Review: The next airdrop from the good ship Constant Black is a various artists affair with four tracks from four artists guaranteed to find a home in your extended micro sesh. Pascal Benjamin takes the lead with "Falkhill", locking into a Romanian-flavoured minimal breaks formation that rolls in resplendent fashion with a particularly choice vocal lick from an undisclosed RnB track. Michael James and Benjamin Joseph nudge the pitch fader up and dial in the swing for the decidedly funky wiggler "The Island", and TIJN keeps things bumping but works in some sharper drum sounds for the tough but bouncy "Maybe". Nick Beringer finishes the record off with the chunky funk of "Nyx", calling to mind Mike Shannon amongst others.

Review: We might all be locked at home with no prospect of any serious dancefloor action before the end of the year, but when we do get allowed out again, boy will there be plenty of high grade weaponry for DJs to choose from. Aesthetic's 14th EP is one such offering, with four artists all serving up one tech house track each. And what good stuff it is too, with Gruia keeping it light and airy but locked to supple beat, and Ciphr inviting us deep down into a dubby, stripped back cavern of deft sound design and lovely wooden hits. On the back side is Benjamin Joseph's more urgent and direct 'Vice' and a mind melting number from Rodrigo that bends space and time.

Review: Label boss Ben Jones steps up to curate the third outing on Before. It finds him working with Benjamin Joseph on opener 'Soothe', a stripped-back and warm house roller with crisp hits. Robert James then remixes with a more broken vibe and old-school baselines. On the flip, James then steps up with 'Dmode' with its a punchy cut with drilling bass and tripped-out effects. Ben Jones & Benjamin Joseph then return the remix favour with their own take on 'Dmode'. It's darker and more heads down, with silky synths and plenty of late-night intrigue keeping you locked.

Review: Here comes a bit of hilariously slippery tech house by four artists coming head-to-head in what can only be described as a Mexican standoff set to wax. All associates of the UK's Before Records imprint, no punches are pulled in this subdued, techy and head-nodding poker-haul. Ben Joseph's 'Licked' is an offbeat swing secretion touching on speed garage sweats, while smoother, trancier tones are checked off from Cooper Dodge and Julian Anthony on their tracks 'Adt' and 'Retrograde'. Kicking off the whole thing is Ben Jones' clacking, knocking track 'Playback', cleverly titled in that it predicts what we'll be doing with it.
