Review: Netherlands-based 030303 Records is back with a fifth installment in its various artists series. As with the previous four editions, this is high-class electronic music pure and simple. Caramel Chameleon kicks off with a good time mix of cheery melodies and chattery drums, then Perseus Traxx brings his signature analogue murkiness to the lo-fi house trudge that is 'Something More Than This.' Elsewhere you will find quietly optimistic cuts like Raving Kid' restless 'Edgware Acid' or the dream house reveries of Kreggo's 'Hearthpulse' amongst many other varied treasures.

Review: Whilst there's some justification to the criticism that acid house is one dimensional in the hands of most producers, there are still certain labels and artists who prove ingenuity is still possible to achieve when relying on the humble Roland 303. Andreas Tilliander's TM404 LP for Kontra earlier this year is an obvious example, whilst Absurd's Acid Test series has also provided a platform for Tin Man, Dozzy and Pepe Bradock to introduce some new ideas into the field. Dutch label 030303 has been pioneering this approach for some time and return here with a sequel to the compilation with which they launched in 2009. This second installment showcases artists both well-known artists and obscure, with the likes of DMX Krew, Lunar Disko regular Automatic Tasty, Jared Wilson and Dutch veterans Dexter and Drvg Cvltvre joined by Cosmic Force, Jonny 3 Snares and the amusingly monikered Roy Of The Ravers. The latter's "Acid Hors D'oeuvre" is one of many lysergic highlights on this double LP offering.

Review: The debut album from 1-800 Dinosaur sees a wealth of producers associated with the collective provide behind the buttons support for grime MC Trim. That means across the ten tracks, Trim spits over bars from James Blake, Airhead, Happa, Klaus, Bullion, Boothroyd and Dan Foat. Blake and Trim have plenty of form of course, with the producer delivering killer Harmonimixs of the MC back in 2012. A recent Trim 12" on 1-800 Dinosaur set the tone nicely for this album, and Happa's colourful bassline and shuddering drums on "Before I Lied" provides an early highlight as does "Man Like Me." This cut sees Trim trading blows with a super, stripped down production from Airhead, whilst Jim Blake's production on "RPG" recalls his dizzying early work for Hessle and Hemlock. Full marks to the whole crew!

Review: Kemetrix, it is fair to say, is a pretty demented artist in the best possible way. His weird and wonderful sounds are utterly unique and for 100 Limousines's third release he serves u a land more of it across eight begging tracks. Kemetrix has been part of hallowed Detroit collective Urban Tree with the likes of Kenny Dixon Jnr for years and that shines thorough here in the twisted electronics and leftfield techno. Tracks sound like they may collapse at any moment, drums and perc are pills dup loosely, rhythms reveal themselves over time and the mood remains inviting if not dystopian.

Review: Outside Looking In is the landmark 10th album from Stone Foundation and it finds the much loved outfit being a big and fresh sound to their work. Over the last quarter of a century they have take an inclusive and collaborative approach. That continues here as the album was written with backing vocals from none other that Paul Weller himself and was recorded this Black Barn Studio. Also adding colour to the grooves are disco diva Melba Moore plus more from Sulene Fleming, Laville, Sheree Dubois and Graziella Affinita. It makes for a fulsome funk sound with big dance floor potential.

Review: Stone Foundation are among the few to offer some true-school Northern soul vibes these days (although the band are technically from the West Midlands!). The point is, however, that if you want to feel the spirit, the sounds and the emotions of 70s British funk then you've drawn the right record. Recorded at Paul Weller's (The Jam) studio down in Surrey, the album isn't all James Brown struttin' and hollerin'; many of the tracks on Everybody Anyone are bittersweet love songs for entirely different demographics to get stuck into. From the families, to young teens and lovers of soulful pop music, this is a joyous album with a positive energy and a cheerful charisma at its core.

Review: .Named after the iconic stairs in the Bauhaus building, Dessau, Germany, designed by Walter Gropius, OMD's 45th anniversary record is worthy of that name: an inimitable piece of design. Musically, Andy McCluskey and Paul Humphreys have given us many landmarks over their near-half century making tunes (not something you get to write every day) and this is certainly up there. It's also very OMD to opt for a completely fresh addition to the burgeoning catalogue, rather than a series of reissues, to mark the event. That said, Bauhaus is new by definition but perhaps not really design. One of the most immediately captivating things about the record is the fact so much of what's here feels like it's OMD through the ages. Film noir-ish 'Veruschka', politicised numbers like 'Kleptocracy' and dramatic high energy pop aplenty ('Don't Go'), these have always been totems of the duo, and all are back again.

