Deep Dubstep
  1. Squelch (3:55)
  2. With Luv (3:58)
Review: Big dubstep charmer K Lone serves up two gems for you lovers out there... 'Squelch' is a juicy trouser dropper led by beautiful filtered keys. West coast via West Ham, it's all about the UK G-funk right here. And the B-side is just as romantic; 'With Luv' takes us even deeper into the blend with dreamy hooks, big swaying pads and just a little eastern charm on those strings. Perfect summer magic.

  1. Focus (4:53)
  2. Wayback (3:52)
  3. Together (3:56)
  4. Ye (3:43)
Review: K Lone has been turning out some of the fresh bass-related tunes of the last few years. He can do it all from silky deep house to scuffed to garage to fine vocal jams. For his latest outing, the second release from Sweet N Tasty, he looks across the Atlantic to Chicago for a firing four tracker of mega fresh juke and footwork tracks. The drum programming is tight, the samples are drenched in heat, heart and soul and the chords are super warm and deep. It is a great take on the juke template that is likely to make for some real summer highlights.

Zissou (12")
Cat: WSDM 020. Rel: 09 Dec 21
UK Garage
  1. Zissou (4:03)
  2. Airtight (4:22)
  3. Deluxe (5:08)
  4. Softie (4:15)
Review: Bristol beat maker and Wisdom Teeth co-founder K Lone is right at the vanguard of the UKG revival. He is a busy producer who is also set to appear on the next Dr Banana 12" and only last month was he in fine form with Wilfy D on the Vitamin D label. This four tracker opens up with the silvery drum loops and chopped up vox of 'Zissou' then cuts loose with bright melodic daubs and warming sub bass on 'Airtight.' There is a real 2step energy to 'Deluxe' that plummets to watery, dubby depths while last of all 'Softie' is deep and introspective shuffler.

TASTY 001 (12")
Cat: TASTY 001. Rel: 20 Aug 21
UK Garage
  1. One (4:02)
  2. Snyders (3:55)
  3. Bad (4:51)
  4. Over Here (5:02)
Review: K Lone's music has been at the heart of the renewed interest in garage over recent years. This new EP kicks off the Sweet N Tasty label and the eagle earned will have no doubt already heard some of the tunes off it, as the DJ has been dropping them in mixes and sets for a while. That has done nothing to loosen their impact with bubbly opener 'One' building on a crisp beat while the bass plunges down low. There is a super sweet and airy vocal to 'Snyders' that tugs at the heart while 'Bad' gets down and dirty, with more pulsing bass and again a superb selection of vocals to add the sweetness. 'Over Here' rounds out with the most physical and raw drum work of the lot.

UK Garage
  1. Strawberries (4:32)
  2. Moodswings (4:24)
  3. STR8 UP (4:25)
  4. Getting Late (5:51)
Review: ***B-STOCK: Slight surface mark on the record, but otherwise in good working order***

The Vitamin D label is here to enrich your life with its bubbly gage vibes, and few make them better than mainstays K Lone and Wilfey D. This is another super sweet four-tracker from the pair that opens with the ripe and juicy 'Strawberries.' Emotive r&b vocal, check. Well swung drums, check. Neon chords, check. 'Moodswings' is another nice clipped bumper with some natty chord work and a more Todd Edwards styled vocal chop, and 'STR8 UP' is pure throwback two-step gold complete with string stabs and another gorgeous vocal. 'Getting Late' bangs that bit harder for the late-night hours. A fine EP.
