Super Disco Edits Brazil Jazz Funk
Cat: LGF 018. Rel: 05 Jun 25

Disco/Nu-Disco
Alexny - "Harina De Maiz"
Alkalino - "Bate Tambor"
Lego Edit - "D.D.B"
Scruscru - "Gold Velvet"
Review: 'Super Disco Edits Brazil Jazz Funk' is the imaginative title of this well-tagged edits V/A from Legofunk, charting wah-heavy lollops round the May tree across several standout stomps, from Alexny, Alkalino, Scruscru and Lego himself. All turning their hands to Afro-funk freak succours of impossible-to-rediscover-except-for-if-you're-a-true-connoisseur origin, we're thoroughly dazed and confused at the soft wah contusions of 'DDB' and the recumbent ocean laps of 'Harina De Maiz', perfect for hammock lazing.

Alexny - "Meneao" (6:03)
Siggatunez - "Boogie" (6:29)
Mosaik Kollektif - "Twisted City" (5:49)
Dj Laurel - "Let The Good Time" (4:29)
Lego Edit - "Party Freaks" (Lego party dub) (5:59)
Review: You can always count on the Legofunk crew to bring you disco and funk edits from less mined sources that will absolutely rock it on the floor. On this instalment we have five different joints to get stuck into, from the slow Afro house throw down of Alexny's 'Meneao' to Siggatunez's slinky, soulful groover 'Boogie'. Look out for the low tempo seduction of DJ Laurel's 'Let The Good Time', which will get a warm-up slot thoroughly juiced for the night to come. The Lego Edit 'party dub' of 'Party Freaks' heads more explicitly towards peak-time house, but as ever it's delivered with heart and soul thanks to the vintage source material powering the track.

Atoz - "Woman" (5:10)
Musta - "Cam Run Sun" (5:30)
Wandervogel - "Thrilla In Manila" (8:12)
Lego Edit - "Agosto D'Amor" (Lego Re edit) (5:37)
Review: Legofunk builds more bridges between beats with another four tracker from various artists. Atoz kick off with a chunky, heavyweight house tune 'Woman' which samples the iconic vocal from Nina Simone's 'See-Line Woman' tune. Musta goes for a more flailing and funky driven feeling on the afro-tinged 'Cam Run Sun' and on the flip, Wandervogel references one of the greatest fights of all-time with 'Thrilla In Manila.' No punches are pulled on this fulsome afro-disco pumper and last of all things get deep, with hip swinging claps and twirling trumpet leads all primed to warm up any club on 'Agosto D'Amor.'

Ritmo Nera (7:00)
127 Sport Arancione (7:05)
Panda Bianca (5:59)
Review: Legofunk's back with more of their special dance floor heaters, this time from the collaborative team of Da Lukas and Massimiliano Troiani. 'Ritmo Nera' kicks off with some buoyant drums and sliding hi hats, international vocals and clattering percussion that will install bring tropical vibes to any party. '127 Sport Arancione' is another fulsome funk joint with elastic bass and happy synths overflowing with joy. 'Panda Bianca' closes down with more funk heavy house grooves and a firey vocal is paired with stomping kicks.

Bad Duna
Afro Panda
Review: Legofunk's 12" series is back in action with this fantastic two-track EP from Da Lukas and Massimilliano Troiani. Extending outwards from Afrobeat and into sunny house dance-realms, 'Voodoo Bongos' comprises 'Bad Duna' and 'Afro Panda', the first of which exorcises any traces of bad juju with a righteous, shimmying shindig, through hand-drummed ascensions and chanted revelations against solid kicks. The sax line over and above predominates, though at times it blends back into the ensconcing euphony, at which point a retrofusion of white noise fallers and jaunty male verses displace the limelight. 'Afro Panda' moves similarly, unveiling another carnivorous piebald prance.

Rio Deja Vu (De Gama Re-Groove) (7:16)
Rio Deja Vu (8:09)
Cuica Groove (8:47)
Review: Legofunk serves up a 10th does of its futurist and floor funk here with Dirty Elements and Drunk Drivers at the helm. It's a De Gama Re-Groove to kick things off with super smooth house grooves and florid Latin influences over heft kick drums. It's a carnival waiting to happen, frankly. The original is a more stringy and percussive, but the weighty drums still establish a killer groove. Last of all is 'Cuica Groove' which is sunny and has a weird and wonderful vocal floating up top.

