Review: After establishing his name with a pair of rock-solid EPs on F*CLR Music, Glenn Davis established Deeper Groove Recordings as an outlet for his sparkling, melody-rich club workouts. A Place For You, his third outing on the imprint, is undeniably gorgeous - especially the EP-opening title track, where colurful synth riffs, sustained synth-strings and sun-splashed chords leap above a tactile deep house groove. The positivity, warmth and sonic colour continues on the chunkier and groovier 'Take Me To The Club', which is given a more thickset, classic U.S deep house-sounding rework by veteran deep house don Franck Roger. To round off an excellent EP, the Irish producer opts for a spiritually rich, piano-laden sound (and a killer analogue bassline) on 'Who Are People'.

Review: Big Love's popular compilation-style A Touch Of Love series returns for a sixth instalment, with boss man Seamus Haji once again showcasing a quartet of tried-and-tested treats. Review: French label Skylax has a freaky new one on 12" here - it is a rare edit outing for the label that deals in raw house and techno and finds some well-known pop sounds reworked into devastating dance floor cuts. 'Acid Edit ' has swirling falsetto vocals and a menacing acid line lashing about over stripped-back and raw drums. It's a playful yet effective tool for sure. 'Acid Tool' then offers up the same sound but without the vocals do is a more strobe-lit and direct offering for heady dancefloors. A great pick-up for when you need a hit of timeless acid.

Review: French label Wagram knows a thing or two about putting out superb compilations that take a widescreen look at a diverse array of genres. For this latest double album release it carries on in its Africanism series with a second volume of house sounds with an Afro undertone. Review: French DJ, producer and multi-instrumentalist Olivier Portal sadly passed away in January, aged 65. His best work came as Playin 4 The City and this EP is one of his most sought-after on the Plastik People label. It features two tracks originally released on the 'Backshop' EP on Tropism Records 2002 and one newer sound. Opener 'Minor Track' is a brilliantly aloof deep house cut with swinging, dubby drums and cute chord stabs that do enough to keep you moving. 'Backfire' is just as breezy but a little quicker with some sleek synths and nice claps moving things on with a cosmic edge. 'Backside' rides a nice chunky, tumbling rhythm with more subtle but seductive synth work.

Review: Aad de Mooy is better known as Paradise 3001 and has been releasing his fulsome take on techno since the mid 90s. Blue Highway is an EP from back then, 1994 to be exact, and it has aged faultlessly because these tracks will slot into any modern set without a problem, and likely be some of the best in it, in fact. It kicks off with the warped synth and bass entanglements of 'Mind & Motion' before the more gloopy and cosmic bass of 'Ludomil 75'. It's a masterful bit of future music that's followed by the vibrant Jaydee-like 'Blue Highways' and dreamier scapes of 'The Gates Of Dawn' and progressive cosmic funk of 'Mellow Moebe.'

Review: French producer Anaxander follows up great releases by legends Reggie Dokes and Kai Alce on new imprint People Of Earth. He's had a steady output in the last few years releasing on the likes of Local Talk, Dame Music and Tasteful Nudes to name but a few. "Chords & Theories" is delightfully dusty deep house with a swing fuelled rhythm, emotive chords and epic piano stabs. Review: Paris-based electronic music duo Charonne top up their very own Velvet Spirit label with the freshly released 'Chungking Mansions', an EP named after a real Hong Kong manor in which a labyrinth of ghosts are said to live. Alsoa a thematic tribute to the disputed Chinese enclave's hidden sonic heart - presumably made after a recent visit by the pair - this electro house hummer is said to aim for simplicity in its purest form, always keeping the groove firmly in mind. The deep house Parisien - equal co-founder of Ondule Recordings and 4th Sign Records respectively, and widely cognised for his Cobra Edits series - here follows up the elephantine Robsoul 20-tracker 20 Classics (not surprisingly, released in 2020) with a new EP, 'Classics'. Review: VITESS races out of the blocks with this new Dance Generation EP on Spain's Physical Education and it is another one that perfectly fuses the past with the future. The synths are sleek, comically minded affairs with hints of 90s prog to them the beats are well crafted and the vibes, especially on opener 'Dance Generation', are feel good but stylish. 'Dead Souls' sounds like it's paying tribute to the Joy Division track of the same name, here strapped to the snappiest of robo-disco beats and spelt out in thrumming arps and pointed bleeps. Review: Brooklyn-based deep and minimal house label Yuzu Music welcomes a close find of the operation to step up with this classy new four-tracker. Gunnter impresses from the off with a super silky and seductive sound on the loopy, bubbly, clean sounds of 'Narta' complete with hints of 90s reference but plenty of future synth work. 'Far Away' is heavy and punchy but with a nice bouncy kick and crisp percussion. 'Lamartine' is a heady one doused in cosmic synth work and mute neon glows and 'Smack' shuts down with a more dark and heavy house sound but still plenty of musical character.
