Review: Pampa offshoot Hart & Tief launched earlier in the year, via a split 12" featuring tracks by Soulphiction and Mike Denhert. This time round, fellow German producers DJ Koze and Robag Wruhme are at the controls. Koze kicks things off with "Driven", a clanking, booty-shaking fusion of metallic percussion hits, resonating electronics, dub techno motifs, and minimalist textures. It feels a little like a contemporary Berlin take on early '90s Sheffield "clonk" (think Sweet Exorcist's Clonk's Coming album on Warp), which is no bad thing in our book. Wruhme's "X-mop 198" is a much more straightforward, early morning techno bubbler, albeit with similarly clanking percussion hits amongst the thumping kick drums and restless, one-note riffs.

Review: Key Vinyl is the concern of French techno man Freddy K and next up on his excellent imprint is a young and developing artist by the name of Atonism. He hails from Spain and once again shows his class here with a little help from the vocals of Viktoriia. His brand of techno is punchy and direct but not sort of nuance - the opener has some funk in the kicks and mystery in the scratchy vocals then 'Unknown Error' gets unhinged and disorientating in terms of its twisted synths. 'Don't Call Me Baby' is bubbly, wet minimal and 'La Noche' shuts down with surging synths, unrelenting drums and hammering hits.

Review: Russian label Samizdat follows up its notable first release with a second 12", this time from Genning. It is classy and sophisticated outing all the way with this one as opener 'Stair To The Sky's Rooftop' soon sets you off on a trip to the stars with its slick rhythms and glistening celestial chords. 'Window To The Dub' follows more of a tech house template with loopy drums and bass that rumble up and down and 'Summer Lighting' then zones you out on some lovely pads and frictionless drums. Last off all is 'Mystic Lakes' which takes off on balmy pads and plump, cuddly but dynamic drums.

Review: Sindh combines old and new worlds on his latest mystic hymns, this time kicking off the A-Biotic label with his dark and alluring four-track EP 'Andaman'. He manages to fuse organic and synthetic materials here as he heads down a darkly introspective path where minimal and IDM, dub and techno all collide in mutant form. 'Jangil' is a real standout with its bubbling halftime rhythms and icy synths backed by distant angelic chorals. The bewitching sounds continue on 'Galathea' which rides back and forth on its heels as subtle sines, scurrying synths and menacing pads all interlock before 'Hinam' locks you in a dense synth stasis and loopy sense of lurching rhythm.

Review: After a surprise sojourn last year as Sato, an alias he used to explore ambient and dub techno territory, Satoshi Tomiie has reverted to his given name for solo album number five - a thin return given he made his 12" debut way back in 1989. The New York-based Japanese great is in fine form from the start, effortlessly sashaying between hypnotic deep tech-house (the eyes-closed, early morning excellence of 'You Are Here'), spaced-out dub-house ('Number 1'), chunky-but-dubby deep house of the kind that his friend Francois K would love ('Magic Hour'), acid-flecked minimalism ('Blast'), vintage-sounding dub techno ('A52', 'Meditation in an Emergency'), locked-in soundscape house (the shuffling and yearning 'Phase Space') and sub-heavy ambient dub ('Fast Track').

Review: Casino Classix is one of several aliases for legendary minimal man Baby Ford. Here it is also the name of a four-track EP that finds the long time UK underground operative working alongside fellow British techno luminary Mark Broom on a quartet of devastating cuts. 'Ringer' opens up with some dark and nimble baselines darting about beneath a dense layer of percussion and FX. 'Hoppa' is then a more precise and minimalist cut with wonky bass snaking down low beneath the icy hi-hats and jumbled toms. There is a warm dub depth to 'Hot Pot' to kick off the flip and 'Beach Club' shuts down with a restless mix of synth daubs and deft percussion over an ice cold groove.

Review: The sixth edition of the Luther Vine-curated Fragments Of Reality offers up four new workouts bulging with urgency and style. Upfront and upbeat disco house from Rhythms of Prescott opens the collection like a volcanic eruption, 'Three One Two' being the work of Irish-born, London-based Wizkid, definitely a name to watch out for. 'Dress 2 Sweat' by Aguila follows, with 90s-inspired filtered vocal samples gliding on top of a warm, sun-kissed bassline. Flip it over for 'Delayed Fizz' by Douwe and Picasso with its chiselled grooves and urbanesque electro twists, while the brassy, cheeky 'Unintended Consequences' by Tom Frankel completes the set in style.