The Funk District - "In Our Minds" (6:08)
The Funk District - "Kwaku's Line" (6:41)
Lego Edit - "Funky Nassau" (7:23)
Lego Edit - "Soul Power" (Lego edit 5 AM) (6:31)
Review: The young but ever more promising Legofunk label continues in its fine stride with a fifth EP here. It is again packed with sexy edits, the first two of which takes tunes by The Funk District. 'In Our Minds' is straight ahead funk with warm bass and lively rhythm section, while 'Kwaku's Line' cuts loose on big brass stabs, flailing percussion and atmospheric, live sounding vocals. Flip it over for two Lego Edit jams, the first is 'Funky Nassau' which is as you would expect from the name, an afro edit bristling with vitality and then a nice soulful party starter in the form of 'Soul Power.'

Yeah Rhythm (Lego Jazz 4 AM) (6:49)
Yeah Alright (Lego Funk Touch) (6:05)
Review: Another month, another freshly minted re-edit imprint. This one comes from Italy and appears to be the work of upstart editors Lego Edit and Bio. Fans of bossa revivalist Nicola Conte should enjoy A-side "Yeah Rhythm (Lego Jazz 4AM)", which brilliantly blends elements from a dusty bossa classic with what appear to be horns, vocals and other choice samples from a Fela Kuti classic. It's an interesting idea, brilliantly executed. On the flipside you'll find "Yeah Alright", a more traditional re-edit of the same source material with a few extra horn stabs here and there to keep the dancefloor bubbling.

Review: We're become accustomed to hearing Lego Edit apply his scalpel touch - and love of beefing up vintage beats - to funk, soul, disco and boogie cuts, though his tastes are much wider than that - as this five-track selection of reworks prove. The Jazzfloor Edits title is a bit of a giveaway, with the popular producer turning his hand to jazz-funk, jazz, and bona-fide jazz-dance faves. He first turns a Hammond-heavy jazz-funk shuffler into a bumpin' jazz-house number on 'Jungle Track', before expertly reworking a Latin-tinged, Ramsay Lewis style jazz workout on the superb 'Jazzy Touch'. On 'Jazzy Track', he successfully tweaks a triple-time, piano-heavy jazz stomper, while 'Give Me Some' is a jazz-funk-meets-disco treat, and 'World' sounds like a house head's take on what sounds like one of Gil-Scott Heron's most righteous and life-affirming moments.

AR - "BraziLego" (6:46)
JB - "Hot Stone" (Lego ReFunk) (6:46)
GB - "The Ghetto" (5:07)
FP - "Gnomo Gnamo" (Lego ReFunk) (7:21)
Review: Italy's Lego Edit has cooked up another volume of vintage edits that are pure heat for grown up dance floors. AR's 'BraziLego' kicks off with a high speed, Latin laced groove of bristling drums and perc that is steamy and tropical. Then comes a more slow motion funk trip at the hands of Lego ReFunk who channels plenty of OG JB vibes, and then things get silky and seductive on a George Benson edit of 'The Ghetto' that rolls deep. 'Gnomo Gnamo' is the trumpet laced, teasing-tempo'd closer that is full of promise and suspense.

Destroy Moonbase (Fabrice & Lego Interceptors mix) (7:28)

Shado N-Ergy (Fabrice & Lego Space Intruder Detector mix) (5:58)
Review: Those who keep an eye on the world of download-only edit releases should be familiar with Lego Edit, an Italian remix artist who has released more EPs this year than you've had hot dinners. Here he launches the "UFO Edits" series, joining forces with long-serving selector and Balearic-minded producer Fabrice for two of the three edits. Their joint efforts are impressive, particularly the lolloping intergalactic jazz-meets-dub-disco weirdness of "Destroy Moonbase" (though the low-slung, Hammond-heavy throb of "Shado N-ergy" is not far behind). Also worth checking is solo Lego Edit revision "On The Way", a loopy disco-house affair full of cut-up horn solos and Chic style grooves.

JB - "Mr Good Foot" (Lego edit dub) (10:35)
SV - "Latin Sun" (Lego Classic edit) (5:59)
PK - "Afro King" (Lego edit Afro cut) (6:01)
Review: In the mood for some upfront edits of big hitters? Want to please the crowd but also keep it headsy for those who want their grooves to run deeper? Then look no further than this 12", which kicks off with cool and deadly reworking of a funk monolith on "Mr Good Foot (Lego Edit Dub)". On the flip, it's South American vibes all the way with the impossibly beautiful musicality of "Latin Sun (Lego Classic Edit)". Then if you want some pumped up Afrobeat moods to get the floor rocking, reach for B2 burner "Afro King".

