Together, these works span four slabs of wax and offer a profound exploration of ambient soundscapes that honour the original while also presenting some fresh, emotive perspectives. Review: Body Of Light are brotherly duo Alex and Andrew Jarson from Arizona, but you'd be forgiven for thinking they were from the mid 80s the way they nail the sound of heavy-hearted synth-pop and new wave. This new album was written in the wake of 2019's Time To Kill, and it arrives ten years into their career. The maturity in the music shines through, not least in the voluptuous instrumental parts - just listen to the bass slinking around 'Never Ever' and you'll hear what we mean. If you like your synth-pop shot through with a seductive darkness, this album has more than enough to whet your appetite.

Review: Romanian producer and DJ Miruna Boruzescu aka Borusiade has always dealt in brilliantly futuristic sounds that are both austere yet hypnotic. Now they're back on Dark Entries with third full length THE FALL: A Series of Documented Experiences after many great outings on the likes of Comeme, Pinkman and Cititrax. This latest work explores memory and embodiment through nine moody tracks that blend melancholic synths, deep basslines and powerful drums into introspective soundscapes that muse on love and loss. We're told that 'Save Me' and 'The Fall' are born from heartbreak but distil pain into something beautiful while tributes to artists like Porn Darsteller and Genesis P-Orridge also appear in this fantastically personal album.

Review: Boy Harsher's second album delves into the shadowy realms of minimal wave, weaving stark synths and propulsive rhythms into a haunting tapestry. Tracks like 'Face the Fire' and 'Fate' showcase the duo's ability to craft dancefloor-ready beats infused with a brooding intensity. The lo-fi production evokes a sense of icy detachment, yet there's an underlying warmth in Jae Matthews' vocals that adds depth to the coldwave aesthetic. While some ambient interludes may feel less impactful, the album's cohesive atmosphere and emotive undercurrents make it a compelling listen for those drawn to the darker side of electronic music.

Review: Boytronic emerged in the early 80s in Hamburg. The group was founded by Holger Wobker (aka Bryllyant Berger) and Peter Sawatzki and they were initially producing soundtracks for seedy Hamburg sex shows as Kapitan Sehnsucht but soon shifted focus to pop music as Boytronic. Their debut single, 'You,' was influenced by New Order and Patrick Cowley and gained traction after a German TV performance so sold 80,000 copies in its first week and reached #10 on the charts. This success led to their debut album The Working Model. It was recorded in just 14 days in 1983 and is now a techno-pop classic that makes a welcome return here.

Review: Broken English Club is the alias of techno veteran Oliver Ho and here he explores his signature industrial wave and post-punk sound with unflinching intensity as he lands on Dekmantel's UFO Series with Songs Of Love And Decay. It is a raw, brooding album dedicated to the late Juan Mendez aka Silent Servant with tracks like 'Crawling' and 'Death Cult' echoing his tribal techno roots. 'England Heretic' meanwhile channels eerie synthwave and Giallo vibes and 'Vessel Of Skin' delves into distortion-laced post-punk that contrasts with the stark futurism of 'Pacific Island Kill.' Ho blends cinematic textures with club energy throughout so makes for a dark, emotionally charged tribute that pushes beyond typical boundaries and is sure to resonate in the club.

Review: Born and raised in Bern, Switzerland, Michael Antener spent most of the 1980s concerned with interpreting the subconsciously and overtly apocalyptic discourse of that time through the medium of industrial-edged, dark feeling music. "I found a niche where I could express myself, along with other people who were not afraid of dark themes," he's quoted as saying in retrospect, before going on to explain that singing about love would have been more difficult than using "cries of pain taken from horror movies". This triple vinyl collector's item celebrates that fertile, if angry and dystopian period in Antener's life. Bringing together work from two of his formative projects, The Stranger of the Swamp and Bande Berne Crematoire, what's here is captivating. Electroclash with groove, distressed collages of noise, a certain sense of sonic expressionism - all brooding shadows, menacing arrangements and deeply unsettling moods.
