Summer Jam
Cat: RR 08. Rel: 09 Aug 24
Summer Jam (feat DJ Deviant) (3:53)
Back For More (4:05)
Review: Manchester producer Atomphunk's collaboration with Seattle duo Mugs and Pockets, featuring DJ Deviant, is a standout summer release. 'Summer Jam' is a vibrant track with a popping funk bass line and lively rhymes that evoke the spirit of the Native Tongues, blended seamlessly with the Grand Central/Fat City groove and the West Coast bounce of Jurassic 5. This track is poised to be Regulate's biggest hit yet. On the flip side, 'Back For More' takes a more laid-back approach, with Atomphunk crafting a synth-driven groove perfect for those hot, sticky summer days. Crisp beats and Pockets' (from MAP) smooth delivery make this tracka great blend of funk, hip-hop and groove.

Get On The Floor
Cat: RR 09. Rel: 29 Jan 25
DJ Deviant & Swamburger - "Get On The Floor" (3:33)
DJ Deviant - "Where's The Party" (3:47)
Review: DJ Deviant and Swamburger join forces for a double-sided serving of feel-good hip-hop and r&b on this 7" release. 'Get On The Floor' is a surefire party starter, its infectious beat and catchy hooks practically demanding movement and setting the tone for a night of good times. The track is a vibrant blend of classic hip-hop elements and contemporary production, with DJ Deviant's cuts and scratches adding a layer of turntablist flair. On the flip, 'Where's The Party' sees DJ Deviant flying solo, keeping the energy high with a smooth groove and feelgood vibes that are reminiscent of 90s r&b classics. The ever enduring appeal of hip-hop and r&b in full effect.

Shake Your Rump Vol 1
Cat: RR 04. Rel: 13 Jul 23
So Damn Hot (3:55)
Rumpashaker (3:27)
Review: Mysterious editor Shake Your Rump's entire statement of intent is, well... exactly that. This fresh 7" record by the artist and label hears two sides of edits magic, 'So Damn Hot' and 'Rumpashaker', both of which sample classic funk and soul greats, but with an added oomph and verve well-suited for hip-hop mixes. In this day and age it can be hard to motivate anything remotely resembling an activity worthy of rump-shaking, but Shake Your Rump serves to prove such reluctant habits can be broken.

So Damn Hot
Rumpashaker
Review: The Shake Your Rump series asks its listeners to do exactly what it says on the tin. The name doubles up as a moniker for both label and artist, who/which here teams up with fellow UK-based producer DJ Deviant for yet another pair of 7" edits goodness. The functional titles 'Shake' and 'Shake It Up' further hammer home the command; break the monotony of static glutes, or else. Fans of Kenny Dope, Armand Van Helden, AV8 and the early Bombstrikes releases will be pleased.

Listen To The Sound
Cat: RR 01. Rel: 11 Nov 21
Listen To The Sound (4:04)
That Beat (3:28)
Review:
The first release from Regulate Recordings sets out its stall in fine fashion. The tidy 7" brings together elements of funk, hip hop, party breaks and plenty more into a pair of authentic old school sounds. They come from a Manchester DJ, T2Funk, who used the extra time he had during lockdown to explore his record collection and link up with producers and turntablists to form a collective and release their own jams on 45s. 'Listen To The Sound' has a real 80s swagger with plenty of great mic work and scratching, then 'That Beat' is a more rolling bit of boom bap with big horns.

Since I Fell For You
Cat: RR 05. Rel: 24 Jul 23
T Funk Collective - "Since I Fell For You" (feat Mali) (4:01)
Atomphunk - "Come Boogie" (feat SI Brad) (4:03)
Review: The story goes that T Funk Collective were formed during lockdown after the wealth of time offered by the anti-pandemic measure allowed Manchester DJ T2Funk to hone and streamline his crate-digging chops - leading naturally to the formation of a collective of producers and turntablists, who now contribute their own modern funk bits to their very own label. 'Since I Fell For You' is a quality, hi-fi instrumental funk number suited for DJs and dancers alike. You'll be hard-pressed to find anything less inhibition-melting for some time.
