Polygonia - "Track 1"
Jichael Mackson - "A Nice One"
Facta & K-LONE - "Each Story"
Sub Basics - "Oasis"
Lurka - "Swirl"
RRoxymore - "Nightbite"
Review: With Pattern Gardening, London-after-Leeds imprint Wisdom Teeth yank out an extra gnasher we didn't know we had. As has always been the case, label heads Facta and K-Lone could be said to have curated and curetted a new compilation from the joint dentist's chair, exacting a 22-track root canal with periodontal precision, nearly doubling the size of their V/A ambit since 2024's Club Moss. But on this selective six-track sampler for wax, we've only a further sanding down of a much larger minimal, micro and tech house selection; here's gummy textures and maxillary moods by Polygonia, rRoxymore, Lurka, Sub Basics, and newcomer Jichael Mackson. Clarity and sound design are top priorities, as is the ideal of whitened teeth flashed by the poolside. Snappy, Rhodesy, watery.

More Water
Review: Fuss and fluff are thrown by the wayside on 'More Water', hearing Sub Basics (Tom Wood) and Witch Trials (formerly of the label MYRYRS) join forces for a new collaboration on Temple Of Sound. Sleek, unfussy dub techno, and yet still unafraid of wetness past the knees, the likes of 'November', 'Technique' and 'Liquify' are seriously well simmered slammers, their projectile chords and wide multichannel drums lending themselves a firmer than firm sectional density, with a mean hardness rivalling that of chromium. Only the B-side dares step into ricketier territory, with '4AM' and 'Morning Meltdown' increasingly conveying that hanging-by-a-thread feeling all to familiar to the early hours floor fiends among us.

Review: ***B-STOCK: Sleeve damaged but otherwise in excellent condition***

London-based Osmura is back with a second outing, this time with Sub Basics at the buttons. Across four fresh tunes, he offers up his vision of techno starting with the dubby and liquid rhythms of sub-aquatic opener 'Colour.' There is more intensity to the silky rhythms and loopy percussion of 'Scope' while 'Splinter' is slower, deeper, and more menacing with searching synth leads. 'Nt' closes out with more weighty and dubby low ends, watery synth sounds and cavernous sound that is rich and immersive.

Deep Dubstep
Observatory (7:56)
Junction (5:08)
Bunker (6:02)
Quantum Zone (5:09)
Review: It's sleepy liminal steppers' zones aplenty on Sub Basics' latest full-length for Temple Of Sound, Rooms In Time-Space. As if imagining a purely abstract, extremophilic lifeworld, seed-generated for the pure purpose of headnodding, the latest incarnation of Sub Basics' enduring dubstep sound reflects the artist's unyielding exploration of a certain form, in thrall to which one simply cannot go wrong, provided one has mastered it. With its considered track titles like 'Basement', 'Wilderness', 'Quantum Zone', 'Observatory', 'Nonlinear' and 'Tangent', a detached, stoic, hard-scientific mood is evoked throughout, as if to liken the art of dubstep that of an oblique graphical process, void of emotive distortions. But that's just the front face of the project; deeper listens reveal an abiding humanity behind the beats, an aspect of our being that never tires of such driving broken propulsions, such immersive post-blast movements.

Sub Basics - "Mediterranean" (9:04)
Fletcher - "Sludge" (7:52)
Review: Steve O'Sullivan's Mosaic label is back with a second volume of its dubs series, this time on nice yellow vinyl with Sub Basics and Fletcher given one side each to shine. Sub Basics goes first with 'Mediterranean', a lovely liquid dub with bottomless depths and perfectly smooth, frictionless drums. Lovely soft melodies drift in and out as the echoing hits and icy hi-hats help oil this most heady of grooves. On the flip, Fletcher offers up 'Sludge' which is a little more tense and menacing, with darker bass and more texture as well as distant groaning pads that keep you guessing and on edge.

Sub Basics - "Quarters" (7:15)
Hidden Sequence - "Synapse" (Bluetrain Special edition dub) (8:55)
Review: Dub techno don Steve O'Sullivan's Mosaic label is back with a new dubs series and vol 1 kicks things off with a real doozy on lovely red wax. The boss himself offers up a Bluetrain special edition dub of Hidden Sequence's 'Synapse' which is all icy lines and liquid rhythms which make you think of some frozen lake on a misty morning. Sub Basics (Temple of Sound, Lion Charge Records) opens up with a fresh dub laden track with rippling chords, tons of echo and rolling drums on 'Quarters.' Both are timeless dub outings, as you would expect from this label.