Review: Juaan is an Argentinian producer who was last spotted delivering the 22247003 EP to 22Recordings and now makes the move to Egyptian label Geeza. The vibe on Juaan's releases is raw outboard energy with a focus on ear-catching riffs and an edgy demeanour which wouldn't sound out of place on labels like EYA. 'Perdoname 30' has a spooky feel to the creeping lead lines which should serve you well when you want to creep out the dancefloor. 'Dr Ritmo' maintains the mood while exploring a sound akin to early Model 500 - a quality which maintains throughout the release.

Review: 'Proceed With Caution' is the latest four-track EP of classic Detroit techno from the city's Filthiest (one more recent alias of longtime genre purveyor Julian Shamou), coming packed as ever with a cleanly modern twist, and incorporating elements of breakbeat and g-funk swagger along the way. Easing up on the layering, and thus to provide extra room for snappiness and sonic aloofness, 'Up In Smoke' clears the air, displacing oxygen with pyrolitic combustions, sputters and snare-drummed bangs. Equally is the bass-heavier 'Check Out The Technique', evoking not just the awe of technique, but the horrors of technicity, in its doomy imitations of authoritarian war brasses by way of a synthetic analog bass riff.

Review: French hard techno producer Acid Up Dub makes music for the headstrong. His brand of techno comes in at a freakish pace reminiscent of the mid 90s focus on blistering analogue genres that evolved post rave style. 'Tron Pistes' picks up elements of trance while the title track is a building burner. On the second side, 'Melatron' explores a deeper, cavernous sound while 'Destroy Dub Effect' adds a broken techno beat to the point of it almost verging on a EBM sound. We especially like introducing the haunting vocal to the song. All and all, you have one storming techno record. If you like it hard, then this is for you!

Review: Ellen Allien's label BPitch is one of Europe's finest and surely one of the most prominent labels to be headed up by any of the women in the scene. It is Gotshell behind this last 12" on the Berlin mainstay with four cuts of dark, artful techno from the Columbian that mark a welcome return to the label. He navigates between chaos and tranquility, blending disparate sonic elements seamlessly across the tracks starting with 'Forest,' which kicks off with misty dissonances and psychedelic pads over a driving kick drum. 'Who I Am' ventures into dubstep territory with echoey vocals and airy synths. 'Fluctuacion Paralela' delves into ambient realms, while 'Acid and Die' explores harsh acid coils. A classic game for the players, the newly reissued version of Flaschback 2 gets a facelift on its 30th Anniversary, in "2.5D" - following his victory over the Master Brain in the first episode, Conrad and his allies are once again confronted with Morphs, whose modus operandi is to crush all civilization. The new OST was produced by Raphael Gesqua; with about one hundred original soundtracks created for video games or cinema since the beginning of the 90s, Gesqua reunites here with the one who got him started in the world of video games: Paul Cuisset, on Flashback: The Quest For Identity. Cuts from both versions of the game (Commodore and Amiga) appear as part of a rich soundtrack, swerving between cinematic music, electronics and synthwave ambiances. Review: When techno is done right you just can't beat it, can you? Check the opening track from this new EP from Ryan James Ford, for example. 'Xtra Tall Tee' has a physical, unrelenting low end with just the right amount of distortion to make it sleazy, and is overlaid with hurried synth sequins that bring neon light and curious energy while some scratchy background vocal and raw as hell snares finish it in perfect style. There is a more trance vibe to 'Tricycle' (Proto mix), a sleeknesss to 'Sensitive Needs' deeper cosmic beauty to 'Bodge' (Closing mix) that makes this one a near perfect EP.

Review: Rotterdam label Planet Rhythm has snapped up some searing tech from relative newcomers Dynamic Forces here. The electrifying duo are one again not mucking about here as they serve up some pumping techno bangers that have a playful heart and plenty of great designs buried deep in their unrelenting grooves. 'New Set Up' for example is backlit by a nice heavenly synth glow and 'Plague' is a real head wrecker with twisted leads and super sized hi hats. 'Tango' is a minimal number that moves like a cat on a hot tin roof and seems to get ever quicker throughout.

