Although he rarely releases music these days - his most recent single, a hybrid cover/rework of a Hugh Massekela classic, dropped three years ago - nu-disco pioneer Daniel Wang has not lost his touch. 'DSDN', the Berlin-based American's surprise new single, is every bit as essential as the music he made in the late '90s and 2000s. In its EP-leading 'Vocal Mix' form, the track is a gorgeous chunk of colourful, melodious deep house/nu-disco fusion full of ear-catching disco guitar licks, rubbery bass, dusty drums, female spoken word vocals (in German), and tactile synth-organ sounds. The revisions are cracking, too, with the '303 City Dub' - where sparkling piano riffs, delay-laden vocal snippets and a frankly filthy acid bassline catch the ear - and the similarly informed '303 instrumental dub' standing out.
