  4. Take Me To The Dark
Review: Under the now familiar Octo Octa alias, Brooklyn-based Maya Bouldry-Morrison has been one of the key artists in defining the 100% Silk sound. After three albums and a clutch of 12" singles for Amanda Brown's label, Octa Octa brings the breezy, feelgood take on vintage house to Gerd Janson's Running Back imprint. Those familiar with their style will find much to enjoy; from the chiming melodies, feelgood breakdowns and swinging drums of 'More Times', to the piano-driven revivalist Italian house rush of 'Fever Dream', and deliciously deep 'Take Me To The Dark'. Best of all, though, is 'Dresses', a thrillingly humid workout full of dreamy chords and pitched-down, rave-era breakbeats.

Review: Octo Octa and Eris Drew are DJs who know how to make a club sweat. But they also know how to make one cry. Their high energy blend of techno, rave and house wears its heart proudly on its sleeve and has made them firm party favourites who always managed to whip up a crowd but with careful selections and smart sequencing rather than all the obvious bangers. This fabric mix is further proof of that, a real boon that will lift your spirits while we continue to be deprived of actual club experiences, and it was all recorded from their cabin in the forest of New Hampshire.

Review: Life partners and musical soulmates Octa Octa and Eris Drew have done much to raise the profile of transgender artists within dance music, and as a result their first contribution to Fabric's ongoing mix series seems genuinely significant. They've naturally pulled out all the stops for the occasion, gathering together choice cuts from the last 30 years, some of which have been sought-after secret weapons in their sets over the last decade. The all-action mix is highly entertaining, with highlights including the strobe-lit proto tech-trance of Westbam & Dr Motte's 'Sunshine', the mind-mangling techno intensity of DJ Hyperactive's 'Reptilian Skank', the warped bassline pressure of Y U QT's 'Fort Wibbler', and Orbital's storming, hard-to-find 1992 remix of Global Method's Inner City-sampling rave anthem 'Good Life'.