CLB - "Get Off" (6:08)
HLD - "DITD" (5:39)
GRM - "Movin' " (6:27)
LGD - "A A On" (5:29)
Review: Five new brooding tools from the heads over at Legofunk, each under their own three-lettered moniker. It's difficult to know which artists are behind each track here, but all are moody big-room house and disco groovers; LKN's 'Country Hous' strikes and instant chord with its echoed-out harmonica and deep bass stride, while continuations on the theme go on to impress; HLD's 'DITD' is an indeterminately dreamy number that plays up a rare triplet house rhythm, while LGD's closer 'A A On' amps up the mood of urban get-up-and-go with Hammond organs and funking low-reg licks.

Everything Is Drum (6:57)
Review: Legofunk Records is back with a more summer-ready and vibrant funk sounds this time with Matalo in charge of some super hot beats. 'Si Senor' is a fiery opener that is dense with whistles, percussion, vocals and Latin rhythms. 'Escucha Mi Melodia' is an undulating groove with twanging guitars and steam male top lines while 'Esclavo' dials it back a little to a more ass-wiggling bit of tropical funk. Last of all is the slinky sound of 'Everything Is Drum' with its steel drum sounds and loose-limed percussion.

Saltywax - "Keep Grooves" (6:08)
PCJ Project - "Manussa" (5:14)
Lego Edit - "Welcome To The Jazz Club" (Lego re-edit) (6:07)
Review: This is another marvellous outing from Legofunk Records featuring four more tracks of well defined dance floor funk. There is a charm and seduction to the big, bustling, restless disco fired loops of Paul Older's 'The Static' which makes way for an equally funk fulled and party starting gem from Saltywax with 'Keep Grooves.' On the flip side, things slow down a little with Pcj Project who opt for a Latin tinged, sax lead charmer on 'Manussa' and then last but not least is some cool jazz chord work and deep house shuffling on Lego Edit's 'Welcome To The Jazz Club.' Nice.

Pcj Project - "Hot Groove" (Lego re-edit) (4:49)
Lego Edit - "Woman Of The Ghetto" (5:32)
Lego Edit & Vito Lalinga - "Afro Funky Now" (3:32)
Review: Wilfully slapdash label Legofunk are behind some of the most infectious contemporary funk productions out today. This 3-tracker 12" comes as a trifecta of productions from The Rebel, PCJ Project, ad Vito Lalinga, all edited by the sum of their parts, Lego Edit. These are certified warmer-uppers for parties that like to dangle the essence of funk and disco on a more beatgriddedly patient tip before the noses of partygoers, before eventually giving up the gooey vocal goods.

Review: Legofunk brings four new disco-jazz funk edits propulsors to the plate, reserving front-row seats for fellow producer Hansi on the A1 before pinning down three further orotund disco-breaks tones himself. The A-side hears a segueing from Jimmy Castor to Booker T And The MG's, while the B lobs the loudspeaker through the looking glass, ending things on an ultra-obscure Andean disco stomp from Lego label mainstay The Kool Orch.

Review: The latest one from Legofunk is here, bringing you only the finest disco house edits from dedicated souls with deep knowledge and the instinct to bring the best out of those grooves. First up is Massimo Voci, who fits a solid structure around the fluid magic of Roy Ayers before BYO Boogie gets busy with Tim Maia on the slinky 'Nissei'. The Magic Tracks keep things focused on Africa with the pattering percussive funk of 'Rainy Season Safari', and Picossu have some fun with Kool & The Gang. That leaves it to the label heads to do some work on 'Simply Jazz', which draws on Latin roots for a truly transcendent end result.

Review: The ever-reliable Legofunk label has scored another big one here with four more dance floor-ready bits of disco-rooted fire. Openers XXXV Edits kick off with the cosmic vibes and expansive melodies of 'Space Bass Rooster' before Lego Edit layers up some old-school soul and funk on 'P-Man.' On the flip is the elastic bass funk of Soulbrigada's 'Hum Bello' with is flabby rhythms and great vocals then closing down is a Wandervogel's 'Mirage,' a Rhodes-laced house groove that is jazzy, lo-fi, soulful and brilliantly warm.
