Deep Horizons EP
Cat: MS 003. Rel: 02 Jun 20

Techno
Wave Gliders (5:10)
Ocean Myst (6:04)
Deep Horizons (6:38)
Twilight Dive (5:24)
Review: Electro heads take note, Gaetan Votion is here with his emergent Aquatronics alias looking to celebrate everything Drexciyan. From the project title to the sounds on this latest 12", you can hear the influence of Gerald Donald and James Stinson faithfully channeled - the important thing is Votion has done a good job of it. "Wave Gliders" is awash with rich, sweeping pads and underpinned by chunky bass synths, while "Ocean Myst" takes things under the waves with beautifully rendered aqueous atmospherics. "Deep Horizons" is a sweeter mood with powerful chord progressions at its heart for a highly emotional listening experience. "Twilight Dive" completes the set with a mellow mood for that brings a perfect sense of balance to this top drawer EP.

Confine EP
Cat: MS 007. Rel: 18 Jul 22

Breakbeat
Confine (6:08)
Outbreak (6:21)
Alastria (7:36)
Omichron (8:03)
Review: Jon Mace is Inkipak, a new name who has impressed with a quick and busy run of releases on labels like Ping Disc, Mighty Force and Glawiio Music. This time out he lands on Magnonic Signals with four more tracks of brilliantly designed and lush techno soundscapes. 'Confine' opens with a far-sighted sense of forlornness over bumpy breaks. 'Outbreak' then cuts lose with plunging bass and starry eyed melodies that take you far off into the cosmos and 'Alastria' continues the voyage with crunchy percussion and bleeping melodies. 'Omichron' is as catchy as the virus it is presumably named after.

Forgotten Technology
Forgotten Technology (12" limited to 200 copies)
Cat: MS 005. Rel: 19 Apr 21

Techno
Hidden In Plain Sight (7:00)
Behind The Smile (6:15)
Dream Sequencer (5:57)
Great Tartaria (7:27)
Review: 'Intelligent techno' is not really a term that we should be using in this day and age, but it would certainly have been used to describe Darren Nye's music had it been released in the 1990s. Forgotten Technology, his latest EP, genuinely sounds like a long-lost relic from the period when the likes of B12, Kirk Degiorgio and the Black Dog were re-inventing techno. Full of deep, spacey chords, even more intergalactic melodies and musical arrangements that will genuinely make your heart sing, this is electronic listening music of the highest order. Our picks of a very strong bunch are the deep space drift of 'Behind The Smile' and the more upbeat, Motor City style sci-fi techno of 'Dream Sequencer', though every single track is superb.

Neuromorphic Engineering Vol 1
Cat: MS 004. Rel: 09 Nov 20

Electro
Reedale Rise - "Anatalia" (5:58)
Darren Nye - "Beyond The Stars" (6:19)
Mihail P - "Past Lives" (5:04)
Spin Fidelity - "To Tha Outta Limits" (5:43)
Review: Get your magnons out for the dance... Magnonic Signals (the label who impressively sell their digital releases at L1000) return with their first V/A EP. Liverpool's Reedale Rise starts the show with the emotional bends and flutters of 'Anatalia' while Darren Nye maintains the emotive theme on the deeper, Detroitian 'Beyond The Stars'. Meanwhile on the B; Mihall P and Spin Fidelity (who both had the honour of being on the label's launch release last year) return with two more moments. Erring more on the side of techno 'Past Lives' struts with a strong 4/4 flare before 'To Tha Outta Limits' brings us home via the edge of the known electro universe. Show us some signal!

What Is Our Future?
Cat: MS 008. Rel: 09 Nov 22

Techno
Finally Home (5:44)
Albear Wave (6:26)
Me & You (6:16)
What Is Our Future? (7:09)
Review: Since first popping up a couple of years ago, ReKaB has released a staggering amount of music on labels like Intellitronic Bubble, Moatun 7, NightFlight and Fourier Transform. His sound stems from the deep techno and electro of the 90s, where warm pads and crisp electro beats were the order of the day. On this first release for Spanish label Magnonic Signals, he courses through beautifully rendered vistas of sci-fi machine soul. 'Me & You', which opens up the B-side, is an especially gorgeous creation with the kind of heartache melodic interplay which could move a robot to tears.

Gravitational Lensing
Cat: MS 006. Rel: 05 Jan 22

Electro
Harbour Lights (8:02)
Change Is Gonna Come (7:08)
Fall (6:01)
Midnight Creep (9:56)
Review: Magnonic Signals is a label founded in 2019 by Antonio Velazquez and Lee Wren Booth, focusing on a variety of genres while showcasing new talents alongside more established artists. The label's sixth release comes from Velazquez under his Spin Fidelity alias on the Gravitational Lensing EP. Features the sublime smack electro antics of 'Harbour Lights' on the first side, followed by the low slung acid house groove of 'Change Is Gonna Come'. Over on the flip, more darkly dystopian sci-fi beats await you on 'Fall' and Midnight Creep' respectively.