Review: Wallis' label Jell is back with a second release to follow up the fine first outing and this one comes from Argentinean Manu Calmet. He has a background as a drummer and draws on that while layering up his own fresh sounds, here alongside Sassyggirl and DJ Sustancia under their project name Stripclab.'Te Toko Me Toka' has intense vocal loops and distorted bass over hard techno kicks that never let up. 'Enero' has a little more funk to the beats as it hurries along with a real sense of urgency and 'Pium Pium' is all about flashy synths that dart about the mix like fireworks. 'From Bed To Living' closes out with cosmic hard techno and hints of Latin rhythm.

Review: The already well-travelled 'I Am a Dancer' cut that was originally produced by Marc Romboy and C.A.R. and debuted on Kompakt's acclaimed Total 21 album now undergoes some vibrant transformations with three new mixes. Marc Romboy & Sinisa Tamamovic goes first and make it into a steamy, weighty but deep and pulsing track that drips with sweat and lust. The Skatman remix is much more for the big room with its grinding low ends and epic breakdowns and Dense & Pika then bring some unstoppable and rolling waves of techno power to their version. Cheers.

Review: This is the first release on the newly formed Thoughtforms records and also by the group with the same name, Thoughtforms. 'Tubes' straddles the line between techno, industrial and EBM and there's a psy-trance-like vision to each track where you could easily hear this in any futuristic machine movie soundtrack. 'Formas Adidas' is our favorite on this EP, but the B-side 'Our Mind' blends ambient into the trance at a slower BPM. Fans of industrial tinged EDM and EBM should particularly enjoy the sci-fi soundtrack vibes here.

Review: Raffaele Attanasio has been gradually becoming a big name in Italian techno over the past decade and his latest 'South Signatures' 12" is turning up on the German label Mutual Rytm, which looks to be a match made in heaven. This EP houses five strong high energy dancefloor punishers that are not for the faint of heart. 'Madrigal' is a strong melodic techno burner that is perfect for the main stage of any techno festival. Powerful and futuristic, it adds an aura of trance to the building of the melody. 'Heat' is a techno dancefloor workout for the headstrong. 'Aogin Tree' is more traditional styled loopy techno that you would find on Drumcode, Zenit or Skunkworks in the early 00s. Blistering track! Our favourite may be the title track itself, for its pure unadulterated fun aspect. If you are into big room sounding techno that grabs your attention, then look no further.

Review: Head Front Panel is the first guest producer to land on Dark Machine Funk and apparently has long been an inspiration. He brings four precision tooled techno weapons aimed squarely at the dancefloor. 'Panama' is a copy cut with vocal yelps that will ignite the party, 'Tactile' is dubby, with watery pads and a relentless sense of forward motion that will sweep anyone off their feet and 'Surdo' then gets more dark, heads down and menacing with its glitchy melodies and warehouse feel. Review: Japan's Thinner Groove flesh out their distinctive aesthetic with every new release. This time around, they welcome none other than Lemmi Ash, KOOLMFL and Sonic Weapon for a collaborative three-track EP of lowercase minimal tech and textural vignettes. The aim of the game is best encapsulated in the label's commentary: "each track can add a distinctive touch to the night, as like completing your cocktail with lemon and/or lime". Each track indeed sounds to the ear akin to how a fruity garnish tastes, with Ash's 'Presence' bringing tart citrine breaks notes to a gracefully held glass vessel. KOOLMFL's 'Atonbow' is drier bitters, barely availing itself of its trembling chords and sampled vox after an ultra-snappy initiation featuring a mere bass and kick-clap. Thinner Groove know all too well that good music is like an excitation of the flavour palate, and that minimality is the thing that lets such flavours sit.

Review: Adam Beyer's notable techno label Drumcode seems to be as busy as ever of late. The label here rolls out a fourth part of its ongoing A Sides series, which is now up to volume 12. Though the Swede himself doesn't feature, some of his trusty sidemen do starting with Chris Avantgarde who brings big room, hard techno energy to 'The Last Time'. Bry Ortega keeps it just as intense with the machine-gun like synth fire of 'Discover 9', Massano brings some brighter synth loops to the stomping 'Betraya' and Spektre shut down with a mix of hardcore, trance and techno potency on 'Too Far Gone.' Some great DJ weaponry here, for sure.
