Review: The Blackpool-born singer and guitarist manages to find the time to go solo, whilst also fronting the alternative/indie rock troupes Ultimate Painting and Mazes. In 'Sandgrown', Jack Cooper comes across as a Lancashire alternative to Real Estate, taking on a relaxed pace and pulling focus to hazy nostalgia. The pairing of unhurried instrumentation and reserved observational lyricism is quietly indicative of Cooper's great talent for painting relatable scenes of what it's like growing up in a seaside town, in all its leisurely dullness, wonder and charm.
