Review: Legend of the Madrid scene Casbah 73 is back with a new one for Kraak & Smaak's Boogie Angst here, featuring four new sweltering tracks. The message of environmental politics on 'Let's Invade The Amazon' sung by Hawaii by-way-of Texas' Tonya Wilcox is backed by a low slung disco arrangement, followed by the late night boogie-down instrumental 'Pale Splash Of Blue'. Over on the flip, remixes come from some right legends of the scene; Yoruba Soul takes the track deeper as expected, while Razor N Tape main man JKriv goes for a tropical vibe.

Review: Dutch disco trio Kraak & Smaak cook up their first fresh material since last year's Chrome Waves album, and serve it on their own label Boogie Angst with the help of longstanding vocal collaborator Sam Duckworth. "Notes" carries a distinct early 90s motif while Sam's staccato sounds reminiscent of a young Albarn. "Concrete" is much more of a silky modern disco affair while "Concrete" takes us down a more cosmic corridor with sparkly guitars and a bubbling low-end and a delivery that will sit well with Black Ghosts fans.

Review: Well over a year has passed since Kraak & Smaak's Boogie Angst label delivered the first Boogie Beats EP, a multi-artist affair designed to allow artists from around the world the chance to, "present and extrapolate their definition of a funky groove". This belated follow-up is packed with genuine musical heat, from the weighty dub disco excitement of Brighton artist Tieknots' stripped-back and heavy 'On My Mind' and the bruk-up gospel soul grooves of Get To Know's 'Love Taught Me', and the celebratory rush of Scruscru's 'S For Sexy Edit', a deliciously accessible and addictive rework of a little-known 1970s disco cut. Perhaps best of all, though, is Kraak & Smaak's ultra-funk and pleasingly deep revision of Escort singer Adeline's solo cut 'After Midnight'.

Review: Following some great releases by Madrid legend Casbah 73, Secret Rendezvous and Moods, Kraak & Smaak's Boogie Angst returns this week with a new one by German-born/Amsterdam-based Marcel Vogel. The Lumberjacks In Hell chief serves up five typically disco oriented cuts on Games Change; there's the boogie-down vibe of 'Head Back In The Game' featuring a smooth vocal, followed by the late night mood music of 'Keep On Stepping' (extended) featuring another brilliant vocal performance by talented singer Lyma. Over on the flip, they treat you to the low slung affair 'Funk Money' and truly the sensual number 'Popping My Cherry'.