Review: In between DJing around the globe, running Intacto Records and remixing The Knife, Booka Shade and others, Shinedoe managed to find some time to work on her debut album on 100% Pure Records. The result is here, "Sound Travelling". The album offers a collection of electronic dance floor tunes from a very talented producer. Shinedoe combines Detroit techno with minimal techno. With a clear and present west African influenced rhythm section. From the deep sounds of "Global Warning" to the blissful "Enjoy The Moments", they all have that same fresh unique character. The album comes in a DJ friendly six track double pack. As the CD version contains nine tracks, including previous released "Seek & You Will Find", "Different Faces" and "Dillema". "Very cool stuff. definitely got my support. My favourite tracks are: Feel The Space, Face Your Fears and Different Faces." Review: Maria Minerva arrives her fourth and perhaps most intoxicating release of 2011, presenting yet another chameleonic slant on druggy, eighties musical sensations with Sacred & Profane Love. Essentially the first LP shaped entity to surface on 100% Silk, the saturated jams present here will turn the ears of anyone that deemed "Ruff Trade" their favourite Cabaret Cixous moment. Much like that track, the productions here allow Minerva's delightfully demure vocals more prominence and from the opening soft focus disco moments of opening track "A Love So Strong" you get the feeling this might be her most immediate work yet. It's a sensation teased out over the course of the subsequent four tracks, though it's likely Minerva is benefitting from new found confidence as a result of all the plaudits. Proceedings end with a superbly rattling Ital remix of the opening track, whilst the cover art is perhaps the best to date from Amanda Brown's label.

Review: DJ Panthr is the "shadow self" (or, as we'd put it, alternative alias) of Hunter P Thompson, better known for his genre-bending ambient house and ambient techno releases as Akasha System. 100% Silk describes 'Jade District' as a 'technoid night ride inspired by the fern-shoruded neon streets' of South Tabor in his home city of Portland. It's an atmospheric and fairly accurate description all told, with Thompson combining his usual dreamy chords and colourful sonics with grooves and musical motifs more often associated with electro, acid, sci-fi techno, 'Artificial Intelligence' style IDM and hypnotic dub techno. What unites it all, aside from the colourful stylishness of the whole thing, is a pervasive sense of loved-up, wide-eyed tactility.

His new LP No Such Thing is inspired by notions of escape and the unknown, incorporating the dexterous live instrumentation of flutes, trumpets, voices and percussion, with elements of electronica, downtempo, jazz, house and Balearic. From the cinematic brilliance 'No Such Thing pt. 1', the early Chicago house vibe on 'Moods No Grooves', to the particularly emotive 'Breathing You Out' or the glassy-eyed and bittersweet dancefloor drama of 'Solace' - overall, it is what the label best described themselves as a "Mediterranean midnight of the mind."

Review: 2 Hot 2 Wait is the latest album from self professed "Headphone House" producer Coyote Clean Up, and a welcome return to Amanda Brown's tireless 100% Silk label who released the prolific Detroit based artist's cassette album Frozen Solid last year. Across the various formats he's released music on, Coyote Clean Up has always exhibited a charming embracement of lo-fi house that's equally indebted to his local heroes such as Theo Parrish and Aaron Carl (RIP) as it is the skewed UKtronics of Actress, Lukid et al. The seven track 2 Hot 2 Wait continues this approach and it's augmented throughout by a notable celebration of exhibitionism and lust.

Review: Bringing more of that fuzzed-out wonder that makes 100% Silk a more viable proposition in the world of analogue revivalism, Pharaohs have their own stand to take on the sound of classic new wave, early house and industrial. There are more contemplative moments such as opening track "Replicant Moods", trashy synth-pop shapes like "Miraculous Feet", scuzzy electro stompers as in "Everything", and plenty more styles besides. There truly is something to satisfy any curious taste here, mixing emboldened melodic composition with the lo-fi charms of budget equipment and never getting stuck in a stylistic rut. It really comes off sounding like one of the most imaginative takes on box jamming to emerge for quite some time.

Review: With more albums than singles to his name, there can be little argument that Michael Morrison is a prolific individual, not least when you consider the first Octo Octa release was in 2011. This latest LP for 100% Silk is a wondrous brew of machine soul, spanning techno, deep house and new wave in that curious blend that the label is known for. There are romantic turns as on "Bad Blood", rowdy breakbeat moments such as "His Kiss", industrial pneumatics like "Work Me", and a wealth of ideas in between. It's a strong and energetic body of work that displays both diversity and confidence at every turn, and makes for a great album of electronic music in the process.

Review: The wildly prolific young leftfield hip-hop prodigy MIKE drops none less than his ninth record; balancing his typically languid, hazy and self-referential flows with a more ambitious platter of beats dished out under his DJ Blackpower alias. Clocking in at 24 tracks deep, its a veritable sprawl, but never manages to feel lax or superfluous. In fact, the more hard-edged and darker instrumentals MIKE coughs up on this record take his music in an intriguingly arresting new direction. Take the mecha chug of 'African Sex Freak Fantasy', where his delivery takes on a fresh urgency and swagger, or the rollicking 'Do You Believe?' where his vocals ride the thick, smoggy thermals of the beat with effortless energy. A widening roster of appearances with each record serves to frame MIKE as a more and more crucial voice in contemporary hip-hop, and each guest seems to make the music feel more distinctly his. Never a bad thing!

Review: Snowmelt is a new record by Australian artists Seaworthy (aka Cameron Webb) and Matt Rosner, the long awaited follow up from their 2010 collaboration Two Lakes. Matt Rosner continues to explore the natural world to inspire his work based out of remote Western Australia. His most recent release being No Lasting Form (Room40). Webb's output as Seaworthy has been sparse in recent years as he continues to pursue a career in environmental research, focusing on urban wetlands and their ecosystems. This marks the first substantial release since Wood, Winter, Hollow, a collaboration with Taylor Deupree in 2013.
