freaky sound which has subtly evolved over time but remains faithful to the innovation in the scene in the mid 00s. On this new release, Abe & Praymond team up to explore some insistent, hiccupping grooves with Minibar's DNA etched deep. There's a woozy quality to 'Raie Gina' which contrasts with the snaking, crooked beat, while 'Nibar Kills' taps into a cosy after hours vibe not a million miles from the oddball brilliance of the old Boogizm records. 'Sam Dredi' is a more purely stripped down affair, while scene stalwart Ben Vedren remixes 'Raie Gina' and gives it a cool and deadly shuffle.

Basic Roots

Tap Order
Black Funk Hi
Review: Ovum cull four tracks from Shlomi Aber's new album Chicago Days, Detroit Nights for this heavyweight double pack vinyl release. Taking its cue from the album title all four tracks come steeped in the vintage sonics of the two cities with the unrelenting throb of "Basic Roots" a nice contrast to melodic techno bliss of "Taped & Gorgeous". On the second slab, Aber displays his talent for drum programming on the raw energy of "Tap Order" whilst "Black Funk Hi" delights in the filtered usage of a heavily compressed vocal sample.

Review: The Abstract Eye aka Gifted & Blessed always makes electrifying music that brims and bristles with energy. It is dense and textural and requires close attention to unpack and get lost in but that effort is always more than repaid. This is another brilliantly heavy outing, a first on Technoindigenous, that makes great use of one of the most legendary bits of gear in any studio - the TR-909, Here the artist finds new ways to make it sing with acid-laced house, clattering percussion and cosmic synth work that will rewire your brain.
